    Awesome video helped me a lot in the beginning. One tip... Just launder the stolen items. Removes the red tag. Take them to a trade facility and sell it to them and do not exit or back out. Just buy them back right away for the same price you sold them. It launders them and makes them clean. There was even a scene in the game where someone comments about the trade organization selling stolen property so its a Canon way to clean items.

    I dunno if someone's already said this, but remarking on your regrets about not ranking up the pilot skill- you can go to the flight simulator in Mast District (part of that faction quest) and redo it over and over to get your ship kill count up. Great guide, thanks!

      If you're doing this 1. Do not go past lv4 in the sim. Let yourself get wiped out aka the sim ship blown up at lv5. Then leave the sim and "try again." you can do this until you max the skill and as well use the process to get targeting maxed out too. To assure the most efficient use when you leave the simulator, just ignore the not there ... that way you can return as you like... you also can improve the test ship on the computer. When the simm starts, get up from the seat and go adjust the computer. Also the best way to get to much higher levels if you want to do the full faction quest

    • @rlindwal
      @rlindwal Рік тому

      @dayneh2 it's the faction quest line where you join UC Vanguard, I *think* it starts with Keeping the Peace, don't remember if that's a mission title you can see straight off or whether there's an activity listed to ask about the vanguard or what

    One random tip if you are struggling in ship combat change all our weapons to just one weapon. This way you can put all of your weapon energy into one weapon system instead of trying to seperate the energy into several weapon systems. This lets you in a way to punch above your level.

      Something that helps me is I disable my ships ballistic weapons and then split energy between lasers and missiles (because I have way, way too many missile racks ) I use the lasers to pop shields and then the missiles to tear down the hull.

      One thing that helped me is to have maxed power on shields when ever I am in combat. Then secondary priorties would be weapons then engines the one weapon type helps with this so that you can dedicate more power in other areas. Another thing is to consider your ship classes A,B, or C. Each ship has a certain playstyle that it fills. A being fighter, normally very fast and somewhat small. So try to put maneuver your enemy's. Then B class medium shields, medium maneuverability generally. C class is the largest ship class poor maneuverability but good shields. The best tactic for a c class ship is to tank shots and use turreted weapons to fire in your enemy's. Although this is just in my experience, and what I recommended is to find the ship class, and style you like, and experiment.

      If you’re using a controller, reverse the controls for the sticks. I had to switch left to right and right to left so it plays more like Battlefield. Although, still to this day, no game that incorporates flying has done controls like Ace Combat, which are the most ideal controls for flying.

      I found the game more entertaining the more you progress the main story quest, it opens the game even more and so much to do. The ease to get sidetrack is mind blowing to me and I have never spend more than 2 or 3 days playing any Bethesda game before give it a chance and play your way, game is amazing.

      @@bushmonster1702dude every single Bethesda game (including the ones that at the time got rave reviews) has had poor graphics, ridiculous amount of bugs, and other outdated mechanics at the time they came out. The fact that StarField has middling to decent graphics, very few bugs on actual release, faster loading screens, is a vast improvement over it’s previous releases. Every single complaint I heard about StarField is completely missing the point of what makes a great Bethesda game (and this game is the greatest in my opinion). The point being is that you are introduced into a vast story driven world (or galaxy) that is utterly filled with numerous opportunities, of which you are free to create your own path. If you are not really willing to take such a journey (and the 100s of hours that goes with it), than why are you even bothering to play a Bethesda game in the first place?

    Great info vid, well done.
    One trick for thoes with contraband.... just fly to your outpost and make a chest just for that. Then when you're up in commerce go on a special run to the Den in the Wolf system.
    You also if are going to do any crafting will want one for stolen items you craft with and one for weapons helmets ect you can modify. Any stolen item you modify looses the stolen tag and is ascwe worth more too

  • @jakeegarris
    @jakeegarris Рік тому +20

    Contraband can be taken and sold at The Den, in the Wolf system. They won't scan you prior to docking. You can also sell stolen items to Trade Authority, and then buy back for the same price you sold it, which will then remove the 'stolen' marker from the item. Helpful if you stole something that you want to keep

    I really appreciate the time you put into this. I’m only a few hours in and have enjoyed the game so far. The biggest issue I have is the lack of tutorials. For instance, the lock pick system. There were no explanations in game on how this worked. I found boxes before digipicks, and tried to open them for a few minutes before I realized what was needed. And then when I got one, it again took me a good bit of time to figure out how it worked. Several systems that you discussed here, I had no hint at them being available, like crew placement. I think they really dropped the ball here. So your video has been hugely helpful.

