That material on the stair case isnt for skate stoping, it’s so there is more friction when it rains and the stairs get slippery

Used to skate all day every day growing up, now I’m a civil engineer and it pains me to see kids grinding up on my freshly paved and cemented ledges 🤣😭
Now I understand where all the “haters” were coming from when I was growing up.
Skating does damage public property but I would never in a million years tell them to leave, seeing kids outside instead of indoors will always make me happier than keeping them off my beautiful hard work.
I have the same conflict as I've aged. Somewhere between "yes, you are wearing down or even damaging property that's not yours" versus "it's okay to have some fun in life". It's a hard balance to find.
tbh grinding on rough cement does more damage to the board then the cement

I just has a Sunday with perfect weather in The Bay Area. I rode my longboard into work on a main street at about 20mph for about 20min... That was all I got in for riding. Tomorrow I'll probably skate there and back like I usually do. You're on an epic level to be able to enjoy these Sundays in such a free way.

This is the life I want to live. I am 16 at the moment and when I turn 18 I'm moving to San Francisco. The place is beautiful to me and I don't care about how expensive it is or the hobos, I just want to enjoy my young adult hood as a skater; and I will probably be homeless, but I could care less.
