GREAT SQUIRREL!", so i suppose when you are in some company you become it's soul naturally ) Keep the good pace and be always happy - with greetings from Ukraine )
Анатолий Бакиновский Hey hey brother, thank you for the kind words. It's great to meet like minded people like yourself. Be good my friend and enjoy the adventure. - Luke
I think the Smokies burned in 2016 in November or December. It was very very dry. My mother had just passed so I was home feeling sad and this huge wind arose in the valley and it hit Gatlinburg TN pretty hard as it drove eastward. Glad you're having fun. I wish I could go back in time, and just appreciate the wonderful things that have passed in my life that I took for granted. Enjoy each day. Love each day. Feel productive each day and you'll feel like you are living. TY for the video it was very nice.
As a side note I just really wanted to say thank you for all the time and effort you put into sharing and making these videos, it's fantastic entertainment and great mental "outdoor" time during 80 plus hour work weeks. Thankfully though I am off this week and I am doing 2 over night trips. Thanks again, a new friend. Rian
Fantastic video I was looking forward to you putting this up and I definitely was not disappointed. Thanks for all the hard work you do put something like this together.
hey! Luke l was born and raised in the back woods of Kentucky. I'm 55 years old now and still love walking through my 102 acres of land. keep up the good work!!
Loving the adventure so far....had to say as you were giving a tour of the tent after setup you said " here it is my friends"...'my 3 yr old daughter immediately asked where your friends were?! Lol I told her you were talking about the people watching the video, like us I said. She pauses to process and comes back with " well that's so nice 🙂" with a big smile! Lol Be well Craig
Hey Luke! Fantastic video, been hanging out for this one since the intro. Really enjoyed question time, very informative and great advice. The change in scenery after the snow was superb, you are so lucky to be able to enjoy nature in all it's glory like that. I can feel for you and your wife regarding her mother and her illness, I sat with my mother for three weeks as she ended her struggle with cancer, and it's really tough, the hardest thing I have ever done. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you, strength to you, hoping all goes well and she is with you for a long time yet. Take care and can't wait for the next adventure! Keep 'em coming!
Hey there David, thank you so much for taking the time to write. It really means a lot my friend. I am very sorry to hear about your mother and my thoughts go out to you and yours. Brother be well and take care. On to the next adventure. - Luke
Another awesome adventure Luke. I'm the same at the start of a trip when I'm struggling until the pack mule mentality kicks in. Good to hear about you and your bro being outside a lot as kids. It no doubt gave you a lot more than video games ever could. Take Care
You know the favorite things about being out in the woods. Seeing animals the deer foxs , birds, squirrels, bear. The peace and quiet, hearing the leaves crunching wondering what's coming. The sun coming up, and going down. The big moons. Its like a big movie happening right in front of you.
Love your videos! Thanks for all the knowledge that you bring in your videos and I do appreciate that and I will take that with me when I go camping the very first time and thank you for teaching me some of the Bushcrafting ways!
About the showing his food. He never stops talking of his food over and over coffee and food what's up whit that like body.try to eat nicely buddy okaypeace
great video Luke thanks so much, looking forward to all of your upcoming videos. Seemed like a great camp site, I would love it if i had a forest so close to my house. Take care man.
Luke, I really enjoy your videos! I'm always with you in spirit on your trips! I'm 58 and in 'not so good' health but was a avid camper when I was your age...Please make more videos soon...I watch what's on here over and over! I hope to meet you one day! Murfreesboro, Tn ain't that far from you! LOL...Keep on keepin' on, Brother in spirit'''' Robbie
I have hiked the AT in sections over time and have come across some pretty interesting things. IMO they should all be left alone right where they are. They all tell a story and are interesting to all who see them. I hope you and Susie continue to bless us with interesting, informative and adventurous videos. Thank you both so much. Hike on...
I thought i would miss story time, but the Q&A round was as good as many short stories.. ;) i enjoy your videos keep em coming and stay safe.. Cheers...
Good video, as always. Your neighbor should know the first step in starting a fire is make preparations for putting it out. Easier done at home then out in the boonies. Glad to see how cautious you are about starting a large fire.
