Which one surprised you the most?
I had no idea that the RED could film in 8k and create a 2k proxy at the same time. Very cool!
You could argue that the the proxie generation feature is a but if a moot point. While I understand the convince of using it if you already have a red camera, With the money you'd save on an alternative camera you could buy a PC powerful enough to edit 8k raw footage without proxies or create proxies in a relatively short amount of time.
the fact that you got your red in 6 months...
Compression ratio
what software you use for post ?
Wow the production quality is amazing. I love your confidence in everything you're saying. Definitely subscribed! Looking forward to more of your content
informative 10mins of great camera system.
Nice video. But you should add as Number 11 the ability to shoot in HDRx. It’s a great feature that increases dynamic range by up to 6 stops beyond the camera’s original 16.5stops. You will use twice as much memory, but on a super bright day you’ll see the birds chirping outside that window behind you’re talent.
just say subject
Bro I love your channel you inspire me a lot and have gained much in it.
Wow, I'm impressed. You really know what you are talking about. It's obvious you use this camera A LOT and you know the intricacies of it in daily use. Yor presentation is dense, smooth, focussed, succinct and well structured. You don't let yourself get sidetracked, you know what you want to say, you cut out the gibberisch and you get to the point and keep the language and explanations real. If only all vloggers took a masterclass with you on how to create well-explaining videos!
So much insightful knowledge you gave me. The way of giving presentation is fabulous. Subscribed your channel dear. Btw You deserve 5 million subscriber for sure 👍
Loved this bro🔥💯😎
more resolution does not mean better low light - it is only when you shoot low resolution on a high resolution sensor does you low light performance get worse, normally more resolution is worse low light as the physical pixels are smaller, it is just better compared to photo cameras because they aren't using the entire surface area of the sensor.
Great video Nick, the best part about your videos is that you have something unique to offer, always wondered why filmmakers choose the red to shoot. I kinda didn't understand the compression ratio part, how is it calculated?
let’s get this to 150 likes! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Nick!
Nice! I'm just glad my $1250 camera can do most of these things. Haha jk I understand your reasoning. 😁
Proxy sounds awesome thanks! I’ll definitely join your course about production company
Since I found out about using proxy I shoot all my videos in 4K now
Awesome video well done 💯
Nice video man...
Hi,
Nice video 👍
For slow motion at 1080 what FPS are possible?
Thanks
great vidoe thanks
Glad I found your channel as I’m in the market for a red
Which type of red cameras you looking for ?
Ur underated😣 so underated get him to 1 million or more!
great insight! 🎬👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 quick question, but what is the mic that you are using in your video 😁 it sounds amazing XD !
Thanks! It’s the shure sm7b
I have a Red Dragon-X and didn't know we could shoot proxies all along!
Yes ! How are you getting on with the Editing now ! You must be producing a lot of content at a fast rate now!
Plus the color siance of the RED is sooooo good. Don't forget you can use lenses, and shoot raw!
So, I saw that the Red Raven got discontinued. Should I find a different RED camera to get? That's the only one I could afford (and the Komodo isn't really impressing me)
In 2:35 how can i remove this red sensor points ? Thanks!
I want this camera so bad 😭
I bought a used RED RAVEN to test the RED waters and it just BLEW MY MIND! Amazing cameras!
The RED KOMODO look so promising for lower budget filmmakers like myself.
What about renting ?
2k proxy is insane nd tq from sharing the stuff dude
RED has 13 EV in normal mode and it's written officially in their website, 16 EV or more you can take only in HDRx mode but it's trouble mode. Different speed of shutter angle is a pain in the ass when some objects move and you take great dynamic range but also terrible ghosting. Only one brand at the moment who have more regular DR than 13 is Arri (14) and they use DPO technology ) in nearly future Canon will bring this too C line (now they introduce this in C300m3).
Red is awesome but not perfect yet. I w8 for dscm3 generation with Ursa Mini Pro g2 (awesome camera too btw like a little bit cut Dragon 6k ;) )
Which steadicam you use?
I looking for my set (5-6 kg/11-13 lbs) something with good stabilization but I tried Crane 3s and I back it back to shop after 2 warranty service. Can you recommend something analog and not expesnsive like ronin2 with Vario 5?
what software you use for post ?
Nick, If you dont mind me pointing out , I see a lot of wierd artifacts in the video , On the Dark grey sofa, right between your right shoulder and the white pillow .. Is that a codec issue thats used to render out this video ?
Himalaya Kilaru yeah there’s been this weird glitch between space and time there. It almost sucked in my dog 😬 haha just kidding. I don’t have a dog 😉 but yeah thanks for pointing that out! It’s probably UA-cam’s compression.
Can o have variable frame rate on the Komodo?
Checkout Blackmagic cameras. Have all the same features except with all the IO modules of RED built in. Also it doesn’t shoot proxies... but everything else is there for 1/5 the price. Can get the Pocket cams too and get almost all the same value for 1/20 or 1/40 the price... just slightly less dynamic range
Great video. Your Kit link seems way out of date though, no RED gear on it at all.
you promise video about how you got your red dragon nick
I have buy the Dragon-X Kit and Upgrade it of Gemini.
This way is cheeper than to buy a gemini regular. :D
🙌
My bmpcc4k or even the 6k can do almost all of this, plus its a ton cheaper. Other than the framerate and 8k any reason you didn't want to go with a black magic camera?
Erik Werlin color science and dynamic range are the deal breakers for me. After editing RED footage for 6 years it would be so hard to go back to anything else
@@AeviumFilms That's understandable to a degree. While I agree the dynamic range is a bit better on the red I think the color science of blackmagic is just as good. To each their own. Maybe one day I can afford a red. I just started my own video company after 10 years in the industry so hopefully, I'll get there soon. Keep up the great work!
Wasnt that Parker Walbeck up there at your course page?!
Johncon yep! I built the course with him.
i think i am a little bit of a nerd i knew all of them! 😂
this raw is so epic like his name
I was surprised at how much chromatic aberration I get when I first started shooting on a red. Got used to my in-camera processing.
Really? what RED where you shooting on? and what bit rate?
@@SIMPLIFIEDFILMING ca has nothing to do with bitrate. Monstro, scarlet and Gemini
@@wildwedding OK apparently I have a lot to learn. I just know a lot of people talk about chromatic aberration being a problem with it right.
@@wildwedding chromatic aberration comes from the lens tape not the sensor. I just googled it and learned that.
Nice OLPF... 2:35
and 6:00
Color science is amazing...
ARRI: Hold my Beer
😂 😂 😂
jean Louis Goddard ,La nouvelle vague french filmmaker, said that you can shoot a movie with any camera.
WE just hit 151 I think there'll be a new video #cheers
God, are you seeing this, when, when God?
Arri colors look better
