Extremely interesting. Got me thinking if I use my PWR not optimal (and other things...). BIG thumbs up for this kind of video! Loved your analysis of healing Ky'vexa, too
A Discipline Priest is built to deal damage in order to heal-no damage means no healing. This makes it challenging at times, especially if you start your rotation incorrectly or fail to use your major cooldowns at the right moment.
Anub, last boss Ara-Kara, and last boss in Siege have been where I've *really* had to plan my gameplay out as Disc, and even on mistweaver too. I actually find those fights with the exception of Siege dps shenanigans (they don't use defensive on dots and die, sorry not sorry!) easier than most now. It's darn near muscle memory. The one thing I've had to hold myself back from doing is dropping both pain suppression charges too close to that boss pull. I always end up needing one either for a hunter or a shaman.
@@saltyspitoon792 If there is one boss were Disc can struggle its defiently last boss Siege. Having the dots coming out when moving to next platform without having anything to hit can be rough. It useally comes down to the dps having a brain and use their defensives. I dont know what levels in M+ you are playing at mate but saying ”its so easy” is pure trolling /ragebaiting xD
i hate the last boss on siege, mostly cuz of as u said, dps having no brain. also started hating bringing rogues to that key as at least on a 13 which is the highest ive timed, rogues that i had in there were almost one shot by the dot so i had to dispell them instantly and pray the other dps was using something. im not a priest atm tho, was on s3-s4 df (and hpala too) but currently mainly playing resto sham
One thing to note, that Ardent defender on 1st boss you mentioned procced the ppal, it didn't, if it procs it'd set you to 15% hp(roughly 17% if pala has inspired guard talent specced) and he lived at like 2% or something. It barely didn't proc the cheat death effect.
It must be a blessing and a curse being able to heal at this level. On one hand, doing this kind of stuff is awesome and very difficult. But anything less than this must feel like a drag and afk for him XD. Impressive as hell. Lots of knowledge checks required too.
I love the fact that you,ll get 1 team ~"The healer doesn do enough healing at 700-800hps" while healers in these high keys almost do less / equal to that in keys 3 times higher than the key your in,
Hey Jak, your videos are top notch! I really enjoy watching them even though I haven't played on retail for, like, 5 years or so. Cool topics, great articulated delivery, very high quality all in all.
What addons or setup makes it show the damage prediction on the unitframes? Like when a frame suddenly turns to red from green in prediction for incoming damage? Honestly, even if you are a really good healer, pugging is usually not enough because people still make mistakes from left to right and mess up the mechanics. This video kind of proves it that running any 14+ in mythic or more can be viable for many classes as long as you have a coordinated group that you play with regularly. It is difficult to find these kinds of people in the WoW world.
I am starting to think some, one-shot abilities might need stop scaling after some point or there should some diminishing returns for mobs which casting like more than 2 at virtually the same time at one player (not necessarily on this dungeon but rather generally), because at that point you are basically warrantying one shot that has nothing to do with skill or scaling, you are just messing around with the player making their life miserable and wasting their time. I don't just speak theoretically i have had people getting targeted by one-shot abilities 4 times in a row that why i am saying this, on double pulls with lust up and everyone pressed their defensives, 2 people still died, and since i checked what killed them i don't think this was tuning issue, i mean not numbers directly just this, ultra focus all damage to a single person.
Disc is a really strange one. On one hand, it has a super strong heal abilities and CDs, which might really blast, but on the other hand, it might easily ruin your key if people make mistakes, because you have to be prepared for any kind of damage group might take. And if you weren’t, well… I believe disc is a very hard to use well even in a pre-made groups. I mean, I see a lot of discs in queue now and I believe people shouldn’t force it only because they’ve seen it in a top 50 of m+.
you're overthinking it way too much. some people are really good at playing disc in pugs, the way its tuned right now makes it quite easy. what you're describing is disc when it's not strongly tuned
@@liamdavies2823 The problem here is the "some people" part. The vast majority of disc players are not that good, and it makes it really hard to recover from mistakes. The way disc scales in terms of skill (both as disc and group) compared to a more straight forward healer is very different, and using the wrong skill at the wrong time has much bigger consequences than others. For Disc to really work well, you have to either be very good at it, have a very good group or both. That will not be the case in most PUGs. Personally, having played disc myself and tried x amounts of disc healers in my runs as tank, I'd say it's not worth the risk just for the potential of getting a good one when the odds are as low as they are. If I want a healer with damage I'd just go with MW instead which has far more reliable healing output and possibly even more damage. Yes you lose out on pain sup. and PI, but generally they are not used well enough to make it worth it anyway. They might be tuned well atm, but its still not so much better that I'd risk bringing one unless I knew them. Disc is a high-risk / possibly slightly higher reward* *If played at a high skill level
@ we must be having quite different experiences. I refuse to invite mistweavers at the moment, they all seem to be awful. They’re just the people who can’t play disc lol. I’m still yet to encounter a disc who is ruining keys this season, I have a disc alt around 602 that I have zero issue pugging 8s However to my 8-11 keys I’m taking discs which are alts of 2.6k+ mains, I’m maining dev evoker so I won’t be pushing into the 12 and up region until I am at least 630 and maybe that’s where I’m more likely to encounter a bad disc who climbed the key levels too quickly. From personal experience I would say that a pres is much much riskier than a disc, mw is riskier, even resto sham is because lots of idiots seemed to reroll it with no clue how to manage mana
Is it not better to radiance > void wraith > MB > penance. Or should i always cast radiance after the MB. I prefer to get the attonements out before i start my window
if you radianced first you'd have to radiance again after to make sure your rift detonates with atonements up. Sometimes on trash packs Ill just be sending my cds as I get em but when Im preparing for big damage I always Squid>Blast>Radiance
Its funny the loud silence on the meta this season, every other season we had every dratnos of the game complaining on dh and druid, this season its "balanced". I still wonder how that key would happen without that comp.
This dungeon would be SO MUCH more manageable if the spell queieng wasnt so wonky. The 2nd boss + the last boss erosive spray happen at such strange intervals sometimes
bigwigs seems to be off for the second boss. i actually wrote down all abilities and times and basically made my own boss mod and i put it just under my monitor and watch a combat timer when i do that boss lmao.
hey jak, i see 38% haste when key starts, which is considerable high :D why is he still stacking this much ? wouldnt 20-22k haste be enough and then go for mostly vers > crit ?
How was it healed? I know this answer before even watching the video: Radiance -> Mind blast -> Void blast -> Void blast -> Void blast -> Void blast -> Void blast -> Void blast -> Void blast Ofc i'm a bit exagerating, but its still sad to see that the best healing spec is the one that requires the least skill and to virtually click 3 buttons
Thats the idea, if technically wrong. Going out of LOS causes the cast to cancel, so the mini boss tries again. He keeps trying until there's a succesful cast (which the group uses to get it on a specific target: the DK)
You mean when the tank pulls, the retri blasts every CD on planet earth into the boss, gets oneshot, then the mage immediately timewarps? Probably the opposite of that!
