After watching the last shop vids I have come to accept that Cris is The Master of the Smoke Wrench and BFH ! Nice to see a real truck mechanic instead of all the chrome bolting video stars on You Tube 😊
Bulting new parts and chrome is easy and doesn't require much knowledge.A good mechanic will see if it is possible to renovate or if the parts should be replaced.Chris has extensive experience in both repairing and driving trucks.
Elaine is almost ready for the road. I think between yourself and Chris the ol’ girl will be back to rollin’ the open road where she was meant to be!!! She is looking and sounding great!!!
Well I'm happy to see her going under her own power. Get all the other stuff taken care of and she could be a really good star on your channel. Good luck with her.
Put dual straight stacks on her & she will be sounding like Orwell. She's going to sound great & when you get ready to start preparing for the paint job, she's going to look great also & if you're going to put new wheels & tires on her after the paint job is finished then she will look great, can't wait until you get her ready for prepping for the paint job & Chris is one hell of a mechanic he knows his stuff glad you got him
Great video Steve and Chris glad to see the clutch and flywheel reassembled in Elaine. Nice that Elaine can move under it own power. Thanks for sharing stay safe Steve and Chris.
Love this video reminds me of mine i own a 2001 FLD 120 with a N14 engine in it i bought it 2 years ago and slowly i rebuilt it and this August i was finally able to put it on the road i just run Texas for now because it still needs a paint job and some other minor things but im proud of myself because its my first truck im happy with it and i rebuilt it from the ground up i mean a full out of frame overhaul new clutch new shocks new brakes right now it still looks like a junker but im already sanding it down and getting it ready for paint and i bought a new hood for it because the old one is crap and yeah love your videos and i love you and Chris's dynamic and Orwell is awesome too
That old Freightliner has some good lines on her. She's a good looking old truck. Chris aka the Miracle Mechanic will get her sorted out soon enough. I'm very interested in how you fit her out from here on. I think you said you were going to change the sleeper/back section for open trailer towing. I think she'll make a good worker/hauler. Thanks for all the updates. Fluid Film seems to hold up on all my old stuff, but I don't know whether you would want to sort of greasiness of the lanolin. But that is what makes it work.
I too think stack's also Great job, and she will be perfect soon. Great job on videos also. 🎉 Thanks sharing. Miss driving coast to Coast. Too old. My son drives heavy loads etc. he loves it. Thank goodness.
Hey stave how are you doing today on this beautiful day and I like the content in the videos and I like watching your UA-cam videos and hi Chris you are doing a great job and keep up the good work and I happy that you are helping stave out
The way Elaine's turbo sings is great and she absolutely sounds great now that she is not getting choked by that crap that caught fire. If you haven't talked to Bruce Wilson since MATS 2024, he recently bought some Class A Trucks for the FCR Salvage company. The only reason I brought this up when you first introduced Elaine to your UA-cam channel and am bringing it up again is the fact that one of the trucks that he bought a Conventional Freightliner that looks like Elaine. I think the man, who Bruce bought the trucks from, said the Freightliner Conventional truck is the same model year 1991, and I think he said the model name is the same as Elaine. Who knows, he might have things that Elaine needs to bring her back to life.
FYI. I used to drive a truck with a blower on in the Army. I was told to let the truck ideal down for 5 minutes before shutting it off so the blower rpm's would slow enough so it wouldn't hurt the blower when the engine stopped pumping oil to it.
Steve ,buy some Fluid Film. It's an aerosol that it is a very weather resistant lubricant. I've used it for two years now. It's a little pricey but well worth it.
If that lubricant you bought for the chain tensioners doesn’t work out I would give Ballistol a try. Thanks for all the content- this is one of my newly found favorite channels.
That would be the new style clutch fellas.. I install these on a daily basis. I put on input shaft, spin motor by hand to bolt up, Eaton says it can be done this way.. I’m also an Eaton certified technician..
