Elvis Presley made television and entertainment history with his Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii concert, performed at the Honolulu International Center Arena on January 14, 1973. It was beamed live via Globecam Satellite to various countries, on a delayed basis to approximately thirty European countries and it first aired in America that April 4th on NBC in edited form. The American broadcast version included four "insert" songs that were shot just after the concert. In all, the concert was seen in over forty countries by close to 1.5 billion people, a global ratings smash. Never before had one performer held the world's attention in such a way. Aloha from Hawaii presents Elvis Presley at the pinnacle of his superstardom, giving one of the most outstanding concert performances of his career.

I've recently come across a rare recording of Elvis playing and singing "Moon Light Sonata" in one of those rooms. The story goes; Elvis was heard singing with another person. When Elvis sang something, he sang it like if it was the last time singing it
It was never fair. The looks, the voice, the charm, the kindness, and ability to take a song and and put an emotion to it that he never wrote. The haters blast him for never writing his songs. Well, when you sing like this, every song you sing is like you wrote it. Hank was a legend, and I'm sure he would have approved of this version. Paul Simon said "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Elvis, was the version he liked and wished they could have done. He took another legends song and made it his as well. Frank Sinatra was synonymous with "My Way", and rightfully so. Both versions are legendary and different. Who would you rather hear sing it, Frank/Elvis? Or the writer, Paul Anka? Elvis lost himself in this song. Not quite like "If I Can Dream" , but he was in the moment. Today's singers can't sing with his emotion, they're too busy trying to do vocal runs and be all over the place. Elvis could have done that, but the song was message, not how many high notes and how many runs he could do.

The opening bass on Baby I don't Care was played by Elvis when his regular bass player was having difficulty with it. He played the guitar on Baby What Do You Want Me To Do in the 68 Comeback Special. He wasn't a virtuoso but he could play. His greatest instrument was his voice.
