About the cam belt; those engines received a volountary dealer/workshop task (yes volountary which means workshops/dealers didnt do it) which replaces or adds a cam belt shield. Usually the drive/auxiliary belt snaps or comes loose, hits the cam belt and the rest is history. See if you can get hold of that extra piece of plastic (or make one) which shields the cam belt from the drive belt. A buddy was lucky that his engine/car mileage was just under the limit of the insurance to cover a new engine. Thnks for a good vid lads
My 2.0 had the updated shield, VW dealer fitted a new belt as the one on the car broke when they were prepping it for me for purchasing, 5 weeks later the new belt shredded and the bits of the belt went behind the updated shield and threw the timing belt off at 75mph. Engine was toast, replaced by a new crate engine after a lot of back and forwards with the dealer. Turns out they didn’t notice the seized idler pulley when they replaced the belt first day 😮
Might be something we look at. We've done this test a few times and it tends to pull around 20-25hp less with off road tyres- ua-cam.com/video/xeKBvQqSmlI/v-deo.html
Nice content! 🤌 Add some fender flares instead of modifying front bumper. Looks better when wide For better flex off road I recon. To remove front oem stabilizer, or find something thinner as this one is to firm.
That front bumper looks amazing. I wish I could get something like that for my T5. The only thing close I can get is from Australia and the postage is more than the bumper 😢
Great work, love the vid, but have you done anything to help stop mud getting in the cam belt cover again, that caused all this work in the first place?
We want to get estimated figures for what a road going 2.0 can do with this set up. Off road tyres tend to lose around 20-25bhp so it would be less accurate to what it's actually doing

Amarok video are the best!! 🎉🎉
Looking forward to seeing the results
Looking good need to come back and take on drumclog again 😁
Should do a comparison on the dyno between standard size tyres and mud tyres!

Yeah we'll either be getting some flares or wider arches for it
Always interested in an engine build focused on lower down and torx!!
Little nod to MCM there 😂

Love your vids guys!

Yes we'll be sealing it off better on the underside 👍
Dyno with the mud tires would be more accurate since that’s what is going to be on it.

You guys ever tried to do a Bi-Turbo 1.9 TDI build?
We built a compound 1.9 years back, theres a spec list on our website
Wonder if building the Amarok with the V6 wouldn't just be a better option for use and abuse off-road.
Of course if budget was unlimited. The cheapest V6 would be 10k more to start with and even more expensive to fix if it goes wrong.
Wheres the 35d hybrid build coming??
Keep an eye on this - ua-cam.com/video/memv6jBYv58/v-deo.html
It'll all be coming fairly fast
Like what you did with the tittle 😉😂
👏👏
I didn't realise vw use a belt in oil was it for the oil pump ?
Yes. It was hanging on for dear life, we've seen a few old / high mileage ones fail
Do you remove the ecu when welding? 🤔
No
