Just so you know - nearly all of these things can be done in Empyrion Galactic Survival. Where Star Citizen does them for "real," EGS does them for "fake." That game has tons of planets, but they are an endless flat plane in a cylinder shape, not a "real" planet. That game lets you be a first person shooter, and a space flight game where you can walk around your ship internals for gunplay, too. You can even put small ships inside large ones! But any small ship you attach "becomes" part of the larger ship, and you can't put a small ship on the first small ship, and then put that in a bigger ship. If you haven't checked it out, it's a simple/mincrafty/arcade type game, where SC is a "simulator" type game, there's a lot of fun to be had in that game.

I think you hit the basics but need a part two!
Alien ships: There's a variety of exotic alien ships with different tecchnology and effects.
Missiles exist physically and are not magical. You see the missiles, and bombs load And launch.
Massive bomb explosions that would even impress the people of Fallout's Nuketown.
Food. We have food courts, bars, and food carts. Hell, in Pyro you can even eat space slugs and rats on a stick. Show them the cool holograms in the food courts on stations.
Drinks: Beer, whisky, sodas, water, juices and more. And drinking too much will get you drunk.
FOIP and VOIP: Not only voice but with a webcam you have your character move their mouths, express your emotions too.
Events like Jumptown: There's nothing quite like it in other space games because they usually can't support te pkayer counts.
Different flight models in atmosphere and space: You can feel the air as you go into a planet, light up on fire when you come in quickly into the atmosphere, and with the upcoming control surfaces this year you can even stall or glide (without using yoyr engine)
Ships are specialized: unlike Elite, ships resemble real world aircraft and ships. Where one ship can't do everything. It makes them feel unique and offers deeper, more variety of gameplay.
Tanks and anti-aircraft vehicles: How many space ganes have tanks? Seriously.
PES: Leaving an item on a planet means it wilk stay there.
Ship shows and other evebts: Try every ship in game in a car show for ships. Tour capital ships while the crew explain how stuff works on a military ship.
Weather: Snow storms, dust storms. The effect of snow melting on your visor is amzing.
Meducal issues: When you are wounded your character will limp, you can freeze to death, die of hunger, or thirst where you can see the efdects of things like dehydration, detached corneas, your characters shaking from being so cold, intoxication, drug abuse, overmedication, etc
Physicalized cargo and inventory: You can load up your cargo ship yourself, become a piate and steal their cargo. Different cargo for different items and dangerous cargo. You can even load a box in and store anything you want like weapins, space suits, etc
Modular ship components: physical, working components that can be removed and replaced. Even down to individual guns and missiles
Then, there's the multi-player. Elite Dangerous & No Man's Sky offer 32 people across an entire galaxy. Except on console where NMS can only do 4 players. How you gonna call yourself an MMO with 4 players? Or even 32 players. Right now we have 100, but are testing 400 player servers. And that is nothing. With server meshing per planet or more, we are looking at a thousand+ players. That's a thousand times more than Starfield's player count 😏 It is tech they will be testing this week. Include dynamic server meshing, it will be in tens of thousands. Despite being released for over a decade Elite Dangerous isn't even attemptung that.
And the stuff coming:
An entire story-driven cinematic single player game filled with star power that would make Netflix jealous. While it's a separate purchase now, early backers got both.
Interior gameplay including engineering, repairing components, re-routing power, life support controls, and putting out fires. And you know electronic warefare (hacking other ships) and decompression are coming. Soon we will have the joy of venting our crew out into space to put out a fire. Or getting sucked out into soace due to a massive hull breach
base building: Make your home yours. I know NMS and ithers have this. But how many space games also let you build on the wild frontier and defend it from other players. Or assemble an army to take another base?
In the end, it is not one of these things. It is that a game can do all of tese things and still be the best damn looking space game tere is.
Those are great categories. I actually recorded & edited a section for FOIP, but cut it.
Yeah, I think the game is great and all, but when people talk stuff no other games can do, you can generally do it in Empyrion, and it's all custom ahips

0 loading screens is just so wild, its so jarring going to another game even like Helldivers and have like 2 loading screens even if one is a drop pod animation and even more with confined play spaces.

