pre-purchase inspection? WOO we got a smart one.
As a mechanic I would refuse to work on such dirty cars
As a tech who needs money, I'd up charge =b worst case they say no.
I hate working on work vehicles.
@@madisonmecham9546 Some of the worst inside(!) and out. Rolling spittoons many of them, with dried ketchup and cola on everything or gumming up lap/shoulder belt buckles. Then when they decline repairs you don't want your name on a work order. BTDT many times.
In italy we have “revisione” once every two years mandatory inspection of the vehicle, i dobt understand why in a bigger country like the us there is none in some places
Some states do have inspections but many don't, like here in MI. Too many rust buckets here. (sub-frames, suspension arms/links, floors, etc) It's mostly from the state using CaCl on dirt roads to keep dust down, 10x more corrosive than Winter road salt. (prove me wrong)
@@johncmitchell4941 I'm also here in MI. Years ago we had mandatory exhaust testing. It tuned into a big scam. Shops doing the testing could manipulate the testing equipment to get any results they needed to pass any car.
About CaCI , Just ask Erik O.
All I'll say is, a car in the shop is one less car a customer fixed themselves.
And that's usually a win.
10:59. The tilt columns on that period of Chevy trucks were terrible about getting so loose that they barely seem connected to anything. You often could even make the gear selector move position just by jiggling the wheel in just the right way. Every single one of them I've ever seen had this problem.
"Now I may not be a smart man, but I know when somethings f**ked up and everything I've seen in the last 20 odd minutes is f**ked up" .
That Jeep Cherokee at 2:20 is mint condition, $250 in replacement floor pans, and $200 in replacement carpet and you're solid 🤣
Yes! Love these longer videos! Thank you for the great entertainment!
I like how the "washer fluid" they put in the motor oil is just water. I also like they said they replaced the air filter, but they just keep adding that fluffy air filter element from a house air filter. Like they are unaware there are specific products for their car, or are just super broke.
In terms of rust, why don’t automakers apply rust resistant coatings to their vehicle parts and undercarriage? And issue a guide to have rust proof coatings reapplied to the undercarriage at certain age of the vehicle as a form of necessary maintenance? I think you can get that done in body shops. I think this should become a law in Rust Belt States if it isn’t already. Cars would last longer that way. But this is just my opinion, people can do whatever they want.
Because then you wouldn't have to buy a new car? Why don't they use sand on the roads in New England instead of salt? Because some senator probably owns a repair shop. It's called end stage capitalism where literally everything is a scam and nobody gives a crap about anybody else.
It's not and would go into all the other things that happen aftermarket. Once that warranty is up it's on you, everything is your responsibility. I personally have never seen a car rust before the warranty. Chevy does on their trucks and SUVs which makes them dangerous to lift on flat pads so...
The states get more taxes from selling vehicles
That’s the thing; they WANT you to keep having to buy new cars. If a car lasted too long, they won’t make any money out if it.
It's amazing how owners forget, or don't bother, to change their cabin air filters, as it could affect the performance of the blower motor.
Its the first sign the whole vehicle isnt maintained. The vehicle came with a manual and service record that specifies replacements and checks for all elements of the car. Skip one you prob skipped them all
uh, you DO know that most people don't even know they EXIST, I hope? they're so well hidden, people don't know they're there.
@@paulgerrard9227 manuals are one of the "five things people throw away™"...and I've never seen a mention in any of the post 2000 vehicles I've owned except my current one, where it was listed as an option.
Worse than that you have no clue what could be growing on that filter especially if you have fog often you most likely have mold
Some 10th gen f150s don’t even have one installed from factory. Potentially 23+ years with no filter at all 😂
I thought the dodge was full of rodent bones for a second there. 😂
Don't people realize when you buy a car that regular maintenance is a given. Not when you feel like it. No wonder there are cars like these.
=[ they dont... it's amazing to me.
My gf and her son, expect the local garage to manage their vehicles maintenance schedule?? So when her transmission went from lack of service she was furious with her mechanic and not herself?
You buy a product, you are responsible for knowing needed maintenance no?
Obligatory yearly MOT inspection? No, because "freedom"...
No, they dont.. and as we in europe got the "auto" mode on the lights. Everybody suddently forgot how it is to move their index finger 2 f... CM to blend down highbeems, but did not forget to dazzleup the dashboards and blind the lightsensors 😂 it has become a socially accepted mental illness...
@@oddzi Auto lights never put the high beam on.
@@S.1-1-1-1-1 Around here high beams and fog lights all the time is why I hate to drive at night. Noodnicks don't care if you can see as long as they can. Often when someone is on my bumper I have to dodge my rear-view and side mirrors, and that's with various 'yellow vision' eyewear whether I drive day or night.
