That's true. Jodie has competed in Italy's Mille Miglia in a vintage Jaguar XK120 with codriver David Gandy, then again in a BMW 328 roadster. She also raced in the Maserati Trofeo Series and the Gumball 3000 piloting a Lamborghini Murcielago, and a few other races that I can't recall at the moment, sorry. Jodie has also been featured on My Classic Car and Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson and is on their leader board with a laptime of 1 minute 48 seconds (I don't know what kind of car she achieved that time in, sorry). Is Jodie Kidd fast? I'd say that's a resounding yes.
XP GT used to sit on the boulevard at McLaren technology centre along with XP5. I used to see it everyday when going over for breakfast. There was some seating next to it depending on where it was on the boulevard, I sometimes used to go over and sit next to it just to admire its sheer beauty. I only ever took two photos of it but that’s all I needed. It, along with the other F1 variations are true automotive icons.
Fantastic content once again. Simon is such a knowledgable guy and super engaging to watch. There’s a real on screen chemistry between Simon and Jodie! More please 😁

Great to see George's aubergine inspired F1 up-close on this VT, I'm just surprised that Olivia and Dhani sold the car a couple of years ago. I know George never tended to hold onto his wonderful array of cars over the years, the only one I got to spend time with was his 600 Pullman. I honestly thought his F1 would remain in the Harrison family, the Swiss based new owner is a lucky fellow. Thanks Jodie and Simon for this excellent instalment, I look forward to catching up with more episodes.
What a smashing video with multiple mclaren F1s, well worth waiting for jodie. Simons knowledge and storytelling I could listen to forever, love watching kiass

