Thanks for watching. This mower, ran last year, but after winter storage, it's not wanting to start.
This video is meant as entertainment, always practice safety.
I bought my lawn mower 3 years ago. First year it ran great. Second year would not start. My son was supposed yo fix it but never got around to it. Today I tried draining old gas from the tank n putting in fresh gas and carb cleaner. Nothing. I sprayed carb cleaner thru the holes on the side where the air filter is located. It tried to run but kept cutting off. I watched your video and followed your instructions and it started on the very first crank!! Thanks for the video, Im happy my lawn mover is running again. Not bad for a 63 year OLD lady
wow, excellent work! you did a great job at fixing it. Thank you Helene Polascik
Those aren't dogs, those are cyotes
lol.. yes I know
You can't keep anything in Memphis to black steel everything to get their hands on
After watching your videos I went back and lubed my two mowers. It made a big difference. I plan to take your advice and make lubing the wheels part of my spring maintenance routine.
I agree with others that said those aren’t dogs. They’re definitely coyotes. Keep an eye on your kids and pets.
Cheers
thank you Ez Ray, I plan on making a better set up to show the effects of lubing the wheels, and yes, I already knew they were coyotes, I was playing as though I didn't know. they are quite neat looking though.
The best video I've seen showing how yo work on any mower. Great close ups to see just what you're doing, and great explanations.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for helping me to help my sister get her lawnmower working!
no problem and thank you for the comment
U r a God! I looked up the manual for this on Briggs and Stratton and it wasn't there. Found it on troybilt and it was the WRONG ENGINE!! Your videos are invaluable. Please don't stop.!!
Glad I could help
Thank you for sharing. I followed your steps and took my mother's mower that had sat for a year and took it from not starting to fully functioning.
no problem and good work getting working again
Thank you for the clear instructions! Got my mower going again, easy peasy!
no problem and thank you
My neighbor gave me Honda hrs216pda mower after I got it running and it was like trying push a pile of bricks so I tried your trick grease the wheels and so easily to push thanks for the tip
nice work Ricard Boggs and thank you
I use white lithium grease on the steering components on my husqvarna riding mower. Makes it much easier to steer
me too, thank you Mike's Garage.
Great vid again mate, Lubricating the wheels is a great tip would do as a routine now. Every little bit of drag you can eliminate is a bonus for the user. Cheers.
thank you Aussie nebula.
Another white lithium grease in a spray can user here. I think it makes the machine roller easier & extends the life of the wheels.
thank you Tom Lewis, I completely agree with you
Thank you Thank you Thank you! I had a brand new troy-bilt self propelled mower I purchased last year. I had only used a handful of times and I go to start it up this year and it did did not want to start. I went through your steps to clean out the carburetor and it started right up on the 3rd pull. I'm super happy!
Glad I could help
Yes I try and do it once or twice a mowing season.
Troybult tb200s are one of my favorite troybult models
Nice
this video worked for me clearing the jet... thank you
you're welcome
Good day Yes yes yes. Many yrs ago we had manure spreader 2 handles to put in gear, went really hard , got home oil every part that moved from there it almost fell in gear. Thanks
you're welcome.
@@HomeGaragechannel You make good videos Thanks
Lubricating the wheels is such a simple, yet effective way to keep your mower healthy, so I'll definitely be doing that to every mower in the future. I have two older German mowers (Solo and Sabo brand respectively) and I was pleasantly surprised to find actual needle bearings in the wheels. I removed all the old and dirty grease, put new grease in and they're rolling so effortlessly now.
wow, nice, never heard of needle bearing in wheels but it's better than the alternative.
I love your channel and your personality btw. Your presentation is wonderfully simple and to the point, you have such a pleasant voice and I've picked up a couple of things already from watching your videos. Just this week I was tinkering with a Stihl FS 38 trimmer that wouldn't start and I knew how to inspect the carb and what to look for just because of you . It still doesn't run, but that's besides the point lol. Also I really appreciate that you're always in the comments talking to your community and answering questions, I love that kind of interaction. Thank you for your content, keep it up!
I will thanks
I usually give mine a shot at the 1st of the mowing season. That's when I hit all the Snapper drive stuff as well and controls and sucvh.Every little bit helps and I've seen air filters oil soaked like that one from turning them over the wrong way. Thanks and Blessings! Happy weekend too!
thank you Lewie McNeely
@@HomeGaragechannel U 2!
