Why are you comparing whiskeys in different glasses? Invest in a set of Glencairn glasses if you are going to talk about color and nose... Woodford wins in my book.
+nilaymistry555 just what we have available, Also so the person that pours them knows which is which. Since it is a blind taste test after all. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment!
I understand, but it would help to be more systematic with the process...a sharpie on the glasses can work to differentiate between samples. A few sips of water between tastings would be a good idea, too. Keep up the fun videos!
agree, Nila. like a piece of tape on the bottom, with an A and B could work. same glasses for sure: to make sure that the smelling portion have equal footing, for what that's worth.
i was a either Makers Mark or Johnny Walker Black drinker in my 20s and early 30s, until i discovered Woodford around 15 years ago, since then i only ever spent my money on Woodford. it's so good it's dangerous, as half a bottle can be gone in no time.
I took the tour as well... Having tried Maker's prior, smelling the barrel room brought back that taste even though it had been a while since I've had Maker's. Thanks got the review, I'll be sure to pick up Woodford next time! On a side note, private select is smooth AF
If you wan to sweeter bourbon bourbon try some of the flavored ones, a company called benchmark actually has a brown sugar bourbon we plan on Reviewing soon.
tbh these two are pretty different although both are "high end" (i.e. "expensive"). they're both made to be smooth and uncomplicated, but very drinkable and great for a high-end old fashioned or manhattan. And I don't mean to make fun of fans of either whiskeyu, they're both great accessible bourbons if you have the money for them.
@@kybrewreview Ah yeah, you're right about that. I was asking because Bulleit is the first Bourbon I've bought, not so long ago. I've just bought a bottle of Maker's Mark, really looking foward to tasting it !
I was waiting on this one, thanks guys! Both great bourbons, Maker's tends to be cheaper (750ml bottle $20 MM and &27 Woodford out here), and that's the only edge IMO.
I like how y'all usually disagree on the head to heads lol. Not only is it kinda funny but I think it allows yall to disect the product more (to explain your stance)
In my past life, I've tasted a lot of whiskey, scotch and tequila. I prefer sipping on Woodford. I haven't drank whiskey for over a year and just bought their double oaked, and hope I like it.
I pay $40 for Woodford, and $26 for Maker’s. There is no comparison, Woodford hands down. I drink neat, and have for several years, and Maker’s is gross in comparison.
Woodford is warm, smooth, aniseed with quite strong acetone. It’s my current favourite. I recently tried makers mark and found it very smooth but underwhelming and boring compared.
Woodford is easily better in every way possible. How that weirdo on the right picked wrong makes me question all his opinions. Yes, deliberately over the top for effect.
*I dont get why anyone would WANT a certain drink to win, unless it was substantially cheaper. You should just want the one that tastes better. Right?? 🤔*
first time viewer: You guys are funny. I'd like to see more humor and more drinking.. slur your words, fuck it, it's youtube. nice video though. i liked it. i'm curious about both beverages. thanks for your video :)
Tried woodford several months back. Failed to see the hype. I have yet to try makers mark. Woodford to me was rather bland and just seemed like it was missing something i require in my whiskey.
Special K Not for me. I've tried to give it a chance so many times and it's just boring to me. It hits hot then gives you a little vanilla then finishes spicy. I prefer Heaven hill, Larceny, Makers 46, or Knob Creek for the money. I guess I just want a some more complexity.
Knob creek and makers are both way hotter,(higher proof) and heaven hills is not good. You should give W.L Weller a try, it runs around 25 bucks a fifth and it's a great bourbon.
Special K Makers 46 is a higher proof but it's got a lot less burn at least in the glasses I'm literally drinking right now. I've heard good things about Weller it's on my list. I think it's a rye vs wheat thing. I tend to prefer higher wheat to Rye if you hate Heaven Hill you're probably a bigger rye fan. Do you like Bulliet?
I like bulliet a lot, but honestly other then bulliet I don't drink a lot of rye. Heaven hill is like a 6 dollar bottle of bourbon (in KY) it's what the high school and college kids drink, I think it's fine for mixing but I feel like it lacking in flavor, if want a decent value bourbon check out benchmark.
Woodford goes down like sweet tea. It almost dangerous how smooth it is.
I just tried Mark's and is nasty lol
oOoh sweet tea? ill have to try that
Bruh it burns the throat what u mean-it’s extremely hot and alcoholic

+nilaymistry555 we definitely might start doing a pallet cleanser for sure.

