It was right Jackie closed the series. She is one of Australia’s greatest actors. The backbone of neighbours for 28 years. Well done Jackie ! Xx
Technically the last words were Karl’s ‘toady watch out’
I agree. Must have been very hard for her.
Was she married to the Doctor Carl character??
Was that a new husband that came in for the booze??
irish actress.
@@jimbanda no thay was Dr carl he got alopeachea in real life and shaved off his hair..
It's bizarre that the show is back in literally 8 days and this endint still makes me cry lol
Same here Xx
Mum and I had watched Neighbours here in Ireland for years and even when Mum's health went into decline last year, she would never miss an episode. Mum died last November and I have found it hard to sit and watch her favourite shows without her. This ending while absolutely beautifully made makes me miss Mum even more. It feels like so many endings but I guess there has always to be hope of new beginnings. Thank you to all the cast of Neighbours down through the years for always bringing so much pleasure to so many, in particular to Mum and me. Thank you for the memories and tears, the laughter and even at times, the frustrations. Most of all, thank you for being all of you. Till the next time........
Your Mam is looking down on you Darragh with love and pride. So glad you both enjoyed watching Neighbours. It has brought so many of us happy memories
Hi ... I lost my mum 15 years ago and it still hurts, neighbours was one of her shows,I Waa never able to watch it without tears, but I had to watch the last one,yes I cried yes I paused it but I watched it cause I know mum was here watching it with me.miss u mum xx
And my mum two watched every day was her lunch time also passed 7 years ago i feel ya
Ahhh Darragh.. Sorry to hear about the death of your Mother. I will be thinking and praying for you xx
@@geraldinemurray585 thank you so much xx
The actress who plays Susan is a class act. The monologue at the end was the perfect way to end the show. Emotional for sure. Thanks Neighbours :-)
youre right!! it was perfect
The Madge Doug Hendrix and toadies wife as ghosts had me in floods of tears this is how you end an institution thank you neighbours for being in all of our lives you will be missed
Same for me. What an amazing touch putting them in the scene. When the ending message ("Thank you for loving us. We love you") came up I sobbed again. This programme meant a lot to me. I was never this moved or sad at the ending of other programmes I liked.
It would've been good if the actors who played Stingray, Ringo and Gary returned also as ghosts. Karl and Susan loved Ringo - he was their Hendrix, before Hendrix. Gary seeing his son and daughter in-law expecting their first child. And Stingray seeing his cousin Toadie happy with new wife Melanie.
@@monalisasmile6629 Those are all great ideas.
@@kittymetal186 thank you 😊
@@monalisasmile6629 depends on if neighbours asked them or they would of agreed to come back
Haven't watch it in over ten years, but have to admit the theme tunes and old photos got me just a tiny bit. The good old days of neighbours!
I admit I hadn't watched Neighbours in years...or perhaps decades. But seeing this brought back so many memories. Oh, Lord...............
I haven't watched Neighbours since the 80's. Just out of nostalgia I decided to have a look at this. I'm in tears now. Bugger you!!
I hadn't watched Neighbours for about 15 years, but once I realised it was the last week got a pang of nostalgia and watched the last week of episodes. It went out in a really classy way. You can tell how much love there is for it from former cast members that so many came back for the last episode, and many of those that couldn't be there in person gave little video clips. Guy Pearce even played a major role in the last 2 episodes. Hats off to him for giving so much time, I'm guessing they weren't paid, or if they were, just standard rates and/ or expenses.
It was a pretty classy soap, and even though I'd stopped watching it, it is sad to see it go. It, along with Home and Away, were both great training grounds for up and coming actors. And it seemed totally fitting that Susan Kennedy gave the final monologue.
Nearly. every Aussie celeb to breakthrough in the States in the last 30 years had appeared on Neighbours or Home and Away
@@tylerkochman1007 Yeah, it certainly seems that way. Soaps are a great training ground for young actors, and those 2 aussie soaps seem to have a really high success rate when it comes to having good success after they've left.
Guy Pearce actually had big roles in both Neighbours and Home and away.
I saw the very first one
Same here. Have not watched neighbours for over 20 years but had to tune in one last time.
Same since year 12 probably! Btw what happened to Carl he seems so different.
I was already crying but Susan’s monologue made me blub like an absolute baby! I still can’t believe it’s truly over. Neighbours started the year I was born and so has always been a part of my life and it feels like I’m in mourning right now, which sounds extreme but it’s always been there and I can’t believe it won’t be there anymore. I’m just glad everyone got their happy ending.

