Yes you can wash your costumes even with things glued onto them. Contact glue is not water soluble and Eva foam can get wet without any problems.
We recommend doing a hand wash and then letting it air dry. We have washed a few costumes with this method and had no problems :3
I have always wondered how people wash cosplays with glue, you guys are geniuses!
Dumb question: Does hand washing maintain vibrancy of the fabrics colors too even if it is washer safe? I have a cosplay I made and it looked like the pink desaturated a bit.
Make sense?
This is going to be so helpful for my Star guardian ahri cosplay and idolm@ster cosplays
Glad it's going to be useful for you! Good luck with your cosplays!
Kinpatsu Cosplay where do you get your wigs from?
Girl thank u so much for sharing, i was sewing on my gold trim like it was bias tape, which took forever but this is faster lol
If all else fails - contact glue XD hahaha we are glad we could help!
Kinpatsu Cosplay I really need wigs and I am a bout to get one tho.PS, where do you get your wigs from?

3:46-3:50 woowww I super love this tip!!!
Damn it looks so snazzy and clean, and as an added bonus it can be a good way to add a bit of ridgedness to the cosplay (something I struggle with a lot haha)
Gracias!!! 💕🌸✨🙌🏼
Necesitaba este tutorial uwu
u are my queen.
Suuper helpful tipes!! ❤️❤️
When you wash your costumes there are any problems with the EVA foam or the contact glue?
So far we havent had any problems and we have used it on about 6 costumes which we washed a few times! :3 we wash them by hand since most of our costumes are fairly delicate anyway and then just let it air dry! The contact glue isn't water soluble so it works pretty well! :3
@@KinpatsuCosplay Wouldn't Velcro have been an idea to fix that? I think you can also wash it in the washing machine.
🤔
@@Cijala that's a lot of Velcro! and then it may also not sit perfectly on your costume. But if anyone prefers to do it that way that's fine too! :3 it's all just about personal preference and this just works for us but if people wanna change it up that's fine too 😁
But even if my costumes didn't have Eva foam on them I wouldn't wash them in a machine either, I just don't trust it to not damage my fabric or the sewing XD
Next video idea; shapewear maybe? :P
This is something I really want to do!! 😁 And all kinds of shape wear including chest binding and even padding for muscles and stuff! Cosplay shapewear is so versatile!
Ah Geez that'd be so helpful for a dress I'm making but it still needs to maintain a bit of flexibility and I'm just not sure if this would work... But I'm feeling strangely optimistic about it! Here's to hoping, I'll come back and update if/when it worked!
i know you posted this such a long time ago, but please tell me if it worked for you :)
@@liovanacapello5535 I unfortunately didn't end up making the cosplay, fell into a bit of a crafting slump and realized I wasn't really feeling this dress in particular. But I did use a similar method for the collar and that worked perfectly. So I say go for it!
AHHHHHHHHHH XAYAH STAR GUARDIAN
Ahh thank you! Also you just keep looking like a sister of battle or Sally Whitemane every day xD
Gurl that HAIR
Thank you!!! :D We chopped it all off XD
@@KinpatsuCosplay IT LOOKS SO GOOD! the colour is perfect and that cut is so sharp!
this is so cool, but how do you wash/clean your costumes?
Can do video on cosplay fabric?
You know what? I'm doing Sailor senshis tiaras with this technique :3
Star guardian Xayah❤️
Asddfghh quedo taaaan geniaaaalll 💜💜💜 el mio lo hice similar pero sin goma eva para poderlo guardar bien xDd no quedo tan liso y limpio uwU
Hello your tutorials are really helpful 😍
Can I know where do you buy your gold fabric please ? 😊
Great job with the outfit! How did you create the green star gem in the centre of the chest, out of curiosity?
watching it now i seen that on the Facebook link
What gold fabric is that/where did you get it?? It's beautiful!!!
uh it would be helpful for my star guardian ahri cosplay! ❤️🦊thanks for share this tipps! but where is that golden fabric from? I don't find any of this 😩
Thanks so much for this tip. I recently wanted to start cosplaying myself but I had no idea on how to attach the gold edges without it looking bad. Also do you do any Undertale cosplays, cause I really want to cosplay as Frisk but I have no idea on how to make the pattern of her jersey (frisk is gender less, but I like to think of them as a girl) . If you don't know what undertale is that's fine, again thanks for the tip, stay safe during these times.
what kind of fabric e u using?
I've always disliked how cheap costumes use a very itchy material to do the gold edging. This is a much better method :) What fabric did you use for the dress? It looks super comfortable
How do you wash the costume? 😮
You can just wash it by hand so nothing gets damaged! :3 we normally wash most of our costumes by hand anyway! I'm too scared to put them in a washing machine 😱
fire emblem cosplayer here taking notes
Im just curious how do you wash this costume?
I bought an aether cosplay recently. It’s ok, but the gold is foam covered in fine gold glitter, which I DESPISE, which was rubbing off. I will be replacing it eventually or just making a new one on my own, so this should help.
