In this video, I'll do what I can to bring a damaged and neglected art deco-esque storage chest / trunk back into great condition. Veneer patching, repairs, and replacement, adding more structure to the drawer bottoms, re-staining the trim wood to match the beautiful walnut veneer, and more. None of these repairs are considerably complicated, but they ARE time consuming. Hoping you enjoy this furniture makeover!

BTW, Angie, I never told you, you helped me repair the mirror glass sliding closet doors in our kid's condo. When she moved in, the mirror was nearly completely separated from the metal door framing. She liked the doors (we discussed just removing it altogether and putting up a curtain), so to try to save them, I got some clear liquid nails that said it could be used on mirror. Problem was how to hold it in place to make sure it would stay in place and cure. I knew clamps were likely to break the mirror and after puzzling on it a bit, I flashed back on what you do to make sure veneer adhere. I used a ton of painters tape, and kept it in place for 48 hours. It was perfect, and 2 years later it is still working well. So, thank you!

Gosh, it's so beautiful! Since I started watching your channel, I have begun to dream about owning at least one wooden chest or drawer some day. My husband and I will move into an inherited house at some point in the future, and I always imagine furniture like this in there. Especially since I'm only 5,2" and would love to not be on my toes to put away clothes or towels all the time.
I live in Austria, though. I haven't started looking for someone who does the same as you do here, yet. I hope I find someone. It makes me insanely happy to see these pieces come to life again through your skilled hands.

Another beautiful job - thanks so much for giving this chest a new lease on life! I was so excited when I saw that you'd be working on one of these. When I was growing up, everyone's mom had some sort of chest like this (or certainly similar to it), so it brought back such happy memories. You breathed life back into it again so someone else can love it for a long time!

WOW! I can see why you let this one rest in storage for a while. That was a LOT of repair to tackle on a relatively small piece! But the results are, as always, absolutely gorgeous. It looks better now than it probably did new. I could not even pick out where your patches were! Fantastic work.

Angie, I’m just now watching this. I was stunned to see you get your hands on this piece. My parents had one almost exactly like this, except for the scrolling and the knobs on the front. I don’t know whatever became of it, but I love that little chest. It was simple, clean lines, And they treasured it. I had come to do the same.
Thank you so much for the care you took in straightening the drawers, despite all the warping. As always, you do exquisite work and I enjoy your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing - you’re doing just fine.😎

Absolutely amazing. It totally disproves the adage "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" LOL Brava you've done it again. I have my mother's old bedroom set with that waterfall edge veneer and I'd love to save it like this, very inspirational, thanks.

The colors are so dimensional and vibrant. Another outstanding transformation! I have a soft spot for cedar chests, My mother's grandfather made one for his new bride back in 1905. It passed on to my Gram then my Mom and now me--it is a real heirloom piece.

I absolutely love the way you take so much care and attention to detail for these unloved pieces of furniture. Whenever I watch your videos it's almost like you're bringing something back to life. The pieces of furniture DO have their own personalities and you help them to be proud once more. Brilliant 👏 👏 👏

This just doesn’t look like the same piece of furniture. I know I think that quite often regarding your refinished projects, but honestly you take so much time and trouble because you are a perfectionist and you don’t know any other way to work. Beautiful Angie ❤

I wanted to tell you that I'm a ling.time fan, though I rarely comment. Thank you for your content. I watch purely for entertainment. I've never refinished furniture and likely never will, but I find your work fascinating and very educational. This is probably my favorite transformation, and I can't explain why! It's beautiful. Thanks, Angie, for all you do.

Lovely outcome, as always❤❤❤ edit: nice that you veneered the back, so that it can be used as a coffee table.

I have been watching you for about 3-4 years, I think. While I have never been a wood-look enthusiast, I am always impressed by the transformations you are able to accomplish, and the process is fascinating. That Odie’s oil is magical stuff. Thank you for being one of the people working to rescue our planet from the constant barrage of trash by making sad, tired pieces feel fresh and useable, again. I hope your family had a wonderful Christmas. The video clips of the cats were adorable.
