    I really like this truck. It looks great, has many great features, but that $91K+ price tag is crazy. It must be a very slim portion of the population that can actually afford this. It seems like the price of trucks has doubled in the last 10 years. Most wages haven't doubled in that timeframe. I think the most I'd spend on a new pickup would be $50K.

      Still stupid expensive but you can atleast get the regular AT4x which gets the AEV front bumper still for 82k. I like this but don’t really think the almost 10k for the AEV package is worth it when at the end or the day it’s not really going to be anymore capable

    I’m an at4x fan if you will, but I have a TRX at $82 with level 2 package. Technically, the atx4 can tow more, but realistically the TRX tows above its “8100lb” capacity closer to 11k. Add a hellwig sway bar for $200 and you don’t notice 11k. The TRX can also haul more from manufacturers numbers and handle more than it’s rated for.

    My 2021 'standard' 1500 AT4, 6 2l was a worthy replacement for my 2013 F150 Platinum 3.5l Ecoboost. Both are great trucks, but that 6.2 with the GM performance exhaust is a joy to listen to. Added bonus is it actually gets slightly better mpg City/Highway than that 1st Gen Ecoboost. I only gave $56k for a dealership demo truck. Mine's missing the revised interior, but for the money difference, I'm happy.

      @Vince Fairleigh I pretty regularly meet/beat the EPA numbers with the 6.2l. I see ca. 15-16 mpg in city and 18-19 highway (interstate 80 mph speeds). Pretty decent considering the negative aero with the factory 2" lift. These numbers were 1-2 mpg better than the Ecoboost in the same duty cycle. I rarely tow, but I quite like the seat of the pants fun (and noise) I get with the 6.2l. I'm near sea level, so I get full benefit from the NA engine.

    Sort of depends on what type of off roading you’re doing. I regularly see full size trucks on trails stopped, not because they can’t handle the terrain, but because they’re too big/wide. Jeeps, and many capable midsize trucks like tacomas, will generally always beat these full size trucks off road. Obviously wide open terrain will be fine, but weight can also be an issue depending on what you’re driving on. Having said that, it’s a beautiful truck and if towing, you’re obviously going to have all the power and capability you need

    Great review. I have a 23 Silverado ZR2 and an AWE exhaust on the 6.2L V8, and it sounds better than my C8 Corvette. I just assumed GM wasn't going to offer that beautiful LZ0 Duramax diesel on these premium off road trucks, but sure enough, about 3 or 4 months from when I bought my truck I hear Roman say GM is going to off the diesel for MY24. I like the AT4X and the massaging seats, but I think the Silverado ZR2 is a better value and will be looking for a MY24 with a diesel here soon. I suspect these trucks hold their value fairly well so I shouldn't have to take too much of a hit on my 23 ZR2.

      Yes indeed, you are absolutely correct. Repossessions are absolutely increasing, but I have my doubts about prices of new vehicles coming down anytime in the near future.
      Personally, I'm just waiting it out, because maybe, if the dealerships start hurting really badly, I just might be able to get a nice vehicle at a relatively decent price, even if it's a pre owned/used one.
      The depreciation immediately after you drive the vehicle off of the lot is just crazy.

    Now I am more curious to see how the HD ZR2 / AT4x will ride in comparison to this since they apparently disregarded payload on the half ton but prioritized it on the HD. Ford some how managed to get 1200 - 1400 lbs of payload on the raptor but still has a soft ride. The Chevy bison is not much better at 1,047 lbs of payload, so I can’t say it’s all the luxury finishes. It’s a beautiful truck though.

    My biggest issue with GM trucks is that most models on the lot don't even have four low any more. You have to get an off road package or order a truck and put it on. It's only a few hundred dollars, but I figure it would cost thousands because I doubt you would get all the markdowns when ordering over buying off the lot. You have to get into a 60-70K truck to even see this option.

    For the ppl who seem confused:
    Lockers aren't magic offroad juice. They help when you have one of the tires on an axle losing traction and spinning, preventing the other tire from getting power.
    This generally occurs when off kilter/articulated. If you're planted on all 4s, with solid ground beneath, they won't do a whole lot.

    Hi, you said that you weren't doing the maneuvers with lockers on towards the end of the video. Does that apply to the entire video? Does that mean that aside from the extra lift of the X and the adjustable shock absorbers you're basically driving and getting At4 performance? I just bought a 2023 AT4 and I'm having a little buyer's remorse thinking I wish I had bought a used AT4X with a couple of thousand miles on it for the same price I paid for a brand new 2023. My usage is really just on the street but you know how it is ego kicks in. I was just Leary of somebody buying and taking it out and thrashing it on the trails and then putting it up for sale.

    Great looking truck, but too big and too expensive. However, I think the Canyon version of this is going to be excellent and best in class. Also, when I was a kid, my parents had 80s GM cars that had that same textured paint on the rockers.

  • @wannabeangler
    @wannabeangler Рік тому +2

    Yay! Another "truck" can go through your course. My Q is why is the bed so small? Isn't a truck's main function to haul and tow? Then why are the beds so small? I'd rather have a truck with an 8' bed that I can haul stuff rather than having to tow everything because the bed is not much bigger than a Camry's trunk.

    • @LaunchpadGP
      @LaunchpadGP Рік тому +1

      I would wager that most modern truck buyers hardly haul or tow anything at all. That being said this is an extreme offroad trim and an 8' would result in a poor breakover angle, turning radius, etc. that would negatively impact offroad capabilities. If your priority is to haul stuff, this is simply not the trim for you and you're probably paying for offroad goodies that you will never use.

    1,000lbs of payload? No thanks! If I NEEDED F/R lockers, I could get a Gladiator Rubi for $20,000 less. If I wanted more payload I could get a Tremor! I know, I know, no front locker…in my opinion (and 95% of situations other than rock crawling) a Torsen front end is just as good as a locker!

  • @Cmorris801
    @Cmorris801 Рік тому

    Challenge the truck! Looks like you’re in a field where a Honda CRV could make it through. GM should want to see you push it and we want the same. Bring a stock Sierra with you. show how much more capable the zr2 and at4x is. We don’t see any locker use and that is what makes the zr2 and at4. Put the frame on the ground, you have skid plates that can handle it. That is the point of the bison/AVE. If GM says no call them out it’s a 80000 dollar tuck that they advertise can handle it…

      Well first off this is the AEV so you need to compare it to the Bison, which is like $8k on top of the ZR2s price. The difference shrinks to about 10 from there I bet. The GMC is ritzier inside and I believe it has some options you can't get on the Chevy similar to whatever it is that makes the Denali Ultimate so much pricier than the High Country.
