It sits as proof that you just cannot please everyone. If you take the time to do everything, people complain that your game is taking too long, if you compromise on things so you can ship a completed game within a decade (Bethesda registered "starfield" in 2013, and serious development started in 2015, so starfield is really only a couple years behind SC in dev time, and they started out with an engine that already did a large portion of what they needed it to). This is not directed at Morphologis... I`ve been looking around at how youtubers are dealing with their early access to the game provided by Bethesda. I`ve been using 4 different accounts to verify that many streamers are shadow banning comments that do not support Starfield. I wasn`t hugely surprised, but it`s still sad. If you really enjoy Starfield that`s absolutely fine, but streamers that are preventing others with deviating opinions from sharing them, have truly missed the point. What I do like about Morphologis is that he`s taken a lot of flak in the comments over the years, but have always taken them to the chin and remained gracious about it. That`s character!. If you say the game gives you goosebumbs, I believe you.
Seamless transitions would require a whole new engine, which Bethesda certainly didn't want to do. Right now, only Star citizen allows seamless flight between planets and space. Elite and No Man's chose to cleverly hide the loading between space and planet, rather than rework their game engines.
there are lots of re-used outpost assets, unfortunately. The diversity of planets, in terms of biomes... is not that great... none even have water. They show oceans if you look at them from space.. but you never see them on the ground, let alone lakes or rivers.
i cannot overstate how much production quality oozes out of your videos. i'm almost to the point where i'll consome any video you make, lol. that being said, this is easily one of my favorite reviews for Starfield out there. can't wait to see what else you create around this game. your content is what is singlehandedly building this community so thank you for the privilege of letting us view your creations.
I've tried watching some reviews since I'll be playing this weekend, yours is really really good, the best. Thank you, now I can fall asleep with a smile and hope my workday passes by quick, cheers! ❤
Top tip you can place items you find in your ship or anywhere, just drop the item, look at it, it will say press E to pick up, dont do this, HOLD E and move your mouse to pick it up, now you can use left or right mouse click to rotate and press shift to change the direction, then press E to place. 👍🏻
Thanks man, I re-recorded it 3 times, and afterword added numerous things that I discovered closer to posting. I said 20 hours in the game in the video, but as of the last bits I added, I was 40 hours in.
@@positronikiss with all the mods (xenomorph planet please) incoming on top of the already giant vanilla game, it will fill my gaming schedule for years, SC kinda fell off for me since 3.17 i don't really care that much about it, would be nice if it gets its act together until people are done playing Starfield, but i don't think that far ahead, Starfield is here NOW😊
You can flip and burn, sorta kinda. While flying hold RB/R1 and you can orient the ship independent of the direction of travel. When you release the button you will accelerate in whatever direction you are facing.
I played the game first few hours on premium release. Unfortunately all these reviewers are lying, they are afraid to lose this privilege of early access. [1] Game is not open world. It actually series or very small bubbles (locations) between each there is a loading screen. You will have following experience: you are in “space” - you can’t go anywhere, it’s a bubble with invisible walls. You land on planet - it’s a loading screen, location is a bubble with invisible walls. You enter city after landing - loading screen. You enter metro in city - loading screen. You enter building in city - loading screen. Locations are super small 50x50m. Each planet it actually two predefined small landing points. And you just jump (load) between them. [2] It’s not a space game. “Space” gameplay there is just filler between loading sequences. You cannot go anywhere in “space”. Ship movement and combat is horrible. Basically it’s arcade, which influence nothing. You cannot meet there random pirate or trader. It’s a bubble with invisible walls, nobody travels through, it’s just pre-put dull NPC there. Space gameplay is just a filler. [3] Story is naive, and stupid. Motivation of characters “just because”. Just “because” the guy gives you the ship, and just “because” constellation group accepts you in the group (while keeping “close/secret” in dialogues). If you prefer to lie to NPC, in few seconds in dialogue they act like they know the truth anyway… [4] FPS combat: you and NPC stand still 5m away and shoot 15 bullets at each other. NPC will miss 75% of them (regardless of how well hidden you are).
