- Hey 😀
In this video we, as in Johannes, is showing me Jonathan how to throw uphill and downhill in disc golf. One of them is fun. And one of them is uphill. Hope you´ll enjoy the video.
Have a great day and also buy a lot of our stuff :)
/Jonathan

Hello to you! Hope you enjoyed the video. If you´re interested in anything you saw in the video (even Johannes for the right price)
you can get it here 😀:

I will trade one chicken, one ballista, and a lifetime of friendship for one Johannes.
Where do I buy your swag? I need to know what your pants, jacket, and shoes of choice are for these videos. 🖤
Where do I get the metal music from the outro? There's always cool riffs in your video, but I cannot find them and this makes me sad.
Whats the lowest price you go for Johannes?
More (Any) Team J&J swag soon we hope? Treasures like Jonathan and Johannes need to be immortalized on apparel and discs……….. 🧔🏻♂️🧑🏻🦲
"Throw uphill? Don't do it, just skip it." This channel has the best disc golf advice on the Internet.
I have to say how much I appreciate Johnathan's use of crunchy riffs in these videos. It seems like every disc golf video uses like smooth bossa nova music, which is cool, but sometimes you just need those crispy flakes.
Thanks man. Finding the music for the videos is one of the best part making them. I just found a song that has this part that is soo good!!!
How the hell do you guys always find the best possible way to explain something so technical and make it so fun?
I’ve never understood uphill shots and why they never work,
OMG thank you for this video!
Thanks Jonathan for an awesome video once again! Gotta say this video couldn't have come at a better time, currently battling covid and feeling pretty sad ngl. Yours and Johannes shenanigans never fail to bring a smile to me, and you guys managed to make my day (once again! :D). Thanks for the "pick me up" and keep killing the youtube disc golf game! :) Hälsningar från grannlandet :D
Hallå! Tråkigt att höra att du är sjuk. Jag hoppas du tillfrisknar snart! Kul att du gillade videon :) /Sverige och Jonathan också.
"That seems counterintuitive..."
"...it's not..."
Been there. Love this series.
I don’t even have to start watching the video before throwing a thumbs up. The best channel on UA-cam for sure. Most enjoyable people to watch ever. Love you guys and the work y’all share with us.
I want a disc golf towel full of Jonathanisdom. “When you’re down there’s nowhere to go but up, or down. And up again.”
Stroke the board! Thanks again for the best DG content on youtube!
So happy jonathan is back.
I love your music choices!
Great as always! STROKE THE BOARD

Perfect time to open youtube to notice a new video from the best disc golf channel 👏
❤️ back to you Latitude 64, thanks for making my day!
Stop it you 😍
@@Latitude64 never! 🤭❤️ Okay maybe I won't fill up your notification bar. Let's hope for an early spring this year so we can avoid those uphills sometime soon 😁
Great music, great content - always fun and entertaining!
Great video guys, don't forget to mention the effect of gravity in these situations. throwing uphill against gravity will slow the disc more, throwing downhill gravity might actually accelerate the disc causing it to appear understable
There was definitely plenty of room in this video for more explanation of the physics that causes disks to behave more or less stable at different terrain angles.
@@brentkelly9864 So at least part of the reason for increased or decreased stability is because of the increase or decrease of the speed of the disc because of gravity?
yaaaay they are baaaack
Haha you got that one? /Jonathan
@@Latitude64 took me few tries to pause at the right moment but let me say 0,25x speed was a big helper. :D But the sounds....THE SOOOOUNDS!!!! 😨😀
BTW: those metal samples for titles, are you buying them or do you make them yourself? they cool! 🖤
@@jaccob73 , and . can be used to go frame by frame :)
@@Johnny-xu7kb wow! Never heard of that! Thx!
@@jaccob73 np! though you of course miss the added comedy value of listening to slowed down audio.... ie drunken disc golf ;)
This is a video I didn’t know I needed. I’ve always struggled a little with hills going up and never understood why until now. Keep up the great work!
These videos are great. Just seeing a new one appear in the UA-cam makes me smile. And the music rocks. 🔥
Thank you so much ❤
STROKE THE BOARD!!! helpfull videos guys!
Watching Jonathan feels like Borat learning to play disc golf lol. I think that is why these videos are so addicting
I love you guys! Y'all have so much fun! Glad to be able to enjoy it with ya! Keep up the great work! Can't get enough!
Haven't seen a Latitude 64 video in a while. This was very good, the quality has gone up a fair bit :)
Hey :) made a shorter one the other day. We actually moved offices so there's been some stuff that had to be done with that. But there's videos coming for sure 😀 /Jonathan
Yay! Jonathan and Toom....... Johannes. Love the start of that video! Great advice and excellent tips. Thank you for sharing!
enjoyed! Thanks Jonanth and Johannes!
It must be a Jonathan thing! I can never remember if I want an over stable or under stable disc. Maybe after this vid I’ll figure it out 😁
I bought a Fuse because of you Jonathan. I am also a new discer...it's fun learning with you!!
Hey man. That's awesome. Hope you'll enjoy the disc. Have a great day 🤘❤ /Jonathan
I love this one. thanks.
This is such an amazing channel. I feel like saying that after every video. Awesome work Jonathan, Johannes, Lat64!

