If Your Push Mower Won't Start, Do This! A step by step guide to getting your push mower running.

- Spring has arrived and like millions of others, I was faced with a no start condition on my AWD Husqvarna push mower. This mower like 90% of all mowers came with a Briggs and Stratton engine, and this mower, like 40% of them this spring just didn't want to start, and even with starter fluid it wouldn't stay running.
I hope you will watch this video and find it useful. A few tools and a $2.00 can of brake cleaner will get your mower back up and running!

I LITERALLY have 4 mowers and the last stopped working yesterday. Today I watched your video 2x because I wanted to commit your walk through to memory. I started on the oldest mower and after cleaning the Carburetor and flushing the fuel lines it started and runs fine now. Needless to say the other 3 mowers are now all working properly. A professional quoted me 300 to work on all four. I spent less than 20 bucks and this walk through and have all working in under 3 hours (took breaks for dad life 😂). Sir I sincerely thank you for your video and does anyone want to buy a working mower ... I have 3 extra now 😅
I am glad that you were able to get all of yours running- $300 is kinda highway robbery if you ask me, Thank you for the kind words
How much u want
Can you please tell us more about the mowers you're selling? I'm looking for another front wheel drive self propelled mower. I cut a river fishing trail through the woods of a family farm. Upstream trail goes about 200 yards and X2 for the downstream trail. Both are 4 or 5 feet wide gets narrow in some spots with 8 foot banks. Can't fit a riding mower. So I need all the help I can get. Self propelled mower with a mulching blade gets it done. Then we spray the trail with white distilled vinegar. Good day of sunlight cooks it all..nn doesn't hurt any animals or aquatuc life. Sets up to only need 2 or 3 cuts per summer. Yeah I need a 2nd mower... lol
Apologies folks I sold two already and keeping one as a backup. My mowers weren't nothing special just old murrys.
Here's a problem free tip, that works for the life of the mower. Whenever I fuel up my mower, I'll drop about half a cap of Marvel Mystery oil in the fuel tank. Also in the oil. Going on 40 years, 22" Snapper, 4hp. self propelled. Couple of exhaust valves, along the way.
This man deserves a standing ovation. Lots of people on UA-cam will only share knowledge if you'll pay for it. I wanna say thank you because you've saved people a bunch of money 💰. But I've always wanted to learn small engine repair. Jets ski's, lawn mowers, zero turn mowers. It seems like it's always the most simplest thing that stops an engine from operating. You got my utmost respect bro. 😎👍🤙☝️
I appreciate that! This is one of the reasons why I make these videos it to help others.
Yeah he does YUB NUB LOL
This comes off as overly pestimistic about youtube. I do find several videos of people helping others.
Hh
Superb instructional video! Unlike other videos I checked out, yours is Concise yet no steps whatever skipped over. Thank u SO much!
Thank you for the kind words, I try to make videos that anyone could follow.
Old gas in the mower was the issue. Drained it, put new gas in and it started right up. Thank you!
Glad to hear it!
Very nice, good info, straight to the point, no bad jokes, no anyoing music... love it!
Thank you for the kind comments. I try to get to the point versus the videos that never do
Can’t thank you enough. Went from a mower that wouldn’t start to fully functioning. Changed the spark plug after the carburetor clean because it was starting and dying. I’ve never done this before and you made it simple.
I am glad to hear that you were able to get your mower working again!
I was trying to start my mower for 20 minutes exhausted and disappointed I googled why my husqvarna mower wouldn’t work. This was the first video. I did exactly what he said and BAM! First pull the mower started right up! Thank you so much!
Glad I could help!
I have this exact mower and have been messing with it for 2 years trying to figure why it wouldn't work right. Exactly what I needed thank you.
I am glad that I could help you
Just wanna throw a huge THANK YOU for this video. You easily took me step by step into getting my mower running like new again!!! 10 year old mower starts again like I just bought it! Thanks again!!!
That is why I make these videos, thank you for the kind words
80in and 😅w have to
930 last night, I got the mower working. Good video sir, ty
Glad to hear it!
Wow! This is great! The instructions were precise and helpful! While I was dreading it before, I feel like I am now ready to attempt to fix my non-running lawnmower. Well done! Thanks for sharing this.
You got this!
If it's a relatively new mower, this is probably pretty good advice. If it's an older mower, and your diaphragm is stiff, you just went through all of these steps for NUTHIN because it still won't start, because he didn't go deep enough into the carburetor.
