Hey Luke and Susie, you made my day by answering my question in your youtube video! Thank you! I have always tried to get as many opinions about campfires spreading cause I see so many go out and have a fire where there are leaves all around and it appears to be dry and I see embers falling and landing on leaves and no fire breaks out. But, here in Mississippi, I've seen a lush, green field catch on fire within minutes from one small ember that fell out of a barrel. It was damp outside from previous rain. You would think there's no way all that grass should've caught on fire but it did. It took a whole neighborhood and several fire trucks to put it out and luckily no homes were damaged in the process. And no, it wasn't me that was burning a fire. But, I guess it has made me more aware and cautious. Now I kinda have a fear of having campfires. I guess it's a mixture of common sense and experience. Maybe, the more I become experienced with them the more confident I will become to tend to one. Hopefully. Again, thank you so much for answering my question. I absolutely loved going on your adventure with you two. My favorite couple. I am so happy that Luke is doing well and healthy today. That your story turned out to be a successful one and not a tragic loss. As a parent, I know there is nothing scarier than to watch your child go through something like that. Thank God for the many blessings. Hope you guys have a great day
If you ever come out to central California. we'd be happy to give you a place to stay for the night or even just a pick up or drop off to trail heads. I know you probably get a lot of offers like that but just wanted to reach out and let you know. Strength and Honor to you both! Have a great week.
Wonderful video. I enjoyed it completely! I’m a retired, recently disabled, veteran of the US Navy. My wife has a condition which has prevented her from camping for the last 15 or so years. Until recently, I would camp on my own...I love being away from cell phones and the internet. Recently, though, a botched medical procedure left even me unable to do those things I love. Watching your videos has been amazing...the next best thing to doing it myself. May God bless you guys, and your family. You have made an impact in my life...Please....keep ‘em coming!
Wow, my heart goes out to your son. 5 years ago when I was 18 I had a stroke. Incredibly painful and when your young and are having a stroke its kinds surreal because you'd never expect it. I'm glad to hear he's dealt with that adversity well. Brain injuries are no joke and the recovery process can be extremely difficult. Thank you for sharing that story and these wonderful videos. Best of wishes to you and your family.
Love the AT! Blue blazes do not mean water. Blue blazes indicate side trails which could be another trail which intersects the AT or a side trail to a shelter, which may or not have water.
Brother I love how you two always manage to get out and share adventures together. In today's rat race, this needs to happen more. We only live once. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. God bless.
Thanks for the shout out! I loved "meeting" Susan on this one - and she's a fellow knitter, so she's automatically cool! :-) A desert hiking trip would be neat to watch. I know very little about desert bushcraft, but I imagine it's quite a different experience.
oh wow, im so glad Luke is ok after all of that. He really does seem like a chill young man. Great job parenting and raising a good son. I think parents of good kids never get enough recognition. So my hats off to you both. and thank you. Another great video btw
Another profesionally hiking documentary by TOGR. Thank you! You ha e a nice variety of footage and are both genuine people and spokespeople for the outdoors. I'm glad you got out of there before it poured. - LightWalker
Those tents have been there for months. That spot always attracts semi-permanent residents, especially before trail days. The climb out of town used to be much worse before the switchbacks were installed! Sometimes I'll take the ghost trail back down to town for the fun of it. Cool video!
Glad your son recovered so well, it is really traumatic for everyone when something like that happens. You two are a great couple and its great watching your videos.
Mate that is an amazing story about Lucas. I remember watching a video of you together and he seems amazing. What an incredibly strong young man to recover so well from his strokes.
Great video! You guys must have gotten married when you were 12!!!! Neither of you look old enough to have kids that old. :-) I was really touched by the story of your son's rough start. I'm 68 and a stroke survivor. Every thing I was told I couldn't do, I made damn sure I worked just a little harder to do it. Two years out, all is well, and I'm thankful for every sunrise and sunset from a camp site somewhere. Keep up the great videos and review's.
There is a VERY strict ‘leave no trace’ policy on the AT. Leaving trash (gear) and defacing rocks is NOT part of that. Thank you Luke for fixing the fire pit. Responsible hikers will leave an area BETTER than they found it. Blue blazes on the AT can also be for shelters, overlooks, or just alt trails. Looks like you picked a really nice section of trail and had some great weather. That abandoned gear likely belonged to a homeless person attempting to live on trail. No doubt it rained, they got wet and cold, changed clothes and left the wet stuff right on trail. I’ve seen that happen before- sometimes they also squat in shelters. I love it when you two hike together!!! Looking forward to your hikes this year!!
Another great trek and video. It's nice to be outside and taking some time with the wife. I'm slowly getting my significant other into hiking. It's great alone time too. Looks like you had some great mild temps for February. Hike on my friends 👍
I think it's great that a woman's perspective is given on the trail !! My wife and I love to hike together, some of the best times we've ever had !! ( Y'all ) Keep these great videos coming 👍👍👍
