Great idea, surely covers the areas we are behind. I’m usually pugging keys and always have people take avoidable damage. Feels great that we can actually triage that damage like this!
This is the strong shield part of the 4P which made me love discipline this season, as you were pushing in pugs you can really support the tanks who were surprised to take so much damages. Saw a top player playing full Mastery and Crit, he must playing on some sort of Shields spec, always wanted to try it out ^^
I have to admit, seeing this shield build is somewhat viable has gotten me excited to level my disc priest again. I mentioned this somewhere else but I mainly heal in FFXIV on Scholar and Sage. So I've been looking for something that scratches that shield healing itch in WoW too.
I've been running a somewhat similar build because Voidweaver shadow-style Disc is just so bad at single target healing. That said, I'm coming from previously playing an Oracle Disc giga-shield build lol, so my expectations for shielding were higher. It feels so nice to have Voidweaver's incredible AoE healing without having to perfect-time/manage Oracle buffs, while still have potent Shields that can save a life. I just really miss PW: Life having a 50% max hp threshold.
Hey that’s my bubble build. Glad to see it’s getting around. If you test the bubble voidfiend build the 2 minute cooldown frees up a talent point and should only take about 20 seconds longer for the cd to be ready. I throw the extra talent into harsh discipline to fill the gap in overall gameplay quality of life and helps those bubbles get bigger after the penance bolts.
I also trying right now. I also throw another point in the squid Route away to get a 2/2 harsh discipline. And so far it feels good. And as you said, It is around 10-15 gcds more squid downtime, but that should be coverable by the bubble stuff. So you can weave between Rift + bigger shadowcov & 1 solo rift. The Potential DMG loss from the squid aoe, that I gave up for 2nd harsh discipline, is a aceptable bargain, for my self to get a better approach to my Imagination of class fantasy and more fun while playing.
@@DarkSnickers87 yeah that’s another option I’ve been playing around with as well. I like your train of thought. Today I’ve been running bubble voidbender. The aegis of wrath with two point in borrowed time instead of abyssal reverie feels smooth and seems to line up with a lot of trash and boss abilities. As much as I would love the bubble void fiend build to take off I personally feel the bubble voidbender build is the public pick at least until next patch when we can aim for additional secondary stats since our haste is so important right now.
Tried this build but with oracle. It's a very different playstyle from voidweaver where we have to hold mind blast during aoe bursts. Oracle definitely feels weaker on the atonement transfers but this shield build helped it get through big aoe moments by using rapture and premonition. It's like damage never happened with the giga shields. It also feels better just using penance and mind blast off cooldown and with the longer atonement duration, I just keep everyone topped passively all the time. No problems with single target too.
A talent on a choice node with aegis of wrath that let ur damage absorbs heal as they absorb at a reduced ratio like 50% would be very satisfying for a build like this.
Oh, I've been having fun with similar build in lower keys for couple of weeks now but as an Oracle (mostly bcz I'm in love with oracle glowy eyes), thx for this vid! Should try it as Voidweaver!
I’ve had fun with an oracle light spells only disc. The problem is that even with all the modifiers it’s still lacking in AOE burst heals, smite and penance simply do not heal enough. You have fun critting 3M and 4M PW shields but when it comes to AOE heavy segments you just get destroyed.
That shadow architect (or whatever he's called) that blasts two targets with beams at once is one that continuously surprises me with how nasty it is. I need to rotate every cooldown to make it, and at some point I'm still relying on people pressing personals.
I've run bubbleboi Oracle disc to 10s (my 11s are voidweaver) because I've been playing strictly antimeta for fun - and I've been playing with a guild group since there's no invites out there right now for priest once you're past like 7 pugs. HPS has been completely fine, DPS has been super garbage - but very much agreed that there's a couple places where the healing becomes trivial with the rapture shields - and it wasn't super trivial on VW, despite VW being way better for most AoE situations (my haste is 20% - so I can't have infinite benders/blasts). Swapping out Harsh Discipline is a little tough with how much synergy 6 bolt penance/Weal and Woe has with the void blasts. But it sounds like its probably the best you're going to get of both worlds.