Been playing off and on for ten years, but since 3.20 I've been really hooked, and want friends to play with me. It is still to early for that though and I've settled with joining a nice org.
Videos like this go a long way to show of the cool stuff in the game though, amazing job.
At this point I think I need to just let my friends discover the game themselves, be it through media outlets or Squadron 42 release.
2024 is looking to be an amazing year for the game, but 3.23 can't come soon enough, at least we have the overdrive event in the meantime.
Saw a thread on Reddit this week where someone is using the Starfarer as their daily driver. They put a Fury in back, and I think were looking to put in a ROC and either an STV or a Mule on the other side. NGL, I'm kind of jealous that you have managed to keep the Origin Celebration skin on your 300 series. My 325a was my second Kickstarter ship. Not needing two, I gave it to my son when he fell in love with it and wanted to join me in the 'verse. When he got a bit older, we sat down and redid the customization so that it would be _his_ 325a, and it's a really sweet-looking Ultramarine and carbon interceptor now. I rebuilt my classic Scarlet and Woodgrain 325a on an LTI token. We both have them fully customized. The Reclaimer is one of the ships that I'm most often on but will likely never own. I keep my fleet soloable, so I max out at my 600i Explorer and C2 Hercules. But the Reclaimer is a glorious ship when fully crewed. It is an entire world with everyone working together. It feels like a real ship, a real place and I jump in any time I have a friend looking for crew. I love my C8R too. I leaned in hard on the Ambulance vibe and went with the Code Blue paint and replaced the guns with Distortion Repeaters.
Super cool that you get to play with your son!
One of the side effects of the long dev time, is the multi generation space odyssey we get to have.

I regularly crew the starfarer as my home. If you take the tanks off and the rear tanks near the cargo ramp it can fit and carry a vulture or 2. I think im gonna try and fit an SRV under it so i can do a tow and refueling combo

"Making a vehicle Tur-Duck-In...." Priceless. I do remember the first time I put a vehicle inside a ship, inside a ship. It is indeed satisfying.
One of the best "space" games I played prior to Star Citizen was Sony's Jump To Lightspeed for Star Wars Galaxies. While mostly it as fighters, as you earned enough cred you could get one of the three multiplayer ships. The Decimator for the Imperials was my favorite. It could be crewed by 4 people. I actually see quite a bit of JTL in Star Citizen, but updated for modern times. Anyway, the Decimator had two turrets, and a co pilot seat who could launch missiles. As you rightly say, it was a game map that looked out on a bigger game map, but was really ahead of its time. Being able to move about the ship, do damage control, and, unlike SC, be able to decorate it like you would your land-based house, really made for some interesting modifications that players would make. You could also pvp, or pve against other ships within the giant 3D flight area you were in.
Logistics and planning will be everything in this game. The logistican in me is really looking forward to the spring and summer updates
You really nailed the feel of Star Citizen with this vid. There's simply no other title out there that does everything that SC does. Yes, it's still in Alpha and there are detractors who love to cry "SCAM!". Those people have zero idea of what it takes to develop and implement a game of this magnitude; they just love to naysay and be "armchair quarterbacks". Let 'em. When SC releases, it will have changed the landscape of MMO singlehandedly in a way that will revolutionize gaming. I'm on board for that.
Off topic for engagement but the 600 should have a Constellation like port for the 100 series.

I like the idea, but i think it would be more likely the uhhh...M50 i think it is? The little two seater that looks like a sports car from Origin. It doesn't really have a purpose right now, but it will fit easily in the landing bay of the 890 very well, and would be about the right size to ride under the 600.
@@zachhoefs9543 It would be awesome if they could weirdly do any of their 'cockpit' ships so you can have both and even the x85. I personally feel the M50 is a pretty good racing ship while the 100 series have 300 at the same price. It's got a cool AIR system that I feel is just being wasted so if they put it as an escape ship at least it has some purpose greater then stuck on the worst Origin ship lol

Star Citizen could expand on a lot of the concepts in a 2000 game called Beyond Good and Evil...One specific concept in that game, which could be expanded on in Star Citizen's science/research gameplay loop is the following: a mission objective to go take pictures of certain animals. This could allow for more items to be put in the game like cameras which could be part of a helmet or Mobiglas but also as separate units...even the sensor array/suite of a ship, which would be useful for the strategic/tactical management of large-scale battles, not just taking pictures of animals...but taking pictures of animals gives them an easy path to pursue that development.