Hi Luke and Susie, always enjoy the vids with you two together. The area looks great as you two go down memory lane about the snake, and speaking of lanes (paths), it's so cool seeing these steps here and there as you hike; I wondered if the paths are maintained as they usually look kept up nice. Currently where I live in CA, Hurricane Hilary is paying us a visit here in our lower desert and from what I understand there are plenty of areas where some had experienced her wrath and hope that they've weather through it all. Fortunately my neck of the woods was spared as we weathered this severe storm, the last time a hurricane came to the CA coast was 80 yrs ago. North Carolina seems very appealing to me. I'm so glad I stumbled on to your channel as while ago I enjoy it so much! Keep 'em coming and thanks for all the review info you give us Luke I'm sure there's so many others that appreciate that too! Jan Stewart (she who has crick in neck most of the time) LOL
stupid question, how did you end up with such a great girl like Suzie? she is awesome. it is great to see you both on video she adds a lot to your reviews . best of luck to both of you, stay safe and keep em coming
It all started in high school, I was dating another blond girl and she introduced me to her best friend, Susan! My girlfriend was beautiful and a bit crazy but Susan was on a completely different level (not crazy)! The rest is history. - Luke
The story you told about your worst Valentine’s Day made me reflect on what matters most to me. Thanks for sharing and I’m so glad that it worked out in the end. Great vids Luke, strength and honour!
Love watching you'll together so awesome stories and love the hike . I watch all the way through love seeing the sights and beautiful scenery. :) Love the product's you show so cool .:) I wondered if Luke has ever tried to do any types of a crafts as a young kid? :) And if so what craft? I know now you're a knitter so cool. :) Keep up cool traveling and cool camping sites and cool stories. :)Hugs and love to you both. :)Toni grandon.:)
What a great video of an awesome genuine couple who are real soul mates. Can’t wait for me & my wife to follow in your footsteps & get out on our own adventures here in the UK.
Hello Luke, it is good to see you and Susan out on the trail. Two thumbs up on this one. I really enjoyed it. You folks take care out there and have fun. 🤗
Talking at the end about a cheese burger and fries after a long hike reminded me of my partial hike in Mt. Whitney back in August 2016, they have this place, family owned store right at Whitney Portal where they serve the biggest house burgers and pancakes one have ever seen! after coming down the mountain, almost everyone without exception gets theirs, it is not a true experience if you do not, and boy it feels and taste so good!
Great video and i watch your channel on utube and your advice and tips has made my camping trips and hikes so much better just want to say thank you Luke you’re a inspiration to us all thank you all the way from England uk
You guys are both the sweetest people and have such good chemistry, kept me laughing/smiling throughout. Minus the horrific story of your son, so sorry to hear that but so happy he was able to make a full recovery. God is good. Thanks for sharing the great video!(:
Damascus is a nice town. Went through awhile back going to Grassy Creek NC. I can't wait to get back to those mountains. Enjoy your time in paradise!!!
I had all 4 wisdom pulled at once. The dentist had lnivked me out so much..i slept for a day. My daughter had all 4 pulled at once too. The dentist who knocked her out had to recessitate her because his patients hearts could stop. He said it was normal.😳 I freaked. My daughter was so drugged she woke up in tears and hallucinating.
Just started watching you guys in the last few weeks and I'm sure you've reviewed your shoes. Watched a lot of At, Pct, Cdt and see a lot of shoe favorites. What do you like? Had to add after seeing the US421 sign in Damascus that 421 runs in front of my house 3 miles south of the Indiana state line. Small world. :0)
HI Luke and Susan, you two might consider an adventure outing in New Hampshire in the White Mountains. Climbed, Hiked and camped there all through my holidays off in high school. I am from Maryland so its a drive but well rewarded with the views and Mt scenery!!!! North Conway is my must stop town in winter before heading out to the back country. Lots of beautiful cascades and hikes in to them in the warmer months! But winter its a snow wonderland and AMC leads the way on most trails!!!! Hey Luke can you tell us some stories about human encounters while in your tent at night, I remember you mentioning that a while back but didnt go into detail
I would love to see four of my most favorite adventure hikers together: TOGR, Wonder Hussey, Joe Robinet, and Emelie's Outdoor Adventures. Yes, they are very diverse BUT, they share the same passion....adventure hiking. I would PAY MONEY to see these four together. WHO'S WITH ME!?!?!
Hello mi friends. Loads of history wow somethings i never new thanks for sharing. Great walk out. It's great to see you both out thanks for a great video. ATVB to the both of you. 🇬🇧👍☕
Great video. I wish I could get my wife to tent camp with me, we used to long ago before the kids came along, since then we've switched to an trailer camper, but it's just not the same. I still solo tent camp a few times a year when I can find the time, maybe after the kids are moved out we can get back to this. You guys really look like you had a good time.
I did the Vermont leg of the AT last year I learned a few things. Your shoes and socks are super important. Your gear needs to dry super quick. Your shoes, socks, shirt, underwear, and t-shirts should be comfortable, and quick drying. Hiking sticks are awesome. Get the lightest gear you can afford. It's important that you can eat quickly. Your shelter should be quick to put up and take down. LIghtweight, lightweight, lightweight. The most I did in a day was 18 miles and it was a killer. I noticed that the through hikers that far north were typically doing 20+ miles per day.
Great video. 👍👍. You two are an awesome couple. I love watching your overnight adventures as well as the detailed review videos. I was gonna ask about Suzy doin women's perspective but that was answered in the video. You are awesome Luke, but everyone loves Suzy too! Haha. It's great to see her in your videos! Peace and honor. ✌
This was a great trip and we are planning the next one now and it's going to be Multiday.
More on that soon. - Luke