Cheers, Jonathan! :) /Jonathan
Jonathan, you are too funny. “Throw uphill, just skip it.”🤣 I love your videos my friend!
Thanks a lot :). Have a great day! /Jonathan
The one thing that stands out to me to question is that when throwing uphill, you 'hopefully' are keeping the nose angle down. The disc (and your hands) path is still a straight line with the nose of the disc angled down relative to that path. The path just starts at a lower point and ends higher. If you get the nose up relative to that pull path, you'll get a floating and stalling flight rather than a drilling fast flight, but going uphill.
In fact, one video I watched said that to get the nose down, start lower on your backswing.
I have a very short hole that is down hill with a low ceiling. On this hole I start high on my backswing and try to "air skip" the disc under the branches. The high backswing gets the nose up.
Totally correct, the flatness is always relative to the flight path needed, and not earths gravity. / Johannes
been waiting on a new video. you guys are my favs
When throwing up hill I always remember Paul McBeth's advice on footing which is basically to come into your walk up at a steeper angle then the normal straight line to help keep your body alignment. Seems to work out for me on most throws.
Do you have a video? Or could you be more descriptive?
what does "come into your walk up at a steeper angle" mean?
@@davelopez9161 instead of coming in straight behind the disc, come in from an angle. That way, the approach isn't so up and down. It makes footing, and the approach, much easier.
Do you mean off the teepad or on the ground ?
@@philgoska2570 not from the teepad, as most will be level, but just from your lie.
Ambitious distance on the placement of the basket on the ‘Extreme’ hill 💪 😂.
Hahaha yeah we realized that.
Love these videos!!
Was that a sewage pond that you threw into....? Donated disc I'm guessing. As always it is fun to see you and Johannes together. It looks like you have a blast making these videos. I can tell you that it's a blast watching them and bonus! I learned something too. Thanks guys.
I'd buy a stroke the board Fuse ngl! 😁
Thank you, great tips I wish I knew 10 years ago
That was fun and educational. I hope you get your disc back.
Thank you. Haha nope it was a goner from the get go.
the theatrics are awesome!!!
My home course has a lot of uphill shots with tree lines on the sides, so you really have to be able to land in a small area on the hill or at the top of the hill. I've found myself reaching for something stable or even slightly overstable (buzzz or roc3) but throwing it very hard on anhyzer. It fights out of the anhyzer by the time it crests the hill and lands fairly flat. Not ideal for uphill distance, but seems better for uphill precision.
Great video! Also thanks Johnathan for joining my live not too long ago!
Bahahaha - STROKE THE BOARD!
You guys are 100% enjoyable!
I love the edit I'm laughing my ass of and learning :D
I´m glad you like it. I enjoy the editing a lot :) /Jonathan
I followed your advice. I skipped all uphill holes and my score got better. Thanks
Stroke the board!!🤣

You guys are hilarious! Great tips too. Thanks!
You guys are awesome, informative and f’n hilarious!! Keep it up 👍🏼
Thanks man! /Jonathan
Great video as usual, love your humour and clarity. Do you have a link for the outro music please?
Awesome video guys! However I *really* don't agree with throwing faster discs uphill simply because it "plays longer" yet I see great players on video doing it all the time (especially at DGLO on the Toboggan course), there are certainly times when smashing the fastest disc you have is appropriate and depending on the wind and whatever else you have to deal with other than the hillside it might be the right choice but if you have an uphill tunnelshot I prefer a disc I can rely on to land flat so depending on the slope I go either gobi or fuse (I did have a patrol for uphill hyzerflips a few years ago but I gave it away to help promote our sport, more people need to know about it... especially those that do yoga or have picnics right next to a basket).
Agreed, the common advice for uphill (especially when walk-ups/run-ups aren't doable) is to go for slower US discs to be better able to get the discs up to speed.
Awesome just what i need !
nice one again
Love your content. Keep up the good work.
Lol love it
Listen to August Burns Red!
Another great one Jonathan!
Cheers, Markus :)
@@Latitude64 A video suggestion maybe: Finding the right bag as in "how many discs do I really need". I'm by no means super advanced but I can't help thinking that for most people it might be good to throw fewer moles and rather keep a few duplicates. Might be an interesting video to hear from some of your pro team.
Tackar. Ni fyller i roliga saker. Nu är olika vindriktning.
He learned you good!
Didnt they have a course in around that ski slope back in 2012 ? Short holes and one where you could throw a pure quite far downhill :)
Laughing so hard. Hilarious, thanks!
Hey, fun video, quite helpful! Fun to see that the "extreme party" was on Vitberget. I've heard that the Latitude 64 factory is moving from Hedensbyn, where are you guys moving to?
Sneaky Thomas is telling me to stroke the board on this one. 😂
You guys wanna make a video on like a gym routine for the off season? So much snow over here that even if I played with ribbons taped to my discs, I still wouldn't be able to find them. BUT would still like to improve my form and overall physique.
Maybe someone like Silver Lätt or Kristin could help you with the exercises.
Thanks for the idea. This is sort of kinda maybe in the making. Haven´t decided yet :) /Jonathan