I saw a stream of someone who linked their extractor to storage and then storage to the structure that has incoming and outgoing storage on it that allows for access across multiple outposts. 24:43...Before I land on a civilized planet, I like to TRADE /SELL all my MISCELLENOUS stuff with other ships in orbit of planets...so my inventory is emptied, for other things when exploring the next planet.
    31:04..I don't have the Skill called *PERSUASION* ...but when I where a Clothing that has a bonus on "+5% Persuasion" , It does the job...
    I like wearing clothing that adds +5 to Carry load on my person
    34:07 ..when I score an illegal contraband...I always take it to the Wolf System = Den StarStation...and sell it to the Trade place there...
    I haven't found any other place that does this, yet...
    35:28...If you scan the resources of planets....you get a notepad for it...these sell for alot of money at different places.
    43:20...I've found alot of ship repair kits, when I am in a planets orbit and hail a ship and trade / buy *Ship Repair Kits*
    I haven't found a planet , yet, that sells these.

    You didn't mention Stealth!!
    It's important to unlock the stealth meter so you can even know if you're detected or not. Very important to know about!!
    Also Scavenging is particularly useful when you get into the NG+ aspect of the game, and a great thing to grab early.

    Some nice tips I hadn't realised, especially with the fast travel - I got early access so I have about 10 hours atm. Gopher tested the distance you could run from your ship and it worked out at 3km in any direction, so unless you move your ship, that's your lot!

  • @Fitzpa14
    @Fitzpa14 Рік тому +6

    Just so you know you can fight basically an unlimited amount of ships using the flight simulator used for the UC testing in New Atlantis. Destroying those simulated enemy ships count for challenges.

    • @sicecko
      @sicecko Рік тому +1

      That's amazing. Do you have to join vanguard to do it or anything?

    • @Fitzpa14
      @Fitzpa14 Рік тому +3

      @@sicecko you don’t have to. They have you use it for a test to get accepted into the UC. Once you complete the flight sim, you can come back and retake it as many times as you want.

    If you save 3 skill points you can max piloting on new atlantis in the pilot simulator. Start uc vanguard quest with tuala and at end of hallway is a flight simulator. Just keep goong in and killing ships and leaving before tier 6, then go back in, rinse and repeat, it also works if you save like 10 skill points and it can level any ship skill like shields, engines, ect

    Hey Lucky, been watching some of your Diablo videos and was pumped to see you putting out Starfield content. One major tip for you that might save your piloting error, I have not tested this but have with another companion skill so I think it will work here to, as long as you assign a companion to the right location his/her perk will light up, giving you the equivalent of having that perk unlocked. I believe it is Sam Coe that has four ranks in piloting so as long as you have him assigned to your ship, you should be able to pilot class c, I don't know how this will work with stealing ships, but it seems to work for his payload perk which gives 2 ranks equal to 20 percent increase in cargo capacity, which I can say with no points in payload my ship has 20 percent increased cargo. Like I said I haven't fully tested this so don't yell at me if this turns out to be false lol

    Subscriber from somw time ago here, and resident mailman in the comment section (though if other postal family is here hollar at your boy!)-
    And have this video on play now. Marked it as nessecary watching before I start my forat play through.
    Thank you for this. Need that knowledge, especially a masterpiece of this scale. Its near imperitive, unless you like going in blind. Im more of a one charector type player in these RPGs Bethesda makes, so it is solid to have this knowledge going in to not make mistakes as I atypically very rarely ever do a second charector (or have that kind of time either lol).
    This video needs way more love, it powers through in importance over reviews and opinions all day, as it is actuaply useful to not only brand new players- but on a game of this scale I am sure knowledge some may not have yet who already may be knee deep in the experience.
    Thank you again for your time and this video! I feel you deaerve to see it ia truly portant and a community service you have provided here.

    1:34:46 For piloting you can just use the simulator to get ship kills. It counts. It's located at the UC MAST building in New Atlantis on Jemison in the Alpha Centauri system.

    Really nice video, thank you for making it! It has tons of useful tips that I wasn't aware of, even after 35 hours of gameplay!
    I've appreciated very much when you repeat more times how to achieve certain things (for example when showing how to activate a mission or how to turn the flashlight off): you keep repeating the action so that it's doubtless how to achieve it: this is a technique that I use myself when coaching others and it's very useful to stress some fact.
    Thank you very much also for sharing your experience with the Piloting skill and that other one about ship upgrade, which I've also missed so far.
    My advice for your future videos is to avoid making first person video clips where you move your mouse (and thus the visual) way too fast and shaky: just to avoid hurt people with motion sickness. It's better to use, in my opinion, overlays to focus on what you want to highlight on video.
    From my 35 hours experience I can tell that, in my opinion, it's advisable to start invest experience points on different skills and make them grow all in once: focusing on just one single skill at a time and raise its rank to the top can be a mistake, because you find yourself doing actions (like destroying ships or planet surveying or lockpicking or killing enemies) loosing the benefits of leverage those actions to increase your rank on specific skills.
    Anyway I'm enjoying the game so far, I really like what Bethesda have created and will keep playing it for a long time.
    Thank you again for sharing this useful guide.