Everyone made a huge fuse over the xj220 I briefly spoke to Gordon who was amazing! When I asked him how fast it could go he didn’t flutter to say 240mph! But at that time it was untested. However Gordon said no less than 230mph. As a 14 year old pup I was gob smacked! ……. I knew he wasn’t bull sh!ting. An a amazing human being and a true petrol head. I feel blessed to have been able to spend a moment in time with Gordon. (I have the photos to preserve my memory 😉) great video once more! 🥳
Hi Jodie. We all know of your passion by now but Simon is your kindred spirit ! Literally a once in a lifetime opportunity for you both ! Those little gems at the end ... l would dearly loved to have met George , such a sweet , gentle man . He was the first Beatle to enjoy a solo number 1 album , the triple album "All things must pass " which l literally wore out on vynal and 8 track ( ask someone very old what an 8 track is !) Jodie , l know l tend to wax lyricals about you and "Kidd in sweet shop " but l'm only saying what everyone thinks !! Has to be the best yet !! .....l think l've said this before !! Thankyou Jodie and Thankyou Simon ! 💖
I rarely comment, but in this case I cannot help but heap praise on this production. I was captivated from start to finish and stunned by Mr.Kidston's knowledge about all the cars and in my humble opinion, he and Jodie Kidd are a natural fit when it comes to presenting. Finally, I was also moved and felt the spirituality within George Harrison's F1. Thanks to all for time well spent.
I was working next door to McLaren in Albert Drive when they were developing the F1. A couple of windows on the first floor overlooked the rear of their place and I'd occasionally get a glimpse of a prototype, then later see it uncamouflaged. They still look stunning to this day - and thanks for showing us such a gorgeous selection!
I had a similar experience with the XJ220. I went to school in Bloxham, the village they were built, most days we'd see 1 (or a few) driving through the village doing testing or shakedown runs. I always felt so privileged seeing them and the drivers would always wave to us or give us a thumbs up.
Jodie The respect you showed getting into George's car was amazing-checking to make sure nothing scratched the leather-was beautiful. Wish I could teach my son to treat my 2017 Ford Focus RS this well. Truly a wonderful video that i couldn't stop watching-Well Done
I’m half an hour in and just loving this!! My favourite car ever since it’s launch when I had a scale model and posters on my wall. That you got to sit in George’s car…wonderful!! Great channel Jodie. 👍🏻👏🏻
Wow wow wow . I'd seen this display on social media recently but only Kidd In A Sweet Shop got the exclusive interview with Mr F1 Kidston. Fascinating stuff. This video is right up there with the F50 drive and 250 GTO / Daytona drive. Thanks Jodie it was brilliant 👏. Keep up the good work. Andy.
Kudos to Simon for putting that incredible display together...WOW; Hats off Sir. The Mclaren F1, one of the most desirable cars ever...Jodie Kidd, one of the most desirable girls ever...Bloody hell, its Jeff in a sweet shop!!
Good to see Simon back again! And he's right, it's the stories, the people and the history are far more interesting than simply the numbers and stats involved. Congratulations on another great episode. KIASS, Iain Tyrell and Harry's Garage are the best petrolhead channels out there by a long way. Are you going to Goodwood this weekend Jodie? Hope so!
Thank you for sharing these wonderful works of art. I was blessed in 2016 by my wife who found out that McLaren of Philadelphia had F1 LM #02 on display. We drove 4 hours from Pittsburgh to see it. What a moment that was. I cried LOL I met my hero car of the 90s and it was fantastic. I will probably never get the chance to see a McLaren F1 again. I have pictures and I did bring my model F1 LM to get pictures with the real deal!
Even after 30 years there's always something new to learn about the F1 I remember seeing chassis number 001 which was McLaren's own car, being driven through Woking on its way to the Park Lane show room in 1994, it still wore its protective blue film on the bodywork. Fantastic video and loved every second, you very lucky girl. Well done and thank you!
That XP GT Longtail prototype is the Holly grail of all addicted to petrolicious street usable performance cars : has only 2 sisters, the amazing V12 Natural Aspirated + 6speed manual, all wrapped in such pretty flowing shape painted in that stunning pearl green with the ivory interior is absolutely puurfection.. Can’t stop watching all your content, the people you meet and the cars you find are phenomenal. I’ve been lucky enough to meet a few of those F1s at Goodwood. They are glorious machines.
Wonderful, more of Mr Kidston please, he has such great taste in cars and a wealth of knowledge, perhaps you could do an episode of his fathers Bugatti, such a great story with that, I watched his wonderful video. What I love about your channel is that it is full of real enthusiasts not flash Harry’s!
Oh and just for clarity, I was using the term flash Harry in the old school English sense of the word and in no way meant the wonderful Harry Metcalf from Harry´s Garage who is a real enthusiast in every sense of the word. I was meaning more the producer michaels of this world!
Just started watching the vid but had to pause it...... Did you just say the Macca F1 was 30 years old???? Bloody hell - I now officially feel old! Thanks!!! ;-)
What an amazing episode, worthy of the car. You could spend a week with Simon Kidston talking about cars without getting bored for a moment, i think. It's lovely that he made a conscious decision to present the cars to the general public in this way.
Simon Kidston is the most sympatic second hand car dealer I´ve ever seen (and heard)! And Ms Kidd isn´t bad either.. Great video, I was almost into tears about George Harrisons car and the guitarr.
I worked at the NY auto show in 2015, and I got to sit in the driver's seat of this exact F1 GT Longtail. It was there as well, and my job was to "guard" the car and answer questions about it. Definitely something i'll never forget. I worked for McLaren and was fortunate enough to briefly drive a P1 (my other favorite McLaren) as well as every other model that was out at the time. To me though, sitting in the F1 was definitely one of my favorite moments. This is the first time since then that I saw the car again. As a side note... I'm a guitar player and it was super cool to see that Gordon actually made an F1-styled Fender Stratocaster for George! Suuuper cool! Great video!!!
Ms Kidd, you have absolutely outdone yourself. Best episode yet. What a fantastic overview of the F1 - I learned more in this episode than I did in years of reading car magazine articles. Simon is great; what a font of knowledge. Please make him a guest on future episodes . Would love to see some episodes on pre-war Bugattis and Italian cars of the 50s. I look forward to new episodes in my feed.
Really wonderful to see these amazing cars and especially Georges beautiful car. I'm not surprised that you could feel Georges energy sitting there. Thank you Jodi.
One MUST immediately become a fan and admirer of the McLaren F1 (if you are not yet one...) in listening to Simon, explaining all this! Bravo once more!!!
