    I finally got an instant pot. They finally came to Australia. Yay! Anyway, my first attempt was a dismal failure! I did basmati rice and followed the instructions in the manual and on the packet which was 1 1/2 cups water to one cup of rice. Pressed the rice button and left it to cook and slow release. I ended up with mush, which I never thought could be possible with basmati rice! The instructions said to rinse the rice which I never find is a good idea. I usually do rice in the microwave without any problems. I really wanted to fast release the pressure valve. I think that might have helped.?

      The rice button is poop. Cooks for too long! Just use manual Pressure Cook High for 4 mins. Natural pressure release for 5 mins.

    No pasta?
    One jar sauce plus one cup water per pound, stir well. Put pasta on top so it is just submerged (long noodles like linguine need to be broken in half).
    Cook time = math time. On the pasta box there will be an "al dente" cook time; linguine is 7 minutes, so I'll use that. Divide by 2 (to 3:30), round down to nearest whole minute (3:00), and subtract another minute (2:00). 2 minute pressure cook. Natural release is the "al dente" time minus 2 minutes (5:00). After release, stir well, let stand on warm uncovered to let excess water evaporate and thicken, and Parmesan to help thicken as well.

    While cooking with yogurt setting
    Don’t we need to deal with the lid?

    • @nonyabizness.original
      @nonyabizness.original 3 роки тому

      you can use a regular glass lid. and fyi, for greek yogurt, after the recipe is done, put the yogurt in a cheese cloth lined strainer, set over a bowl, in the fridge, to strain off the whey.

    you can sill make yogurt without the yogurt button

      Yes.
      And for people with the 8 qt Duo Crisp + Air Fryer, use the Dehydrator setting to make your yogurt.

    • @ccmnevada
      @ccmnevada 3 роки тому +2

      You can use the right button but most expert or a long time instant pot users like to control the number of minutes that they cook their rice that they cook everything so they usually use just pressure cook or manual button and the number of minutes if they think it’s right.

    • @TheNinnyfee
      @TheNinnyfee 3 роки тому

      If you have some money left to spend: there is a non-stick inlay you can buy, maybe that will resolve the problem once and for all. Apart from that you might be right about the oats, or you need to adjust the heat/cooking time for your oats.

      Water or meat in the bottom. Pasta in the middle. Tomato stuff on top. It usually doesn't burn that way.

      @@HeatherLewisOhLeven Some ppl also have large budgets. I only have one sooner than I planned because my coworker (who lives in a wealthier part of town) got me an 8 qt IP Duo for my birthday. Mind you, she likes a bargain as much as I do, so she managed to snag an 8-qt for way less than what it usually does. I halfway wish she hadn't mentioned price, though, just because IMO, if you're giving someone something, mentioning cost is kinda in poor taste, usually. But, hey, whatever. It's a new cooking tool to conquer. 😜😁

      @@a.katherinesuetterlin3028 I could afford it technically, but I waited for the deal because I grew up with nothing and I too am a bargain shopper. You don't get to have something from nothing by not looking for deals.
      We just moved to PA from CA, so our kitchen is bigger now, but only just a little. It still takes up a lot of space.

    Every time I use my instant pot the food has this plastic and metallic taste. It’s awful. I clean the pot well and all that. But it makes the food taste likes it’s fake food or something. Everything I make has that weird taste and I’ve tried using it many times. Finally I quit using it cause the food tastes so gross. I know it can’t be healthy to use if it makes the food taste like that.
