Really dumb question on the hookups, but I'm brand new to this technology. I'm trying to convert my old VHS tapes to digital. My VCR only allows S-cable for DVD, so I'm using the old standby cables. I have the white and red cable plugged into the VCR line out on the back of the VCR machine and they go into the Yitrox HD Video converter upscaler on input spots matching white and red. Next, I have hdmi out of the upscaler and the other end of the hdmi into the Elgato HD60X. The part I'm not sure about is the final connection: Usb-c is leaving the Elgato HD 60X and going into my laptop's USB 2.0 with cable Elgato supplied in the box. I only see the colored vertical lines, but I know the VCR works and the cables are good. I tried the USB 3.0, but that didn't work either. The Elgato HDMI out is does not have anything attached. Do I need to buy another HDMI cable and connect both the USB and HDMI into the laptop? I don't think that makes sense either. I'm lost. Thank you for the excellent video. I appreciate any tips, tricks, or advice.

Intresting, the dji osmo does not have an HDMI Outport. You are trying to make the usb c into a hdmi out by using a converter. That's a grey area because your trying to make a Hdmi out from something else. Where was the convertor from I think it could be the convertor. It works on your phone because your most likely using the USB c port right?

I also tried another hdmi
Please test the things i refer to in the video it will help locate the issue
Thanks for the info, @zulk Photography Is there any way to avoid the Color bars and instead of color bar just black?
Interesting question let me investigate
@@zulfphotography please let me know a solution.
@@NimalTaz For the quickest solution buy a Atem mini that won't have any funny screens when you switch between cameras
@@zulfphotography if I buy an Atem mini then there is no use of this capture device isn’t it ?
Hi Zulf, great video, however I'm still having issues :( I've got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G6. When I go to the 'gallery' view/ playback I can see what's on the camera, however I don't get a live output when trying, it just reverts to the bars you described again. Any help would be appreciated!
one of the main things to check is if the camera supports live view where you can see the live feed? this is an updated video with more hints to try ua-cam.com/video/j5WYJp8Lh6o/v-deo.html
Thanks Zulf.. awesome video...colorful bars gone but the gallery is showing instead. Not the live feed. Were you able to get a solution Sam? My camera is Panasonic Lumix DMC G5

For me, the problem was 'ctrl over HDMI - disabled' in my DSLR's menu...
Thank you so much !
Have a wonderful day !
doesnt work..
I think i found the solition, you need to have the power cable with the hdmi
what power cable with hdmi?
how do you fix yellow bars
I have a GY-HM250 Live Streaming camera and I'm still seeing bars. Can you help?
Fixed it.
what was the issue in the end?
@@zulfphotography We used a heavy duty HDMI cable initially and changed to regular HDMI cable. No more bars! Checked the heavy duty cable in another environment and it worked fine.
@@agage64 Yes it's weird that seems to be a min issue the cables working elsewhere when tested but no for certain cameras. Hopefully this helps others in this issue to

I use a USB capture card and one way it started showing the rainbow, I cheeked the HDMI cable connecting it to another monitor directly and the monitor worked - meaning the cable is alright.
But when connecting it to the USB capture card it's shows the rainbow (in Streamlabs obs).
What are the settings that I should be checking?
or what else could be the reason?
Currently having the same issue, ordering a new capture card to see if it will work or not
Bro when i selected the usb video in video capture device in obs it is showing black screen not mirroring the screen what to do please help me broo

hi zulf, thanks for the vid, so the model im using is the DJI OSMO action cam. and yes ive been getting the rainbow bars. setup now is the same cheap capcard youre using and a usb-c to hdmi wire to the capcard. it works with my phone when i plug it in but doesnt for my DJI osmo.. help?
Intresting, the dji osmo does not have an HDMI Outport. You are trying to make the usb c into a hdmi out by using a converter. That's a grey area because your trying to make a Hdmi out from something else. Where was the convertor from I think it could be the convertor. It works on your phone because your most likely using the USB c port right?
Problem solved ..... Thanks
❤
I can record 60fps
thanks man, helped my a ton
Great news, whats your setup like?
Switching cams make me angry and is so unnecessary
You mean in a live stream? Having multiple cameras makes it more interesting you can also automatically switch cameras in obs so you don't have to even think about it.
@@zulfphotography yes it is but for reasons. Your recording but done it multiple and multiple of times
@@jaureguid I don't understand what you mean
@@zulfphotography Not everyone will like what u do. Ignore as most ppl find it cool. Thatauto switching camera thing u mentioned is it possible in streamlabs.?