Can’t wait to hear what color you guys are going with and I’m hoping you are able to get that done before putting the new stacks on her??? It really does sound strong and tough and the turbo whistle is music to my ears!!! Chris is definitely the man for getting the job done too!!! It’s also great to see some present day content and I’m hoping we can get the older stuff seen and your able to stay on point with the present day content but I get it is tuff for that to happen but I can wish I hope 🤞!!!! See you in the next one Steve!!!
I use the LPS-2 heavy duty lubricant on my ratchet binders, it’s great stuff and lasts a long time and I thread the binders all the way in when not in use so the lubricant doesn’t dry up.
Now there is something I've learned with the chain binders is u don't bust ur knuckles against the deck of the trailer when ur tightening the chains down
Two of the best things about a old big cam Cummings are the Jake's ( bang like a MF ) and the sound of their turbo whistle out of straight pipe/pipes .Had a 85 Pete w/ BC and 6" straights and a Holset 60 - you could hear / find that truck idling in a south Louisiana fog at night .
You should talk to your local fire dept and see when they dispose of old fire hose. 2 1/2 or 3 inch hose will make great rub protection for your chains.
Yelp that's what I use shop foreman is the chief at one of the local volunteer fire stations so he brings in the old out of service date hoses and we cut them to size
What is the deal with the sound, the mic or something sounds messed up, Chris is a smart dude, they don't make them like him no more, people are just freaking lazy anymore, he's a hard ass worker, thanks for sharing Steve
Iv seen people use the trans to align the clutch and it work fine but iv also had to replace a few clutches premature because the previous tech did not get it tightened down even to each there own i use the flywheel jack to get the clutch in
Its interesting to see different methods of doing the same job. I've never had a problem doing clutches this way. You just have to find whichever method works for you
You should try dry graphite lubricant on the chain binders, it comes in an aerosol can and it goes on it's like dark gray spray paint. It will not wash off and it won't collect dirt like oil based lubricantls.
Now to deal with the multitude of petty hassles to get Elaine reliable and suitably fitted out for your line of work, not forgetting the wood for the trailer deck. Not talking about bling, just practical stuff like good hoses throughout, and competent electrical connections, that sort of thing.
ℹ used Dry Silicone with Teflon it doesn’t pickup dust as it’s dry and keeps the rust down. They will not look like they have anything but, but give it a try.

Or the plug and play mechanic
Get er done 🇺🇸💯💪✅️
@@idasedin4626 Amen and 2nd that.
Elaine is almost ready for the road. I think between yourself and Chris the ol’ girl will be back to rollin’ the open road where she was meant to be!!! She is looking and sounding great!!!
The Freightliner does sound pretty good
Good job Chris on getting it up there and there’s always the guy giving advice after the fact. 😂
Well I'm happy to see her going under her own power. Get all the other stuff taken care of and she could be a really good star on your channel. Good luck with her.
boy chris knows his stuff on trucks, your lucky to have him
Put dual straight stacks on her & she will be sounding like Orwell. She's going to sound great & when you get ready to start preparing for the paint job, she's going to look great also & if you're going to put new wheels & tires on her after the paint job is finished then she will look great, can't wait until you get her ready for prepping for the paint job & Chris is one hell of a mechanic he knows his stuff glad you got him
There's a different sound from a 855 cummins vs a b model cat. There is and some people notice
Should move the pipes forward and paint her like the porkchop express 😅
it took almost three years for Orwell to get new shoes😂
Good evening Steve & Chris, Great job on fixing both trucks
Hi,
Just wanted to give a shout out to you from
fond Du Lac , Wisconsin.
Love your channel and videos.
Please Be Safe,
Cassie😀
No bullshit channel, straight into the action!!
Great video Steve and Chris glad to see the clutch and flywheel reassembled in Elaine. Nice that Elaine can move under it own power. Thanks for sharing stay safe Steve and Chris.
That turbo sure has a great whine,🤣🤣🤩👍👍
Chris is the best thing that's happened to your channel. But if that lube doesn't last. Try Red n Redi by LPS from Grainger. Good stuff.
