As a fellow skateboarder (for over 10 years) studying graphic design, editing, and even animation just to get an AA degree at my local community college. I can say that I find your journey to be very intriguing. Cant wait to see what you do next.

@@legoanakin5000 my friend is a graphic designer and didnt even finish college so it seems like you can kinda just do it haha. Getting work that you feel confident pitting in a portfolio w/o real design experience is hard which is why school helps but its definitely not required if you want it enough.
@@legoanakin5000 idk how it works in the US but ig pick art in high school finish that apply to whatever yall do after like in England we do a 2 year course before uni so do art and design there. Make a portfolio of work then apply to a graphic design degree at uni. But you don't need to do that try and get a portfolio of art work and then apply. Just check what each uni wants in an application. But a degree isn't necessary to become a graphic designer

@@malopowers6195 you dont need any art in hs and theres no course between highschool and college here in the US. So you kinda just pick art as your major then focus your classes on what you want to learn.
It feels so surreal to have someone idk in real life but have watched for years respond to my question, but it did help a lot and i think the whole idea to build the community by answering questions is great, thank you!

Love your videos John, My 2 sisters went to collage, one was a nurse and the other a teacher.
Both have a insane amount of collage debt and they both hated their jobs so much that they quit after 10 years.
My brother and I didn't want your "normal" job so we have worked misc farm jobs while trying to do what we love.
I have started a UA-cam channel making fun crazy things in the shop while my brother has written probably 15 stories and just published his first book (Love, Sorrow, and the In-Between).
I believe it is important to do what you love for a living cause it's not worth working your life away at a job you hate.

yeah it could always go either way. my brother graduated with a masters in computer engineering and quit his career after a few years because he said it was soul crushing. the hardest part is the delusion that college will give you a future. it only exists to give you an infrastructure to figure out what you want to do with your life, if you can do it elsewhere, same benefit, less cost.

I'm a college student in computer science right now, but it's been 6 years since I started college and I found that I just enjoyed working more than schooling to give myself a break from how much I did in highschool. Sure, I didn't go to college, graduate in 4 years and get a career wife and family right away, but I've been able to grow and experience things in life that'll help me when I am ready to do those things. Not everything has to be rushed into and it's ok to let yourself enjoy the time you have sometimes.

I did my entire freshman year of college and realized I wasn’t getting as much out of it as I should. I really think it’s smart to take time after graduating high school to just be independent and learn how to be an adult also work jobs and find what you like and don’t like so you can get a degree in something you know you want to do

Have you ever tried painting w/guoache?? It’s like a thick water color. Back in the days before computers graphic artist would use it to get a solid smooth paint. They key is to find out how much water to use. Too little and it looks like oil too much it looks like water color.

Art tip! Add a bit more coats of paint, with a roller to achieve a good, flat, solid colored area on the canvas :)

I wish my local skatepark was like that, mine has been neglected almost since it was built. The town re-built the courts next to it but kept the skatepark the same. The some cracks in the concrete have caught bike tires.
