For close to 4 decades, Neighbours has been a television institution.
Growing up in Australia in the 90's, and more recently working in the Television industry, the news of the Neighbours cancellation is devastating. Not only for the fact that it will no longer be on our screens, but also for the fact that it has been an integral part of the local TV industry in Melbourne.
Though I never had the chance to actually work on Neighbours in my time as a cameraman, I was recently lucky enough to be able to get out to the Nunawading studios in Melbourne, and shoot some behind the scenes FPV shots of all the sets.
After 37 years, it's going to be a tough goodbye as Neighbours airs it's final episode, but we will always have the memories of our good Neighbours, and good friends.

This is fantastic. Thanks for sharing. So gutted about it finishing at the end of this week. It's always been a part of my life since I was a kid in the '80s.

it's not that big. this would've been shot over a few days with different sets up each time.
There is something magical about Neighbours that Home and Away just cannot match.

The outside of the Nunawading studios is familiar to fans of Prisoner Cell Block H. The end of an era as there is no Grundy show to follow in Neighbours' footsteps.

Such a shame some of the sets weren't set up somewhere for fans to enjoy in years to come. Great you did this, will share with friends and family.

They should keep the sets and donate them to the ACMI and Melbourne Museum (where one of the original 80s sets already is).
All of the ones they don't plan on re-using for other shows, should be donated to the various film and tv museums in this country and some should go to the UK too given how big the show was there once.

Very nice Mitch. Is a interesting thing to do on google street view, Homes by it, good if had one and worked there, Nice 3 minute walk. A big place now needs to do something else. Had on from the start. Think we where a year behind when it started but over time caught up. See something today, Australian TV, morning show channel. ends Thursday for you. Friday here in UK, into late evening. All over for everyone this week. Nice to see the sets, Been a lot on it, that morning show I think, Lots on UA-cam. Nice flying, Was it ran backwards the film. Impressed if not or a back facing camera us lot see, You the front live feed. Nicely done.
answered my own question. Found another fly through video. You. Fowards. Thought impressive backwards. Yesterdays episode. A lot of for sale boards at the front of the driveways. A lot leaving, Guess have to try and end it somehow.
Sad times, remember watching neighbours religiously on bbc1 (uk) every day as a kid & as a teenager through the 90s & the 2000 era 😒

I remember an Australian afternoon soap called Young Doctors that had a tiny reception, a ward with one bed, an A&E dept. with one examination couch, and all the nurses ever did was to take reports from one place to another. They've come a long way.
Indeed, except initially on pay. Alan Dale starred in both and was paid barely more years later in Neighbours; the reason for his departure. The theme tune of Young Doctors has never left either my partner or I and we are 41! Epic. PS - even though I wasn't a recent viewer of Neighbours, I am extremely sorry to see its departure and the loss of jobs to all involved.

@@sebastianohalloran9093 I remember when EastEnders started it was reported that the actors were on £400 a week. Adam Woodyatt who plays Ian Beale was 17 at the time and is now 54. Looking at the recent programmes about Neighbours there was one actor who'd been in the series 28 years. It must be great for actors, especially young ones starting out like Adam, to get steady work for so long. I wonder what pretending to be someone else for so long does to an actor.

The sets have been changed beyond recognition. They used to be so distinctive. No 22 with its staircase window and small lounge/kitchen. No. 24 with its wide wall as you entered (that was brick in the 90s and painted brick in the 00s). No.26 with its famous pillar on a stage like entrance, its famous desk and shelf behind it and that square archway leading to the kitchen. No.28 (the only one that seems original) with its brickwork chimney and Helen's painting, No.30 always a smallish, scruffy living room with a window...

As far as I’m concerned Channel 5 should hang their heads in shame for pulling the plug on the funding especially when you look at the programs that they produce on the channel which is well below par and basically consists of travel shows or police car patrol shows.

It's been the past 11 years watching Neighbours since I was 16 years old.
Now, I'm really going to miss it so much. I'm really glad that I keep watching it.

You know the Fremantle Studios and very special to my pop because my pop actually transferred crushed rock for the base of that television studio so that television studio is very special to my family

It's run to see 👀 it like that really nice though so the set that they worked in is still all there that just a Shame that they got keep going but as all great things and as all great people some day it as to end I'm not good with changing and not good say goodbye to a lot of people there. This is so utterly Soul Ripping 😢 why the HELL 🔥 did Neighbours have to be Shut Down, yet other Crap on TV 📺 get to remain, can't anyone network out there buy the rights for it to be continued somewhat?

Pity the didn’t have drones when the final scenes of Prisoner were filmed.
The many stages of the series just wondering how many feet have walked them in how many years and what of those who are still walking through the sets who are no longer here the last ever story has been told the lights are turned off the cameras stop but the fans will wonder in their imaginations in their ways the next story the series has finished but has the story who can say a story is over in the minds of the fans or a possibility of a revisit to the street once more time in a few years time maybe perhaps who will say it is possible Neighbours 2030 the Movie??