50 percent "cheapskate", 50 percent Red Solo Cup mentality (everything's disposable), 100 percent "who cares, it's just a car"
In Vancouver B.C. we used to have mandatory vehicle safety checks. You got a sticker if your car passed. It was hard to sell a used car unless you had the sticker.
The government of the Day in the 80s cut the program, big mistake.
A car that wasn't road worthy would soon be repaired or junked.
That's how it works here in Japan. The inspection is biennial. However, scrapping is free and the inspection includes Road Traffic Act insurance.
Jack, the Japan Alps Brit
@JackBlack-ii1ip How are the driving exams? I've heard that Japanese road tests are very, very strict. And hardly anyone passes on the first try.
Oh the sound that rusted out sub-frame made when he flipped it over. Just from the sound alone you could tell it's made of Swiss cheese.
I took drivers Ed at 14, 1st thing your told is to check your tires before you get in the car
I usually don't comment on these... BUT Holy Mother Jeesus some of these were horrendus... they all were bad to worst.... Just how people don't take care of their cars?
On that last one, there is a chance - however small - that the customer actually wasn't doing anything beyond normal driving. Things can fail catastrophically just from defects in the castings.
Look at how someone takes care of their car, that is who they are in life.
u know if the government was better then the people would have a better choice in parts for car or PUTTING FOOD ON TABLE . . .4 years this government fucked this WORLD UP
15:05 Lumina? More like Ruzina
@2:32 How disgusting you have to be to just casually go out with a car in that state. I understand that I have a dirty car, but that's nowhere close to being like that. I will do deep clean after winter on mine though, will steam off all the salts that will accumulate on the carpets throughout the wet 'n salty winter.
Edit: Watched the whole video, this content never disappoints, but the condition on these cars make me speechless.
Here some advise for yall, if absolutely NEEDED uses Blue Devil headgasket repair. I warped the head on my 09 tacoma 2.7 liter and had to use it. Its now been over 23k since then and its still fine!
Just remember, if you think your mechanic is judging you…. they probably are.
All I saw in this video are perfectly working vehicles 👍
6:53 not only did the pison seal fail. Look at the brake line. Its twisted. Someone did brakes and didnt put the caliper back on correctly twisting the line and creating this issue.
Nice to have a face to go with the voice.
I love all of your videos. ❤
I have been watching them for quite a while now.
People need to get under their cars and look at stuff.
This is what putting salt on the road in winter does to your car. It eats it up!
But it adds "flavor" :)
People are to stupid and too cheap to spend the $10 and get a car wash with underbody flush when they fill up during the winter.
Obligatory yearly MOT inspection? No, because "freedom"...
@@reno145 So your doors can freeze shut??
Rock salt 'sweats' at >80% humidity ('hygroscopic') but not much in the dry cold of Winter. (Rinse underbody w/plain water in Spring) The chloride (CaCl) that MI and other states spray on dirt roads to minimize dust and somewhat 'cement' solidity 'sweats' at >20% humidity, aka 24/7/365 here in the Midwest, with road salt still getting the rap in many places where dust is the culprit. btw, Driving/owning/wrenching since '66.
The new non-AI voice is way better. I finally subscribed.
I am a Kiwi mechanic and the rust in the cars I see from the salt belt makes my blood run cold. I got failed for a 1990 F150, in great condition, a slight dust rust on the chassis here. Yet the rule is that corrosion should not compromise a load bearing structure. Trouble is that a whole lot of inspectors are from non english speaking, so words like excessive and significant are not understood.
Watching all these rusty, failed safety inspections........In the Chicago area no one would have a car that was over 3 years old. A few rivets and a couple stolen street signs and they are back on the road.
1:46 I hope the customer paid for the new filter and drove off with it first, so they wouldn't accuse the shop of destroying the old one.
With the cabin air filters you need a vacuum cleaner to clean that crap out
Both of these vids with the mercedes E-class, subframes rusting the trailing arms off is very common. Mercedes recognises the issue and even offers settlement on pricing for these repairs. Still after all these years.
A costumer of mine has a E-class taxi with 700k KM on the clock when this happened, mercedes gave him 50% off on the subframe. I think that's pretty good costumer care if you ask me.
I pulled a rat's nest out of a cabin filter. Owner said there is an odd smell in the car, I could barely breathe, fully masked up
2:54 I would’ve definitely refused to work on that vehicle
How common is it to find a car in that condition in the US? Are there any regulations about the vehicle condition that should be met to drive public roads?
Not really
Some states have an emission inspection. That’s it,
Law enforcement can cite you or (in severe cases) seize your vehicle for equipment failures or other safety issues, but this is rare. Generally if you pay registration, pass the emissions test, and it looks like a stett legal vehicle, you can drive just about anything on public roads... 'Murica.
1st video, I drove taxi for a company with cheep bastard owner. We had to operate on tires in like condition. New tires were either well used, or retreads if he was feeling generous.
