"I haven't really been practicing my whips"
THROWS AN ABSOLUTELY SAVAGE BACKFLIP INSTEAD
I never got comfortable enough with the jump to fully commit to a good whip so I had to do something that would get noticed.
@@SkillsWithPhil flip worked 👍👍👍
Wow your such a awesome rider mr phill keep up the great work. God bless🙏
Jesuslover Yes, we pray for your safety when you ride...
DUNE YXZ we sure do
New series idea for Phil: "Chill With Phil" where he just takes it chill in the trail so we can actually comprehend what is happening and not get sweaty palms.
Ethan Klone 😂
Cartier Pham 😂😂😂I’m laughing SO HARD
@@bikerkid2983 first time i read your comment i didnt see the laughing part so i just read "IM SO HARD" lol
Dan Demore 😂
"Social Skills with Phil." Dude...I watched this series start to finish. Forget the results. The way you interracted with the kids and other racers, kept your humility, and were so accessible....was the most impressive part. Couple the fact that you got out there and diced it up with top Pros in an Enduro and DH, and held your own, and it made for "must watch UA-cam" content. I haven't watched the channel growth lately, but since you've gotten out of school and done this more full time, it SHOULD be growing EXPONENTIALLY, because what MTB'er wouldn't rather watch this than any of the crap that's on TV now? ANOTHER awesome video!
Oh man, with all that dusty looseness, my stress levels were at 11 just sitting on the couch... Nice riding and killer editing dude. 🥇🥇🥇
I have a race coming up and by race day there is 4 inches on dust at the last parts of the track.
That flip looks fun on the GoPro and like whole lot of nope from 3rd person.
And you had a pretty solid mistake and STILL came 17th?!?! You’re insane, didn’t even mention it in the post race analysis! What a legend.
Odds are most everyone made a mistake or two similar to that with the course being that blown out. But...AMAZING showing by Phil nonetheless. People are suggesting that he would have gone faster on a DH bike, and if he was fully trained up...I would agree. However, on that course and without the fitness to put down the power i'm sure he would love to be able to, I would be surprised if he turned a faster time on a DH bike. It's easier pedaling on the enduro bike. I'd be curious to hear Phil's take on that.
Paul, you're as much an inspiration to many of us - keep it up guy!
The announcer at the bottom of the dh seating run is such legend! Straight up promotes Phils channel even giving content examples xD
I know, that dude rocked. I really appreciated that.
SkilloVision OG 😂. Rad vid series dude. Well impressed on the DH result considering the trifecta of barely any practice, trail bike and flat pedals on a bumpy/pedally track 👊
Oh my word when ever phil smashes through something going like 40mph he scares me. Needless to say Phil is an inspiration
Dude love how u interact with the people, especially the young peep. Nice job Phil
12 seconds off Bruni on an enduro bike is very impressive... about time they give you a full dh rig and send you off to a WC race.
He has one. In the beginning of the series, he showed it but hes still waiting on suspension.
And he did not practice
And he had that little goof up in his run
Yeah, add a DH bike, proper training and nutrition and subtract an Enduro race and a whip off and see Phil inching into the top 10. In my book he's easily one of the fastest people on the planet.
To be fair Bruni probably only did this for fun and was not"tryhard racing" but just flowing it down doing zero risk. Afterall he is World Champ and Overall World Cup Winner and Season is over. He has nothing to win but everything to lose should he crash
Hey Phil you and Seth have inspired me to start mountain biking!
Try watching some Nare Hills footage too 🤙 His vids always make me wanna ride haha
First step to mtb; don't have x as your prof pic
Nah, first step into mtb is to not listen to the guy above. Do what you like, don't let others tell you how to live @AstroSwavy.
Bryan Jordan thanks 😂
Marm ok I will 👍🏼
6:49 the fastest time it one minute slower??!? 😂😂 great video
That was a typo in my part :P
Fastest time was 3:15 not 4:15, yeah.
But anyways, just 8 seconds slower. You can tell that these fast and technical sections are the ones where Phil can really shine. All this pedaling uphills in the second and third section wasnt his kind of terrain. He was really good there, too. No doubt. But when it gets scary fast and he can smash over rough sections then he is literally flying. Nice races, absolutely an inspiration.
I keep imagining myself hitting those turns at those speeds and it sounds like this: "waaaahhh" - as I go over the edge.
I’ve really enjoyed the kind of format you’ve been using in your recent videos. It’s been a good combination of vloggy personal interactions, POV footage, and cuts to you at home for context. Great work.👍
Yooo the transition in the beginning was sooo smooth
My kids and I love your videos man. Thanks for the entertainment! That’s got to get you pumped up hearing all the people yell your name and cheer for you on your runs!
I need to stop watching your videos before I go to bed. My heart is racing! Great result dude.
17:08 Phil giggles as he knows he's killing this s*** like a gangster end boss!
16:44 Rider: "Wanna do a train?"
Phil: I was thinking of having everyone hold my beer while I flip it!
Such a bad ass rider Phil, dang man. Legit!!!