I knew I could trust a guy from the mountains on NC
There are some good people up here,
This video just saved me a bunch of money . Very well done ! Easy to follow and the camera angles were perfect ! Much thanks !
thank buddy from joe from los angeles
Thank you for an informative video. I'm ready to have my push mower running again, and after seeing this video, I am confident that it will be. Gather my supplies & go to it.
Just take your time and you will be fine.
I had a lawn mower sitting for 3 years and with good reason it wouldn’t start. I followed the instructions and started right away. Thanks!
Thanks for the informative video, Eric. It truly was a real help! And now after getting my mower going again (because of your help here), my wife has dubbed me "the lawn mower whisperer". Don't worry, I told her the credit really belonged to you! Anyway, thanks again!
I have not been using my Pushmore for over a year. I’ve just been using the John Deere and my Weedwhacker. Thank you for making this video! I can now use it!! I barely had to pull the string and it started right up. Thank you thank you thank you and thank you again. You are my hero.
When you put it on, that was music to my ears!!😅😅😊😊🎉😂
I am glad that I could make some music for you.
I don't normally comment but your video is very well done and fixed the problem with my neighbors mower. It also allowed me to find the cause of the problem. He has dirt in his gas can. Thanks so much for your time. I just subscribed and look forward to watching your other videos.
Glad it helped- it is comments like this that makes it worth while.
Thank you
So I knew I was about to do this very thing but haven’t worked on a lawnmower in a long time.. Thank you for posting this! I knew it was super simple anyhow but just seeing someone else knock out cleaning the carburetor before I went and took the same task on was nice!
I am in awe. What you did in less than 20 minutes would take me all day! Subbed!!
That is years of work as a mechanic, there is no shame in taking all day to do it. Anyone can do this job, just take your time and you will be fine
I just followed your instructions in this video and now my lawnmower is working again. Thank you so much for your help.
glad to hear that you were able to fix it- Take care my friend
You’re the best! This was the best video and easiest to follow along side by side. Thank you. I can scratch this off the honey do list. I even fixed my neighbors mower and earned the money it took to pay for my parts lol. Simple and free. I appreciate this video a lot. Thanks
Awesome! Thank you for the kind words and I am glad this helped save you guys some money!!
I have similar mower. Followed his instructions step by step. Very simple/easy honestly. One yank of the cord and Boom, got my mower running.
Great to hear! Glad it helped!!
This was perfect-minus running to the store and gathering my tools, it took me about 20 minutes, and a mower that wouldn’t start ran like it was brand new. Great video, thanks!
Glad it helped!
Thanks, my mower wouldn’t start no matter how many times I pulled on it. Watched the video, followed along on my mower and it’s back up and running.
Thanks again. I sent you a small token of appreciation.
I am glad to hear that I was able to help you fix it- Thank you for the token- I really appreciate it
Bro for years I get my lawn equipment service by someone else, now you explained it so good I want to do it myself
Just take your time and you will be just fine. Those repair companies will be doing the same thing, save yourself $$
You can do it!
We live in a small town in Washington State & this will save us a 90 mile drive both ways. Thank you! 😊
Glad I could help!
Thank You SO Much! This helped me fix my mower and right before the holiday coming up, my grass was going on about 2 feet high with all the rain we had here, so yeah, thank you very much.
Glad I could help!
So straightforward! What a great result too.
Just a light pull, starts right up and runs with strength. It never started this smoothly or ran this well when we got it new from Sears!!!
I am glad to hear that it worked for you.
Thank you Bother. You saved me a lot of time and money. I watched your video and then went step by step, pausing the video along the way. And after I finished my mower started on the first pull! Thank you Brother for sharing this valuable information. I appreciate you.
This makes me so happy to hear! Makes it all worth while to film them.
Got the mower running today after no luck all summer, took literally only half this video to get me moving again. Thank you.
Glad I could help
Amazing work, thank you! Followed step-by-step, got my mower back running for the season.
Glad it helped!
Great step by step guide. If people would take care of there lawn equipment they would not have problems.
Even with good maintenance things can still happen.
Yes thats true
Just fixed my lawn mower just by watching this video. It's running better than it ever has!!!
Glad to hear it!
Thank you for posting. I will give it a try. I assume this process can be used for my pressure washer too. Perfect instruction without any nonsense and to the point. You have earned another subscriber.
You are welcome! I hate videos that spend 5 minutes talking about the weather, their kids, or their dog. "Just show me how to fix this thing! " So I understand you 100%
You just saved me a lot of money. Follow your instructions and my lawnmower started like new. Very good video 👍👍👍
Glad I could help!