Yes I always lube the wheels, good video Sir.
You and me both!
I’ve had a Troy bolt before, I’ve had several issues relating to the carb and I’ve had to replace it twice in a year due to disassembly issues. After I fixed it and it broke down, I decided to get a Honda hrn216 Vya. Great mower.
yes the honda is a great mower, even the HRN with all Its costs savings.
Honda ? 🤣
I've a Troy bilt however with the Honda engine. 2017 model year.
Your a blessing
hey I appreciate the kind words.
Great video going give it a try. I hope it’s the same issue with mine as well, symptoms are identical and I have that exact mower.
thank you Surfing The Tube
Hey bro nice video. Is this a flathead engine? To me it looks like a flathead engine. I was wondering when you're servicing a piece of equipment do you do a general to the equipment or just what needs to be fixed from what the owner told you that needs fixing?
no it's an OHV, and it depends what's wrong with it, This one is only a starting issue, but if there was more, I would tell them, and let them decide.
@@HomeGaragechannel nice that's good to know bro👍👍
Wheel lube is an excellent idea that we are sometimes too lazy to do.
I hear you, the least I would do, is spray some WD40 near the bolt, not as effective but still very helpful
Hey so a one of my friends and I were thinking about using the motor from a Honda hrx 217 (a gcv 200 motor) as a go kart motor. I was wondering if we could use the self propel and transmission system out of the mower on the go kart. If not do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
Y’a get Bon lazare to bild you à motor 🛸🚀
Bob
unfortunately the transmission is not geared to go more than 4 or 5 miles an hour. Even if, you over turned the pulley faster, it would only go 7 mph at most.
@@HomeGaragechannel do you think it would be possible to re-gear the transmission?
maybe but it wouldn't be cost effective. I would take the transmission from a riding mower, that has a lever for each speed, 1-5 or 1-7, something like that. Do not pick one that has an "automatic" because they Can't be "overdriven"
Wile Coyote in the back yard :-)
to be honest, they stay away from me and my animals.
those dogs are Coyotes, also what i do to deal with fuel lines and to minimise fuel spills is i remove the carb with the fuel tank with the hose still attached and separate off the engine, removal of the engine cover is needed tho, plus draining the fuel is easier to me that way too.
thank you j r.
Its amazing how cheap they build products with plastic now days .
I know right
And still charge you an arm and a leg. These mowers cost $400 new.
Good video as always. Look again at the "dogs" at 8:38. I think you have two
coyotes. Look at their black tipped tails and compare it to a picture of a coyote.
lol.. yes I was aware they were coyotes, I was just introducing them, in a fun way.
Seems like a common issue. I see that all the time
I have a very similar problem but with multiple mowers and for the life of me I cannot get any idea of what exactly is wrong with them and I’m ready to Chuck them all to the curb I also have a rider toro and Troy bilt that do the same things and none of this is the issue!! What else do you suggest?
I really don't have much to add, if you checked for spark and compression, then the carb and fuel system are at fault.
Yes 👍
When will people start upgrading these mowers so it isn’t a issue to crossing your fingers each year to wonder if they’ll ever start.
not sure, I'm sure it's an issue of money
Skiddish dogs lol
What does stale fuel look like ?
dark brown
How do I find a tutorial for my specific model?
you mean from my video library or a tutorial from Someones else? The answer to the first would be to ask me and give me the model and serial number. And as for the second, I have no idea.
You recently buy a Superbird?
lol.. I see what you did there.
Great video as always but those dogs are coyotes!!
Yes they are!
I had to disassemble my Troy-Bilt carb and put it in my ultrasonic cleaner to fix it. I wasn’t so fortunate.
sorry to hear that.
the chain is moving on the sthil 031 av and something got caught in there
Hello, I noticed my mower, when self-driving, tends to pull slightly to the left but just enough that I have to correct it every once in a while. Can you offer any insight in this issue? Thanks.
I would have to know the model and serial number to better help you. But if I had to guess , either one wheel is getter better traction, or the gearbox isn't sending power equally to both wheels.
I have added a little fuel system cleaner to the gas to solve problems like this.
that works too.
Dogs? I do believe those were coyotes, that’s why they were skittish. Yes I would lube the wheels. Why push a mower with the wheels dragging when you can lube them and push with ease.
I already knew they were coyotes, just seeing what kind of reaction i would get by showing them.
