Welcome back to Unguided, where I'm trying to complete every quest in old school runescape without using a guide, wiki or plugins. I'll only be using my limited knowledge and in-game learnings. Full rules below.
RULES
- No use of OSRS wiki (or any equivalent) for anything - this includes looking up item spawns, quest guides, boss guides, anything
- No use of any other quest helper sites
- No use of quest helper plugin
CAVEATS
- I love OSRS UA-cam, I might inadvertently learn something I don't know by watching my favourite content creators, but I'm not going to stop watching them so that's just a risk I'm willing to take + it's unlikely going to be relevant for me
- I may use some QoL plugins, but only a few. Loot tracker to prove grinds, ground items so I don't miss drops and left click to use bones. Nothing that will give me info I didn't previously have
- I'm going to try and avoid any spoiler comments. If you can, please try not to help me if there's an episode where I'm stuck on something. I appreciate the sentiment but telling me an item spawn or quest step could spoil the fun :)

@@AlienFoodageAlso, ALL the White knights are Word plays, and are pronounced as is. Sir Amik Varse is ceramic vase. Not gonna spoil more, but you will get a chuckle when you get em. Lokking forward for the next quest in that line

Really glad that he decided to actually check the food shops all across the map instead of settling on the first source of chocolate he found. Lot of people would just find one place and be fine with it, but that grand tree place is by far the best source of chocolate dust and works great even for early UIM progress

Absolutely solid effort on that herblore grind! Looks like such a tough skill to focus level. As you said, will hopefully be easier once you start getting seeds and herbs from slayer monsters or such.

It is really validating to have someone trying an ironman for the first time dunk on herblore an appropriate level. I've picked up osrs a couple times after watching content and I always end up dropping in during a farming grind or a herblore. Nowadays anytime I catch the OSRS bug and want to get started I think: "remember the slow walks, remember the herblore" 💀

I have a feeling the next episode is going to be a labor of love.
With good prayer bonus gear and occasional prayer-flicking you can get by with just a falador shield 1 or 2, saving you the herblore grind for later.
Keep it up these episodes are so good
Classic runescape, have a goal and proceed down a trail of 20 nested subgoals.

Hey man, really enjoying your series. Binging it hard. If i may suggest something to help. Try to get your achievement diaries done. There a lot of benefits, and xp lamps can be used on skills you hate, or hard to train (like herblore). Thanks for the videos. If i could sub more then once I would, as I'm thoroughly enjoying your series.

6:13 all the druids have funny names that sound like other words, just like knights. For example, Sir Prysin is just pronounced "surprising", and Sir Vyvin is "survivng". Kaqemeex is just pronounced "cake mix".

Actually you can get chocolate dust and other useful items from the *redacted* if you do the quest *redacted*. Pretty cool huh?! Hope this helped 😉

I actually like the item sourcing that comes with herblore. Without guides of where to get specific stuff, and not knowing the XP rates, youre forced to theorycraft for yourself. Compare to combat where its the same dozen or so spots that everyone knows and going AFK

Herblore makes me happy I play a normal account, and I'm already not looking forward to dropping bank again to 99 it down the line (got 99 back in '09, sadly that's RS3 now). No way my sanity could handle dealing with getting the herbs, I can barely tolerate farming as-is.

I feel like you could be allowed to ask a player how they obtained an item they have equipped, or possibly even the drop rate. Otherwise, good luck finding out how to imbue the magic short bow.
Yeah I might start incorporating that to some degree a bit but for now trying to go in as blind as possible, even when I see some sweet as starry magic bow lol
great job, man. I think you should allow mile stone every 20 lvls. You can look up something in the wiki skill or pvm related not to include quest stuff.
If I get really stuck further in I definitely might incorporate some system like this!
really late in watching this series, but lmao. efficient UIMs don't even train major portions of herblore except in big batches - literally collecting tens of thousands of herbs and keeping them in a looting bag until ready to be processed.
I get that you don't know what you don't know, but man I'm frustrated on your behalf that you weren't aware of the master farmers in Hosidius or the unicorns just west of Catherby. Twice in this video you said "I need to find some of these" when you were right there already, and ended up trekking halfway across the map to go to where you did know they were.
But hey - that's the nature of this series, and it wouldn't be special without it. So keep up the good work!
Obviously very late here, but with stuff like the magic shortbow, like if you see an item on someone and you're curious, I think asking other players for info on stuff like that is okay. It's not a guide, the wiki or a plugin, so long as you don't ask for a solution to all your problems it could enrich your account a fair amount.
I'm sure you've realized this by now but early farming and herblore is best trained by doing other quests - assuming you didn't have prior knowledge of that and couldn't look it up. Tbh the hardest push is from 70-90 herb on an iron cause it's a big swathe of xp but your account isn't quite ready to start banging out all the herb friendly pvm options
Yeah herblore is the worst iron skill. I'd like to see the numbers from jagex for what xp lamps are used for on irons lol I certainly have used every single one on it

I love that you skipped over the NPC you were close to for a further one not once but twice in this episode.
4:49 You talk about heading to Draynor for Master Farmers while one of the Hosidius Master Farmers is literally on-screen.
8:32 You head to Varrock for Unicorns while the Catherby ones were just off-screen to the north-west.
Herblore is the best skill! It is a massive grind tho.

So...I'm debating whether what I'm thinking of telling you is spoiler or just revealing the inner workings of something you are already doing...Since i'm debating it, i'll just leave it alone though unless you say otherwise. It's about farming and getting seeds and thus getting herbs.
Solid episode otherwise though! The frustration at the grind is real! :P
There absolutely are better ways to gather resources for herblore! Some at higher levels/behind quests/content And others you could do right now. So maybe some exploration is in order!
I have been doing a Slayer Drops only account and It has been quite fun having to explore bits of the world others haven't to find stuff the wiki doesn't really care about. It was really hard to find rope at first. Really hard.

Suggestion that might or might not spoil the experience (i think it doesnt since it complies with the rule of not using info from outside the game itself), read under your own risk (?)
Since you are only using info provided by the game and not going the efficiency way, the reqs for a quest suggest what xp is PROBABLY (but not always the case) gonna be rewarded, skipping a potential grind and it keeps you busy on the main goal which is getting quests done.

I respect the process, but why not look into some quests that could reward herblore xp? If it requires herblore it probably rewards herblore, could have saved yourself a couple of days of grinding there.
If you need more herbs and you still didn't know: Flash Crawlers in the stronghold of security is the best place for herbs. You get TONNNNNSSSS down there. You can also get a herb sack from a slayer master for slayer points.

Imagine grinding to get max hosidius favour only for them to remove hosidius favour and all the benefits of it RIGHT after you got it....I can...I hate all you who voted to remove it without demanding we keep the rewards....
I know this is cheating but get the chemistry necklace to help with herblore like the prayer one. You have one more dose chances. The guy at ge area can make in 1 to 4 dose and any left like 4 dose and can make in a 4 dose. Kinda confusing how I saying it and yes I understand it.
