    I would like to say that two weeks ago your channel 'violated' my homepage by popping up randomly. But I am a simple human being.... I see something new and I click to watch it. A few weeks have past and now I am knees deep into this disc golf thing without ever having thrown a disc properly. All because of that charismatic bald head of yours! I even ordered my own startersset and tomorrow I will attempt to not suck at a course for the first time. Thanks a lot or tack!

      @@johnshepherd6925 My sincere story is that I rolled into it by watching some regular golf challenges. Another sport that I have never played. But disc golf seemed to click with me. Also because my dog is a huge fan of throwing a frisbee around. So after watching some videos about techniques I tried them out and my dog was very happy to retrieve every attempt. And I had heared of it before but I did not know that the sport had a big following online and in my country (the netherlands). But there are more than a dozen courses within driving distance 👍

Tracing the disc path with a bright lint on the screen was very helpful, as well as the really clear descriptions. Thanks for this.

    I'm honestly impressed a player as new as Jonathan can actually throw a 13 speed and get it to flip. Wow.

    • @Nykken777
      @Nykken777 3 роки тому

      I have a bolt, it has the rim width of a 13 speed, but i feel like it behaves like an 8 or 9 speed, if i don't limit myself quite a bit it turns over, even on a steep hyzer angle. And no, I don't have a super powerful arm, I generally don't throw any higher than 10 speeds, because I don't feel like I have the power to go any higher.
      My favorite disc is discmanias FD which is a 7 speed, but I can put way more power on that disc than the Bolt

    • @pandawarriah
      @pandawarriah 3 роки тому

      I started in april and I use a bolt in this fashion too, even though I can only throw like 70-80 meters o.O

    • @Nykken777
      @Nykken777 3 роки тому +1

      @@pandawarriah haha, yeah. 70 - 80 meters is not bad after just a few months though!
      Isn't speed supposed to give you an indication of how much power you have to use, to get your disc to its potetial?
      I don't think casual players are supposed to be able to over-torque a 13 speed 😆 doesn't really matter all that much though, I use it like I use my 8 - 9 speeds anyway, but I don't agree with the speed rating on that thing

    • @pandawarriah
      @pandawarriah 3 роки тому

      @@Nykken777 i feel exactly the same way. I bought a ballista and have a rive too and when I throw those they behave just as you would expect when not having enough power. Probably because of the -2 turn. Jade and a westside hatchet are my favorites for distance rn

    • @Nykken777
      @Nykken777 3 роки тому

      @@pandawarriah I haven't tried either of those yet, but i have a tendency to go down in speed and hyzerflip understable discs, so the hatchet looks right up my alley. If you haven't tried discmanias FD yet, you're missing out, I would be completely useless without it, hard to come by these days though

    A few things:
    I am essentially a beginner so it’s nice to have relatable perspective on the hyzer flip.
    Johannes’ pants are dope and I’d like to know where I can get a pair like them because the vegetation in the courses of my part of the US sucks.

    So, I’m new to disc golf, and by new I mean that I’ve only watched people playing it on UA-cam for the past two weeks. But as a ball golfer for many years, I already know that I like the exercise of getting a small sports object to a target in as few shots as possible. So, question is for anyone willing to talk to me like I’m stupid, what’s the best way to approach getting into it as far as purchasing the discs? All the names of the discs are hard to make sense of.
    BTW, these videos have been the most helpful that I’ve found, so thanks!

    • @tomt760
      @tomt760 Рік тому

      What helped me. Is look up disc golf stores in your area. A locally owned one is best and tell them you're new. Ask them what discs would work best for you. I started out with one River he recommended for a couple weeks for all around. Then I kept going in and asking questions. That easy. He gave some lessons too
