The original and the 2002-2007 will forever remind me of this show. So grateful I got an opportunity to visit Pin Oak Court and meet an actual resident of the place 😊.
I like how simple the 1st theme is and Barry's vocals double tracked. I think i would have liked it more if i started watching it in 86 but i wasn't around then.
My favourite version of Neighbours theme is performed by Janine Mauder. That was definitely my childhood memories of Watching Neighbours every weeknights on Channel Ten from 2002-2007
The Janine Maunder version is the one I remember from my childhood in 2006 on TV2. While I wasn't really into the show, I still know which theme song I heard. And it definitely wasn't any of the other ones. I honestly didn't even know there were other ones. Aside from the Sandra DeJong version.
Can we take a moment to respect and admire the fact that Greg Hind put a little tune onto the bit where the stars cross over on the rotating Grundy logo... GENIUS!!... 😎✌🏼
That applies to the BBC version and possibly some European broadcasts. The original Australian broadcasts had the Ten ident shown over that piece of music (the Grundy logo preceded the Ten ident in Australia)
So glad this soap is getting a revival! Been watching this since I was 11! At the time I began watching, Janine’s version was still being used. I was heartbroken when they replaced it.
I agree with everyone on here that the best 2 versions of the theme are Barry 1985 - 1989, and Janinie 2002 - 2007 which looking at all the comments on here seem to also coincide with the best 2 era's of the show. Nothing since for me is as good as those 2 and if I had to push for one it would be Janine's. I feel like Barry's was the introduction to the chirpy, comedy and good feeling neighbours started as, and Janine's was the completion where neighbours really do become good friends, I feel the storylines in that period echoed that as well.
The original theme is the best by far, but the one I like most from my era is 2003, it's so good.... over the years there have been theme tunes to make you feel proud to be a fan, and theme tunes to make you feel embarrassed to be a fan & have me reaching for the remote control to turn it down because my parents would say I was watching a childish show. Like 2013-2014...Thanks for putting this up by the way, very good.
He’s the best they should use his singer for the finale when all the other actors are coming back be sad as show was great 80s and early 90s after that I stopped watching.
I've never watched it but my family used to watch it and seeing it on tv. Greg Hind and Jannine Maunder opening is very too its era of it's time theme. Dame farewell neighbers.
My absolute favourite is the first one ... takes me right back to Mrs Mangle, Bouncer, Jim ... the legend that was neighbours, Helen Daniels, Madge, Ilene, Des, Mike ... and on and on!!! Such a good time in my life. Good to hear the latest two getting back to the actual tune:) it’s started to be almost totally different x
Okay this is weird. I just searched for "Neighbours Theme Metal Version" and the only one I could find was literally a day old! This video was the next recommended video, and your comment is the top comment!
The personal best for me is 1985-1989 - because that's when I was glued to watching Daph, Des, Helen, Jim, Paul, Gail, Max, Maria, Mrs Mangel, Jane, Scott, Charlene, Julie, Eileen, Madge, Henry, Clive, Danny, Shane, and so on. I was young and optimistic - and so was the show. Unforgettable. Lovely to see Des and Jane marry for the 35th anniversary. I tuned in specially.
Heard Bonnie's theme the first time watching Neighbours. Quite good, but my favorite one's the 2002-07 theme, great voice and spanning a lot of good stories. The original feels much suited for a full-length song than a theme.
37 years of so many wonderful years, I was only one when this wonderful soap opera started. So many amazing people that have came and went through the many eras on ramsay street. Hopefully one day they'll bring it back and reliase it's a constitution of Australian tv as well as worldwide.
Yes indeed! It was a disgrace initially (a bit like Eastenders jazzy version) though very much of the era. However, it's now the one I remember most as it probably coincides with the time I watched the show most. My partner and I are 41 and if we ever hum or sing the tune it's the version we relate to the most. I have to say that Janine Maunder's version beats them all hands down. I hadn't heard it before the finale and it's brilliant.
@@sebastianohalloran9093 I must be the only one who actually liked the remixed EastEnders theme tune. I loved it. (Never watched the actual program though.)
My wife has been watching this from the very first episode she was nearly 6 and thinks the best song for it was the very first one by Barry Crocker all the rest just will never be as good as the original and Scott and Charlene were her favourites
IMO the original Barry Crocker themes were the best. I remember hating the Greg Hinds theme when that first came out! Completely forgot about the Sandra DeJong version, I liked that too. Shame the way TV announcers talk over theme tunes nowadays!!
Barry Crocker's original theme 1985-1989 was the best. I admit the last time I watched it avidly was way back when Harold Bishop was still around (sometime in 1989/1990). By the time of Greg Hind's version 1992-1998, I wasn't watching it anymore, nevertheless we still had the TV on in the background, so Greg's version also seeped into my memory. Definitely one of the better theme songs on aussie TV from the 80s and 90s.
Janine Maunder's version is my fav, but I still think the music plays a huge part, Id love to hear Bonnie sing to the music in 2002-2007 as I think she would sound amazing, thanks for sharing this, great memories through all the years.
Goes without saying that the best version is the Sir Barry Of Crocker original, but other than that, it's a tie between Greg Hinds and Bonnie Anderson for me. Her voice is just heaven!
Janine Maunder, Sandra De Jong and especially Bonnie Anderson's ones were synonymous and iconic along with the 1985 and 1992 ones. Bonnie's was quite special though!
Definitely a fan of the second one & the third one the most!!!! I loved the revised, more upbeat Barry Crocker version after episode 1000.... & I loved the jazzy version after that!!!
Trivia Wendy Stapleton sang the 1999-2001 theme tune with Paul Norton later appeared as Trixie Tucker who married Lou Carpenter then left him after the Hello Dolly musical flopped. Wendy Stapleton and Paul Norton are married
Janine Maunder for me...a very unique take on a classic theme without trying to copy the original. All versions since hers was changed just don’t have any impact
Was at its prime in the days of Mrs Mangel, Jane, Madge, Dr Clive, Des, Daphne, Eileen, Helen, Jim, Scott, Charlene, Shane and the rest in the mid 80s and the plots were better. Who remembers when they went to search for Mrs Mangels's body in her back garden, when Charlene was terrorised in the caravan she was living in, Mrs Mangel falling off the ladder and loosing her memory, etc?
I grew up with Garth Ploog theme song and 2016 was my first known season. And I didn’t know until a couple years ago that Neighbours have been airing since my parents’ childhood
Sandra DeJong's version is brilliant. I love them all but this stands out. At the time it was current, it sounded like something The Corrs would have out out. I'm gonna miss Neighbours
Thanks for sharing these Andrew. I have surprised myself at just how many different artists had a go at the theme when I have very fond memories of only what turns out is just a few of them. My fondest memories are from Greg Hind's version. I have no recollection of the ones from Paul and Wendy's right through until Garth's version, which must be when my wilderness years came to an end.
I like the male/female duets a lot. I never knew there was more than one. Also like the current and immediately previous versions. Plus the original, of course.