Stroke The Board
Something you didn't mention about throwing downhill.. Just like when you when you talk about disc'ing up for speed throwing up, you can disc down for speed when throwing downhill. You don't need to throw a speedy disc to throw far if you have a lot of air to work with, you need to throw a disc with a lot of GLIDE. This is typically a putter! There is something magical about watching a putter glide forever, slowly downhill. It will take long to reach its target ofc, but luckily this is not a metric that carries any punishment in discgolf. In my experience, throwing the distance driver downhill will cause it to zoom to the ground fast, or drop out of the sky. Because it is very very hard to get the perfect nose angle on the disc, because it has to match the speed perfectly. If you throw a putter slightly downwards and hard and flat, it wont care as much, it will just glide... and because it doesn't need a lot of speed to maintain its flight, it goes further.
Rest in peace, Rive.
EXTREMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
guess I'll be going up then. pew pew pew!
I personally throw a 13 speed driver about 200 feet with a 20 mph tailwind. My midrange go about 175 feet max. My putters go about 150 feet on a good day . At 20 feet I’m about 2 out of 10 if I get to warm up first . A. Year ago I used to suck real bad .
We have the hill that's... perfectly adequate. It's been told by several people that it's "a good size."
Jonathan, did you swim to get your disc back ?
Haha no it was a goner.
Great. How about throwing uphill while on the uphill slope?
Maybe we should have included it in the video :)
Maybe that could be a future video. :)
It could be about all kinds of footing. Uphill downhill, muddy, leaning to the side, short, standstill because of obstructions.
STROKE THE BOARD!! HAHAH Whens Tomas coming back?
The reservoir has a massive Rive contamination.
hollllllllllllllllllllld up... Is the intro slide (0:20) to this video a spoof on the Playstation 2 game, Downhill Domination? Or am I reaching haha?
Fighting against gravity. It helps to have more glide as well as understability, the fade of a disc is the response of the disc wanting to return to the ground. Gravity is what pulls objects to the source of the gravitic pull. Downhill, I like to throw stable due to the energetic acceleration of the gravity pulling the disc downwards.
I agree, extremely understable molds also push the nose down as they turn so grabbing a -3 midrange uphill and hyzerflipping it will actually help it stay in the air a bit longer at the end.
Are you guys tracking me? Was searching youtube for uphill shots yesterday 😅
What's the name of the city at the extreme down hill slope?
Great video as always, makes me giggle every time, do you know when opto gladiators or lucid defenders will restock?
Hey :). Sorry don´t know anything about that I´m afraid.
I hope next video is about saving private Rive…
😂🤘
whats the brand of the drone you used at the end?
Dji =)
Johannes' last name translates to Highhill so I feel like he came into this with an advantage
#stroketheboard
You know I have tried all of this when throwing up hill or down hill. Only works here and there. Has nothing to do with operator malfunction!!!! Lol
Jonathan? How much more fun is throwing down hill vs uphill???
what is the music?
4:40 XD
i have a question.... are you really throwing nose up every time you throw uphill ? I thought nose up means when the angle of the disc is tilted upwards in relation of the direction of the throw. At least Danny Lindahl explained it that way in one of his videos if i remember correctly
I would agree, nose up is in relation to the line of the throw. The understable discs help because gravity is slowing down the speed a lot quicker going up hill so to counter act the early fade you use something more understable that can go straighter for longer.
My understanding is that you're correct. However, when throwing uphill, the bottom of the flight plate is exposed, similarly to a nose up level throw. I think in throwing uphill, it's a combination of the exposure of the flight plate as well as gravity wanting to slow the disc down. Both issues will cause the disc to slow down in it's flight more as compared to a level throw of the same disc/power, and that lends itself to the disc acting more stable than it's flight numbers would suggest.
Putter down hill?
Need an ID on Johannes' pants
Most of our clothing is from a brand called Revolution Race :)
stroke the board? haha Jonathan needs a signature disc before i waste my money on things like food and rent
😂🤘
The heck does "stroke the board" mean?
Here´s the beginning of that saying:
ua-cam.com/video/btkV2QgA0gw/v-deo.html
Once you picked up the Rive I knew that you would regret it in a couple of seconds.
Awesome video! interesting how discs behave more overstable uphill and understable downhill. Also put more metal riffs in the videos ;)
Don't mind if I do 🤘
I ate a cookie anyway.
: )
Haha there it is!
I disagree with the discussion of throwing uphill with regards to nose angle. When throwing uphill, you are not trying to change the nose angle. Nose angle is always relative to the disc's line of flight. So throwing up hill is not throwing "nose up." You should still be throwing a mid or a driver flat or slightly nose-down relative to the line up the hill. Additionally, the disc does not act more overstable because it is nose up, but it acts more overstable because gravity is slowing down the disc with greater effect than a flat throw. So that is why the disc is more overstable.
But the best advice is at the end... skip throwing uphill. Just throw downhill... and enjoy the view!
Thanks for the input, Callaway :) /Jonathan
That poor rive. never stood a chance.
