I truly wish more people understood how IMPOSSIBLE it is for women’s small independent businesses to compete w/ larger businesses, chain stores or Amazon.
There is no cost of business larger businesses, chain stores or Amazon don’t CRUSH small biz. They can buy way more raw ingredients, at better prices. They pay less to store it, and they get special shipping discounts. They receive tax breaks that small businesses don’t get & pay no to low taxes.
I support small businesses as often as I can, and I personally, don’t expect a ‘better’ price. I expect a better outcome for my community & that is where the REAL value is. Thanks again, Faye💐

I just used this shampoo, like I’m deep conditioning and typing at the same time. Faye you aren’t lying THIS IS A CLARIFYING SHAMPOO. PLEASE PRE-POO, which I didn’t do, or deep condition twice , like I’m going to do, one with steam/ heat. I also did a 2nd wash with a moisturizing shampoo. I will use it when I have a lot of build-up or itchy scalp when I need a detox. I love her conditioner and oil also so I won’t order just 1 product at a time. Shipping is free if you spend $45. The price of the individual products compared to the OZ you get and Great Ingredients you get is worth it.
Honestly I feel the price is extremely fair. And yeahhhhh whenever I use this I’m pre-pooing first!
@Angela Lee I used the shampoo for the first time yesterday too and it did not strip my hair at all. I used it on soaking wet hair and only used a little bit of product, and just like Faye I did a second wash because I loved the tingling feeling on my scalp 🥰 By the time I was done my scalp felt so fresh and my hair clean and moisturized at the same time. If I gotta go in with a moisturizing shampoo and deep condition twice after using a shampoo it is not for me because that’s way too much work and don’t nobody got time for that 🤣

I did love how my scalp felt afterwards. And I used a deep conditioner as a washout, then deep conditioner with steam to replace my moisture. I use Her conditioner as a leave-in. My curls popped.
I didn't prepoo and felt like it clarified tf out of my hair! but it wasn't a bad feeling. It actually left my hair with an oily residue so I know she put oils in it. And then I put the leave in and my hair felt fine. Then after I got out the shower I didn't need to put oil or anything in my hair. It feels moisturized and good. I feel like it's more of a scalp treatment. I'd use this on my scalp and something else on my strands.
IMO, it is very comparative to other companies. Instead of eight ounces, she is selling a 16oz bottle of shampoo. I round the price to $20 in addition to $10 for S&H. Depending on th company I pay a little over $15 for a eight ounce bottle of shampoo! I never bought from Whitney yet, but if you buy more than one product you might be saving.

Yes, I order multiple products to stock up and avoid the shipping. I love the cream and the oil. And if I'm not buying much from her line, I ask my sis if she needs anything before I place my order. Also, when you look at cost per ounce $20/16oz is $1.25/1oz. Which is great when compared to Patterns $20/9.8oz which is about $2.04/1oz. Also, Melanin Hair Care is especially worth the dollars if you have thick and or long hair or multiple people in your family who can use. You get a lot of oz for your money, and a little goes a long way, which is great for all hair lengths and density. So if you can invest in something that works for you it's worth it. I haven't bought another styling cream since I bought Melanin hair cream and oil over a year ago.

This is what I call a first wash shampoo. I use it first to get my hair clean, the. Use something more moisturizing in the second. It did make your hair look amazing!

Get the whole line works well with each other but don't use a different brand with this line won't get the best results use the same brand melanin products only. It's only 19.99 on Ulta website.
I got mine and love it! I clarify at least every 2 weeks, and this shampoo gets everything out with ONE shampoo. I then deep condition and then use the leave-in and oil. Love everything about that line.

I tried making my own when she started making her diy African black soap and it didn’t work out for me. So I will be buying this and I love me some tea tree oil. I add tea tree oil in my body wash and my old shampoo. Me and my son has eczema and it is amazing for us. I might buy her whole hair line for my nieces as gifts.

