"Social Skills with Phil." Dude...I watched this series start to finish. Forget the results. The way you interracted with the kids and other racers, kept your humility, and were so accessible....was the most impressive part. Couple the fact that you got out there and diced it up with top Pros in an Enduro and DH, and held your own, and it made for "must watch UA-cam" content. I haven't watched the channel growth lately, but since you've gotten out of school and done this more full time, it SHOULD be growing EXPONENTIALLY, because what MTB'er wouldn't rather watch this than any of the crap that's on TV now? ANOTHER awesome video!
New series idea for Phil: "Chill With Phil" where he just takes it chill in the trail so we can actually comprehend what is happening and not get sweaty palms.
Odds are most everyone made a mistake or two similar to that with the course being that blown out. But...AMAZING showing by Phil nonetheless. People are suggesting that he would have gone faster on a DH bike, and if he was fully trained up...I would agree. However, on that course and without the fitness to put down the power i'm sure he would love to be able to, I would be surprised if he turned a faster time on a DH bike. It's easier pedaling on the enduro bike. I'd be curious to hear Phil's take on that.
SkilloVision OG 😂. Rad vid series dude. Well impressed on the DH result considering the trifecta of barely any practice, trail bike and flat pedals on a bumpy/pedally track 👊
I’ve really enjoyed the kind of format you’ve been using in your recent videos. It’s been a good combination of vloggy personal interactions, POV footage, and cuts to you at home for context. Great work.👍
Yeah, add a DH bike, proper training and nutrition and subtract an Enduro race and a whip off and see Phil inching into the top 10. In my book he's easily one of the fastest people on the planet.
To be fair Bruni probably only did this for fun and was not"tryhard racing" but just flowing it down doing zero risk. Afterall he is World Champ and Overall World Cup Winner and Season is over. He has nothing to win but everything to lose should he crash
But anyways, just 8 seconds slower. You can tell that these fast and technical sections are the ones where Phil can really shine. All this pedaling uphills in the second and third section wasnt his kind of terrain. He was really good there, too. No doubt. But when it gets scary fast and he can smash over rough sections then he is literally flying. Nice races, absolutely an inspiration.
Phil it’s awesome watching your channel and influence grow all while seeing that your kindness, respect and humility grows along with it. Your riding is rad and when combined with a genuine, wholehearted character it brings this community together. Thank you and keep up the fantastic work.
17:08 Phil giggles as he knows he's killing this s*** like a gangster end boss! 16:44 Rider: "Wanna do a train?" Phil: I was thinking of having everyone hold my beer while I flip it! Such a bad ass rider Phil, dang man. Legit!!!
Dude you have gotten so much better over the years I have been watching you forever and you are pretty much one of the sickest fastest you tubers on a bike man keep it up
something about Phil's laugh makes me smile. It gives me joy. His personality and everything is just amazing. If i'm having a bad day, ill just come watch one of his videos and my day gets a whole lot better.
For those less experiences gravity riders out there, if you're wondering how Phil was able to manage to get 17th in a downhill race riding an enduro bike, maybe I can provide some insight. What I gather from Phil's riding and watching him ride in a few of his videos, there are two things that Phil does super well on a mountain bike: and that's keeping a high line, and having a very active riding style. Phil always seems to be taking not always the inside or outside line on a trail, but the line that keeps the most elevation. This allows Phil to always have the option to dive downhill when he sees a line he likes. So even though Phil is riding a bike that isn't supposed to handle this kind of abuse, his active riding style and good perception of the track while keeping a high and early line allows him space to choose how exactly he tackles a given section. As any gravity athlete will tell you, it's a lot easier to turn downhill then to turn uphill. And that's where he finds his speed... it's sort of analogous to pumping on a pump track. He's always moving down the mountain instead of up to the best of his abilities, and minimizing huge absorption from his shocks. This also allows him to get more up and out of the way of obstacles easier as opposed to having to blow through them and correspondingly his suspension. I'm not even a mountain bike racer, I do ski racing actually mainly and enduro racing is just my pastime, but I know good racing when I see it. Phil's humility aside you can learn a lot from how he rides! Good job Phil 👍👍👍👍
My kids and I love your videos man. Thanks for the entertainment! That’s got to get you pumped up hearing all the people yell your name and cheer for you on your runs!
Phil, Love to see how you interact with your fans, one can't fake it, love how down to earth you are and always so respectful to everyone around you. much respect sir
Been riding for about a year now (after not riding a bike for over 20 years), struggled along some enduro and one or two DH tracks (Karkloof, Cascades, Hartbeespoort...). You make it look so easy, all while fearlessly blasting down at ridiculous speeds! Such an inspiration.
Loved the series! Was able to go to the Fox US Open and even said hi to you when I saw you, It was great reliving the awesome weekend through your eyes. Keep it up!
What a great result, Phill! It's absolutely admirable considering how much fatigue had been built up in your body from the days prior. And the lack of proper focused practice makes it even crazier to think you're just 10 sec or so off from the world's best!
I love this type of content where he really gets zoned in and just lets lose and just absolutely sends it. It makes me feel like I’m biking. love it keep up the good work
It's great to see you killing it with the steady stream of videos, the new sponsors, and a fantastic result in the DH. I hope Fox, GT, and NOBL are treating you well.
Phil thanks so much for filming this, I love enduro race/downhill POV. It’s fun to hear you check out the track and the see you bomb down it. I’m 50 and just entered my 1st race this year after not riding for the last 20. i raced some xc in the 90’s and BMX in the 80’s. Keep it cranking!

