This song evokes such happy memories! When I was 9 I used to listen to this wonderful song on my transistor radio while riding my Schwinn in Pecatonica, Illinois! Now I'm old, and sadly, I'm the last member of my family; the first to go was my older brother Kurt, who was KIA in Vietnam in 1969. RIP Mom, Pop, Sis, and both of my brothers, I love and miss you all so much it hurts. See you all when I get there.
I know what you mean ,but I’m a little bit older than you.I lost my partner of 20 years in 1990 my brother 6 weeks after. Then they slowly all started to go my little sister last year got cancer and I told her that I forbid you to die and leave me I was the older one and should go first. The little brat would never listen to me she passed away 5 months after. She had all my 45s and was cleaning up one day and pushed the box under a table and there was a register vent there all the records warped . But I have this to listen to and get to remember everyone and the great time and life we all had together. And in all that time to hear and see the music and world change around us.We have been quite lucky.I’m going to give them all an ear full for leaving me behind while their probably all dancing and having a good time with out me. Miss them all but we did have a great life and the music was part of it.
@@gilberthill9617 Hey Gilbert! I'm sorry for all of your losses. I have found that the death of our loved ones is the only pain that never ceases to ache. Oh no, not the 45s, they would be worth a lot of money today! But don't worry too much about them; after all, you really can't use them in Heaven. One other thing that I have discovered during the past 6-plus decades I've been alive: Other than our loved ones, nothing in this fleeting life really matters. Take care, my fellow Boomer!
My name is Rosemary and I'm 73 yo. This song describes me perfectly. It's like the writer knew me personally. I believe my husband bought the only 3 copies sold. He was a Vietnam vet. I met him 2 weeks after he got home. Once we met we never parted for 43 gloriously happy years. I look forward to our reunion. He was gorgeous! Rosie
I'm 20 years old fella from India I found this classic gem because I loves classic music. This is such an incredible song still spreading its magic after 50 years 🧡🥂
There are many old but gold songs that most ppl doesn't look up or listen to coz they're "old" and that prevents ppl discovering such good songs that are just 100% talent with no auto tunes and such, unlike these days. I, myself, am a teen of this generation but mostly listens to 60s-90s rock songs. Hell, I barely even listen to K-pop and other pop songs from popular artists that ppl at my age listens to.
My mothers name was Rosemary, my dad knew her for decades, they finally hooked up and this song describes her exactly, he had such a love for her, never seen it ever again. Wow. Ray & Rosemary forever in the heavens dancing with the moon & stars. I miss my parents!
My first crush was called Rosemary when I was in Junior High back in 1970. Too bad she didn't really like me tho but that's okay. I love this song just the same.
I’m 59 and my best friend when I was a kid was my sister six years older, I was so lucky. My earliest memories as a little boy are listening to the top 30 run down with her every Sunday. So I remember this song 😊
Just great memories! My life was so carefree back then. Living on St Pete bch. I paid just $150 a mth for a 1 bedroom furnished duplex just 2 blocks from the beach. Partied almost every night. Walked the beach. Met so many wonderful tourists. This song really took me back. Ty!! ❤
The person in the video isn't the singer whose voice you can hear. He's miming to the vocals of a famous session singer called Tony Burrows. He once appeared on same edition of Top of the Pops singing in three different bands, this, White Plains and the original Brotherhood of Man. He also sang the Pipkins song, "gimmie dat ting" and later the vocals for Beach Baby by First Class.
This is Andy Locke others are Wally Scott, David Kerr-Clemson and Eddie Richards. He is the singer you hear. Tony Burrows did the original but would not go on tour. The original band members were then replaced with these guys. If you listen to the Tony Burrows version you can hear the difference. In my opinion Andy Locke’s version is better. There were many members of Edison Lighthouse at different times.
Absolutely!! Sunday mornings. Also school days my mum used to play this and my brother and I would dance around the house in various stages of getting dressed! Sweet memories.
My older brother just sent this link too me. Brings back many happy memories of dancing around the transistor radio in my bedroom, as a young girl back in the 70's. My dad also used to sing this to me. It used to embarrass me something awful back then, especially in front of people. How I'd love to hear him sing it to me now....
Lovely hearing the recording; beginning of 2022, I joined Edison Lighthouse (who are still going) as their first regular keyboard player - having lots of fun learning all these great ol' songs that they perform. Also very interesting to learn how the industry worked 'back in the day'
@David Richman found this in Wikipedia: In 1973 Brian Huggins and Peter Butt, of the band Crush, were approached by their management to takeover the touring of Scandinavia as Edison Lighthouse. Brian Huggins acquired the rights to the name Edison Lighthouse in 1974. Huggins has been fronting the band ever since. The current Edison Lighthouse line-up is as follows: Brian Huggins − lead vocals (1973-present) Peter Butt − bass guitar (1973-present) Mark Forton − drums (2020-present) Rick Piggott − lead guitar (2022-present) Matthew Bason - keyboards (2022-present)
@@deenaRDH so the vocals on the recording are Tony Burrows. The guy lip synching in THIS video is a guy named Paul Vigrass who was the singer in a "second edition" of Edison Lighthouse that was formed after Tony Burrows left, and all the other guys were replaced. That second edition lip synched this video. The third edition, with Brian Huggins et al hadn't been formed yet. That third edition still exists and performs today, with two of the 1973-guys and three modern-day replacements.

