I just flew BKK-HND-SFO on ANA. It was in PE, but I checked out the economy section on both flights. BKK-HND was on a 787-9. Economy was 3-3-3 with 34” seats, which is comparable to JAL’s economy seat on international flights. I’ve flown this configuration in economy and it’s excellent, as is JAL’s economy. The HND-SFO flight was on a 777-300ER configured with the new “The Room” business class seats. That took up a huge part of the plane. Economy was in one cabin with a 3-4-3 configuration and only 31” seats (per Seatguru). Any plane with z3-4-3 seating is going to be a lot more uncomfortable for long haul flights.

Outstanding trip report. They always serve a consistent service. The catering service and the crew are always the highlights of ANA flights; and that makes up for the dated-looking IFE

I have flown that route several times - through NRT or HND to the US and back from SIN or KUL, on ANA. I think you'll find that NRT is the larger airport (in terms of area and # of international flights) while HND has more flights due to the high number of domestic flights. Agree with you - NRT Terminal 2 is really good. I prefer it over HND as a transfer terminal. Haven't tried ANA economy in years - looks good though from your review. :)

Thank you very much for sharing the flight, I think ANA's service is very good. I liked the food and also that the seat looks great. I hope to be able to fly in it sometime! Many greetings from Chile :)

First time on a 787 Narita to Vietnam next week. Can't wait to see what's it like.

As a Singaporean I prefer ANA than SQ in terms of pricing and quality of food. Service is about the same but the variety of drinks are more on ANA. Movie selection wise SQ is more of course. Booking SQ flights originating from Singapore is more expensive than ANA. Also you get more reward miles compared to SQ. So yeah I would take ANA in a heartbeat.

Wow 34” seat pitch. Cant wait to try. Korean Air was ‘only’ 33” but it was super comfortable already.

I have been to NRT a lot of times, but I have never seen a United 737-800 aircraft there. It is quite odd.