"everything I've wanted from a space game" ... you literally spend 98% of the time skipping space via a load screen, lol, but hey, "space game" ... what ever you say bro
@@rustyneedles3743 If playing a broken piece of crap alpha that's been in development for over 10 years and has close to zero actual content but seamless orbital transitons, go ahead. Whatever floats your boat, man.
@@justalex4214 so it seems your boat floats just fine on your comprehensive trash talk... and no i don't feel CIG should take notes, because i'm glad they not doing "another" little Starfield, those games can be always created by many, there is only one bigger game like SC in making
I got in around 7:30pm, and once I started I started gathering and gathering. Made a couple thousand from the items. Then the robot was like your insistence on taking up all manner of random items has caused you to be in discomfort. Lmao! So I gave him everything and started taking up more stuff. The game is huge, and I realised this when I was doing a side quest and needed a digipick. I looked around and realised I needed more loot. Love it!!! I crashed once as I did not upgrade graphics drivers, so not the fault of the game. It was seamless after that, and I can't wait to go explore.
Thank you for taking the time to review this. Brings back many memories playing Sundog on my old Atari PC way back in the day. Looking forward to seeing the Star Citizen mods for this. I want to fly a Constellation Aquila in this with full science labs and equipment on board.
This is possibly the best review of a game, period, let alone this game that I have seen so far. You have yourself a new sub, sir! Looking forward to more Starfield content!! Also, I'm definitely using your ship building videos as a guide when I get my hands on the game (I currently don't have a Series X, and my PC that I'm typing this comment on right now is a potato at modern games).
I fully understand why the team decided to have cut scenes as transitions / loading points for stuff and is doesn't bother me as much as it seems to others. However, I do have a question. Do the load times and transitions ever get boring or feel long? In the past Bethesda games like Skyrim and Fallout also contained load points similar to this game, and these points would start out as being hardly noticeable since you were just doing basic things like entering a building or new zone. However, after playing for about 2 or 3 hours the loading screens, in my opinion, would get kind of annoying and repetitive. In your personal opinion does Starfield have a similar issue or are the transitions and cut scenes fresh enough to keep the player entertained and engaged?
My feeling is that I spent a great deal more time in situe as opposed to traveling, plus the loading screens and travel time is extremely fast for me. Just a few seconds, maybe more, but then I'm playing on a high end PC. The reason is that the points of interest keep you there for a bit, looking about. That's me though, I'm interested in searching out what an area has to offer before moving on.
I've seen so many reviews that talk poorly about this game, but I specifically trust you. So if you feel like the game is unique and awe inspiring, then I feel like my expectations were met
One question, how do companion skills factor into gameplay? Can you send a companion to pick a lock, stealth kill an enemy, or craft stuff? Or do you need to do everything skillwise that you want to do?
Great review. Thanks Morph. Can't quite overcome my disappointment that it's not possible to land one's own ship - nor use atmospheric flying to explore.
14:20, regarding not being able to place loot items in the outpost: have you tried dropping the item first and then interacting with it in the build mode? That's how Fallout 4 was about placing loot items as decoration, if I'm remembering correctly.
Excellent first impressions and so awesome you got early access! It's already been said but definitely looking forward to more on Starfield...including Architect Reviews? 🙂
I'm sure we'll encounter save issues at the 100+ hours of playtime mark, but by that point the modders will be hooked and well motivated to find solutions. Hopefully Bethesda have a more stable foundation for saves as well. That potential annoyance aside, this exceeds my expectations set by FO4 and Skyrim.
Its the first time that i might wait for modders not because the game is broken or dull, but because if FO4 was an indication for me, even small mods/quality of life improvements nevermind conversions made the game a lot more interesting, so in this case i might wait for whats coming out before i start to play because i don't have the time to start a new game if the mod needs a fresh start😅
I'm so glad you got this opportunity, especially during the down period for SC content. I can't wait to see more videos from you on starfield when the NDA ends!