Maker's Maker, el mejor, delicioso.🇲🇽✌️😎

Got a bottle of WOODFORD RESERVE for my birthday. Can’t wait to try it!
Wooodford is hands down my favorite.
+Daniel it's my favorite bourbon!
i never tried either,. kinda wanna buy both and make a video of my friend and i tasting them. nice video
if ur someone who likes a sweet bourbon very brown sugary under 30$ which is the best bottle to go ?
If you wan to sweeter bourbon bourbon try some of the flavored ones, a company called benchmark actually has a brown sugar bourbon we plan on Reviewing soon.
Love em both. Recently switched to Woodford for my manhattans. Love em both straight up too.
Where I live in Arkansas, Makers Mark is $22 and Woodford Reserve is $35 or $36.
Yep, Bentonville here is about the same price. MM is about $21, WR is $32
Out of curiosity, what would you guys rate Woodford at?
Our original review of woodford got pulled, we will do another review soon. I would say it’s a 9 for me, can’t speak for the other guys.
It's not a molasses taste in makers it's the spirits, more time and equiptment gone into the process produces this. Woodford is just regular...
Special K i just want your opinion between Gentleman jack and makers mark..have not tried gentalman jack if you could help me out here.
i would go Makers, though it is a a little hotter than gentleman, i still think its a better whiskey
woodford is great, maker's tastes very spirit-y
Maker mark bourbon 🥃 should use black wax on Halloween 🎃

I would agree. Though I’m not A huge fan of makers.
They are different colors?
Woodfords is way too good and smooth that my mouth waters
Woodford Reserve is a great distillery tour!
I have makers mark, and have been looking at Woodford so this is the perfect video for me 👍
I live in Ireland and Makers Mark is €45 per bottle, I guess thats about $60! Still my favourite bourbon.
Makers is great stuff!
How would Bulleit compare to these two ? :D
its hard to compare bulliet to these 2 since it has a higher rye content.
@@kybrewreview Ah yeah, you're right about that. I was asking because Bulleit is the first Bourbon I've bought, not so long ago. I've just bought a bottle of Maker's Mark, really looking foward to tasting it !