I'm glad Orwell back up and rolling😁he is the star of the show love ur content can't wait for Elaine Rollin 😁
I love the sound of Elaine. The turbo whine is awesome
N14 always had such a distinct sound. I love it. Great engine too. Good fuel mileage
Love this video reminds me of mine i own a 2001 FLD 120 with a N14 engine in it i bought it 2 years ago and slowly i rebuilt it and this August i was finally able to put it on the road i just run Texas for now because it still needs a paint job and some other minor things but im proud of myself because its my first truck im happy with it and i rebuilt it from the ground up i mean a full out of frame overhaul new clutch new shocks new brakes right now it still looks like a junker but im already sanding it down and getting it ready for paint and i bought a new hood for it because the old one is crap and yeah love your videos and i love you and Chris's dynamic and Orwell is awesome too
Huge accomplishment!
Be proud of it!!
Looking good can't wait to see it finish 😀
The beginning of the video sounds like we were watching FSC on a old black and white tv
The fleet is growing. Congratulations.
Chris is THE MAN...😂
Really enjoyed the episode. Elaine is going to be fantastic when fixed. Mick T London
That old Freightliner has some good lines on her. She's a good looking old truck. Chris aka the Miracle Mechanic will get her sorted out soon enough. I too think stack's also
Great job, and she will be perfect soon. Great job on videos also.
🎉 Thanks sharing. Miss driving coast to Coast. Too old. My son drives heavy loads etc. he loves it. Thank goodness.
Elaine has a headlight out. Sounds good looks good.
Hi Steve, you and Chris have been making some great footage!!!!
Chris has added to the shop content 100 fold. Thank you!
Hey stave how are you doing today on this beautiful day and I like the content in the videos and I like watching your UA-cam videos and hi Chris you are doing a great job and keep up the good work and I happy that you are helping stave out
Another great segment Steve
Great job Cris
Sounds good. Straight pipe it!
Elaine moves and without having to give her a lot of throttle. Nice!
The way Elaine's turbo sings is great and she absolutely sounds great now that she is not getting choked by that crap that caught fire. Yeah sounding wicked cool. Great Job
Great video keep them coming
Chris is a tuff guy. Man my old man did that stuff all the time when I was younger.
After Elaine and Orwell are fixed Chris can get a part time job with Blue Man Group. Love the videos, KEEP ON TRUCKING.
Elaine sounds like she has a pretty healthy engine. Injectors are sounding really good too.
Its ok Steve, I can still here both of ya'll
Pretty soon you ought to fix Chris's so called "Anti-Theft" system too.😅
FYI. I used to drive a truck with a blower on in the Army. I was told to let the truck ideal down for 5 minutes before shutting it off so the blower rpm's would slow enough so it wouldn't hurt the blower when the engine stopped pumping oil to it.
The blower stops when the engine stops it's a turbo that has to spin down after the engine stops
You need a green epu just like Orwell
Yes sir let it idle
Damn Steve Orwell's hook up to the RGN looked like a rough ride but it also looks pretty damn cool 🫨💪💪
Ya, you're right it does sound awesome. Lot of potential.
Steve ,buy some Fluid Film. It's an aerosol that it is a very weather resistant lubricant. I've used it for two years now. It's a little pricey but well worth it.
Diesel Fuel mix with old engine oil in a spray bottle works good on the binders.
TGP
sounds good! You gotta start somewhere brother.
At the first couple of minutes you 2 guys sounded like astronauts. only the *beep* sounds are missing. :D
Elaine looks ideal for the stepdeck so maybe some paint matching and keep it classy
Hard working men under the truck !!! LOL🥸by the way that tying down is quite an art ? LOL🥸
Yes Sir!!!!, I always do hit the like & subscribe button
If that lubricant you bought for the chain tensioners doesn’t work out I would give Ballistol a try. Thanks for all the content- this is one of my newly found favorite channels.
This is a frank lyner's very good one. This freight line as a good 12 go with or will I said good backup truck
I agree Steve, Elaine does sound better with our that muffler. Phase one of Elaine is complete. She moves. Big win
I've been having a real good luck with WD-40 foaming gel
Good evening Steve and Cris
Chris be careful
The left front blinker levels low🤔 turbo sound sweet👌
That would be the new style clutch fellas.. I install these on a daily basis. I put on input shaft, spin motor by hand to bolt up, Eaton says it can be done this way.. I’m also an Eaton certified technician..