Hey Morph. If you drop an item from your inventory and hold E on it you can pick it up and place it in the world, including outposts and ships. It's not a great system because you can rotate a held item (which would make placing a buch easier) but you can finagle it if you try hard enough so you get something decent
I'm personally going in to this game not expecting it to be like Star Citizen and i think most people should. They've said time and time again that this isn't a space SIM its an RPG in space. and thats all im expecting. Super excited to jump in, in just a few hours
is it possible to turn off the "25/50/any exp gained" notification that is constantly in the way of shooting? edit: btw, congratulations on the your-1st-game-in-preview-reviewed milestone :) on that matter, it's a damned good one to boot! although, you already know that. it's thorough, and in your signature style: i love it!
I can see some SC fans lamenting the lack of bespoke ship designs, but I think having modular space ship designs suits their nasapunk aesthetic perfectly. Nearly everything we've sent to space in real life uses similar design concepts of modularity so you can have flexible ship/module designs that fit a variety of uses. It's very on flavor, even if it's not what we're used to in space games.
I just want to offer my congratulations to you morph! I hope you continue to grow your brand! Wish you luck on a prosperous future! LETS GET YOu to 500k SUBS
my xbox has been running the game flawlessly. Ive seen maybe half a dozen visual glitches that really didnt do anything permanent. Honestly, they kept their word, for a day 1 experience, Starfield is absolutely the most stable game theyve ever released. I see more problems with fallout 4 even as old as that game is.
I have subbed to you for years. I was sceptical about this game but i decided to get it and try to have an open mind due to this video. thank you for being in depth and clear.
Are you able to buy ships from say $40 to a few thousand dollars in RL $$? How about buying armor and weapons for RL $$ as well? Good review of the game.
You can actually employ newtonian flight physics by holding down the spacr bar while in flight or using the right bumper button on a controller. So you can flip and burn.
The fast traveling and cut scenes for so many parts of travel seem very immersion breaking. Its a bit disappointing as I was hoping for more seamless experience. That said I'm still looking forward to exploring what the game has to offer.
Ugh! I wish Starfield would be made available for us poor PS4 players. Sadly I don't think I can afford a high-spec enough PC either. But I look forward to any future videos you upload about the game! :-D
You didn't go off the beaten path. Bethesda is just very good at presenting the most interesting path and framing it as "side content". There's a reason Meridia's Beacon is "random loot" always placed early on in Skyrim.
You are wrong about “flipping and burning.” You absolutely can. There’s a button that toggles the maneuvering thrusters and you absolutely can flip around while your forward momentum carries you. I do it in combat all the time.
I watched the important part. The end. To save some surprises for myself... You took the words out of my mouth. Let's just enjoy the entertainment the way it was made.
Is it possible to walk far away from your ship while exploring a planet on foot, and then "call" your ship to your location rather than fast travelling back to it? That seems like it would be way better in terms of immersion. In terms of lore, it could either use its computer systems to take off and land next to you automatically, or you could leave Vasco or another crew member on board to pilot the ship to your location.
I've preordered the game and get it next week.. i watched about 20 secs of your review and stopped after you said it was great. Will return to your channel for Starfield content once I've played for a bit. Have loved your SC content in the past... But I'm having an SC holiday while they do very little.
Best review I've seen. Comprehensive, entertaining, honest and fair, while not being a downer (@LukeStephens). I'm so excited to play tonight. I know it's not Star Citizen, but I didn't expect it to be. It's a Bethesda RPG, and while it loses the continuity and seamlessness of SC or No Man's Sky, it gains a lot in turn. People had unrealistic expectations that it would be more seamless than advertised, and the console wars drama has been drowning real discussion. The game looks great, a solid 9/10. I can already tell that I'm going to love it.
