I had this exact problem with a new gopro and one of those new usb capture devices going into OBS. Thanks to your troubleshooting advice, I took a closer look at my micro-HDMI to HDMI cable, and noticed that the casing around the micro-HDMI plug was a little too thick to allow it to fully enter the gopro. I trimmed off some of the excess plastic casing from the plug, and then it fit like a glove, and I got a video signal in OBS. thanks again.

But I am using a Elgato Sound Capture to distribute the audio and video, somehow it works.

I have a normal mini hdmi to hdmi cable that I plug into the same capture card that is plugged into my computer. I'm getting the same rainbow colored screen and when I plug the cable with the camera (Lumix G7) into a TV, I don't get any signal. The cable fits perfectly both into the camera and the capture card. Is there a different type of cable I need or a setting on my camera I should change?

Hey Zulf. So I've been streaming for a few months now with my cheap off-brand action camera that I purchased for about $50 a few years ago and it's been working fine. All I did was use a micro USB to USB cable that connects to my PC and it allows me to output 720p 30fps. However, recently I wanted to do a slight upgrade to get a better resolution image for my stream so I went and bought a cheap video capture card (1080p 30fps) alongside a micro HDMI to HDMI cable. I'm getting rainbow bars so I came across one of your videos on how to fix it but couldn't seem to find the problem. The thing that confuses me is that why does the camera work without the micro HDMI cable? If I can output 720p 30fps with just the micro USB cable, shouldn't the camera be able to work with the capture card? On the other hand, I can't really test out if my cable is faulty because it's micro HDMI to HDMI, but knowing that it had around 9k+ reviews on Amazon, I just assume its not the cable that is stopping this from working. Please help :(

Hi, I have the same capture card as you.
My problem is that when I connect the camera + HDMI cable + Hdmi video capture in OBS, I can only see the images that the card has in memory.
But it does not emit, only the rainbow bars or the saved images appear if I give them to see them.
only that.

@@Ak-xs7mh i also have thee same problem, the camera itself is working fine, the cable and the capturee card is working fine, it just givees rainbow colours as an output video
Thank you for the cool video! Iøm using Canon G7X mark II, and it can stream using the video capture. BUT it only last for about 1 minute before it suddenly show the rainbow, any idea how to fix it?
Check the auto power off on the camera settings and turn it to off.
I just got this problem. Everything worked fine yesterday, and today I turn on OBS and get those colour lines. The HDMI cable is fine, my switch is fine, so I have no idea what could have happened. I guess it's time to buy a new capture card :/
Hey Zulf! I use a Sony a6000 camera to stream on OBS and every once in a while my camera while go to rainbow screen for a few seconds and back to the camera by itself? i run my Micro hdmi to hdmi adapter to a regular hdmi then into the capture card. any ideas?

My display is showing the exact same thing on Streamlabs but i have a capture device with a Loop and seems to send a signal back to my PS3 console fine as if both HDMI cables are ok. Is it maybe something wrong with my device?

Hi Zul. I have checked all these things: Capture card gets the rainbows, HDMI cable works when plugged into another monitor and I see what the camcorder sees on the monitor.. HDMI out in camcorder settings is set to 1080i. I have the camcorder plugged into the wall socket for power. I have Canon Vixia HF G40. I'm trying to connect to Zoom, just get the color bars. Not using OBS. Have brand new HP laptop running Win 10. Sure hope you can help me. Thank you soooo much!

2022 MacBook Pro 16 with Canon XA50 camcorder. Mini hdmi to hdmi adapter. HDMI to HDMI 4K cable to HDMI to usb-c adapter capture card. The card is recognized but no video. Camera has a shotgun microphone on top but audio isn’t coming thru. Any help would be great.