@@HomeGaragechannel good one! You got me. Lol
Those dogs looked like coyotes to me
lol... yes those are coyotes, I wanted to see how many could identify them.
I've used ANTI SEIZE on Axle bolts for years .
Had to remove the jet assembly and clean it with the wire.
That works!
The dogs are coyotes
Those plastic cabs are just such cheap and nasty things. Plastics are find when used in the right areas along with metal or brass inserts and other parts in areas where stress and other things like removing parts could cause the plastic to break. But with those carbs they seems to be all plastic with inserts in stressed areas so its easy to see why so many have had issues with them.
I know right, these definitely some major cons to them.
Soon
Still can’t get mines to start
sure, try replacing the carb
@@HomeGaragechannel do you have a video on that
sure,
ua-cam.com/video/KTl3Z6i7DNE/v-deo.htmlsi=_Pal5SLYCIv4lM9W
Those are coyotes.
yes they were. They live in the tall grass about 300 feet from where I film.
I don't think those were dogs, wolf maybe?
they're coyotes
@@HomeGaragechannel awesome
Get to the fn point
sure
Great video-saved my ass-thanks🫡😉🙏
Glad it helped
Government: "we need to eliminate plastic waste"
Mower manufacturers: "hold my metal. let's make these mowers 90% plastic. At least we'll have more plastic than credit card companies"
Lubricating your wheels can make a huge difference, self propelled mowers experience less stress on the engine and push mowers will easily glide on their own. I lubricate my wheels at the start of every season.
you are exactly right.
lubing the wheels is brilliant, great video
Thanks 👍
I have the exact same carburetor it's on a Craftsman push mower I've cleaned it three times and it's still spits and sputters and black smoke comes out of the muffler any idea
are you confirming the choke system is working like it should? Also, who is the Air filter?
The choke works the way it's supposed to it still does it with air filter off
from what you've told me, it would sound as though the carb has an issue, and needs to be replaced again.
@@HomeGaragechannel I did order one strange thing is it was working fine before all that
Hah. Nice doggy. I think one's name is Wile E.
thank you 47HudsonTruck for getting the joke, luckily the stay away from me.
I think that those 2 dogs are actually foxes or coyotes !
Step 1: Do the ole "I KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT!! AINT GOT NO GAS IN IT. MMHHHM." ✅
Once again simplicity is always the answer. Thanks for your video dude.
thank you Growing Little Country homestead.
Wow all those plastic parts. Seems like a bummer to me though. I am learning more and more about those plastic carbs which is good for me. That was a relatively easy fix for you but the customer will be really happy about the repairs. Mower sounded perfect to me. Thanks for the videos.
thank you D Butler
I also have that mower and it has worked for years
Cool. It's good that you're getting the performance and service from your equipment👍
nice! oh by the way, I got the supra running, just need to make a silencer for the tailpipe and it'll be driving again.
Good job, I’m going to lube my wheels later today great idea 💡
thank you mix x.
Ummm stay clear of those "dogs" they're coyotes.
lol.. I already knew that.
I would be leery at lubing the wheel axles as it can attract dirt and dust. A dry lube might work better.
sure can
Exactly.
Those “dogs” look friendly, I suggest after getting that mower serviced, call them over for some play time. 😂. JK i like how you handled that interruption….. good one..!
lol.. to be honest, I really wish I could get some of a rapport with them, just not a close one.
Those aren’t dogs, those are coyotes, real vicious animals that can easily kill pets. I’ve never dealt with them at my place but several other wildlife animals do come around the back. This one time a big white tail buck with massive antlers passed through my backyard, it was really amazing to watch. And then there are the raccoons, I often have to trap and shoot them because they’re constantly ripping up my neighbors gardens.
the "dogs" comment, was meant as a joke. Yes we get this pair and a third, along with the pups too. We also get raccoons every night along a few possums. tank you Smallengineworld BCSERK.
Lol, definitely don't pet the black and white kittens, they stink!
do a pool and pro 2055 I fixed one for five bucks and it doesn't work and it's still now works chainsaw only I had to put his the primer hose in the gas hose that's all I had to do for five bucks I fixed it
Those wheel adjusters on troybilts are such a pain and poorly engineered( cheap) glad Wiley and his friend kept on moving.
thank you Andy Hamilton, I'm glad you caught the joke about the coyotes being dogs.