Me too, in mourning, it was a part of our lives, I remember going to school and being told not to be late as neighbours was on here at lunchtime. My parents have passed since 2 years now during covid pandemic. It was my mums favorite tv show. Dinner would be on the table, then we would sit and watch neighbours. Now that is gone too, good memories, sad but good memories.
Same, it started when I was born too 😪😪😪
I feel you. I’m in the UK. Not watched this show for years but it was a big part of my life when I was young. It is sad to see it go. I watched the final episode and it brought up the feels for sure.
Well done Jackie, the only one who could have done that monologue. I was sad when their goodbye message came up. We love you too, and thank you to everyone who has been a part of the show. I was born in 1985 and can’t believe it’s been around my whole life
The perfect ending to a perfect blend. I feel like I'm mourning the loss of a loved one. It has been in my life ALL my life.
Look on the bright side: the past and present cast would never have assembled together if the show wasn't going. And you can watch classic clips anytime. The show is never really gone.
A perfect end and speech. I loved how Susan said ' people from afar'. It was as though she was acknowledging the overseas viewers
I loved that too ❤
After watching Neighbours since the very first episode, I was sad to find out it was ending. The last episode was fantastic. I was so emotional. Thanks to all at Neighbours for all your hard work over the years. You have left an amazing legacy 💔
Me too :..
Cheer up.Its coming back
Congratulations to every cast and crew member who has been part of the show over the years. Neighbours has been folklore and passes into soap legend. Goodbye and thankyou x
I didn’t know how the final episode of Neighbours could live up to my expectations, but if anything you surpassed them. Well done to cast and crew for a wonderful 37 years . I watched this show from the very first episode , as a young teenager and now I watch the final episode as a 50 year old… gonna miss yea .
Beautiful final scene, her voice over speech was perfect , sad to see it end and awesome to see the classic old casts together again & how they merged all the theme tunes in the closing
before the episode even finished i actually said to my mum who i was watching the Finale with at the time that when it ends they need to go through all the old Theme tunes, when it reached the Credits i couldnt believe it actually happened
That's when good Neighbours... will always become good friends forever.
My family used to watch this series, and for me... i love everything Australian-related when it comes to Ramsay St. and Neighbours.
R.I.P Neighbours (1985-2022)
When Susan said “I love you” to Karl and he said “ I love you too” you can tell that they were saying that to each other as Jackie and Alan as friends obviously , a great on screen relationship and off screen friendship.
Goodbye neighbours thank you so much I will miss you .
To all the neighbours cast present, cast past and crew. You probably don't really know how much of an impact you've made on people's lives all around the world. I'm absolutely gutted that it has all come to an end. I wish you all the greatest luck for the future. I hope you all have or will find new adventures and jobs in your lives. Still crying...Great finale. Thank you for 37 years of friendship. I started watching Neighbours from day 1, at 3 months old lol with my mum. I love you all so much 💗 I wish you all the best. I pray Neighbours returns one day - perhaps ch 5 will realise their error or another channel will pick it up again. (Andrea from the UK) xx

