This is perfect. Just hilarious! 🤣
💯
I laughed way too hard at this LOL
Here you dropped this : 👑
Bird noises. The pinnacle of guitar playing. 🎸
lolol
lol hahajshdjahsf
😆😆😆😆
"La guitarra, antes de ser instrumento, fue árbol, y en él cantaban los pájaros. La madera sabía de música mucho antes de ser guitarra" (Atahualpa Yupanqui).
More like two birds having a casual conversation
Guthrie doesn't need approval from Vai. He's in his own league. Just shootin' it straight.
Both are incomparable, they are really good. Steve is a really good composer, Guthrie is a king of improvisation.
You forget one part... "... and a REALLY good composer" 😂
@@tiago2336 don't know as a composer but yes as a performer.. and he is already the member of a great composer Hans Zimmer and worked with Steven Wilson hehe
@@sylvesterwarbringer8397 and? He's still a composer of his own lol
@@tiago2336 GG writes bloody good songs too (same for MM and BB too, long live the aristocrats). always devastating that instrumental music gets no air time because it has no lyrics that uninitiated punters can karaoke along to... aka steve wilson (who is brilliant too, don't get me wrong).
agreed. guthrie is by far the better improviser (better than most/many jazz-centric players). for decades via was my favorite guitarist... until i heard guthrie. i think steve probably has a wider range of compositional scope and influences which makes for slightly less accessible songs... heading toward experimental (not all of them obviously, but you don't hear GG referencing and delving into 'traditional hungarian wedding songs'). probably a similar comparison to be made between via and satriani. whereas guthrie is far more blues/rock/jazz rooted which makes it more 'in' and ear friendly. the musical landscape would be a lesser place without either of them.
Vai was like “this guy has the answer for everything!”
Gandalf is all like “You shall not pass!!!” To Steve during that stare down.
lol😂😂😂
Except the fact he has not a single song, while Vai has at least 30 mega hits
Thats what people dont realize, shredding one billion scales is cosmic, but composing songs that touch and atract people around the world is divine. @@lobotomyfreaks
@@lobotomyfreaks My brother in Christ, hast thou not listened to the album, Erotic Eakes?
It’s great and all but if Guthrie looked at me with those facial expressions on stage I’d just burst out laughing 😂
Funny funny
He really does have the best expressions lol
He has Tourette’s. Normally they would be called tics not expressions, but it’s very interesting that they seem to lineup with music more clearly than with speech. I’m sure there’s a researcher somewhere that would want to investigate why the lines blur
Vai is a monster, but Guthrie Govan is the king. No one knows more about music theory, styles, improvisation, etc., and can technically and proficiently translate that to guitar better than him. Even his name has letters that can be arranged into the word guitar.
The last sentence broke my mind
Guither 😂
Seriously though and jokes aside i named my son Guthrie after him. 😊
Govan is a master no doubt about that; there are others perhaps on another level above, if you can believe it
Sylvain Luc, Bireli Lagrene are french guitarists renowned for astounding technique and musical vocabulary
yeah you bet! he is like neo from matrix.
@@brownholecharles You can prefer Sylvain Luc's music, but he's absolutely not a level above Guthrie in terms of technique - there is nothing Luc can do on the guitar that Guthrie can't do faster, and there are many things Guthrie does that Luc hasn't demonstrated the ability to do. And what do you mean by 'musical vocabulary'? Do you actually believe there's some form of chord, scale or melody that Luc is capable of playing that GG isn't?
Love me some Vai, but if you're improvising with Govan, then you're about to learn something. #GuthrieSlays
Learn something new everyday! #GuthrieSlays
Patiently waiting for Govan to come out with an new instrumental album
My theory is that Guthrie is just unable to stop playing. Like, his lines are so beautiful that he cannot tear himself away from the lines to record any of them. If I played like him, I'd forget to eat meals.
Too busy playing with Hans Zimmer I'd imagine
Word
two masters speaking to one another
i’m an yngwie and vai fanboy but govan is a whole level of awesome
not a game changer but quite possibly the best player out there
Exactly how I’d put it. Guthrie didn’t change the game, but if he isn’t the best player of it out there I don’t know who is
After thinking about the term ''game changer'' I came to the conclusion that there will never be any game changing guitarists in the future! Everything possible has been already created. Van Halen, Hendrix and many others changed the game in their own way, coming up with a new styles that became milestones in the time frame of music history. But it's evident that ingenious and brilliant sound combinations and revolutionary styles can't be infinite, and most of them have been created , the game has been changed. I mean, despite the democratisation of musical creation, with billions of low-cost, hi-quality, mass propagated home produced music... since a few decades, we didn't see many ''Sgt Peppers'' or ''Dark Side Of The Moon'' albums come by very often, did we?
Anyways, Guthrie seems to be, in 2023, the greatest one on top of the pyramid.
While he may not be a game changer, by having such an insane talent and deversified skills, he still might actually be the greatest guitarist of all time!
I truly believe that any of those great guitarists from the present or the past would all be impressed as hell while having the privilege to witness this incredible guitar wizard. At least I am!
@@akimbogoats6301his book creative guitar 1/2 changed my life. It’s the key that made me a much better player than I was 3 years ago.
@@johnnywinter8892Polyphia's crunchy guitars over beats is very distinctive, and Tosin Abasi is just... weird.
The "guitar game" is probably too big now for one paper to change the entire game.
@@EddyFavereywell said. I’m sure after Hendrix people thought there won’t be anyone else because they thought everything had already been done. Then along comes Van Halen. Eddie couldn’t read music and he said if he had been able to he probably would’ve never came up with all the unique stuff he did. He also said that’s why its called music theory and not music fact. Who knows when but the next game changer will come along one day…hopefully.
Two masters having fun
Creepy stare off by the guth
I would love to get stared off by guthrie.
@@krasalierproductions You spelled "Jerked" wrong!
This is him just legit learning that in real time, that's awesome
Alien communication
The language of love and admiration
many guitarists are better than Steve Vai but no one can compose music like Steve Vai, his compositions are sophisticated yet accessible and he doesn't rely on muscle memory to write songs he can actually compose songs in his head, which I think is his greatest strength as a composer
Many?
Zappa
Yeah...his music is much better than Guthries....
Guthrie can play anything and knows all about guitar...
But vai songs are so great, thats all i care...
Guthrie's been the most versatile and complete guitar player right now for the past 15 years. No wonder Stevie puts those faces
Two legends
My man just walked away…😂
Guthrie Govan is the Daniel Day-Lewis of guitarists. There is no comparison (if you don't count Tommy Emmanuel)...
The one who was amazing for using bottleneck or objects to sound strings above the pickups was JEFF BECK God bless him.
I said 15/20 years ago when I first heard Guthrie Govan play when he worked for the magazine “Guitar Techniques” and I said he would one day be recognised as the phenomenon that he is. I’ll never forget this, I emailed Matthias IA Eklundh about him and he at the time said he never heard of him! The rest is history 🎸
Guthrie’s visual eccentricity is gold.
Here in the wild we can see the mating rituals of the guitar virtuosos
Bro harmonised his scratches 😂
Impressed by little noises anyone could do with a pick scraping/pressing the strings? I think he was just more entertained than "impressed" lol
Steve ... Just Perfect.
Guthrie is the King of improvisation!
Stevie Ray Vaughn??
@@SeptemberChild1835 He is amazing too, but Guthrie is another level!
..." po pi po pi po pi po pi"...
The Scary Movie 2 Basketball Scene comes to mind 😂🙌
When mr Govan started to appear he came with the wealth of musical ability and knowledge, and then due to being such a musician what he bears around him and just played the sounds. So he can easily equal any one there is.
A true genius , and as he was influenced …others will be influenced by him, then we will get more like that, not only monster players but the musical ability to match.
Also, I ran in to him in a big music shop one time in birmingham I think I had no idea who he was.., he was rolling up a cigarette by the counter, had a little chat and he’s a bang up bloke .
Yes Steve, i know its diffecult, but he kicks your ass.....
Please be nice to stevie, he has a fragile ego.
@@krasalierproductions 🤣
G Man can answers anything
Woah, an astonishing performance. I think that i m in charge with them drying my plates and my glasses.