Outstanding, I currently am having the same problem, so I'll do as you did, thank you for sharing. 👍👍👍👍👍
I hope it works out well for you.
Nice video! I cleaned my carb last year which kept me going but I wasn't as in depth as you were here. So now that it's time again to think about mowing I'll be a bit more through this time around. The mower is old now but I'm sure I can get another season or two out of it!
Take care,
Rolland
i bet with a good carb cleaning you can get more than a few years of use.
Lifesaver! It was super easy to follow along. Thanks for mentioning all the bolt sizes.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for this video. You saved me a ton of money. My mower is now starting perfectly.
I am super glad to hear it!
Knowledge share is power. Thank you for sharing this very informative and effective way to resuscitate my 20 year old 3.75hp mower. I almost bought a battery powered unit but I thought I should check youtube first and see if there is a clear way to fix it. Your video did it. So well done and easy to follow. Many thanks.
I'm so glad I could help you save some money!
Nice video, watching you work, I had no doubt it would start right up.
This video is very heloful. My lawn mover stopped working after 9 years use. I followed this video to clean the carburetor, which fixed my mover and saved me hunderds of bucks.
I am glad that you were able to fix it-no need to waste money
5 minutes in one of my springs would have catapulted across the floor finding it’s way to the eternal Bermuda Triangle wormhole and vanish , joining the other nuts, bolts , washers n sockets I’ve mysteriously lost over the years I couldn’t find after literally keeping eyes on it as it bounced across the concrete 🤷🏼♂️
That does happen to the best of us.
Mine just launch into Low Earth Orbit.
I have that problem with 10 mm sockets. Always losing them.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@markvirts5883 lol. Everything uses them too!!! 🤔
You presented that so well. You're a natural at it, great video.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for this video! Worked to get our lawnmower going again after not using it for over a year.
Great to hear!
Done a bunch of those great video though I like the sound of the rain 🌧 always great to see your videos on Sunday morning!
Awesome! Thank you!
Followed your advice and steps to cleaning the carb, mower was really hard to start. Now it starts first pull, all for the cost of half a can of cleaner and no waiting for it to be repaired at the local dealer. Thanks a lot.
So glad to hear it worked and that it saved you time and money as well!
Eric that was very informative. You make it look so easy and smooth. I know that my husband get do this. He is very handy. Nice video and information. God Bless.
Thank you for this- I was trying to make it in a way that anyone could do the repair
Dude you rock saved me a lawn mower. Thanks if I ever see ya beers on me. Cheers.
Thanks for the offer- I am glad I could help you
Started right up! Thank you for posting this.
Can't imagine ["whud-up?!" ] if that mower didn't start at end of vid.
Actually hope is same prblm/solution with our current mower but its mid-season. Thanks ! good tutorial
Thanks for the vid. I abbreviated by pinching the gas line, removing the bowl, cleaning the jets and I'm back in the game, baby!
Glad to hear it!
This is my problem 95% of the time. Even with ethanol free fuel I still have to clean my carb a couple times a summer. Depending on your model/engine it might be really easy to access without taking any parts off. On my last 3 mowers and snowblower (Husqvarna, John Deere, Simplicity) the carb was right there on the side-- all I have to do is clamp the fuel line and and unscrew the carb bowl. Easy to do in less than 5 minutes. I also recommend adding a fuel line shut off for $1 and fuel filter.
good tips, even if the fuel is ethanol free- it still will contain a bit of ethanol - I add a fuel stabilizer to help with it.
Impressive friend. My older Craftsman ceased running optimally. This was after running each week since May. Ran it fully out of fuel on last mow. Now sputtering. Took off air cleaner and housing and sprayed into carb to try to clean it without taking it apart. Still, 1/2 run and stall. Bought a new/used Craftsman.
Eric, I had the same issue, I cleaned the carburetor and I also had an issue with my spark plug being fouled beyond wire brush and I replaced that, and gave it a new air filter and an oil change and its good to go to cut the areas where the riding mower can't.
Thanks for sharing!
Worked like charm! Thanks for making this video. It was really easy to follow along and the only thing I didn’t have on hand was the carb cleaner. Had to make a run to the store to get it but it was well worth the trip.
Glad it helped!
Eric. Thank you. I will be getting out my lawn equipment as soon as it gets warmer. We still have 30 degrees in the North East.