2002 -2007 Janine Maunder is my favourite as I grew up with that version.
Agreed
Me too. I watched Neighbours on BBC One quite a lot back then.
@@sambee8982 that would have been the BBC’s heavily edited 35 second version.
@@boldbeautifulau How do you remember that?
Agreed. I used to watch the show religiously back then on BBC one.
The Greg Hind version was the sexing up of Neighbours in order to maintain interest, and it absolutely worked.
1992-1998 my fav, so uplifting!
I agree without doubt the best of the rest !
janine maunder's will always be my personal favourite
Agreed ❤
Very "breathe in, breathe out"-y ala Passions ^_^
My favourite version of Neighbours theme is performed by Janine Mauder. That was definitely my childhood memories of Watching Neighbours every weeknights on Channel Ten from 2002-2007

Same. I started watching the show a year before her version was retired. Wish it was still being used.
Yes! Hands down.
Same! Excellent version. The way she sings "That's when good neighbours become good friends" is so well done.

The Sandra DeJong version was definitely good. But nothing can beat the Janine Maunder version.

And next year In 2025 Neighbours will celebrate their 40th anniversary in their 40th Season of Neighbours.

2nd only to the original by Barry Crocker 👍

R.I.P Neighbours 1985-2022
07-13 the best for me with 02-07 a close second.
What on Earth were they thinking with the 13-14 version, horrific!
I actually like that version. But not as much as the Janine Maunder version which is my personal favourite. Or the Sandra DeJong version.
2002 - 2007 is decent enough, but you can't beat the original.
Keep coming back to have a listen, just love each theme in a different way 💙 Really going to miss Neighbours 😪
I think 89-92 was the best, but I love 92-98 as well because it reminds me of secondary school.