I'm embarrassed to say that I applied a clarifying shampoo to matted my hair and let me tell you my hair was so tangled.
Mind you this is the first time getting to know my natural hair. I've had straightening chemicals in my hair since I was 11.
I just said a prayer for all the strands of hair that was lost on that day 🙏. Smh. That sounds like it was a nightmare😲

Girlllll thank you so much for doing this review because I was on the fence on if I should purchase it. Something Whitney does though when she's washing her hair is she applies conditioner to her hair and then applies shampoo on the conditioner and then conditions again after washing it off. So maybe that's something to try to keep the hair from drying out. And girl I love your personality ❤❤❤

Faye In The City aloha gorgeous! This review was well thought out, detailed, and we love to see it!!!! We gotta give it to Whit, for the consistency of size, ingredients, performance, and packaging. I’m glad she made this shampoo, because a healthy scalp can produce more sebum, that the hair needs to really thrive. Because I’m very heavy handed with products, live Nyc and it’s pollution, and stress I need a cleansing and detoxifying shampoo. So I’m excited!!!

The shampoo clumped my curls so much ❤️ usually when I use clarifying shampoos my hair is kinda frizzy so I enjoyed the clumped curls (even though my hair was borderline stripped lol)
That lather was all I needed to see. That truly is a african black soap shampoo.

Whitney has a video and infographics online on how to make her DIY shampoo and while it doesn’t contain as many beneficial ingredients as the one she’s selling, I started purchasing some of the items needed to make it...I hit that $29 mark wayy before I finished purchasing them all. I’ve also paid close to this price for 8 oz. bottles (curl mix, etc.). To me, this shampoo is worth the price, but again, I hate paying shipping fees, so I’ll likely restock some of my favs to hit the free shipping threshold.

I LOVE MELANIN HAIRCARE! I bought the entire line from ULTA. My twist outs come out great every time and my hair is incredibly soft.
It’s the tingling feeling on the scalp for me 🤣 But seriously, I used the shampoo for the first time yesterday and loved it! My hair was clean and moisturized at the same time...I can’t explain it but the ingredients in the shampoo clarify your hair without stripping it. It’s like magic 🤣

I bought 1 scarf and 1 product for my free shipping my first time. I love her scarves. My mama tried to take mine so now when I reorder I will get my mom a scarf. If she starts adding new patterns and colors I might buy them also. It’s worth it to me. One scarf I use as a liner inside the hood and neckline of my coat. No more snagged hair for me.

I know it sounds odd, but moisture starts with a really clean hair. If you clean your hair well, the moisture from your products can penetrate better. With consistently washing and moisturizing every week, the moisture levels of your hair are boosted and you won’t experience dryness. When we keep putting moisturizing and oily products without deep cleansing, it makes our hair dry. Hope that makes sense.
@@p.w.2799 It can be clean with having to strip all your moisture. That's the issue. Some have a hard time getting moisture in. Constant stripping is not necessary
@@p.w.2799 I'm referring to my strands... when those are stripped its hard for me to train the moisture. I have no problem with my scalp. Its my strands so therefore I can't use a cleanser that seriously strips my strands.
Tamitria Walker Sorry, I should’ve phrased better. I meant scalp and strands overall need to be cleaned and then moisture re-added for the moisture of your hair to be constant. I edited my comment. But, you know your hair best so maybe moisture shampoos do well for you.
I think $20 for as many ounces as you get is a more than fair price. We stay buying from these other brands $15+ for 8oz. Best thing to do is buy the shampoo with something else to get free shipping. Great review. Can’t wait to try it.

I bought all 4 products from the line yesterday before my wash day! And BABY MY NEW FAVORITE LINE! Especially the black shampoo, it’s EVERYTHING, it’s like cleansing & moisturizing at the same time, I’m low po 4b/c also when using the conditioner & twisting cream a little goes a long way per sections!!!! 🤍🤍

I got it yesterday and washed my hair with my mom, my hair is sooo soft! And it smells so good like peppermint Christmas! I’m seeing if it worked for other people, to see what they think. I recommend this so much!

Clarifying shampoos will dry your hair so i always follow up with a moisturising shampoo for my second wash.
I might try the other products, because I have not liked african black soap I the past. I currently really like hydratherma naturals products. I get a good value out of them as well. However I am always interested in new masks and styling products.