Absolutely great final, gutted its the end, thank you all cast and crew for 37years
WATCHING this with my grandmother 38 years ago. Stop watching ot came back and always love the show I think it be missed by alot of people
They nailed the final monologue perfectly, and the timing of the original theme was masterful.
Brilliant ending, well done to the writers and the actors. Thank you for so many years of pleasure. Very sad that it is the end of an era; there will never be another 'Neighbours'.
Not ashamed to say I cried multiple times throughout the last ever episode of Neighbours. Such a beautiful way to end the show. So many memorable storylines and characters over the years. Thank you to all the cast and crew who made it so iconic.
Thank you for posting the full version of the ending. In the UK, Channel 5 sped up the credits for some reason so we didn't get to hear all the themes and they went too fast to read the names. They also omitted the final shot of the cast and crew. I'm glad it's included here because they all deserve to be in the final shot.
I know at the end it was as if Channel 5 couldn't wait to get rid of it, most disrespectful..
Damn that's so bad, considering they were the ones that effectively pulled the plug.
I dont know what version you watched. But i'm in th UK and watched it on channel 5.
And it showed the entire credits including all the cast pics.wasnt sped up at all.was the same as in this video.
@@gavst79 Shall I admit both versions thanks to you tube! I watched Channel 5's version on catch up though and definitely before the end of the credits they had plastered other show advertisements up.. Glad it was a different experience watching it as it went out!
Not quite correct. The closing credits on the UK broadcast was just 35 seconds (Fremantle distributed a 35 second closing to all international markets). In Australia, the full 65 second theme played out (as seen here).
5’s broadcast didn’t contain Greg Hind’s 1992 theme, and it jumped back and forth to Janine Maunder’s 2002 theme twice 😂. The aerial street shot at the end of the episode is also different to the Australian version.
When I visited Melbourne from the UK a few years ago I had the very lucky chance to visit the Neighbours set and walk around Ramsay Street - wow, watching this final episode made me cry so much!
So sad it’s over. Been watching since my nearly 36 year old son was a baby, my little bit of daily escapism and me time. Thanks for the memories ❤️🙏❤️
I'm also 36 and would watch this regularly with my mum. It was exactly that for us, a little bit of escapism to sunny Erinsborough for 30 mins a day.
Same. I was expecting my 1st daughter when it started in the UK. I can remember lying on the bed watching it 😥
@Nannie G I’ve got the finale saved on the Sky box and have already revisited once! Will dip in from time to time to get my fix. Missing it already 😢

I will miss those nights where me and fam ate dinner whilst watching this fabulous show - what a great way to close the series
Your fam were losers then, no offence. Anyone who watched Neighbours and Home & Away was a loser.
I could picture myself watching at that age when she talked about each resident. Eventually the emotions boiled over and I burst out in reminiscent laughter. Thanks Jackie. Will miss you all.

I have not watched Neighbours for 30 years but this was a perfect ending to the show I loved in the 80's.... x
An absolutely monumental finale! Perfect! I grew up watching neighbours in the 80s. We all used to chat about the cliff hanger endings in the classroom. These characters were part of my life for so many years. It was so emotional to see them all again. Well done! A magnificent send off!
Wow, this did bring tears. I have grown up with Neighbours and it is very sad to see it end. I am very sad to see it end but then All good things... Thank you for the great show.
I watched it from the beginning as a teenager getting in from school. As a young adult I'd video it so I could watch it getting in from work. As a Mum I'd watch it whilst my baby napped, as an empty nester I'd catch it at lunchtime. And through covid it was a safe constant escape from the strange world and confusing times we were, and are, still living in. Thanks to all the cast and crew. I doubt I'll ever watch another programme for 36 years again!
Not watched this show for over 30 years but now I think I'm going to miss it....... Great to see S, C , M and J all back together. Great times!

