In this video I challenge David from @MayfieldRestorations to transform a very tired, painted piece of furniture into something beautiful. David also challenges me with the worst piece of furniture I have ever seen. This was so much fun. Go see David's video and what he did.

The dresser turned out beautifully. You have a very good eye for design and your sense of humor makes your restorations a delight to watch. The cat of course, adds a touch of elegance and dignity.

That’s what we (in Texas) call “making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear”. You went much easier on David when picking the piece for him to work on than he did you! Your piece was WAY more work! Nicely done!!!

Perfect! Rustic and robust and so cool. The contrast between charred and almost-natural wood is amazing. Thanks for being so inspiring!
We built a straw bale addition to our house, and for the wood-framed parts, burned the cedar siding for a shou sugi ban finish… even the kids were out there with blowtorches all day, having a great time. We are so happy with the process and the result.

Honestly, what a transformation! You’ve certainly outdone yourself on this one! It looked like that poor dresser had at least ‘two’ legs in the grave. I never thought I’d say, “He gave the piece a proper vacuuming as well as hot bath, scrubbing every nook and cranny,” while describing bedroom furniture. Stain? Yes. Paint. Yes. Vacuuming, a bubble bath, and a spritz of dewormer? Nooo. But you’ve made it all worthwhile!

I just came across Mayfield Restorations today & came on over to your channel. I struck gold with you both! The dramatic intro was excellent- totally had my interest from start! Thank you so much for sharing your talent & humor!

😂😂😂😂😂 This challenge was so great! Immensely ugly pieces to begin with and gorgeous results at the end. It was truly entertaining.

What a fun idea to do this challenge. Would love to see more like this and what you did to that poor old dresser is amazing, it turned out beautiful. Well done ! 😃