Alien speaking to each other !
I was there 2014 Saratoga Springs
guthrie is THE GOAT
Nobody is better then Guthrie!!!!!
Both are freaking freaks of nature!!🎸😂🎸
Man, if Zappa had had Guthrie in his tool box…
Imagine some of 2 random non famous guitarist doing this in front of crowd 😢😂
they'd get pelted with tomatoes for being wanker jagoffs.
hahaha this was the last thing I expected after reading the title of this video. Two guitar legends taking a break from music to make bird noises and funny faces at each other.
Guthrie is the greatest ever and I don't say that flippantly
Hendrix?
@@SeptemberChild1835 Hendrix was one of the most influential guitarists ever, but in terms of pure ability and virtuosity Guthrie could play circles around Hendrix
Guthrie Govan, the true master!
POV you’re in any Frank Zappa solo section ever
Tom Morello be like: can i join you guys?
Daria mi vida por verlo tocar juntos con Jason Becker y richie kotzen 😢
Serian la trinidad perfecta
🙌😎
Guthrie can do anything. It's ridiculous.
Steve played with Zappa he'll eat that right up
The birds starts chirping at me after I played this
Well, guthrie was in ASIA... Awesome musicianship of.this guy!!
where is the music ...?
The only thing I like about Steve vai is his signature guitar, fine instrument that is 🤌
I'm here for the Music Is A Competition crowd comments.
Comme tous les Géants, ce sont d'incroyables expérimentateurs.
Claramente Vai es un aficionado al lado del Govan
Looks like Guthrie knows how to make it sound like Tom Morello.
good time for a bathroom break if you were at the show
Están como lokitaass
Guffrie is the real deal
Can someone help me out, I'm looking for a YT guitar channel I used to listen to but forgot the guys name and can't find him now, he's in the UK and he kind of resembles Guthrie Govan, he has long stringy hair and he usually favors a Les Paul and plays it in his bedroom, he has a big Orange amp behind him.
Huseinnn
so im sitting here practicing my ass off on guitar when in reality the peak guitar playing is obviously something i was able to do the whole time.
Because weird noise is also coming out of my amp 😊
Guthrie is ze best.
I just hope Guthrie takes care of his health...
This is how these 2 aliens communicate.....
I can so that when i rub balloons 🎉
Guthrie Govan is the real Karate kid 😅
Like a couple of giant lean furbies shooting the breeze
Is this how guitarists talk to one another now? Lol
The more I listen to Govan the more I think he's extremely close to the genius level of electric guitar Mount Rushmore, Holdsworth Hendrix Beck and Shawn Lane..id put Guthrie on a par just below with Metheny McLaughlin SRV as mount Rushmore B team
of all of the things to be impressed by lol
These 2 are the droids we’re looking for.
Not sure why but Vai always had a jealous vibe with Guthrie
First Daniel LaRusso and now Guthrie!
this is hilarious they sound like birds talking haha
Nothing to chirp at for sure
I love Mr Vai....my fav player...but Guthrie is on another level.
Not a player on this planet that comes near to him.
Allan Holdsworth? Ask Via or Guthrie.
You're clearly not familiar with Matteo Mancuso.