Look how she is looking at you in the thumbnail.CRINGE
I'm a huge fan of the solo adventures but I really love the couple's adventures. You two are the ultimate example of relationship goals.
Incredible story about your son’s illness and recovery. That must have been very scary but glad you can inspire so many today. Thanks so much.
I am addicted to your site. Cannot get enough of your adventure programs. Thank you.
I saw Lucas on your show. He's such a good boy. And you can tell he wants to be like dad. Even look like him a bit.

Haha! Dome = Do Me! Scary story about Luke, thankfully he pulled through.
the guy must have been doing a self portrait
Love your channel. Thank you for excellent information on trails. Best for Suzie and you.
You are so lucky to have each other... 😍
Excellent - looking forward to the Susie reviews. And it is so clear that the two of you have kept your love alive. It's endearing.

I agree. You dont want to travel heavy I'd pack light too. Unless you're going to be close to your truck.
One of my favorite stories goes. When I was 18 my father knew nearly nothing, by the time I was 25 I was amazed at how much he had learned.
Great video! You guys must have gotten married when you were 12!!!! Neither of you look old enough to have kids that old. :-) I was really touched by the story of your son's rough start. You can tell how much Luke cares for the trail ethics, "If DO.ME was here I'd take that rock and smash his head in with it!" LOL
Another great trek and video. It's nice to be outside and taking some time with the wife. I'm slowly getting my significant other into hiking. It's great alone time too. Looks like you had some great mild temps for February. Hike on my friends 👍

What a great video! And what an awesome girl! How fun to enjoy a trip like that together and enjoy the sights, sounds, and cheeseburgers!
I'll be on the AT 3/29 doing my thru-hike so your overnighter got me in the hiking mood.
The video my wife and I have been waiting for :-) thank you so much Luke and Susie!
What an awesome little trip! You guys rock. Thanks so much for sharing!

Shug always has cheeseburgers after his hikes. Great outing Luke and Susie, thanks for sharing.
TY for sharing story about Lucas.
Love your content. Just one question, why no trekking poles or walking staff? Your thoughts on that please.
Fun video guys. Thanks for sharing.
Pinkcom Notch at the base trail of Mt Washington is a must stop and check out. Great video again! This one was very well put together and loved the sound of the rain on the tent. A bucket list for me and my husband. Want to section hike the AT. Nice vid!
Woooo! Coming to Canada!! So many great places for camping here.
Thanks you two!
The AT Trail I hiked years ago (in my 30s') was from Harrisonburg Virginia to the Tennessee Trail. Some trails are easier than others.
Nice hike and camp! Those must be thru-hikers, possibly.
Luke cracked me up. Can’t look at domes D😂😂😂

I’m just watching this but I’m so glad Lucas is fine❤ God is great❤
Was gonna watch the vid later, but the thumbnail of you howling had me watching right now!
I have an Ozark tent that been through a lot of storms. Survived fine. And it's still my favorite. Even though I have 2 newer tents.
Great video. Thank you for sharing so many stories.
Awesome guys! Love it!
Another great vidio Luke! I dont comment a lot but like all your work.
Thank you both for a fun video
Luke talking to everyone non-stop? Nooooo....😉 Lukie the hero. .....These Luke n Suzie vids are the best
