    Since I expect it may come up somewhere in the comments...
    "112k in an hour, not bad" isn't trying to say that 112k is a large amount to earn in an hour (it definitely isn't!), it's just one of my quaint little British mutterings and mannerisms. This is just a gameplay video, not a guide, not a tutorial, and certainly not min-maxing. I had a nice time mining for an hour, and was comfortable with a small payoff for doing so. Not bad...
    Otherwise, enjoy! :D

      LoL, I was one of the the ones last time who mentioned the low pay outs, haha. So I'll keep quiet this time! You are absolutely correct, it's an enjoyable experience and you make a few space bucks at it... what could be better? One "slight" upgrade that makes the Prospector a little more profitable, is putting the Mole bags on the Prospector. ;o)

      The Vulture isn’t much use with the cargo exploit being abused right now. Too many people are making the RMC run and TDDs are always maxed out. Actually all cargo is screwed until they fix the bug. Prospector mining is the best chill alternative right now.

    Finally, a TRUE picture of what you`d earn mining with a Prospector. As a new player with just 200k of aUEC, I was looking at various youtube videos on how to make money with mining, and some heavily and falsely inflated claims in other UA-cam videos (anything between 200 - 600K per hours they said) led me to try mining with a rented Prospector... I could barely make 60k per hour since I had to sell ore instead of processing it because I dont have a ship to transport it and the time it takes. I wish I did come across this video 2 days ago. I might get back to mining when I can afford an upgraded Prospector of my own and a transport ship, but as of now, I need to pick up the speed at making money and a rented Prospector at 70k per day, was not efficient at all for me at this stage.

    • @sicecko
      @sicecko 27 днів тому +2

      I was about to be in a similar boat as you (started two weeks ago). One player in the game suggested I do a few of those 34k investigation missions to earn enough to rent the prospector. After you have done a few loads to refine, go back and do a few missions while waiting for the refinery to do its work. Then rent a cargo ship like the cutlass black or the relancer (I think it's called?) And use that rented ship to go out and sell your fully refined loads. With that loop you will be making enough to rent the prospector again for more loads. Also having the money to rent a bigger cargo ship to take and sell more loads at a time. After doing that loop a bit you will have enough to buy your mining ship or cargo ship.
      I'm doing it and am 3/4 to buying and upgrading a prospector before buying a bigger ship than my cutlass

    Pro tip: run your mining head at 100% and use the gimbal function to "feather" it on and off the rock your trying to bust when it gets into the green zone. To adjust effective power applied simply back off. You can actually bust gem rocks intended for hand or roc mining with the prospector at close to max distance and 1% power, again feathering off and on.

    • @sicecko
      @sicecko 27 днів тому

      Not arguing but not sure I understand the 100% trick when you can mouse wheel power up and down to find that sweet spot where it just stays in green?

    • @peter2liter
      @peter2liter 26 днів тому +1

      @@sicecko because the rocks that contain the good stuff are typically unstable, making it very difficult to keep the power in the green using mouse wheel adjustment without overheating and having the rock explode. It's just too slow. With the mining laser on the gimbal you just move the laser off the rock and keep the ship stationary when it starts to become unstable, That literally takes a split second, when the temp starts to drop, you can move it back on, again in less than a second.

    In 3.21 and 3.22 I've tried both mining (Prospector) and salvaging (Vulture), but personally I find mining with my Prospector just much more FUN to do. The searching for ore containing rocks, the scanning, the excitement when you find good stuff in a rock that is small enough to break, the extracting of the goods and returning home with the bags full with a decent percentage of good ores. Then going to the Refinery and sending in the ores for refinement, to collect them after they've finished, and finally selling the refined ores at a TDD or CBD. It's a really nice game loop and personally for me, much more fulfilling than salvaging in the Vulture.

    First of, thanks alot for your relaxing videos. Keep it up!
    Alot of ppl will value the uec/hour above gameplay and therefor prefer to molo (solo in the mole) or are salvaging currently.
    For me the gameloops tied to mining are very pleasing to do and i will come back to it no matter what.
    You will start to see ppl come back to it when the mining missions will be released and there will be more profit in it.

      Welcome to the verse! Honestly, mining in a ROC can be just as rewarding as mining in a Prospector. Once you get to the point where you can rent a Cutty Black and an ROC, if you haven't already, you'll quickly make enough aUEC to rent a Prospector. I own both and still routinely take the ROC out. It's a pretty good way to have some relaxing time in game and still have at least a little something to show for it at the end of the day.

    The reason why the Prospector is more comfortable to use than the Mole is because of all these annoying animations where the game takes away control from the player character for several seconds each time, multiplied by xx to xxx times per play session. It's one of the great gameplay flaws of Star Citizen and CiG has not understood this flaw yet. Taking away player control (ESPECIALLY in an MMO) = bad! And it's done very often in SC: get in/out of a seat, climb in/out of a fighter, climb up/down a ladder etc.

And if I'm lucky after 30 or so minutes and get an "unknown" off in the distance, when I hit the ping again, it vanishes, never to return. I spent 1.5 hours last night searching multiple moons and found not a single thing to mine. I tried gem mining with my Roc and Freelancer, and still nothing pinged. There are! It's a little counter intuitive, but the mining career path typically starts with investigation contracts that take you to a cave. Make sure you have a multi-tool with mining attachment and that you're wearing at least the Aril Core and associated backpack so you have enough storage space. You're really only taking the investigation to find the cave. Once in, look for rocks with purple gems. Take out the multi-tool and ADS to scan it. If it's Hadanite, break the rock and pick up the gems. Once your backpack is full, head to an Admin office to sell them.