This is one of many hits on AM radio, back in the late 60's. We were spoon fed this music. Meanwhile, FM was broadcasting in stereo and had a growing audience of "underground artists" like Led Zepplin and Deep Purple.
I am Japanese. I am sorry- I finally learned about this song and GS from an Australian 10 years ago. I thought it was recent, but it was 1970. It's a familiar song that is not outdated.

It is lovely. I had such a lovely, safe childhood and everyone looked to meet and live happily ever after. Good values. People knew who was a bit dodgy.
My grandmother passed away a few days ago and her name was rosemary. My wife made a montage with an acoustic version of this song so I had to come to hear the actual song for the first time. Good song. Rip grams!
I was just a little girl in the 70's. I was born in 1968, and when this song was on the charts in the early part of 1970, I was 1 year old, and I turned 2 that August. Even though the 70's was the decade of my childhood, I absolutely love the music from that decade. "Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes" is one of my favorites. Edison Lighthouse does a great job with this song. I also love other 70's artists like David Cassidy (my 70's heartthrob😍😍😍😍😍), The Carpenters, Bobby Sherman, The Jackson 5, and The Osmonds. Today's pop/rock music doesn't even compare to the pop/rock music of the 70's! I wish we all could go back to that decade!
I absolutely love this song, my mom's name was Rosemary and she was so cool when I was a kid in the 70s! We always sang and danced together in the house and she completely loved this song!! Great memories from a lot simpler time! I love and miss you mom!!!

They were fun decades - young people don’t have that anymore, although they feel they have something special, I suppose.
@@memyself1566 No, they were special decades. They have, and will, stand the test of time. They were days of great innovation. I don't think we can see their like again

Grew up listening to this, Dad used to play this track everyday. May his beautiful soul rest in peace ❤
Wow, 53 years have passed, and it seems like yesterday the moment the first few notes played!
It was a great time to be young and innocent with our whole life ahead of us!❤

I found this because my millennial sister was playing it oh the cycle of life
thanks for sharing your memories. They sound so lovely.
God bless you Mr.Giusto
My name is Rosemary and I'm 73 yo. This song describes me perfectly. It's like the writer knew me personally. I believe my husband bought the only 3 copies sold. He was a Vietnam vet. I met him 2 weeks after he got home. Once we met we never parted for 43 gloriously happy years. I look forward to our reunion. He was gorgeous! Rosie

Was also in the film Shallow Hal 😃

Just great memories! My life was so carefree back then. Living on St Pete bch. I paid just $150 a mth for a 1 bedroom furnished duplex just 2 blocks from the beach. Partied almost every night. Walked the beach. Met so many wonderful tourists. This song really took me back. Ty!! ❤
One of my favourite songs of all time. This song is absolutely amazing. Still listen to it today.
I love how the singer is so certain about his love for her. You can see it in his eyes.
He’s sure Purty too! 😉
It's Andy Locke, who was a guitarist in several groups.
He's not the singer of the song. The real singer was Tony Burrows.

My dad also used to sing this to me. It used to embarrass me something awful back then, especially in front of people. How I'd love to hear him sing it to me now....

Ahhh, you just made me cry....
Lovely hearing the recording; beginning of 2022, I joined Edison Lighthouse (who are still going) as their first regular keyboard player - having lots of fun learning all these great ol' songs that they perform. Also very interesting to learn how the industry worked 'back in the day'
Are there any original members left? I also like It’s Up to Petula by them.
@David Richman found this in Wikipedia:
In 1973 Brian Huggins and Peter Butt, of the band Crush, were approached by their management to takeover the touring of Scandinavia as Edison Lighthouse. Brian Huggins acquired the rights to the name Edison Lighthouse in 1974. Huggins has been fronting the band ever since. The current Edison Lighthouse line-up is as follows:
Brian Huggins − lead vocals (1973-present)
Peter Butt − bass guitar (1973-present)
Mark Forton − drums (2020-present)
Rick Piggott − lead guitar (2022-present)
Matthew Bason - keyboards (2022-present)
@@py8554 so this is Brian singing and not Tony?