I've just bought a video capture card similar to the one in your video with the hope of using with my camera for zooming etc, its a panasonic lumix tz10 with mini hdmi output, the camera displays on the view/play setting on computer through the capture card but as soon as i switch over to taking a picture/video is give the vertical multicoloured bands as per your video, I've tried various settings and the same also happens on my tv, again I can view pictures already taken and videos on tv through hdmi but as soon as i switch over to camera mode for live shots or for live streaming so do appear the dreaded lines.
I've looked extensively on google but with no joy,
Any pointers please or suggestions from your followers

Hi there. I hope you can help me. I have a Canon PowerShot SX610 HS that I want to use through OBS. I've plugged the camera into the capture card ehichbis connected to my PC and I can't get it to connect! I just get the screen with the rainbow lines. All the cables are brand new so definitely not the cables. Also my camera screen at the back does not switch off like you mentioned in your video. What am I doing wrong? Please help! Thanks.

Hope you read this... So i have a problem when I plug in my camera, in obs all it shows is the galery, like pictures inside of the as card. the camera is not working. did you have any fix for that?

When I plug a hdmi cable in the Xbox one input port and connect it to the hdmi capture card it comes up with rainbow bars, everything is plugged in, so how do I fix it? I Have the same capture card as u and my camera has a micro hdmi port so I have an adapter that goes from micro hdmi to hdmi, then an hdmi cable going from the adapter to the capture card then into the pc. For some reason it will send the menu screen of my camera and the photos I have on it but it wont show the actual video source. I have an Canon SX600 HS. Any answer??
I have the sony a6100. When i have everything pluged in like it's suppost to be i get the rainbow in a preview. i checked the connections to be good. I checked if i got any HDMI signal to a monitor, wich worked just fine like i imageined. Then i tried if the capture card was broken so i pluged in my computer (gpu) via hdmi directely and i had another screen in the preview window so i know everything is working like its suppost to, but not together. I even reset my camera back to factory settings but still the same issue. i dont know what else to try. pls help

I had this exact problem with my phone and this exact capture card, the capture is new and working and the hdmi is also and working and my type c to hdmi is new, so I dont really know what is the problem. I tried plugging out everything and putting it back again but it doesnt seem to work, please help...

Hi I'm using a Canon SX620 HS camera, with the same video capture card you have and an UGREEN HDMI cable. But it only shows rainbow bars when i try to use my canon camera as webcam to capture video recordings live. I've tested the HDMI cable connecting my camera to my Smart TV. It works fine. But when I connet it to the computer as webcam using the video capture card, all i see are rainbow bars. Please help! How can I resolve this?? :(
Two things here have you tried the Canon eos webcam tool first? also ensure the cables are in the right order. i show in the video below how it should connect

I get this randomly. I have a Nikon D5300, an HMDI/Mini HDMI cord, and a USB capture card. My camera shows up in OBS but it just started losing signal for a second then back to normal. This is happening every time I stream now. My cord and my camera display fine on a TV and don't lose signal, and I have tried the cord and the capture card with a different camera with no issues so I'm not sure where the problem is. Can it possibly be with OBS?
what computer do you have ? it could be the computer not keeping up?
I have a mini HDMI cable hooked up to my camera which goes to the video capture which is going to the usb 3.0. I get rainbow bars just like your example issue. Randomly playing with my camera i am able to get the menu to come up on OSB but I cant get the actual front facing image to appear from my camera. I do not know how to turn off my LCD screen as I believe this is the culprit. I have a Cannon Powershot SX50 HS. Please help!
This camera does not support live view out the box. You need to do some more installs on the camera google: Canon SX50 as a Webcam it will help you

@@ShearGeniussharpening looking at the canon support page for that camera it seems it hasn't worked for a number of people. There might be some detail in here ua-cam.com/video/58muOy79tgo/v-deo.html obs capture the old Canon tool if that works instead of the Webcam utility tool

hello i have a big problem im using the camlink that you have in this video and im using a mirrorles camera panasonic lumix tz95 and when im connecting it, it has the rainbow stuff and when go on galery on th camera is shows the photos that i took but if i want to see live video of my camera it has the raibow stuff pls help

Sounds like your camera might not support Live view