Great review. Factual and objective, with the right amount of opinions. Can’t wait to get this game. I’ve held off getting an Xbox Series X for a long time- sure having RDR2 playing a better graphical / frame rate would be great, I don’t play video games like I did growing up. I’m also focused more on single player open world games. Skyrim, FO4, RDR2, and the occasional jump into Halo games- my (very original) Xbox One has proven a great console since the upgrade from the 360. I haven’t been given a good reason since launch of the new consoles to go immediately suck one up. This game will be the reason I move forward into gaming technology and I can’t wait to spend countless hours delving into the universe. It could t have come at a better time either with cold weather season right around the corner, and all my outside projects coming to a close. Thank you for the great review!

You mentioned shipwrecks and canyons. I hope there is a healthy dose of diversity when it comes to planetary landmarks
The early review thread on reddit is kinda sounding like a fair number of the planets are mediocre. But fingers crossed!
I've heard in a bit less rose tinted reviews that there's a lot of repeated ground locations
I hate using mods to fix games. But this is a game that with time will be incredible. It's already very good now.
there are lots of re-used outpost assets, unfortunately. The diversity of planets, in terms of biomes... is not that great... none even have water. They show oceans if you look at them from space.. but you never see them on the ground, let alone lakes or rivers.
Many poi are copypasted. But many aren't. Anyway I'm sure modders will solve that problem real fast
i cannot overstate how much production quality oozes out of your videos. i'm almost to the point where i'll consome any video you make, lol. that being said, this is easily one of my favorite reviews for Starfield out there. can't wait to see what else you create around this game.
your content is what is singlehandedly building this community so thank you for the privilege of letting us view your creations.
What an awesome to the point but also in depth review. Thanks Morph, looking forward to playing this soon
Morph I just want to say that I really appreciate your cinematic B-Roll shots
this video sold me. i just bought the premium edition. about to get dirty in the starfield verse right now
I've tried watching some reviews since I'll be playing this weekend, yours is really really good, the best.
1:30min in and I already have goosebumps. It's a torture that I have a deadline to work towards in the next few hours. So exciting!!!
There will be several moments like that, turn up your volume or wear a good headset. The music is INCREDIBLE.
Its a good game for sure but IMO the exploration is just not there and that's a shame considering the scope of 1000 planets
Awesome review morph. You absolutely smashed it. I'm super excited for Starfield now!
Great review mate. Clear, concise and very enjoyable to watch.
Thanks man, I re-recorded it 3 times, and afterword added numerous things that I discovered closer to posting. I said 20 hours in the game in the video, but as of the last bits I added, I was 40 hours in.
@@Morphologis Hey man, your dedication has not gone unnoticed. We appreciate the effort!
@@Morphologis honestly im just going to run this video muted in the background for that - (I don't want to know anything about the game)
This game looks like something fun to play while Star Citizen is being worked on :)
Lol
Star citizen was a fun thing to play while Starfield was being developed.
@@positronikiss with all the mods (xenomorph planet please) incoming on top of the already giant vanilla game, it will fill my gaming schedule for years, SC kinda fell off for me since 3.17 i don't really care that much about it, would be nice if it gets its act together until people are done playing Starfield, but i don't think that far ahead, Starfield is here NOW😊
Your content‘s quality is really ASTREIN! Thanks a lot Morph!
In space, you can flip and burn. If you hold space bar you go into Thruster mode which allows change of orientation separate from the flight path.
You can flip and burn, sorta kinda. While flying hold RB/R1 and you can orient the ship independent of the direction of travel. When you release the button you will accelerate in whatever direction you are facing.
Finally!! I have been waiting for this video for a week!
If you prefer to lie to NPC, in few seconds in dialogue they act like they know the truth anyway…
[4] FPS combat: you and NPC stand still 5m away and shoot 15 bullets at each other. NPC will miss 75% of them (regardless of how well hidden you are).
I am so ready to play when this unlocks in a few hours! This is really everything I've wanted from a space game and devs like CIG should take notes!
"everything I've wanted from a space game" ... you literally spend 98% of the time skipping space via a load screen, lol, but hey, "space game" ... what ever you say bro
This is what star citizen was suppose to be like before they add seamless traveling.
@@tallll70 look who's salty as hell, lol.
My man got a review copy, congrats! Loved watching the channel grow.