"Yeah it rarely hits the bars."
*GoPro slams into bars 30 seconds later*
haha, you caught that too! It's one of the few times, but the timing couldn't have been more ironic!
I laughed at that one to!🤙
lol 02:24
Bringing the backflip to a whip contest is like bringing a gun to a knife fight 🤘
What a freaking Gangster Move‼️👍 That’s what keep us watching 😉Well Done💪💪
Best rider on youtube hands down
Vincent tupin... But otherr than that...
jordan boostmaster?
@@Thirdy_moto1427 i love jordan but i think phils a gnarlier rider tbh.
Phil's giggle after the flip is so wholesome - pure joy from being able to make people happy.
Dude, you're so down to earth. Absolutely love watching your videos. Don't change a thing.
What slowed down Phil was the pedally areas. The short pure downhill stage he was just few seconds behind the fastest on that stage.
something about Phil's laugh makes me smile. It gives me joy. His personality and everything is just amazing. If i'm having a bad day, ill just come watch one of his videos and my day gets a whole lot better.
Phil makes the world a better place to live in. Thank you Phil!
Phil it’s awesome watching your channel and influence grow all while seeing that your kindness, respect and humility grows along with it. Your riding is rad and when combined with a genuine, wholehearted character it brings this community together. Thank you and keep up the fantastic work.
I take my hat off to you Phil, there’s is no better rider on UA-cam , period. I could watch your videos all day long. Big respect to ya 👌
phil says he just going to enjoy his DH race run, sent in and did 12 secs off of bruni.. yeah, phil yeah!
Dude you have gotten so much better over the years I have been watching you forever and you are pretty much one of the sickest fastest you tubers on a bike man keep it up
What a great result, Phill! It's absolutely admirable considering how much fatigue had been built up in your body from the days prior. And the lack of proper focused practice makes it even crazier to think you're just 10 sec or so off from the world's best!
Loved the series! Was able to go to the Fox US Open and even said hi to you when I saw you, It was great reliving the awesome weekend through your eyes. Keep it up!
Rad content Phil! I will probably never race, but it was really entertaining to see you pick it apart. And that is a great skills tutorial!
Hey Phil! Loving all your latest videos. Particularly the parts where you jump in from sitting at your desk to provide some context or commentary. Keep up the great work!
Your videos are always awesome! Lived the actual downhill run as well as the practice runs where you are explaining your thoughts on lines. Thanks !
It's great to see you killing it with the steady stream of videos, the new sponsors, and a fantastic result in the DH. I hope Fox, GT, and NOBL are treating you well.
Love all these long videos! Great job jumping right back in to racing and kicking ass!
Love all the videos cant wait to see more. The favorite was the whip contest. Your abilities have been inspiring me to step up my riding skills. I must say my progression is a bit slow but its improving nicely!!! Thanks Phil!
Been riding for about a year now (after not riding a bike for over 20 years), struggled along some enduro and one or two DH tracks (Karkloof, Cascades, Hartbeespoort...). You make it look so easy, all while fearlessly blasting down at ridiculous speeds! Such an inspiration.
Phil thanks so much for filming this, I love enduro race/downhill POV. It’s fun to hear you check out the track and the see you bomb down it. I’m 50 and just entered my 1st race this year after not riding for the last 20. i raced some xc in the 90’s and BMX in the 80’s. Keep it cranking!
I like that your videos are longer Phil! Especially when you have quality ride footage (which you always do). Thanks man!
Awesome Phil.. great vid series and excellent result at U.S open...love your chilled out style and awesome riding and tips you give..cheers bro
Greetings from Norway! Man, I love your riding! Ik an old man (44) that is all new to mtb, but I'm looking forward to learning and getting out there. You are a good inspiration for an old man, so keep it up!
Phil, Love to see how you interact with your fans, one can't fake it, love how down to earth you are and always so respectful to everyone around you. much respect sir
I love this type of content where he really gets zoned in and just lets lose and just absolutely sends it. It makes me feel like I’m biking. love it keep up the good work
Awesome video Phil! Always enjoy your content. Really enjoyed your computer screen to video transitions. That back flip looked Savage
That shot of the flip was so good. I remember Alan Cooke for his flip one footed x-ups.
Dude! I'm impressed! Love your content man. I like the way you show full runs....not bits and pieces. You were like a celebrity up there! Keep it up :)
Phil is a madman. Such a good balance of smooth and aggressive. So fun to watch!!
Haven't ridden an MTB in years, you inspire me to get back into it. You are inspirational and humble, keep rocking it!
Like Always, Great content Phil.
My first time POV for a race, "knowing" the rider. Thanks a whole bunch. It's great to see you enjoying the ride and the channel. Great job!
freakin AWESOME man. had tons of fun watching u ride. thanks for the adventure!!
Phil - Loved this series, it was fun to watch you race - incredible that you did both endure and DH. The backflip was the icing, though. Very cool!
Thanks Phil for providing inspiration with ways to view and improve trail riding in all the videos. My son and I love watching you! Keep shredding
Really enjoyed seeing the progression each run to the final downhill run. Thanks!