How did you make that jar plus brush combo for contact glue?
how do you wash cosplays that you have glued?
looks so perfect qwq but isn't it also possible to just paint the foam golden? i just can't find any golden fabric
can you use contact adhesive instead of spray edhesive?
How do you wash this kind of cosplay?
Thank you Kinpatsu for this video! One question: How do you wash this costume with the EVA pieces?
We recommend just washing them by hand and not in a machine :3
So clean looking! Do you have any issues with bending or moving when wearing the costume? (I know that you were using a thin foam here but it's still much thicker than fabric after all)
Sometimes the pieces can create a little bit but they can normally be smoothed out again! Using spray adhesive to glue them on prevents this from happening too much though! But you can move and bend no problem otherwise! :3
Do you have a video on how to make Xayah's feet?
For your Star Guardian Ahri cosplay, how did you make the little wing/cape part?
i love you
question, what if i need to do a whole wave or several curves all in one piece? how do you exactly do it? all the same or you have to alternate?
Could you share a link of the fabric on amazon?
Is EVA foam the best choice or would this also be able to do on fabric?
I'm very much a beginner at making cosplays myself and I don't know what the limits of certain techniques are :'D
The cosplay I need this for requires me to put a golden edge on fabric and I definitely think EVA foam would work, I would like to use fabric to wrap it around the edge, rather than having it sit on the outside. I'm afraid it'll look too thick if I use foam (though I guess I could just get very thin sheets instead?)
what material/fabric is your dress made out of?
Can the fabric be glued to a 3D printed shape the same way you think? Would the same glue work?
What's the fabric called?
Can Eva foam be painted with acrylic paint? I’m trying to make star guardian orianna’s owl orb.
Kinpatsu you are amazing!! Did you create your own patter for your cosplay or was there a pre made pattern you used??? Im struggling and dont want to touch anything until i know what i need to do🥺🥺♥️♥️
We created our own pattern for it! :3 We also have the pattern we made available on our store, it includes patterns for the entire Star Guardian xayah cosplay! :3
@@KinpatsuCosplay Oh my gosh thank you!!!
What type of fabric is the gold you're using? I tend to have a hard time finding good gold fabrics
can you wash this?
What type of spray glue do you use? Will it effect the shine of the fabric?
If you spray the glue on the back of the fabric it won't effect the shine. The shine is only on the front which will be untouched :) we use Genkem or alcolin spray adhesive but I think any brand is fine :)
this is so helpful, thank you!!
if i may ask, how did you get the teal and pink pattern to be so clean at the end of the skirt? the cosplay i'm making has a few color changes like that, and i'm totally lost on how to do them :(
For this we used applique paper or heat transfer paper :3 so it's ironed on
@@KinpatsuCosplay OMG! as soon as i read that it just clicked, i don’t know why i never considered that!! you’re a lifesaver, thank you so much 🥺❤️
Yeah it looks good and all but how do you wash your costume now that you glued so much on it ?
You can wash it by hand, contact glue isn't water soluble so it won't come off. We have washed serval costumes like this in the past and they're all fine :3
Demetrius Leonard Farley by the way
Would you or anyone else recommend perhaps attaching it with Velcro do you can still wash the costume?
You can still wash it if it's glued on! :3 just maybe wash it by hand and not in the machine. We have washed many of our costumes with foam oh them this way without a problem! :3
Could I use craft foam
Yes you can, EVA foam and Craft foam are the same :)
Porfis hace un tutorial de como hacer el traje :"^

I am currently making a star guardian Xayah cosplay, and this really helped! However, is it better/possible to sew the gold fabric onto the individual pieces before sewing the whole thing? Or would you recommend this method?
Yes you can definitely sew them before constructing everything or you can stitch them down on top after you have sewn the costume too. Whatever works for you! :3
@@KinpatsuCosplay Thanks ! I just bought your guide too, looking forward to making it 😀
I was using this method for my SG Syndra but ran into a problem 🤔 the gold edging goes all the way around the waist. I made the top stretchy to slip it on, but now I can’t glue the edging on (it would restrict the stretch along the waist surely 🤔) in the end, I decided to just glue it just to the front. The waist part snaps into place with button snaps, but do you think there might have been a better solution?
Sewing stretch gold fabric instead is the only solution when stretch is needed.
I have a question:
If you add sewing lines at the end...why don't you just sew it on from the beginning?
Sewing the lines on is just a decorative touch and is really easy to do. Sewing it over fabric is a little harderand I'm not great at it. I always glue mine on :) so this is how I do it. But if others want to stitch it down they can do it from the start of they are confident with their sewing skills! :3
@@KinpatsuCosplay ah, ok thank you for the answer
I'm the first like 😂 yeeeeiiiih
Almost! :D
You kinda lowkey look like Ashe from Overwatch 👀
what is your accent? it sounds like almost Australian ish?
It's South African :)