It's going to be weird tomorrow night at 6.30 that's for sure. Watching Neighbours has been a part of my nightly routine for the past 37 years.
The monologue and the show was beautiful. They ticked all the boxes and gave us a wonderful send off. Loved Mike and Jane taking us around the homes (hadn’t watched since about 2001 and didn’t recognise the new sets so it was nice they clarified whose home was whose). The whole thing was joyous. Thank you Neighbours.
Mike was added in that scene via the wonderful tech. He wasn't really there.
Best written Finale to a show I’ve ever know. Thank you for everything, Neighbours has been my every day since I was tiny and for 29 years I have watched it and never missed an episode. I’ve cried for weeks overit coming to an end. Although I wish it weren’t the end, what a way to go out, it was just perfect. I still have hope it can come back. Beautiful way to end, loved the Karl and Susan moments.
Even as a 45 year old, I had to watch this. Neighbours was such a part of mine and my friends teens. Every evening after school it was Neighbours time, we’d all talk about it the next day. The only other sad thing I feel now is that I’m so old! We loved you Neighbours!
Brilliant finale, so well written, so great to see so many cast past and present. Thank you and God Bless to you all.
Neighbours has been around since I was born. It was my childhood. It brings back so many amazing memories. I really loved this show. So sad it has to be brought to an end. Thank you for the many, many years of your lovely programme. TV won't be the same without you. Genuinely upset that this has happened.
I will forever be sad that something that has been constantly there for nearly my entire life, is now over, but as finales go, that was off the charts amazing. So many great memories from the show growing up, and to see how far so many that started on the show have gone too is very special to see.
It would be great to see it back in some form in the future, but if it isn't then know I'd like to thank the cast & crew, both past & present, for being such a big part of my life. 😊
Apologies for the rogue years I was estranged from the show, but just like so many of the characters, I always seemed to find my way back to Ramsey Street again when life tried to take me on a different path!
I look forward to seeing what everyone does going forward, too many great actors from the current cast that we aren't going to see many of them going onto great things elsewhere in the future.
I cried at the start, half way through. But at the end when susan was talking i was crying like someone in my family had pasted. Been watching since mid 90s ish. Me and my mum talked about it alot. I am so sad its no more. 😭😭
Used to watch it in my school days, nice to see the old characters making a comeback.

Watching this again... since it was such an excellent finale. As an American I have watched too many finales of our long running soaps. None can compare to how this, even though sad, is basically a celebration . So from one of those watching from afar....Thanks Australia!
Aaaaaahhhhhhh! I’ve grown up with neighbours and although I stopped watching as I got older, it was an important memory of my childhood. What a lovely way to end it 💕

Thank you for bringing us this iconic show, we are so fortunate to have had Neighbours for 37yrs not many shows last that...
People saying they didn't see the point of Kylie and Jason being there, at least they returned to what started their careers. They didn't say nah we're better than that show so we won't return, they at least made the effort to return for the final... Thank you Kylie and Jason for reprising your rolls and being part of Neighbours final, you are both appreciated for making that effort not all big time stars would return to what made them famous in the first place...
Am 48 years old and watched neighbours growing up and still watch it . Sad it could not be saved
Brilliant finale! Trending number 1 on Twitter. The Mike and Jane story was the best. Please reconsider - don't end it!
Never going to happen
I'm annoyed by it, is Jane really this dumb to break up a well developloped building relationship with Clive, to go back to someone that has hurt her dozens of times in the past
@@MarkWhich It was always Plain Jane & Mike
Yeah, Mike and Jane will be immortalised as the core of the show, and since that's the era in which I watched Neighbours I'm 100% cool with that. Kylie and Jason/Charlene and Scott, may have been the bigger stars, but Mike and Jane's story was arguably more compelling and memorable.
They didn't end it, Channel 5 pulling their funding did. Only a network willing to foot the bill can bring it back unless Neighbours is paid for by the Australian government.
I’ve never seen this show at all, but as someone who’s watched soap operas all my life, this was a textbook-level perfect final scene.
Congratulations to all the families and friends of Ramsay St. May you live on in our hearts as our forever Neighbours.

