That’s what we (in Texas) call “making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear”. You went much easier on David when picking the piece for him to work on than he did you! Your piece was WAY more work! Nicely done!!!

We built a straw bale addition to our house, and for the wood-framed parts, burned the cedar siding for a shou sugi ban finish… even the kids were out there with blowtorches all day, having a great time. We are so happy with the process and the result.

Your attention to detail, the obvious research that you do in relation to the history of the piece etc, is truly amazing. Honestly, what a transformation! You’ve certainly outdone yourself on this one! It looked like that poor dresser had at least ‘two’ legs in the grave. I never thought I’d say, “He gave the piece a proper vacuuming as well as hot bath, scrubbing every nook and cranny,” while describing bedroom furniture. Stain? Yes. Paint. Yes. Vacuuming, a bubble bath, and a spritz of dewormer? Nooo. But you’ve made it all worthwhile!

Wow! Wow! And Wow! This is stunning. I hope David can emulate your talent. I subscribed to Davids channel the same day I subscribed to yours, and I can’t tell you how great it is to see you both collaborating. You are two of the nicest people on UA-cam and definitely two of the most talented. Congratulations on your finished piece Jay, your transformation was truly miraculous. I think David has been a little sneaky, but I suspect he will be truly amazed at your work. Not only that, but very happy at your success, he’s too nice not to be. ❤

Wow, Jay! Just wow! It looks like there's minimal original wood left, and you've pulled off a miracle with virtually building a new chest. The industrial vibe is perfect and the casters are a great addition. If it's kitty approved, it's good. And how nice to see your little warrior guy in the background. Cheers from Oklahoma!!!

Beautiful job on that sad old chest of drawers. It looks great. I would love to have it in my home. Have you ever used any of your little scraps of wood to make doll house furniture? I was thinking that those little bitty scraps would be cute turned into doll tables and beds and such.

😂😂😂😂😂 This challenge was so great! Immensely ugly pieces to begin with and gorgeous results at the end. It was truly entertaining.

Absolutely stunning Jay!! The pieces you show are progressively worse than the one before it ., but the finished version is greater than the one before. Your skills just keep getting better and better!!! BTW, I'm loving how you're adding more and more comedic elements to your videos. Very funny. Thanks for doing what you do!

Thanks for these restoration project videos. Most informative and entertaining. I fully understand the concept of having all the screw slots go in the same direction. When I was building scenery and props for theater, I did the same, mainly for the guy who had to take it apart so he'd /she'd know I cared. Thanks, again, F.