Another fantastic adventure, Luke. Thanks for sharing. The best thing about packs that are built like the Fjallravens, even though they are on the heavy side, is just like you said, they are bulletproof. I carry my full size Frost River Isle Royal on just about every outing, which weighs in at the 7lb mark as well. I'm more than happy to carry that weight, though, because I know that pack is not going to fail me. These heavy materials will just about last forever. Also, nothing like a good can of beans in the outdoors! Cheers ~ Wm
Luke, great video enjoyed it a lot u are so down to earth nice seeing people like yourself that's far and few today take care bud can't wait to see your next adventure god bless my friend, Alvin
When I worked I would go to Eagle Creek Park ( the biggest city park in the state) It is like a state park. It gave me such peace to walk thru the woods. I called it my theory. I am very ill , but when I feel ok walking in the woods makes me feel better than medicine. Nature is so healing.
Just recently happened across your channel Luke. Great work and I know just how much extra hiking you'll be doing to film your trips when you're alone especially. Its appreciated. Would love to hear some of your campfire stories about any weird encounters you've had whilst out on the trails. Following with interest buddy. Neil from Yorkshire, UK.
I've had deja vu since I was a kid, typically in dreams. I'll usually have a very strong recollection of the specific sights and sounds of the situation, while having a vague recollection of being half asleep and dreaming it...
Your overnight adventure videos always make me want to go rough it in the woods lol but being 17 as i am and with no car kinda puts a damper on things lol but still love all your videos.
Luke, great work once again! I live in AZ and it is really nice to imagine winter backpacking! I am in running shorts and tanks tops already :( ...easy on the load which is nice but maybe someday I will expierence some cold weather camping. Sssshhh don't tell I have never been in snow. :p
Biking is a very good idea! :)) I've been doing that for decades and it's still an adventure everytime i go out. :)) With me it's the other way around, i'd like to hike more with a backpack. ;))
Man, I remember in 1984-1985 at White Sands Base, during desert training in the winter with 3 feet of snow. We lost have of the company due to frostbite... 80 soldiers. but love your winter ViDZ!!!
Hey man your childhood was awesome! I also had the same type of childhood and Im proud of it! Also your video seemed uninteresting in the beginning, but as it progressed, it became more and more interesting! Keep up the good work! -Jamshed
Great video again Luke! I wouldn't be concerned about the life of your husky, I had one who unfortunately passed a 4 or so years ago but she lived to be 16! I hope your dogs live happy long lives like mine did!
Wonderful video man, thanks for taking the time to make. One thing, you need your own TV show. Watching you videos is so much better than whats on TV!!
I don't know if you've done this, but last December I went camping with my dad, uncle, brother, and little cousin, we did our camping without a tent, we built our own shelter, but, I find that if you have a good clear space close to your fire pit, if the wind is just right on a cold night, it will send the warmth of the fire into your tent and it's pretty cozy :)
Great trek beautiful scenery. That scene as you came out of the tent reminded me of one Christmas as kids when it snowed, wonderful. The tent looked great glad the snow didn't cause you problems with it. Appreciate your time and effort. The thing with answering Facebook question that's a good idea keep it up. Thanks.
I really enjoyed this trip. The mountain was really steep. Almost got out of breath getting a second cup of coffee. Like the call ins. Added a lot to the trip.
Luke I agree 100% on the processed foods, my grand parents ate good old fashion country cooking, you know all those things they say we shouldn't eat, and lived into there 90's. I have in recent years started going to local farmers for my fruits and veggies. I rarely drink a soda but if I do I will get a throwback Pepsi with real sugar not that fake stuff. Great video as usual. I am starting this spring making my kids go camping and leaving the electronics at home, going back to the way I grew up, always outside.
Hello there Luke, its me Mohammed. Awesome trip you have here. Loved it as always. Its a great thing you added the Q&A to this trip, should do it in the upcoming videos. Anyways i really laughed myself out during your double woodpecker moments, hahas! All in all, loved that you are indirectly my hiking mentor as you are a very humble individual. Looking ahead for more exciting trips and will always keep your mother-in-law in my thoughts and prayers too. Take care and be well my friend. - Mohammed :)
I enjoy you very much Luke I enjoy watching you you make me laugh and enjoy having experience from you and camping I learn stuff from you all the time thank you for alert take take your time and do all these camping trips thankyou Luke valerie durr from South Carolina
Hi Luke, great advices there on highly processed foods and sodas. Here in Europe there are also serious gaps on legislation for food safety. Going simple is usually a great advice on food. Great video editing and content. Keep those overnight adventures rocking. Love the fire parts. Best regards from Europe ;-)
