It's time to pay homage to the Blood God. Khorne Daemons are about to get a lot more fun with their new Codex so let's give them a paint job worth fighting over. I just posted a tutorial on painting up Skulltaker, using mostly contrast paints with a few tricks to get your Khorne collecting skulls very quickly! I'll be covering a few other Khorne models very soon, as well as adding to my 40k Chaos Daemon playlist where I already have a few Nurgle models lurking about.
Will you be picking up the new codex? Or fielding any Chaos Daemon army in particular?
As always if you have any questions, just drop them below and I'll get back to you!

That contrast + layering technique looks incredibly clean and can easily be stripped down or expanded if you want things done faster or want to take it further. It's very flexible too. We've seen it work on Marines, Eldar and even Daemons now.
Yes! It’s a great way to get all the early colours down quickly and as you said you can spend more time on the steps afterwards if you want for special characters etc, or just keep it simple! Glad you enjoyed the video!
i've painted for a long time, i really enjoy your tutorials, its what i would have wanted when i started 30 years ago. I can appreciate the creators that do very advanced techniques, but you make things seem very attainable, and much less intimidating. great job!
That is exactly why I started this channel! As much I love watching the competition level painters’ tutorials…I don’t always put into practice anything I’ve learnt from them because it’s not my style! I much prefer having a lot of models to play with and showing people that this hobby doesn’t have to be intimidating to newcomers! Plus with all the more detailed models coming out, even more experienced painters need some help keeping things simple and not getting put off by crazy looking new models! Really appreciate your comment man, makes what I do worth it!
Man so many people just go too crazy with the steps, you just make it easy. Thank you.
Thank you for that. Glad you like the videos.
@@MediocreHobbies I Finally durged up the motivation to get back into painting mini's. I want to slay my gray and while painting my Blood letters I was looking for some inspiration and found your video.
@@jeramyneeley3351 well I’m happy to hear your back in the hobby. I do hope you stick to and get some awesome hobby done.
Just dropping a comment and a like for the algorithm god. Great video, super helpful with my khorne model I’m working on
Aw thanks man, really appreciate hearing that!
I've had a few months break from the hobby. Watching you paint had reinthused me. Gonna grab some contrast paint. Cheers!
You just made my day, that’s great to hear man! The hardest part is picking up the brush again, here if you have any questions!
the paint job is bloody awesome. thank you for the guide shared.
Thanks so much, so glad you liked it! 😎
Knowing you sir this will be an absolute blast of a tutorial
Cheers as always dude.
Using the balthazar gold really worked over retributor
Ye for that khorne brace colour it works great.
Looks great. I picked up the old start collecting Khorne Daemons literally the day before they announced the new combat patrol, so I've got some khorne kids to paint. Planning on a small detachment to pair up with World Eaters. Was planning on picking up skulltaker and a bloodthirster, so im looking forward to that video.
Awesome dude. Ye you shouldn’t have to wait to long for it don’t worry.
I love this model
It’s a great model.
This looks great. Would love to see how you paint one of the bigger Khorne Demons.
A blood thirster will be soon don’t worry. All of the greater daemons will be soon actually so Joel you enjoy them.
I just ordered this model with some bloodcrushers 👀 gonna come in handy
Oh perfect timing then! Hope you enjoy!
Awesome video! I have a box of bloodletters, this scheme minus the armor could easily be applied to them right?
I can't wait for the other gods I hope when you get to Tzeentch that the changling might be one of the demons its a such a cool miniature. As always great video Andy :)
Thanks so much for watching man! Yes! You can definitely apply this scheme to Bloodletters, they would look great! Most of my schemes are able to be adapted for infantry or for generals, or in between!
I’ll see what I can do about the Changeling!
Appreciate the comment!
"I knew I wanted to do him" 🤣 Can relate
I knew someone would notice that phrasing damn it 😂😂
@@MediocreHobbies Love your channel btw! You make painting seem more chilled and less daunting.
@@TheLatestYouKnowWho that’s Great to hear pal.
Looks awesome. I find Khone to be my least favorite demons too, but you really made the Skulltaker pop.
Cheers pal.
“Measly bloodthirster”. Heh. I’m sure Khorne will be more than understanding about that little mistake
I…I’ll have to do something to make up for that 😅 😂. thanks for watching!
Are there any plans to do flesh hounds or a bloodthirster? You may have some me on some Khorne Daemons. 🤔
There are indeed. Need to get my grubby hands on the new combat patrol.
@Mediocre Hobbies Ahh, that's great news, I'm planning on making a 1K list out of the combat patrol and Skarbrand so that'll be a huge help. Looking forward to it. 👍
Hi there, just a quick question, would this technique be viable if I only had a Chaos black primer as opposed to the grey seer aswell? Or is it necessary?
Sorry I've just gotten recently into 40k and I'm still trying to learn this awesome hobby😅
No you need a light coloured spray. White or light grey to use the contrast paints. It won’t show up at all over black.
Could the highlights be done with the series d drybrushes?
I’m sure they could. Just need to do some cleanup on other areas after.
ive been painting my bloodletters with the blood angels red contrast and have noticed lots of little black splotches essentially from pooling on the model, is there a specific technique to avoid this? I watched you apply the blood angels red contrast and it looked like you did it with quite a loaded brush and it seemed to leave a nice finish.. not sure why i cant get that
You mite not be getting a solid enough base spray so some of the plastic is showing through. And the contrast on plastic will just pool.
Wait, he got a new model?! But... there was already a new model... f, im old. Thank you for the tutorial, im not a khornite but this is in fact useful for reds and blacks :D
Haha don’t worry, there’s new stuff all the time, you’re not that old! Glad you still enjoyed it anyway! And yes, you can easily apply it to things other than Khorne too, that red skin part will probably be handy for a lot of models!! Thanks for watching!
Now confession time....you have every army list in the 40K list don't you 😄
I can neither confirm or deny those allegations
Can we get belakor
Already done! ua-cam.com/video/xhV36iBCZcg/v-deo.html
Baal Red too bright?
Hmmmm im not sure. I shall have to test it.
