@Joseph Autumn because any idiot can say anything they want, however the difference is say having a scientific source that forces said idiot to have to work with other idiots to prove it and other idiots to look over what they studied and say “yeah that’s scientifically sound”, or for a news source where you can see how reliable some idiots are with telling the truth and which ones are idiots that will try and twist what some other idiot said to fit their narrative. And those groups of idiots that report the news can be graphed on a media bias chart where other idiots go through and find how reliable they are and what way their news leads allowing you to find good unbiased media vs Alex Jones telling you that the water makes frogs gay
@Joseph Autumn a non political way to look at this is casting information. Any idiot right now can say Charlie Hunam has been cast to play Oliver Queen in an upcoming Green Arrow movie for the DCEU, asking for a source can show if this idiot is quoting another idiot on a fan theory page, or if they’re quoting reputable idiots such as IMDb or Screenrant, or CBR who are all idiots that have proven to be reliable in saying what’s actually happening in superhero movies
She is totally reliant on a mish-mash of conservative talking points that she hasn't bothered to confirm or even think through, as if they were her own opinions. One thing that I never understand about this kind of philosophy is ... what might be considered "normal" evolves over time and is different in different societies. How do you understand that process if you equate normal = good? If you prefer the current society to the one 100 years ago, you can thank progressive movements for pushing for change. I never understood that logic when it comes to media consumption. Meh. Non-denominational Christianity is a thing. You have to ask questions to figure out what kind of beliefs the person has, or what kind of congregation they go to, if any. I think non-denominational Christianity is probably evangelical, but not necessarily. And I can think of one pretty liberal guy I bet who seemed to be part of a non-denominational church.
@@davidm1926 Yeah it gets squirrely. One philosopher who’s been extremely influential to me derived his theories from narratives, The Bible included. He eventually drew conclusions that led him to Christianity. Like Jesus walked the earth Christianity. He refers to his insights as revelations and conceptualizes them that way. He believes he did not come up with the ideas he puts forth. That they were there to be understood. When using his theories in conversation people will often say “that sounds like X or Y perspective” or “who’s theory is that” etc etc Now if I were to represent the thinker properly I would have to say Christian or Jesus, unlike others where you would say Marxist, Jungian etc etc. So am I a Christian in those moments? Am I one always?
I’m actually super impressed by how well Destiny was able to choose what topics to push back on and when to sacrifice correct arguments as a means of being more persuasive.
I feel like he kinda didn't give enough pushback though. There were a ton of points that could have been an easy dunk but he kinda brushed them aside. Like I think he should've leaned into the Hunter Biden thing more and pushed harder to see it. He could've easily debunked it but of course she won't send anything because she isn't confident
He couldve pushed more on journalism and her denying any news media would report on massive voter fraud. Its ridiculous to think all journalists somehow conspire together and not ONE would leak that and be for ever famous.
He conceded way too much, especially with Drag Queen Story Hour. It's not a difficult concept to defend. There is no problem normalizing drag queens and anyone who has a problem with it is just as bigoted as those who say gay people or trans people shouldn't read books to kids.

Hardly anyone who talks about this issue from "the right" has done and legitimate research, they base everything of how it makes them feel icky (as she put it in the video, "degenerate"). The amygdala has been trained to feel threatened by what the Bible tells them is wrong, or even infers is wrong... This is both supported by the state I live, and I have found that it has helped my depression immensely. The idea that the dsm5 classification invalidates trans identity and validates it all as a mental illness is an annoyingly shortsighted and close minded view. This is a very good example of controlling a discussion's tone to guide someone into less extreme lines of reasoning. That said it would take dozens of conversations spaced out with reflection on her part to actually reprogram some of the corrupt ways of thinking.
If you go into a debate attempting to "reprogram" someone, then you are definitely someone that is not acting in good faith. I would probably fall under someone who you think it is necessary to reprogram, therefore it is in my interest to make sure that people like you don't get into any sort of power.
@@Plainsburner The point of a debate is for multiple people to present two or more opposing sides of an argument with the goal that one or both parties can walk away with a more informed and reasoned understanding of the topic. If you agree to enter into a debate with no intention of persuading your opposition to adjust their own position, then what exactly are you there for? The only possibilities I can come up with are that you're either grifting for profit and don't actually care about the position that you claim to hold, or you are entering into the debate with no understanding of what a debate actually is. Neither of these seem to be motivated by an intent to argue in good faith; the first is blatantly antithetical to it and I'm having trouble not chalking the other up to attention seeking behavior.

This is, however, happening to trans people all over the country, and it is pushed (in a lot of cases) by the conservative Christians in the name of their beliefs. Which, as an ex Christian who was raised in the church, I recognize as delusions after years of study and deconstruction. Hardly anyone who talks about this issue from "the right" has done and legitimate research, they base everything of how it makes them feel icky (as she put it in the video, "degenerate"). The amygdala has been trained to feel threatened by what the Bible tells them is wrong, or even infers is wrong... Heck, even if the Bible doesn't mention it at all, they will find vague passages that fit there motive; like when they guilt youth about masturbation. Pushing this as an agenda they want supported by the government is sickening, and legitimately putting lives at risk for the sake of religious beliefs. From here, the more violently and loudly they spread their misinformation and dogma, the more and more it will look like (and often BE) hate speech.

This is both supported by the state I live, and I have found that it has helped my depression immensely. The idea that the dsm5 classification invalidates trans identity and validates it all as a mental illness is an annoyingly shortsighted and close minded view. We used to identify homosexuality as a mental illness. We later discovered that when you don't shame people into hating who they are, they are able to live happy and healthy lives. Of course if you are religious, you have to stick to your belief that people who live contrary to your religion's texts are fundamentally flawed, broken, or mentally ill. This is a very slippery slope into bigotry that ignores the evidence for the sake of upholding religious dogma.