I've done more clutches than I can count! Thanks
Merhaba çok güzel bir video olmuş 😍
Sana sahip olduğum için mutluyum! İzlerken keyif alın.
Glad to have you! Enjoy your time watching.
Steve's video technology and Chris' knowledge of trucks is a winning concept ❤❤❤
I love the sound of Elaine
Well done ! 🚛
25,30 mins the press ugh i bet it was a beast
Atleast, everybody will know how to put a clutch back in a truck
Can’t wait to hear what color you guys are going with and I’m hoping you are able to get that done before putting the new stacks on her??? It really does sound strong and tough and the turbo whistle is music to my ears!!! Chris is definitely the man for getting the job done too!!! Hey Steve I like the sound of that turbo maybe Jen will go on a run with you in Elaine.
Good man...loved the video chap..Excellent
Super les vidéos, j adore 🤘👌👍
A great truck
Careful Steve, that cardboard is heavy. 🤣
One more thing off the list. On to the next.
Now there is something I've learned with the chain binders is u don't bust ur knuckles against the deck of the trailer when ur tightening the chains down
best thing ive used for binders has been fluid film
After the fire seeing back to normal hopefully Elaine comes together
Good content. 👍
Yeah Steve I like the way that exhaust sounds, you outta keep that on there (old or new as you go upgrading it)
Get some arch oil fuel additives for both trucks
In Alaska we used motor oil and WD-40 mixture in a spray bottle for our binders.
Fluid film or chain lube is what I always use and it stays a while
You should talk to your local fire dept and see when they dispose of old fire hose. 2 1/2 or 3 inch hose will make great rub protection for your chains.
I use old cut up trailer straps after they break for corner protection.
Yelp that's what I use shop foreman is the chief at one of the local volunteer fire stations so he brings in the old out of service date hoses and we cut them to size
I always used WD-40 bck when, covered chains too.
Making Orwell Great Again!
BC Cummins and a holset turbski 👌🏻🔥👌🏻🔥👌🏻🔥
I think that be a great truck
What is the deal with the sound, the mic or something sounds messed up, Chris is a smart dude, they don't make them like him no more, people are just freaking lazy anymore, he's a hard ass worker, thanks for sharing Steve
The mic acted up that day.
I'd love to see a long video on just working on that truck... brakes... chasing the various issues... like a hour or two long video...
Good evening yall
Iv seen people use the trans to align the clutch and it work fine but iv also had to replace a few clutches premature because the previous tech did not get it tightened down even to each there own i use the flywheel jack to get the clutch in
Its interesting to see different methods of doing the same job. I've never had a problem doing clutches this way. You just have to find whichever method works for you
On “E”Laine, just run side pipes? Save some MPG?? Stay Safe!!
Nope. Need exhaust up in the air if in deep snow. If stacks effect the ability to make a profit, you're pulling for too cheap.
Anyone else think he should move the pipes forward, the tanks back and paint it like the porkchop express?
Once you get the mechanicals working, how long til you get the rust off the driver steer hub? lol
Good ole Cummins
You should try dry graphite lubricant on the chain binders, it comes in an aerosol can and it goes on it's like dark gray spray paint. It will not wash off and it won't collect dirt like oil based lubricantls.
It should clear up when the engine gets warm we run a lot of the 855 Cummins they all smoke till warm
Now to deal with the multitude of petty hassles to get Elaine reliable and suitably fitted out for your line of work, not forgetting the wood for the trailer deck. Not talking about bling, just practical stuff like good hoses throughout, and competent electrical connections, that sort of thing.
will let chris do a vid on your press it must be from the 40,s or 50,s i need to build that press
Make a video of the inside of the FLD or have y’all already have?
ℹ used Dry Silicone with Teflon it doesn’t pickup dust as it’s dry and keeps the rust down. They will not look like they have anything but, but give it a try.
The sound of the turbo...Uff memories of Vietnam come to mind and the unforgettable REO M35
The mechanical duo has done it! 💪Steve and Chris