Okay, so if you want to impress Steve Vai just do some unusual shit with the guitar
Who isn't?

Guthrie should get back to Guitar Techniques and transcribe Substitute by The Who.

2014 - Vai's first ever camp - in upstate NY - I know cuz I was there ;) dream come true - the last night it was Vai, Govan, Vernon Reid and Jeff "Skunk" Baxter in an amazing jam - made friends there that I am still in touch with today!

The eyebrows movement is highly necessary for that technique /,,/
So he should be
He should be.
Yet to hear an album comparable to passion and warfare and until Guthrie Govan does that he’s still not on the same level as Vai. However I think Lukather is No.1 above anyone else, his knowledge and achievements dwarf what both Vai and Govan have achieved
Guthrie isn't tryna reinvent the instrument. He's about having fun. And in terms of pure chops, he's the best. In the world.
Steve went to the Vai academy to get a lesson from Guthrie.
can someone explain what's going on here
all i see is two guitarists making weird noises
Vai isn't impressed here by Guthrie's simple pick scrapes on the first three strings, but a cool moment captured nonetheless.
Ok I'll maybe change the title to "Steve vai is NOT impressed by guthrie govan", but that won't get a lot of clicks.
@@krasalierproductions it's all about the clicks!
"simple pick scrapes"
ROFL
Go back to bed, you're tired.
@@Kyrelelthat's what he's doing. He's scraping the edge of his pick on the G, B, and high E strings to make those noises. Are you seeing something different? Govan is a monster player, but not doing anything spectacular in this clip.
Should be called Guthrie does some crappy pick scrapes looking like an autistic caveman and Steve vai isn't impressed.
