    wow this is amazing! I once tried making Luxanna Crownguard's staff but it didn't work out. I think this video helped me understand how to support and structure a prop better and the clay foam looks amazing! I'll definitely take a crack at it again. Love your builds!

    Oh, how I miss my old school She-Ra. A terrible confession: As a little gay boy in the mid-80's, I stole a She-Ra costume from the girl next door and kept it in a hiding place for those moments I thought I was alone enough to pull it out and be as fabulous as the Princess of Power.

      @@KinpatsuCosplay if you dont already, would you be willing to make an airbrush tutorial video? I also use Createx airbrush colors (Pearlized) and from how it looks, I seem to have same type of compressor as well.. as for airbrush model or quality, I got a really cheap Gravity feed one, but... for whatever reason ,I always have a tough time getting my paint to flow. I eventually get it *kind of* right after a while (sometimes hours) of adding water, unjamming it, reassembling, etc.. but I never quite know what I'm doing wrong.

      @@NikkeiZX The gold createx never sprays smoothy for me. It jams mine too all the time. Its just the thick metalic flakes getting stuck in the machine.

    Plastidip works better than PVA glue and takes less layers

    • @KinpatsuCosplay
      @KinpatsuCosplay  5 років тому +2

      This depends on what kind of finish you are going for :3 plastidip is great for very flexible durable items but you will never get a completely smooth finish and it often leaves a texture and can be hard to work with. Pva glue on the other hand does crack on items that get stressed a lot but we get a completely smooth plastic/metal finish with it as compared to plastidip :) so it's about personal preference and what kind of finish /purpose you are making a build for.

    I know they are a bit pricey, but has anyone used something like a Fein Multimaster or other oscillating tool on foam?
    They have blades and sanding heads with different profiles and might save some time and effort.

    Neat build!
    What do you like about wood glue as opposed to something like plastidip for sealing your foam? And do you use an enamel top coat or a clear impact resistant resin to increase the luster and protect your final paint job? What are your thoughts on vacuformed plastic or fiberglass resin shells for big fantasy weapon builds?

    • @KinpatsuCosplay
      @KinpatsuCosplay  5 років тому +1

      Plastidip can be lumpy and you dont get as smooth a texture as with woodglue. But its all personal preference. I dont use anything on top of it either just clear spraypaint.

    rather have plastic than foam. foam is good for little kids but plastic is way better for cosplay. I do cardboard versions held together by hot glue from the rear then you can vacuum form over the top of it. using that vacuum form you layer fiberglass mesh with glue inside of it to give it strength, you then merge the 2 sides together by using small strips of the fiberglass mesh and glue to join the 2 halves, trim the edges. spray paint the outside to add details, clear coat with a good acrylic clear spray... done.