👍👍👍👍.i.put my money on the air filter as cause of the no start issue is running away
thank you Robert Maihos
@@HomeGaragechannel you are welcome young man 😎👍
yep for sure i would give my lawn mower wheels a good lubricate and our Victa 2 strokes need a little bit of care from time to time etc.
thank you Patrick Stapleton.
@@HomeGaragechannel my pleasure mate and stay safe.
I'm afraid I am guilty of neglecting greasing the wheels, BUT no longer!
it happens.
👍
Yes, lube the wheels and cables if it has them. All moving parts usually need lube. Thanks
Right on
You should of disconnect the spark plug when inspected the blade.
Yes, it doesn’t hurt to lubricate the wheels
you make a good point .
Thanks for your help, you are very fluent not only in speaking & explaining, but in how you approached the problems at hand. Excellent work & you sound confident .
I really appreciate that
love the new vid showing the new "technology" of mowers....plastic bowls...plastic parts ...wonder if its easier/cheaper for manufacturer and if spare parts have hit the market yet....plastic is attached to plastic
thank you SwingerVic.
Once I watch this video i lubricated the wheels on my lawnmower. It never cross my mind. Great repair 👍🙏👍🙏👍🙏
thank you RayFpv, I think It makes a big difference.
@@HomeGaragechannel it sure does. Thanks 👍🙏👍🙏
Those were coyotes
yes they were
@HomeGaragechannel you also helped me fix my lawn mower thanks runs like a baby now
Love the video
thank you Gavin Cooper.
My grandma's 15 year old Honda has never had its carb cleaned
wow, that's pretty amazing.
Them coyotes were waitin on some treats to be tossed their way. Don't see them out much in the day like that but that was pretty neat
I know right, it was late in the afternoon, almost dinner time when they came by
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇲🇽
Thank you so much for your video! What was the size of the Allen wrench?
you mean for the drain plug? 10mm
Enjoyed the video there. Usually the culprit on those plastic carbs is the main jet but I do the same with the wheels I put lubricant on them also.
I know right, these are so synonymous for clogged jets.
mu troybilt SUCKS! 3 CARBS later I'm done!
wow, those carbs just don't last do they!
Umm off topic a bit but those "dogs" look suspiciously like coyotes 😮
yes they are coyotes
It's better to take the carb off and clean it and take it apart
I agree
I replaced the spark plug and filter, now just completed cleaning the carburetor. I think there may be gas in the bowl because I had to turn the mower on it's side to tighten the screws...will this be a problem and/or dangerous? Thank you for the video.
it depends. If you turned the mower with the carb facing up, you're okay. If you faced the carb towards the ground, there should have been oil and gasoline leaking from it.
@@HomeGaragechannel Great, I'll try to start it and see if repaired it. Thank you for responding.
no problem and good luck
Thank you for this. My Filter got gas on it. I just bought the dang thing too. Appreciate your video. Here's a thumbs up and a comment
I really appreciate it
I have a question so I have a craftsman with a Briggs and Stratton 7.25hp it was running bad so I put a new spark plug in it now it dosent run even on the old plug it wouldn’t I have a video of what it was doing before it stopped running
I'm not sure what the last part of your question is saying.
@@HomeGaragechannel I was wondering if I could send a video of what it was doing to see if you could give me ideas to fix
I lube the wheels if the mower doesn't roll easily.
yes sir.
make sure you tell homie to sharpen his blades cuz those be looking kind of rough
yes it does.
Thank You so much for your video.
You are welcome!
those wern't dogs. Those are coyotes.
you are correct
the skittish dogs are coyotes
yes they are
Question: Have my Troy Built push mower (about 10 years old) set at the highest cutting level yet it's still too low. What to do?
do you know if the blade adaptor was ever replaced? I'm wondering because if the wrong one was installed it could put the blade lower Than it should be. Question, how thick do you want your lawn to be? More than 4 inches? If so, you'll need a different mower
Thanks.
my pleasure
I have a stihl trimmer that I got off the curb. I shot some gas in the carb and it fired for a few seconds. Pumping and metering diaphragm are fine and the main jet is not clogged. The only issue is that it will not draw fuel when I try to prime it. I can see the gas moving back and forth in one of the fuel lines, but it never makes it to the carb. Any thoughts?
yes the check valve under the bulb, might be bad. Try filling the tank, all the way , and that might make up for the bad valve.