Chris M damn wtf lucky.... where I live makers is about $37 for 750ml and woodford about $45
WOW, those prices are crazy. That's getting into premium bourbon prices. Where do you live?
Chris M eastern north carolina
Jeremy O'Neal I'm in N.Georgia and I buy Woodford sold $31 dollors
Chris M $45 for makers and $75-80 for woodford where I live
I like how y'all usually disagree on the head to heads lol. Not only is it kinda funny but I think it allows yall to disect the product more (to explain your stance)
Ima buy both tomorrow
Makers is excellent
Solid for sure but there are about a dozen others I would pick that are cheaper or the same price that are a bit better.
Both are great Bourbons. However if I had to pick out of the two of them it would be Makers Mark
While I think makers is excellent, Woodford is so much smoother.
Maker mark bourbon whisky. 750ml 20.99 total wine more store
Makers 46 vs Woodford would have been an even tougher decision I think 😁
I agree, because the spice taste is hard to beat around the holidays 😁👍
The added oak taste and nose in 46 make it much too much for me.
Or BT vs WR🦬🪵
In my past life, I've tasted a lot of whiskey, scotch and tequila. I prefer sipping on Woodford. I haven't drank whiskey for over a year and just bought their double oaked, and hope I like it.
+BJ Martin double oaked is fantastic!
Very sweet and oakey. Maple syrup finish. I bought some for the holidays.
I pay $40 for Woodford, and $26 for Maker’s. There is no comparison, Woodford hands down. I drink neat, and have for several years, and Maker’s is gross in comparison.
Yes, way to sweet and also a funky alcohol taste.
Super excited for this one!
Where's SR been?
its hard to get everyone together, but he was over last night and we shot a couple of videos!
Where i live woodford is $28 😎
Pretty solid!
When are you guys going to start to review weed?
When its legal.
@@kybrewreview hell yea lol
Woodford Reserve, at the Total Wine and More stores in FL, is $27.99 for the fifth.
+Sector 001 total wine has great prices, one just opened up here in Ky recently.
Where do you live because in illinois i get that same bottle of makers mark for about $20 to about $ 22
Maybe for a fifth, we live in Kentucky about an hour from the distillery.
Mark mark bourbon whiskey on steak 🥩
ON the steak? wow, like deglazing the pan? .. i use marsala sauce
I've tried both and I can't really tell a difference between the two.
Keep the videos up and youll blow up soon
Anyone else think Makers Mark has gotten way too sweet over the years? I feel like it tasted different 20 years ago.
Woodford is warm, smooth, aniseed with quite strong acetone. It’s my current favourite. I recently tried makers mark and found it very smooth but underwhelming and boring compared.
acetone?! holy shit
I think makers mark tastes too sweet
Acetone?
What do you mean...flavor note or that's an actual substance in it
Flavor note. Not actually in it.
awesome review
Woodford is easily better in every way possible. How that weirdo on the right picked wrong makes me question all his opinions. Yes, deliberately over the top for effect.
This is based on which one you like better blind. Taste is subjective so it just means he likes makers better.
Woodford > Makers all day . Woodford's new Malt is crazy good.
Is makers mark worth buying guys
+Thomas Moore yes, it's a great bourbon, a little hotter then most.
Special K thanks cause I have tried Jim beam White label and liked it and I want to give this a go so thank u man
Thomas Moore if you have tried the white label jim beam you will LOVE makers mark and woodford
*I dont get why anyone would WANT a certain drink to win, unless it was substantially cheaper. You should just want the one that tastes better. Right?? 🤔*
Its personal preference when we say what we want to win, but the test is blind so that is not always the case.
Woodford all the way. You guys should give Lexington town branch a try, it's a good bourbon and around $30 for a fifth
This one, this one, this one. Thanks for the clarity.
It's a blind taste test we don't know what in the glasses.
Tee Turtle shirt I think hehe. Looks familiar. Have one myself XD Squirtle in a shirt pocket haha
first time viewer: You guys are funny. I'd like to see more humor and more drinking.. slur your words, fuck it, it's youtube. nice video though. i liked it. i'm curious about both beverages. thanks for your video :)
also, where's the wife, you mention her, but didn't see her, or hear her voice in the background
She's not doesn't want to have anything to do with the channel, mostly because she has a job that it could be damaging too.
Will they get me pissed
Woodford the whole way smooth too. Knob Creek is good too
Buffalo Trace.
+The Lurker will do!
just picked up some woodford, it had been almost two years, and buffalo trace, my favorite especially the single barrel variety.
This is pretty stupid. You're comparing price ranges with almost a $15-20 difference
+Nick Velonis 5 dollar difference and price doesn't always dictate quality that is the point of the blind taste test.
Maker's is wheated isn't it? I'd think it would be so different.
Tried woodford several months back. Failed to see the hype. I have yet to try makers mark. Woodford to me was rather bland and just seemed like it was missing something i require in my whiskey.
Woodford is easily the best bourbon in the 30-60 dollar category. Makers is also solid but tends to be a little hotter.
Blantons
hopefully soon!
I use Woodford to light the charcoal grill !
It's not a high enough proof to be flammable.
Woodford is way smoother!
Agreed!
2 great bourbons... win win imo..
I agree100%
BabyWoo!!
to me they are both awful. They share a bitterness on the finish that is off putting at best.
They are very high rated bourbon, and I tend to agree, try adding water, or putting it on ice.
Woodford is so over rated in my opinion I just don't get the hype I guess.
Not really, it's the best quality bourbon you can get in the 30 dollar price range. It's a go-to for a true Kentuckian!
Special K Not for me. I've tried to give it a chance so many times and it's just boring to me. It hits hot then gives you a little vanilla then finishes spicy. I prefer Heaven hill, Larceny, Makers 46, or Knob Creek for the money. I guess I just want a some more complexity.
