Making Homemade Butter (in the Ninja blender!)

  • A look at how we make butter in our Ninja blender.
    NOTE: The Ninja is a HIGH POWERED blender. Using a regular blender may run the risk of burning out your motor.
    Don’t make fun of my voice, I laid in bed making a voice over so you guys didn’t have to listen to 15 minutes of blender sounds 🤣

    Awesome! So much simpler than the way some other vids explain it.
    1. Blend whipping cream/heavy cream (35%+ in fat) until it separates into butter & buttermilk. Takes about 10 mins.
    2. Strain. Keep and store the buttermilk.
    3. Blend the butter solids in cold water
    4. Strain
    5. Squeeze butter to by hand to further strain.
    Done

    After pouring out the buttermilk initially, I would recommend 'squeezing' the butter between two silicon spatulas or wooden paddles to remove some more, and then pour at least several 'rinses' of cold clean water, squeezing the butter some more between these tools, and pouring out the buttermilk-laden water. Keep doing this until the water runs clear. because it is the buttermilk going off that makes your butter go bad.

      Absolutely Maurice, I am in my 70's and use my great grandmothers wood butter bowl and butter paddles. I rince at least 6 times and work the butter with the paddle.

    The motor underneath lets off a slight smell and it's a little loud ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCKuMxLnvr6fJd_M4SE-n7trcGj3zEUHq but considering it's size and how hard it works to do the job, it's sort of expected. I assume the smell will go away over time. Overall, I love this cute little blender. The extra cups and lids are great too!

    Take that cheesecloth and put the butter in it then dip it in ice water and give your butter a bath.Ring out and dip a few times, ringing it out each time. Then take the butter out of the cheese cloth and put it in the sandwich container.The smell is coming because the butter milk left in your butter is going bad.It will freeze for a long long time.

    I really enjoyed your video on how to make butter in the ninja blender. Your “at home” atmosphere is precious! I loved your son asking questions. The only thing that I would suggest to you, is to please put your hair back in a ponytail or braid. You kept pulling your hair back which is a no-no in food preparation. This is said in kindness. I’m looking forward to seeing your other videos. Blessings to you. Miz Jeanne

    I'm in my 70's and use a 150 year old wood butter bowl and spatula..So much better and easier than doing it with your hands.. I rinse the butter at least 6 times kneading and rolling with the wooden butter spoon. Then continue to knead until all the water is drained and then knead with the salt. It's how I shape my butter to fit my Victorian butter dish. Your doing the modern way but I think you would really enjoy sing a butter bowl and butter paddle. Nice video.

    To make traditional Irish soda bread, a few small bits of butter in the buttermilk would actually make the finished product even more delicious!
    Irish soda bread was invented as a way of using up buttermilk left over from making homemade butter, to make a quick bread that did not need yeast and rising time.

      My Irish mother used to make both soda bread and treacle bread. Her sister used to make her own butter using cream from her own cows (she had a farm) and send us a block over, years ago of course. It was the best butter ever. I need to try and make some myself. Sadly, I never learnt how to make treacle bread, watched my mother make it but didn't learn, just too engrossed in watching than learning.

    Thank you!! I had gotten a butter infuser earlier in the week and found out it don't make butter as I thought it did so back to Amazon it went! I watched your video a few days ago and immediately ordered a Ninja blender and got it today. I had been using a hand crank churner I got on Amazon that worked, but was getting to be a pain to use. The Ninja blender is freaking great! I used a full 2 quarts, but will limit myself to 48 ounces next time as the top part had to be redone. In all it worked out great. I had read through a few comments from others about rinsing it more often and I did rinse about a good six times. It firmed up better and the buttermilk was pretty much gone. I add my salt in before blending as I've found it mixes more evenly that way. I'm not a big salt fan and my wife can't have much due to health issues - 1 tablespoon per quart.

    If you have some slightly elderly cream you can use it for butter

    Hi , Thanks for sharing your recipe . Can we use cheese cloth to strain the butter milk ? Thanks

    • @beeathome
      @beeathome  2 роки тому

      That would work amazing if you wanted to leave it to drain. The butter may come through the cheesecloth if you squeeze it though. I just like to do less dishes so I squeeze it with my hands 🤪

    I am not doing it right do you use the same blade that came with the machine

    • @beeathome
      @beeathome  Рік тому

      Yes I use the same one that came with the machine. It does take a while and goes through thick liquid, to whipped cream, then all the way to when the liquid and butter separate.