Mighty Jak, today I was going to abandon my holy priest, reroll to a (dirty) hunter, but a dark revelation invited me to test the power of the discipline and begin the path of master light and shadow (as I already did once in BfA). May the light protect my sanity :prayge:
I keep saying it: I hope they move Harsh Discipline more to the middle part of the tree, so it is more accessible to all builds. Playing without it does not feel great. Hope we will get some spec talent tree changes soon.
Other than Dawn, what dungeons would benefit from this build? I don't typically heal, but would like to start - so I don't exactly know what dungeons have a damage profile for this!
while this sounds really great for dawnbreaker, I cannot think of any other key in which the extra shields would beat harsh discipline. Missing HD may make healing on many AOE bursts lackluster. In the end its just 2 points. Some people have also been weaving UP with those points, which is also a situational skill.
I'd love to be able to test this but I've been unable to get a single invite for anything past 11, and my keystone has been ping-ponging from 11-9 for the past 4 days. :(
Hey Disc people! Jak mentions in the video that sometimes you wanna time your Entropic rift explosion for specific points for healing. Apparently if you /cancelaura Entropic Rift , it still triggers the explosion. Obviously this is a DPS loss to trigger it early, and is very niche, but it's worth noting that it works, should you need that last burst heal before some big damage!
Blizz is just seems a bit clueless when it comes to disc. “Hmmm should we do this full shield class or we should give some more reacting power??” Huhh… i think in this state, we just should receive the kyrian spell back instead of this Ultimate peni… whatever. That spell just have to go into shadow as well and we have another pretty good cd and thats it. Anyways… Thanks Jak to testing things so i dont have to burn time to it 😄😄
Ty Jak great video❤. I just want to say how annoying this game as become to me. I literally can't do anything without premade as Holy/Disc Priest. The M+ world is and will always be my favorite thing in wow, but it's a living pain playing as a priest im any keys. I had to wait 3 hours and half in order to get in invite in freaking +10. I hate the fact that all this dungeons have aoe splash damage and 3000 poison and curses. As a Holy priest i struggle so much on keeping people alive during Aoe phases, unless dps use personal defensive CDs. which may be not enough sometimes. I always played a priest and always will, but it's a living nightmare to pug keys or even heal higher ones with premades. It's tiring, and as time passes by, im losing interest in wow. Wish blizzard could do something for once, like giving us poison and curse dispell, and maybe a decent combat ress. Since the only one that blizzard gave us is required to kill ourselves in order to ress😅. Sorry for my english and ty again for the priest content. Love you Jak❤
I think Oracle disc is underrated. It certainly can't blast through damage like VW can, but you can definitely keep a group up through tough content. I'd LOVE to see a video that explores some different scenarios for maximizing Premonition in an Oracle disc build.
Unfortunately it’s not underrated, I’ve tried to make it work and the attonement healing difference between the two hero talents is just too big. Oracle is very fun but you just don’t have enough moment to moment throughput.
@@JonoWins that's because you're just comparing both talents' ability to push through damage with atonement ramps. Yes, VW is going to get you a higher HPS, but a lot of the stuff Jak talked about in this video, especially shields, Oracle can do better. Oracle brings a lot more to the table than atonement throughput.
I feel like oracle does fine in raids, but I can't really see an use in m+. A lot of strength from both specs come from the passives. For oracle its longer atonements and stronger penances. For voidweaver its higher atonement transfer. While longer atonements (with less output) work fine in raids, you dont get much value from that in m+. Even the instant radiances dont really make it worth.
@@willian3673 you get way more out of your shields with Oracle: 5% more baseline over VW, and an extra 30% on yourself. Combine that with Aegis of Wrath and Premonition, and you can get HUGE shields. The first premonition also gives you a mini rapture, which gives you a mini ramp cycle outside of your normal cycle.
Was gonna come here and say just this--I think Jak and others are really undervaluing Oracle, and continue to. Yes, VW does bigger atonement ramps. But the shorter atonements, the lack of overheal protection, and the weaker shields have kept me going back to Oracle repeatedly for more consistent output. And my ass has been saved so many times, both in 10s (i hate m+ and don't go above 10s, don't care about that content) and in mythic raids, but the instant cast pw radiances from premonitions. and in a raid setting, the free prayer of mendings are just a free, passive 3-4% of your healing. all things that just get swept aside by the meta crowd and their "BuT iT DuZ LesS DaMAge"
