***READ*** please watch the “I used melanin haircare for 1 month” video to get my UPDATED opinion on the line. After testing it out for a month, I had a much better experience and felt differently about some of the products.
I love her products and I’m so glad she created a line because they are light and doesn’t weigh my hair down. I’m just happy to support her
Just a suggestion. Put a plastic cap on after the leave-in so it can soak in with body heat, or sit under the dryer. Also the shampoo is a clarifying Jamaican black soap, so it’s better to deep condition after it. You can use the melanin conditioner for that also.
Yes ! I made a follow up video and after playing around with it I found out how to make it work for my hair and absolutely love each products now lol
Because the shampoo strips your hair, you most definitely have to deep conditioning right after you clarify.
I loved the review!! Maybe adding more water before layering the products would resolve the residue!

If low porosity the buttercreme is probably not best as its really thick. I use alot on my crown but less in other areas as I'm high porosity in my crown and medium to low porosity everywhere else
Right?! I was like sis… where is the spray bottle… it’s DRY because there was little to no water in the hair… if I did that my hair would be dry too… I say user error.
Ive been using the leave in and styling creme for a while, but today was the first time ive used the soap. For me, the soap was moisturizing but i only applied some to my scalp and let the rest run down my hair like the bottle says. Watching you apply it i definitely felt like you used way more than i did. Ive had some residue when i use too much leave in. It's definitely been an interesting balancing act. Sometimes i feel like i need to use tons for any moisture, sometimes it's the best my hair has EVER looked with just a bit.
Yeah I made an update video and pretty much figured out how to use it to my liking. I never had flakes again after the first time, and I continue to have bomb twist outs because of the products. The shampoo is still drying, but I still like to use something like that once a month or so.. so overall I love everything now, just took some trial and error lol
From the beginning of this video, I could tell that your hairstyle was gonna come out flaky. You used way too much shampoo especially when it's a clarifying shampoo and then you didn't deep condition with the leave-in conditioner afterwards, leading to dry hair. You then proceed to put too much of the leave-in conditioner which would cause buildup. Lastly, Naptural85 always said in her videos to only use a little bit of the cream and leave-in conditioners she makes so of course it flaked. But I'm glad you didn't give up and figured out what works best for you❤️

This is my first time going on to your channel. Thank you for your honesty. I did feel like you might have used to much product. Can you please do a video using less product that way we can see if it does better; also can we hear what you think about it after watching other UA-camrs review? Please.
Yay welcome! And of course 😌 & my hair soaks up a lot of product so I always tend to use more because my current hair products do not flake. However, the second time I used it, I used less of the cream and I did not have any flaking. I used it 3 times and the last two times my hair did not flake.

Do you think maybe because the shampoo is so potent that you used too much shampoo and that’s why your hair wasn’t feeling as soft? I just got the whole line waiting for all my hair to be loose before I try it.
Wow alot of flakes. I have to use more water when applying the conditioner so it would feel soft and moisturized, I prefer it as a DC. And I use alot less of the buttercreme and really warm it up in my hand b4 putting it on my hair so it absorbs better. That makes all the difference. I had no flakes and I have a combination of all porosity (low, medium, & high)
Completely agree with this comment ! I actually played around with the products for a month, and never had any flakes again after that first time using it. 😌

Thanks for the review. I was wondering if you condition (deep or rinse out) after washing and before styling with the leave in?
Thank you ! & I didn’t deep condition with the leave in. The second time I used it though, I put it in my hair in the shower right after shampooing and then continued to shower. My hair felt better compared to when I used it after I got out of the shower when I did it that way. I can tell it would be great if I used it as a deep conditioner with a cap!

I see white drying looking residue so you definitely used too much but overall it’s beautiful and perhaps a little water on your hands into your hair then pat dry with the T-shirt may resolve that

you should take this video down now that you realize you did everything wrong and none of those is your opinion anymore, this can be misleading to someone looking to you for a review of the product when the products aren't how you set them up to be like in this video