The last 3 videos are just Epic. Very good work!
Thanks for another great video. I absolutely love your channel. Watching you ride inspires an old timer like me to get on my bike and go enjoy riding. Much love from South Africa
Your a stand up guy Phil & you can absolutely rip, for sure my favourite MTB youtuber & I watch them all. Keep the videos coming steady, I don't care about fancy editing, especially if it means 1 month between uploads... I love the content & connection to the character, thats what attracts a lot of people.
Nice 3-Part Series, Phil. Great riding too! That Flip was mint! Keep up the good work!
Next year, Phil + GT Fury + Proper Training, eaaassyy TOP 5. You the best man! Thank you for the amazing content and footage. Those POVs were absolutely phenomenal dude
Incredible as always, Phil! Much love, brother
You always show such joy, and you're kind. Good man, phil.
Your videos are awesome, Phil. Thank you for sharing!
Phil. Love your stuff. my fav parts of your videos is when you do flow trails that you're super confortable on. watching you glide down the mountain all smooth, spending all that time in the air.. a entire compilation of your favorite flow would be damn near ASMR. Keep being you, man, take care.
Great editing Phil. AND Sick skills. Thanks for the video
Loving this format mate. Keep it up!
I've loved these videos so much! Thanks man!
I love the way you are with your younger fans. I wish I had met dudes like you when I was 10 and looking for a role model. Keep shredding, brother!
Really enjoy your commentary and video footage makes us feel like we are in the cockpit..... awesome buddy and I really like your coaching videos I get so much out of them..... take care from Down Under
great energy. Super positive experience....and it was nice to uncurl my toes at the end of the downhill. :)
Wow Phil, it is awesome to watch you doing those races. Going downhill at that speed and more or less finding the right line, it is a sight to see. Keep it up dude.
You were FLYING, my dude. Complete monster. I know you were moving because I was about to run out of breath watching you, lol. You are insane!
Haha, I was definitely out of breath myself. Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope to see you around the comments more!
I miss riding bikes sooo much! So I live vicariously through your old content. Ya freakin wild savage doin backflips and multiple race disciplines! Blown away.
Phil, you have a heart of gold and everybody sees your true character shining through with your genuine congruent passion towards others, not to mention your "skills", be safe brother
Insane riding, love your videos man! You were rippin!
Dude, pretty cool. Thank you for the content. Have a blast
Great video Phil! Crazy speed you're going at! Keep up the good work!
Awesome video's!!!! Thanks for doing this. You are insane fast going down hill. Love the whistler video's (insane).
The whole series of videos from US Open have been great, solid riding out there man!
Enjoyed all the Whistler series Phil. Some great videos and you just seem like a really nice bloke. All the best and keep on with the output :D
And i thought the last video was awesome but this tops it, i am just blown away by your handling of the bike at those speeds and your amazing skill level (credit where credit is due). So inspired to push harder now. I now have placed you as my favorite you tube rider!!
shredding hard. love your vids!!
Woooo!! go phil!! that was awesome how many people recognized you and gave support
You're real, therefore the best. You lay it all out there for us and for that, I am grateful! Thank you for the sick edit! Oh yeah that backflip was sick!
17.00 Phil you're such a crowd pleasing tart 🤣🤣🤣
Such a great vid bud 👊
The Tache is look sweet
You killed it riding miracle mile, today was Summit's last day of the season, I couldn't even comprehend going that fast today on those trails, hats off my bru !! Very happy Summit hosted the US Open as a SoCal mtb'r! Summit needed this!
Again a superb video, thanks. Nice to see that you are an inspiration to young riders :)
Yo as soon as I leave Korea & move to Washington I’m gonna start riding and getting into this because it seems like so much fun & my kind of sport I’m super stoked! you’re such an inspiration dude keep up the good work!!
Dude your videos are awesome. Downhill run was wild
Great series. Nerve racking to watch the rock garden smashing. Good racing!
I loved watching the race videos and you going through your practice. Would love to see more
really like the video phil, i'am always following your new video! keep riding dude
Wow man! Ive been watching your informational videos and enjoying them, but this is cool to see you in full berserker mode.
Phill. I never watch UA-cam videos over 10 minutes but I've watched this on my Phone and now I watched it on my tv.. great video 👍👍👍👍👍 I give 5 thumbs up
Is that because youtubers can only monetise videos over ten mins and you don't want them making money? Haha
@@Phahel7 no. I just don't want to stare at my Phone for more then 10 mins.. I usually get board so I saying this video kept my attention the whole time
Killing it bruh!💪😎 awesome job!
Hell yeah! I really hope they bring the USO back to the east coast for next year! Another great series Phil!
Very nice! Loved the flip. It's always a thrill putting myself in your place. I'm 67 and don't have the reaction time to do anything but small jumps and drops. I really like your videos and you have affected me more than anyone when it comes to mountain biking. Thanks
wow - just wow.. skills with phils indeed. Glad I found this channel. Love it!