Jodie, brilliant, you are truly in your element, especially when there is no script. Your true enthusiasm and personality shines through, I’m such a fan and every video is better than the last….and no music……yeah!!
Only just found the time to sit down and properly watch this Jodie.... I'm running out of compliments and superlatives... Your channel just gets better and better... Thank you...xx
Opulent and Exquisite, but never arrogant or condescending... This is PROPER way to geek out over Cars. Hats off to you Jodie and Simon, and the crew filming, sound, and editing. simply wonderful. Who doesn't sigh in amazement at this beautiful display.
The F1 was (and still is) a fascinating vehicle in so many ways. I’ve always wondered why no other manufacturer has ever picked up the three seat layout. Think Jaguar F-Type, Mazda MX-5, Audi TT. All relatively small production volume two seat sports cars. With the F1’s seat layout all these would become practical, comfortable daily (fun) drives for people who are not stick thin, vertically challenged contortionists and for the manufacturer there would be no need to complicate production with left and right hand drive versions. Come to think of it using the F1 layout in an EV you could make a quite compact little rocket which would be a riot on a windy B-road… Once again thank you Jodie for a very enjoyable video.
There was a 60s Ferrari with 3 seats and a central seating location which I've seen a couple of times, the Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale. They made only 2 of them.
Absolutely stunning Girl❤️ Jodie.... so enthusiastic.. Never seen a woman like you... You must receive 1 Million followers... So underrated... Greetings from Luxembourg👋
OMG YES!!! What a fantastic insight - even if one has trawled all through the various YT videos of these mythical beasts. What an honour! Thank you Kidd and Kidston. Loved every minute.
A fantastic tribute to an automotive icon. Thank you for these brilliant videos giving insight into a world of cars we can only dream about. Keep them coming!!
Thank you Jodie for another fantastic episode. My favorite dream car presented by your wonderful self with Simon, perfect, you keep lifting the level of your channel, looking forward to more fantastic content. Thank you.
All I can say is wow, wow, wow!! To see such magnificent machines all gathered in one place must have been special. Absolutely loved watching this, thanks Jodie, you knocked another one out the park!
Almost everything in this video concerning the F1, I have either read or watched in various places over the years, and yet I still found this a riveting. Such a fascinating car. Thanks for sharing this Jodie, a very enjoyable watch.
Hi Jodie. One of your best video's. Loved it. You and Simon make such a great team. Hope you do more video's like this with him. Such a gentleman. And to have the whole stand open to the public is very kind of him. 😍😍🙏
What a thrill for you ( and all that was there) to see this, and to get a guided tour! I am jealous. Oh, wait. We all are with you....via this UA-cam video....to see all of this and be in this guided tour! Thanks for bringing us along!
Oh wow. Well done, Kidd & Kidston for paying such an epic homage to this magnificent machine. Simon is such a true connoisseur in the motoring realm. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of history with us in your sensational style, Kidd. This has been the best one yet. Oh, your boots totally rocked and may you never stop touching those beautiful machines as though you're molding and sculpting them out of clay. Love from SA 🤙
This has to be the best yet. It made me smile from beginning to end and loved the enthusiasm. By the way I also feel impelled to touch the special cars.
This video gave me heart warms and heart skips. Nice one Jodie. Simon did an awesome job with both presenting and talking about all these magnificent cars.
I remember, in the early 90's, I was a rep and chatting to a customer outside his workshop in a place called Wolvey when we heard the distinctive tone of a V12 slowing for the road junction right by us. I remember it was silver and had XP3 written on it. One of those memories that never fades.
I am a big Fan of Simon, but also you Jodie made your part very strong!!! Love this Video. And again, a car's history is Mainz an older, nice car to a collection Car, IT is the Soul!!😍
I was waiting to see what comes next with Simon Kidston. And you didn't dissapoint! What an absolutely fantastic video. And to feature one of the worlds most iconic cars was the cherry on the cake. I look forward to more colabs with Simon. Now if you could comeback and visit South Africa and see a few of the collections here that would be very cool.
I have actually been inside that blue and orange LT. When it was stood at the Aston Mclaren dealership. They said I could have it for 8-9 million pounds at the time. Because apparently, it had no significant race results I was there to test drive a sky blue 650S. They ended up fully restoring it and its now even more priceless than it was back then.
There are presently 4 F1 GTR longtails that wear the Gulf-Davidoff livery from 1997, including chassis 25R seen in this video. It is highly unlikely the one you saw was this car. Most likely it was GTR 28R which more closely matches your description as it was the GTC team’s spare car for 1997, only taking part in races after this chassis retired from a fire at Le Mans that year. GTR 28R’s best result in those final races was 6th place overall.
@@Peloton25 Then probably one of the other ones, yes. Not that I had millions of pounds to spend on the thing, but yeah we had a good talk about it at the dealership. I cant remember all the details now, ofcourse. It was in need of a full restore at the time. This would have been..... Just before the 720S was released.
@@captain_context9991 GTR 25R came from Japan prior to the restoration Simon spoke about and was solid white with no sponsorship decals at the time, a look it had worn for most of the prior decade.
@Kidinasweetshop Thanks for bringing so much joy with your videos. What A wonderful video the fantastic story of McLaren. really spot on and detailed so sharp. keep it up the amazing work! hooray!

I wouldn't have thought they would have sold the car, is that true. It's not like they need the money. It has George allover it.

What a great video. This car still continues to fascinate me like no other - I thumb through my copy of Driving Ambition very regularly to this day!

Good point Graeme! Glad you enjoyed the episode X
There was a 60s Ferrari with 3 seats and a central seating location which I've seen a couple of times, the Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale. They made only 2 of them.
Amazing stories, the narrative is so interesting. That LM is fist bitingly amazing…. 🙏😩
Isn’t it just!

Thank you Tommy. Totally agree with you about Simon, he is so knowledgeable. Thanks a lot! 🇿🇦

This video gave me heart warms and heart skips. Nice one Jodie.
Simon did an awesome job with both presenting and talking about all these magnificent cars.
Awww thanks. He sure did! Xx
Making not Mainz
So true! Thanks 🙏🏼
I’d love to come to SA one day! Glad you’re enjoying the channel xx
brilliant so interesting, I could listen to Simon all night, you were brilliant as well Jodie x
Thanks!!
Oh wow! Priceless indeed. What a special car x

Then probably one of the other ones, yes.
Another epic production, many thanks! Jodie suits the F1 so well.
Thank you! 😊 hope to get behind the wheel one day