Susan's monologue broke me. And, when i saw Sonya... Dude, this is heartbreaking. I'll miss you all.
Got to be honest haven't watched it for a few years, but had to watch the last episode,,Was balling remembering the first episode on bbc1 the family and friends we had ,Thank you Neighbour's ,it's certainly been a journey..
I started watching Neighbours with my Nana in the 80s, and watched all through the 90s even when I couldn’t watch with her. It’s been a while since I watched regularly (life, ‘ey?) but I couldn’t miss the finale for a nostalgic punch in the feels.
Great to see so many people who “got their start” on the show return (I see you, Guy Pearce, ha bloody legend), but also I just really feel for all those who were currently working on the show and who now don’t have that work. You’ve all handled this with such class, and I applaud the way you wrapped this up not just for the fans but for yourselves.
As someone who works with Jackie in the audio medium, I think the choice to have her deliver the final monologue was a stroke of genius, coz she’s just so damn good at it! She’s such a tremendous actor, and I can’t wait to be In the studio again with her.
While it’s sad Neighbours has ended, y’all can be really proud that you turnt it - right to the very end.
Go well.
Neighbours ended in a very classy, reflective, emotional way, using the same reminiscing monologue that was used for the final episode of Falcon Crest many years ago, only Neighbours managed to do it even better than Falcon Crest did. They both used the matriarch to deliver to reflection (Jane Wyman and Jackie Woodburne) and while both were heartfelt and made me cry, Neighbours truly celebrated the past and present characters and it was touching to see the part with some of those who had died appear briefly (Madge, Doug, Hendrix, Sonia and Finn). Although I believe they could have at least shown a photo or video of Craig McLachlan, overall it was an amazing ending that felt true to the spirit and history of Neighbours. Now we need to urge the rights owners to continue the DVD releases, we particularly need a DVD release of the final batch of episodes with all the returning characters with the very emotional final episode included.
There were several people missing, not just Craig.
And as Melanie's former boyfriend, I guess it wasn't a priority for him to be at her wedding.
Some more "ghosts" would have been nice. Todd Landers for example. Or videos from Connor, Pam Willis, Brad Willis, Bronwyn, and so many others.
It took me a couple of rewinds to recognize all the videos, especially Billy!
@@MsGrandunion They had Todd in the scrapbook which Izzy was reading. But I wanted to see Phoebe come back for the last episode with their daughter Hope.
@@MsGrandunion Craig McLachlan wanted to be in the finale but he was not allowed. He claims it was because of sexual assault charges that he was cleared of for the snub. Considering they didn't even show Henry at all in any photos, or flashbacks I would have to agree with him that they wanted to wipe him completely.
@@lindab424 Very sad when he has been found innocent.
@@ianhirst1148 Totally agree. To not let appear in the final episode was bad enough but to have not acknowledged the character of Henry Ramsay in any way was disgraceful in my opinion.

I'm going to miss Neighbours so much ❤
I usually hate endings of a series but this is 🤌🏻 *chefs kiss*
Things you may have missed in this scene:
Joel's scenes were filmed totally separately as he is not seen interacting with any other character and is always seen standing alone.
Mike and Scott/Charlene are not seen together in the same shot as the actors couldn't film on the same day. At the end you'll see Jane looking up at him on the balcony but he is far to the left to avoid being seen in the same shot as Scott and Charlene. In the same episode, it is made out that they are reintroduced and go for a hug but you don't see it.
When the balloon bursts, you will see Harold on the ground looking up with the others, but when it bursts, he is back on the balcony!
I need a life.
Watched the show from ‘87 til about 2001 and that’s the first time I realised it’s “perfect blend” (always thought friend!). The finale was perfect (even had cricket being played). Well done writers you nailed it.

Just a wonderful, emotionally charged finale. I managed to keep it mostly together until Susan's monologue. It's funny, years go by without friends or family visiting loved ones on the street and then they all turn up at once! Still, a wedding is a fantastic excuse for a street party which is a fave on Ramsey Street. Loved it.
A great way to wrap it all up. Had us rewinding when the adverts came on to try and name everyone that returned. Have watched since i was a kid and has been our dinnertime tv every night and recorded if we were out. Dont know how were going to fill the gap.
It was a good moment to see Paul reunite with Scott and Charlene.
I can't believe it's really over. I'm 34 but since always watched this in the 90s as a child with my grandmother. She passed away 10 years ago but seeing this brought back so many good times. Thank you Neighbours. Love from Dublin, 🇮🇪
4:11 It’s only flippin’ Philip Martin sadly missing his lovely butterscotch shirt but still a very welcome surprise. Would have liked to see more of him but damn, there were so many returning members I half expected portals to start opening up down the street like the finale of Endgame. Neighbours Assemble, anyone? Really rather impressive work given the sudden dramatic axing of the show and though there were more happy endings than Return of the King they certainly went out with style. Sad that from Monday all we get is bloody Cash in the Attic but if that’s Channel 5’s definition of “new, fresh, home grown entertainment” then who are we to argue?
Oh, and all those Home and Away “new beginnings” adverts? Give me a break, guys, it’s just a thinly veiled attempt to say “Please don’t forget there is still another Aussie soap on 5!” Flamin’ charlatans …
I agree. Neighbours was one of the top viewed programmes on channel 5. Doesn't make sense that that was the one that they chose to axe.