Thank you for taking the time to review this. Brings back many memories playing Sundog on my old Atari PC way back in the day. Looking forward to seeing the Star Citizen mods for this. I want to fly a Constellation Aquila in this with full science labs and equipment on board.
You got a review copy!!! There is nobody more qualified to talk about this game that you. So excited!
Just think. We all were primed to love Starfield because of the hell in Star citizen
I waited specifically for your video due to the posts on X and how you intended to provide your content. It was the worth the wait. Thank you.
Excellent thank you Morph, the widescreen is much appreciated also.
I get massive "The Expanse" vibes, very excited.
I noticed that when it said: is that Amos? In the character creation screen
that guy totally looks like Amos. I'm calling easter egg. @@marsbound88
Likewise was hyped for your review and hope for more of your excellent cinematography and close ups on this game
Cant wait for Morphologis to make architectual review for every ship
That truly special moment, only felt it in BioWare and Bethesda games. fallout 3, Dragon age, KOTOR 1-2, skyrim. And now Starfied
They ruin any and all stealth approaches. Bethesda didn’t really improve much from their earlier games.
very nice! how about a video or an architects review of the major cities of the game and vendors area that need a loading screen 😁
So nice to see this in a proper aspect ratio. Thanks M8
I have to say, the ost alone is amazing
I'm so glad you got this opportunity, especially during the down period for SC content. I can't wait to see more videos from you on starfield when the NDA ends!
Glad to hear about the lack of bugs. This will be my first Bethesda game and I’ve heard the stories
You've never tried Skyrim or any of the Fallouts?
Super excited to jump in, in just a few hours
is it possible to turn off the "25/50/any exp gained" notification that is constantly in the way of shooting?
edit: btw, congratulations on the your-1st-game-in-preview-reviewed milestone :)
on that matter, it's a damned good one to boot! although, you already know that.
it's thorough, and in your signature style: i love it!
When morph reviews it i know i’m in for a treat. Great story teller, keep up the good work brother
Great review. The first one I watched left me feeling a little underwhelmed, but yours has reaffirmed my interest in the game.
There's only a handful of you UA-camrs who give actual honest reviews Morph. And you are definitely one of those
Dude you have to build ships in this game, want to see how an Architect would build them :D
Coming soon! Working on that video now!
This game, makes appreciate what CIG is doing, every time I “get in my ship” reminds me of the 400i and how I can actually fly there.
Jesus, your reviews are out of this world (pun intended). I'd love to see you cover more games.
I have subbed to you for years. I was sceptical about this game but i decided to get it and try to have an open mind due to this video. thank you for being in depth and clear.
What are your thoughts on the game after 10 days?
The use of cut senses also helps with the issue of how to find the landing location at night.
Are you able to buy ships from say $40 to a few thousand dollars in RL $$? How about buying armor and weapons for RL $$ as well?
Good review of the game.
Thanks for the review Morph. Between this and Shack's vid, I'm seriously looking forward to the game.
Great video, mate. Architect reviews on ships, structures, and cities would be huuuge for your channel - Plenty of content there.
I heard some other reviewer had seen alot of repeated outposts and caves but hoping its just rare enough
Would absolutely love to see an architect review of some of the ships maybe even just some of the coolest part combinations
Ive watched dozens of reviews and this review was the most interesting
Ugh! I wish Starfield would be made available for us poor PS4 players. Sadly I don't think I can afford a high-spec enough PC either. But I look forward to any future videos you upload about the game! :-D
Great review. I'm looking forward to playing this this weekend.
12:18 OMG the staring npcs are hilarious👁👄👁
What did we expect? Fallout in space. What did we get? Fallout in space.
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing
Is LukeStephens a downer? I don't really follow him anymore, but I don't remember him being a cynic or hyper-critical of most things.
@@allthatisherehe isn't impressed with Starfield
I appreciate categorizing the different parts of the review.
Fantastic job on this video Morph, hope your well bud!
It looks okay. I'll probably wait for it to go on sale before buying.
You must have hammered through that to give such an in-depth appraisal. Wow!