TheOutdoorGearReview I also wanted to ask..you talked about the hours of footage you capture for your trips. What do you do with the unused footage? I have to scrap mine for storage considerations and usually just keep the final cut. I have a 2GB network drive, but even that would fill up fast if I kept all the video I shoot.
Hey mi friend.....I enjoy your videos. I am an outdoors kind of person, and I really like the adventure. I am a Cuban from Miami, and also I will like to give you a big Like the way your think about your country. Nice answer!..You make me feel proud too!...I like to use the USA military equipment. Real good quality!....
Superb video, as always, I'm leaving TN for a job transfer to Green Bay WI. Not too much elevation to hike in, but, a very post glacier area with the 1100 mile "ice age trail" lots of erratics and rock formations, gonna be something new. Thanks as always for your videos!
Your childhood sounds just like mine. Outside, in the woods from sunup to sundown. We had paintball guns and dirt bikes... which made it slightly more fun, but the same general idea. :)
Luke a problem with having hobbies is having too many! Don’t know which one to do, what a terrible problem, right?Taking a bike trip is a great idea, lots of fun! Always enjoy your videos!!
I went on an overnighter a couple of weeks ago, and when I got to the campsite, I found an abandoned tent. It was pretty creepy. It was raining quite a bit out, and the rainfly was half off, and the door to the tent was wide open, and there was a pool of water inside. There was also a soaked sleeping bag laying inside. It was eerie, to say the least. No telling how long it had been out there, but it didn't look more than a couple weeks old. I guess you could say that was the first time I've ever found gear out in the woods as well. Excellent video!
Another fantastic video brother. I tell you, it makes me miss home every time I watch. But I really do enjoy it. I am going on about a 20-26 mile overnight hike on the Conecuh Trail this weekend. Really looking forward to it and being out in the quiet while I sleep. I have been using the Hennessey Hammock and it makes for a wonderful nights sleep.
hey Luke, recently I had the pleasure of meeting a guy who amazingly looks a lot like you. I live in brooklyn nyc and we met professionally a great work force career advisor.....and I'll just leave it there, no name.
Great video man, haven't commented much, always found myself erring on the side of not saying anything, but I wanted to say thanks for the work you put into editing these videos, it makes a big difference. Also, I have to say, I'm jealous of that snow... Here in kansas we've out of the snow season, but not the cold or the 40 mph wind season, so count yourself lucky! And you should check out cross country skiing, I discovered the old family skis this year and it changed the way I view the winter (imagine instead of being snowed into a camp you can cover 20+ miles a day :).
Great vid. as usual luke that tent looks good I have just bought a vango 200 very similar to yours but a european version looking forward to using it soon on the Scottish West Highland Way. Keep up the Adventures and thank you for all the good tips
Told you before that every time I get a new tent the first thing I do is to set it up in my yard and then spray it down with silicone waterproofing spray, paying close attention to the seams. That stuff can turn a mediocre tent into a great one. I also use it on hats and gloves. And I experience Vu Ja De, the feeling that I have never seen anything before. Keeps me curious.
Great new way of this answering questions from FB. Just trying trying my luck, as i had miss the golden question timing. Mind showing us how you set up your food bag. It seems to have so many goodies on each trip. Thanks buddy.
Great video Luke as always! If you are looking for new adventures I'd like to suggest rock climbing, It's awesome! You would be like a spider on the wall!
Great vid of a very interesting trip. So many things to discuss in this one but the main thing I'd like to say is this, well done for picking up other peoples trash, some people would have just tried to burn it which is really nasty ! Nobody likes trash especially in such a pristine environment, you are an inspiration and a set a good example to others ! And as a bonus you actually came home with more useful gear than you went out with ! I'm going to have to look for your biking trip video as I do a bit of bike camping myself.
Another awesome video, Luke. 54:37-- Is camping an escape from reality or a "return" to it? Questions I ask myself...either way I get what you're saying. Great trip & cool campsite!
Dude, you're one of most positive guys i've ever seen ) even when you're on your own you are always cheered and all like "WOW! AWESOME TREES! GREAT SQUIRREL!", so i suppose when you are in some company you become it's soul naturally ) Keep the good pace and be always happy - with greetings from Ukraine )