Yeah that was really awesome, DH and Enduro on the same bike! I bought the same 2019 GT Force and stoked to be riding a similar rig to Phil! Also used by Martin Maes, Noga Korem, and Rachel Strait! 😍
Hey Phil! Loving all your latest videos. Particularly the parts where you jump in from sitting at your desk to provide some context or commentary. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for another great video. I absolutely love your channel. Watching you ride inspires an old timer like me to get on my bike and go enjoy riding. Much love from South Africa
Very nice! Loved the flip. It's always a thrill putting myself in your place. I'm 67 and don't have the reaction time to do anything but small jumps and drops. I really like your videos and you have affected me more than anyone when it comes to mountain biking. Thanks
Phil, I’m an old guy that has only ever raced a MTB once back in 1999, and that was an XC time trial. I’m considering racing an Enduro in March, and I’d been a little concerned I might make a fool out of myself, but after watching this video, I might just give it a go. Thanks for the great content dude!
Your a stand up guy Phil & you can absolutely rip, for sure my favourite MTB youtuber & I watch them all. I gotta say I thoroughly enjoyed that vid, the Skills were on display, I would like to have seen it as a documentary, maybe narrated by Attenborough, "Here we see a Skillful Phill in the wild, Communing with his people"
"The Phil seems to have spotted the competition. It rushes forward and throws itself down the hill. Reaching speeds that defy physics, it leaves any predators in the dust. At the finish line, we see a common American Fanboy lying in ambush. Waiting for the Phil to slow down, it wants the perfect opportunity to strike. Phil approaches the finish line, but he has spotted the Fanboy. Phil takes to the air and sends itself flying far over everyone near the finish line. As it lands you can hear the Phil call out for any nearby females: "Oh hoho hohoho".
Love all the videos cant wait to see more. The favorite was the whip contest. Your abilities have been inspiring me to step up my riding skills. I must say my progression is a bit slow but its improving nicely!!! Thanks Phil!
And i thought the last video was awesome but this tops it, i am just blown away by your handling of the bike at those speeds and your amazing skill level (credit where credit is due). So inspired to push harder now. I now have placed you as my favorite you tube rider!!

@skillswithphil Did my 1st DH race this past weekend at @SpiderMountain, and it was chainless. So cool to see your thoughtful line choice and finally having some real appreciation for top level riders that send it like yourself! Keep it Gnarly! 🤙
Phil you are an inspiration. Now I see the key to going through rough trail is to send it at 30 mph and just skip along the top of each rock. Who knew it was so easy?
"I haven't really been practicing my whips"

@skillswithphil Did my 1st DH race this past weekend at @SpiderMountain, and it was chainless. So cool to see your thoughtful line choice and finally having some real appreciation for top level riders that send it like yourself! Keep it Gnarly! 🤙
freakin AWESOME man. had tons of fun watching u ride. thanks for the adventure!!
This makes me want to get back into racing so much!!
Phil you are an inspiration. Now I see the key to going through rough trail is to send it at 30 mph and just skip along the top of each rock. Who knew it was so easy?
I loved watching the race videos and you going through your practice. Would love to see more
Awesome video Phil! Always enjoy your content. Really enjoyed your computer screen to video transitions. That back flip looked Savage
Great video Phil! Crazy speed you're going at! Keep up the good work!
Great production and editing. -- Race Pace versus standard runs are insanely fast. Great job!!!