Hopefully you will get our 86 today
THANK YOU! This is my mower and I'll be cleaning the carburetor tomorrow! I'm sure this is what the issue is! 😊
Good luck!!
Thank you for sharing. I had no idea what to do and your video was absolutely perfect!
Glad it helped!
Just followed your video and fixed my mower. Many thanks!!
Glad I could help!
Thanks so much, Eric...I was trying today but was kind of afraid to try. Tomorrow I will fix mine myself! Thanks for your excellent video explanation!!
glad to see that it did work for you
I subscribed. May be the tutorial I've seen especially on this type of repair. Keep it up the world needs guys like you. Thanks, Eddy
May be the " best" tutorial I've seen on any repair. Thanks again
Thanks for the kind words! The cost of these mowers has gone up a lot since I made this video. I really hope it saves people a lot of money as the years go on.
Thanks mate, had the same problem and now it’s back running! Thanks heaps 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Glad it helped!
I really appreciate this video man! my mower has only been sitting a couple months so I figured it was either gas, which I changed out, sparkplug which I'm still gonna check or the carb. cheers!
Glad it helped!
I really enjoyed your video! You make it seem so easy. I hope I can get my Victa 2stroke mower to start!! You really know what you doing!! Thanks!!!
Glad I could help!
Will be doing this in the next day or so. Thanks for the clear and easy to follow video. My trusty 2008 Toro gave up late last year and after some basic steps (filter, spark, etc.) didn't work I figured I would be needing to deal with the carb next. Did the same on my edger a few years back but I am glad this carb has significantly fewer parts.
I hope you are able to get yours started. Just take your time, and you will do just fine
This video is awesome. I was able to follow the video I fixed my Craftsman 6.75. It was not starting. After I cleaned the carburator it started on the second pull. Thanks so much!!!
Glad it helped, I hate to hear that people spend money to have others do this simple (mostly) fix
Thank you so much for this video
I watched it twice to make sure I got it. I went outside and cleaned it up and that absolutely the issue it started up immediately after i cleaned it.
Comments like this is why I make these videos- I am glad that you were able to get yours fixed
Thqnks so much Eric. Worked like a charm. Started on first rry once cleaned. Thanks again!🙏✌👍
Great to hear!
Great job. Love the sound of the rain, you didnt need to talk on this video let the rain do the talking. FYI..my name is Eric also lol
17:10 don't know about you, I always have the hugest grin on hearing the sweet sound of an engine running on the first pull. Great video.
oh yes, me too!
Eric shows how to clean the carb and fix the mower! FYI; exact same repair for snowblowers for us northerners. Thanks Eric!!!
Anytime-
Excellent video! Lawnmower works great. Thank You
Glad I could help!
Great btw tip, to NOT clean out with a pin, but just allow the spray to do its work.
Great tip!
I got one for you
Spray will not work
You made this super easy to follow along. Appreciate you sir

Through trial and error I suspected and usually did this, usually in place.
But this makes it far more formalized and clears up many of the black art mysteries that build up as repair superstitions.
No mysteries here
Wotta fantastic job .. I'm having problems with mine! I'll be doing that tomorrow 😮😮.. definitely a double thumbs up for you 👍
thank you for that
thanks for the video!! it helped me fix my mower. now just got to find a bag or the frame for the bag..
Glad I could help! Hopefully you can find one at a decent price
Excellent video had the exact same problem Ill put the info I learned in this to use thank you mate!
I hope it works well for you
In the world is a good is pretty accurate. I'm in el salvador central America this video literally gave me a new mower thank you so much!
Muchas gracias por el video..
Glad I could help- thank you for the kind words
I've never watched, heard of or known this channel existed until literally 2 minutes ago... not sure if it's going to actually be beneficial to helping me fix the problem I'm currently having with my 2008 John Deere JS20 assisted-push mower or not... but regardless of this I immediately gave this video a "👍" within the first 8 sec of this video based off the intro music alone. 😂
Thank you sir!!
This is exactly what I need to do. Even same mower.. thanks buddy
You bet!
Awesome video! Thank you for taking time to showing us!
Anytime, thanks for watching
Your theme song is now stuck in my head! hahaha - I am also about to try out the deviled egg recipe posted a while back.
Life is good.
Hope you like it!
I can learn better if i see you working on my mower than i would know what im doing the next time.🤣😂🤣😂
Well.... I don't really make house calls, but I'll keep you in mind for next time!
Much appreciated- that was simple.
Great video. I must give mine a service soon . Thank you.
Any time-