Love these Overnight adventures! Started doing some on my own channel, inspired by your videos! But im going to be doing overnight bicycle adventures.
Great job Luke! Even years later, it is a good trip to watch.
Some of my favorite words to hear on UA-cam are TOGR saying "There is a winter storm coming in tonight."

love the video, i love to go in the winter as well.
When I worked I would go to Eagle Creek Park ( the biggest city park in the state) It is like a state park. It gave me such peace to walk thru the woods. I called it my theory. I am very ill , but when I feel ok walking in the woods makes me feel better than medicine. Nature is so healing.

I've had deja vu since I was a kid, typically in dreams. I'll usually have a very strong recollection of the specific sights and sounds of the situation, while having a vague recollection of being half asleep and dreaming it...
Exactly ! It's the same for me except for the dreams. For me it always when I'm awake. Since young teen years.
Love the music you use - fits perfectly with whatever you are doing at the time.
Ol' Luke, rockin' the gear that we want to see! Good job, man.
Your overnight adventure videos always make me want to go rough it in the woods lol but being 17 as i am and with no car kinda puts a damper on things lol but still love all your videos.

I guess you could say that was the first time I've ever found gear out in the woods as well. Excellent video!
Hilleberg tents do such a great job trapping heat in. I just love my Akto.
Another great video, Luke!
Greetings from Chile!
Greetings from the USA Tito.
Be well out there.

Great video! I like how you integrated questions from Facebook. Hopefully I will get to link up with you in June when I visit Asheville.
Brother that sounds awesome to me.

I think I like the snow as much as the rain. It was fun, thanks
hey Luke, recently I had the pleasure of meeting a guy who amazingly looks a lot like you. I live in brooklyn nyc and we met professionally a great work force career advisor.....and I'll just leave it there, no name.
Another great vid. Should be on prime time TV! Kr
Thanks Mike

Great video man, haven't commented much, always found myself erring on the side of not saying anything, but I wanted to say thanks for the work you put into editing these videos, it makes a big difference. Also, I have to say, I'm jealous of that snow... Here in kansas we've out of the snow season, but not the cold or the 40 mph wind season, so count yourself lucky! And you should check out cross country skiing, I discovered the old family skis this year and it changed the way I view the winter (imagine instead of being snowed into a camp you can cover 20+ miles a day :).
Congrats on the sleeping pad find. My only coup so far has been a space pen. Looks like it was a gorgeous trip.
Great vid. as usual luke that tent looks good I have just bought a vango 200 very similar to yours but a european version looking forward to using it soon on the Scottish West Highland Way.
Keeps me curious.
your videos are such high quality and i think you deserve a lot more subscribers. i love your videos!
Thanks for sharing your adventure Luke!
Another awesome video, Luke. 54:37-- Is camping an escape from reality or a "return" to it? Questions I ask myself...either way I get what you're saying. Great trip & cool campsite!
Awesome videos! heading into the black hills for some quality camping!
That sounds awesome.
Have a great time and be well.