This is a great clip! I enjoyed it. I agree with lots that you have to say. Loading screens for me have always been there. The problem with such though is when it happens 3-4 times in 5 min equaling 7 min from 2-3 min worth of loading screens!

I wouldn't hold my breath about the Constellation snub docking, it was fixed, broke again. My MFDs in the cockpit kept going blank also, unless you zoom in on them. Melted my phoenix for now until they finally decide to give the RSI flagships a bit of love.

Something I've noticed as a carrack owner is that unlike with the conny ships you can't request landing in the carrack.
If I were to leave a conny in the snub I can request docking to get back to the conny but with the carrack I just have to keep the hangar open or have a friend open it for me which is a shame.
Facts. But.. it's still cool that you can land on the Carrack outer deck. Would be a lil nicer if it had a hangar elevator like the 890
Hopfully when CIG finally adds material for ship hulls they will go reality and make ships like the 600i big shields but eggshell hull more about show than protection. Where as industrial ships should have heavy hulls and decent shields can take a hit do to the various enviroments they work in, but far less manuverable( i.e. if you fire at a yaht and a barge guess wihich one will take the hit and keep floating?). Milspec ships should have light weight hard materials and fast regen shields eat power like crazy. Stealth ships should have decent hulls made of reflective material that hides emissions.

Also the only space sim with Mimic loot chests,,,, at least I think thats what happens when I put a box down and die from it.

I guess that Star Wars: Galaxies was the first game to have flyable spaceships with interiors. In fact, they even had their version of the 890 Jump (Space Yacht) and the YT1300 looks very much like the Caterpillar without the cargo boxes (What the Millennium Falcon is).

when fire system is online and if fueling can catch fire... wonder if it would be possible to just fuel with nothing attached(dropping fuel) on say turrets or ground troops then someone firing at it to catch or blow up your target....

Elite Dangerous has ship launched fighters. Star Shitizen has bugs when trying to recover the fighter. Elite Dangerous has ship to ship refueling. Vehicle terducken has bugs that makes ships go boom. You can fly around a planet seamlessly in Elite Dangerous. Star Shitizen has loading screens but you're just not smart enough to see them. Star Shitizen does not allow you to freely fly around a planet or moon but you can do this in Elite Dangerous.

I really like how enthusiastic you are about the game, and agree with you that this game is special and really great.
But please, never throw in random movie spoilers again. We are here for Starfield, not for random "like when X died at the end of movie Y" off-hand remarks that add nothing to the video and have nothing to do with Star Citizen.
Those remarks/references have no value.
A movie may be old to you. But not to other people. I had planned to watch the Godfather trilogy very soon. Because of your pointless remark, I now know about the upcoming big hit, the escape to Italy, the fact that he got to Italy (rendering any preceding chase sequences totally unthrilling to me since I know he gets there), etc.
It added absolutely nothing to your video but ruined part of my enjoyment of those movies before I've even seen them.
I really just hope you think about that in the future.

I'm pretty sure there are loading / cell transitions all over the place; they just hide them really well - which obviously has succeeded as demonstrated by the fact that we talk about it this way.
Its called object container streaming by the dev team.
game looks great, but works horrible, everything is bugged, and i'm not talking about small little buggy things that you laugh at, i'm talking about game breaking bugs that makes your ship explode after you spent 2h shopping and filling it with cool plushies and gear. there are bugs in every little system that game offer, from elevators on station, guns, ships, to fueling, missions. and quite lot of those makes you waste way more time than you should. once i tried 3 different missions that all failed cause of the bugs. so the title "you can only do this in SC" i would say "you can only do this in SC.. most of the time" and really.. i do enjoy the game even with all those flaws. just think it would be more fair to mention it's far from well crafted
That comes and goes with the patch cycle. It's actually pretty stable right now and with the devs moving from S42 to SC I expect it will get better. But yeah, there will be bugs. If that's a deal breaker for you then, you do you I guess.
And yet...it's still way ahead of its so called peers & moving forward whilst they're filling up their goldfish bowls.