3:20 if you think thats bad you should have seen my moms Volvo V40 D3 air filter last year before i changed it. Saw that there was never an air filter change since we bought the car in 2021. Took the filter out, the orange spongy foam was all cracked and ripped, the filter was very gray and dirty and full of sand and the wool looking stuff was just gone, nowhere to be found, just a bit of silicone looking glue stuff in its place. Glad i ignored my dad trying to discourage me and invalidate me and checked the air filter while i was swapping the light bulb
IF YOU SQUINT, IT'S MINT!
What percentage of your clips are ripped directly from JustRolledIn? Just curious
Are we sure about the dipstick one? And that crankcase pressure didn't push it out? It happens
The ecodiesel, it looks like struvite. Mineral build up.
0:31 When since 2020? lol
Why do these mechanics feel as if they’re owed an explanation?
Oh my god those ants
Correction, the brakes started PEELING off
0:28 that’s just like my Tacoma before I cut it all out and welded in new metal, for context I’m a mechanic and welder by trade.
Some folks just should not own a motor vehicle. I wonder what the place they live in looks like?
Its all fun working on dirty car people. Keep your car cleaned lol
Hey, someone's playing The Warning Money
In germany mercedes dealer swap rusted rear sub frames for free if the car is in good condition.
These video clips are ancient. Slow week for new content, eh?
oh look, a bunch of clips i've already seen....
Isn't there another channel with this title?
That's calcium from hard water not stop leak.
I thought that too.
If you're going to nit pick everything 😅
Do you know if they use salt on roads in Europe?
Yes they do, quite a bit even
why i dont work on cars anymore just my own that is it
understand that there could be problems if the state forces people to do an MOT every year. then they feel that the state does not follow the constitution, difficult problems lead you to solve. many countries in Europe have MOTs every year. and if there is something wrong that has to do with safety, you have a month to fix it and then do a new MOT just for what was supposed to be fixed. it can also happen that the driver gets a flag on the window that says the car is to be scrapped
1 st . video tells the people what the government has done to the WORLD in 4 years. . . .in just 4 years the world
First! Keep Rollin' those wrecks in!
And they breed.
Meanwhile the state says "We don't need no stinkin' safety inspections".
I don't want no state inspections either!
It's better not to have safety inspections.
Unfortunately, many car owners obviously can't handle the responsibility of keeping their vehicles roadworthy themselves.
When things go too far, legislation must intervene. Which is annoying.
Good. More states are doing away with them.
I really don't understand why all states in America don't introduce an annual vehicle inspection to make sure the cars/bikes/vans are 100% road legal it would also mean unsafe cars are taken off the road until repaired or deemed unrepairable and crushed ...... Imagine the revenue it would create
What I have understood is that everything that you have to do in the USA that has to do with authorities is offensive and un-American and that you are not allowed to decide for yourself, there is a risk that it will be called a communist measure even though very few people in the USA know what communism is is. I actually think that a lot of Americans behave like petulant children who don't get their way even though the other way is better.
Because conservatives HATE government and want to get rid of it until they need help.
Yes, being told what to do, when to do it, how to do it and where to do it is much, much better than freedom. Why, just ask the people in North Korea. There, they even have approved hairstyles. Yes, I have been there - twice. My job took me there. It's a wonderful place to live. You seldom have to make any decisions. The government is your friend and has your best interests in mind. Just wow! Do you realize most of these vehicles are the exception? Just amazing! @anderssoderlind6183
@@anderssoderlind6183Yes, being told what to do by your government is much better than the government working FOR its people. Just wow! It sounds like you are the petulant one, wanting us to be victims of the government, maybe like pre-WWII Germany perhaps. You realize most of these cars are the exception, right? Go ask your mommy. She can explain it to you. Just wow!
The road safety benefits would help. But all the sov citz, stoners, unlicensed and nutters will just ignore it. Needs to be integrated like here in Australia. Police cars scan 14 cars around them continually. Alets them to unreg, unlicensed owners and dui drivers. The park in a turning lane or bus lane and wait for fools to pass them. Ping.
Must have Run out of new clips...
Ikr.
The dude just repeated everything the previous narrator said in all the original videos.
At some point you have to look at a car and say don’t bother driving it due to rust or a messy inside like some of these cars and then the big question is will the driver get a new car or a used one and just do the same thing again. We are getting very close to a point where we need self driving cars so that upkeep on cars and trucks can be followed and DIY doesn’t work anymore you only make things 20x worse.
Obligatory yearly MOT inspection? No, because "freedom"...
In Chile they are mandatory, once in a year for passenger cars and light trucks and every 6 months for public transport. Cars, buses and trucks.
@@jalwchl Don't compare Chile to a s hole like the US, that's not fair.
Not all States require that.
@@steamboatwillie935 I know, your country is a s hole.
Fuck MOT. Land of the free.
