Royal purple is the greatest oil I’ve used. Triple digit speeds are smooth, the oils additive package cleans up gunk and protects especially when you use a good filter. It appears to dissipate heat better than Mobil 1.

Been using RP for all my vehicles loving the results Ive been getting. More smoothness when idle or just driving, feels like the power has been brought back to my vehicle, Ive used Castrol GTX, Mobil 1, Pennzoil & I feel like nothing has done better then RP for my 2012 Ram 5.7L Hemi. I use to have a 2001 Ford Mustang 3.8L V6 5 speed manual that I bought from a friend he only trusted Pennzoil but not after I bought it from him & gave it the RP treatment. I remember him saying it was like it was a totally different car in how it ran from when he had it. Ive been using RP since I bought the mustang back in 2010. Unless they make an RP 2.0 oil I wont be switching back ever.

I inherited my mother's 98 Grand Am GT coupe back in '12. Only had 80k on it and it was still like new. Traveling 140 miles a day between Pa and Md for work it became my beater. Pennzoil Platinum immediately changed every 2k for first three changes. Blackstone lab sample at third change. Oil leaks riddled, then stopped. I switched to Amzoil 0w30 for winter. By 242k miles in early 2018 I decided to sell it. The V6 did not loose ANY oil in 5k mile intervals. NAPA or K&N filter always. According to final oil sample the motor showed no additional wear from beginning to end. I never drove before warmed up but, I was not easy on this car by any means. By that I'm saying... It saw 6k rpm pretty regularly maneuvering highway traffic average speeds 80-100 cruise. (Keeping up with traffic) I stayed with Pennzoil Platinum not because of price, rather the consensus by fact and lab report that Royal Purples OCI must be closer together because the additive package tends to fade faster and show wear sooner. OTOH, I've seen proof on a Modular 3v 4.6 treated to Royal Purple at 35k miles cams have no wear. As in ZERO. No silver on lobes... Nothing. Whereas another also with aftermarket cams running AMZOIL did and lobes were shiny like all cams should... so?!?

I drive a 2018 Ford fiesta...and the only oil I use is royal purple 5w20 paired with a Wix filter. The oil interval is every 10000 miles, buuut I change it every 3000 to 3500 miles. Iv taken the head and oil pan off multiple times (upgraded cams, valves and springs, also the oil pan when I upgraded the oil pump to a heavier duty oil pump. I have around 6000 miles on the cams and still the lobes look brand new. I know it's not alot of miles on them but the royal purple is worth the money in my book. Dropped all the oil drop out of an engine with 220k miles due to a plug falling out during rush hour traffic with royal purple in it. (my fault, got side tracked and didn't tighten it) Oil pressure light came on and I had no shoulder to pull off for 6-8 miles through interchanges. It would have been a bad day for everybody else if I stopped in the middle of the lane. Thought the engine was toast because I could hear the pistons making horrible sounds by the time I could shut it down. Slightly turned it over with the starter from time to time as it cooled down. Plugged the hole in the pan on the side of the road and filled it up with whatever I could get my hands on to drive it home.
It drove but decided that night I was going to sell it before it got worse. Depending on how bad it was I'd be selling it to a greasy used car lot or if it was mostly okay I'd sell it privately with disclosure. Did a leak down test and still had less than 15% loss on the valves and rings and all cyl lined up with each other. Put magnets on everything and cut all of the filters apart for 4 x 5k oil changes without metal flakes in anything. Even looked down a the walls with a scope and saw nothing. Its basically fine so I never ended up selling it. That was about 20k miles ago and since then I've rebuilt the whole front end. Whole car drives like it did when it was brand new.
I have no idea how that engine survived and I can't really say for sure it was due to RP. But that became a bit of a data point for me personally. I put it in everything now.

I have been using Royal Purple in my vehicles for 20 years. I do think it is one of the best on the market. I build my own engines for street use and performance upgrades for over 30 years. I get my oil tested by Blackstone Labs after every oil change for my vehicles. That is the only real way to know if the oil is protecting the engine. I would also recommend Royal Purple HPS series. It has all the good anti wear and lubricant additives that are stripped out due to the EPA in the API rated oils. I also think Mobil 1 is a good alternative to Royal Purple. I have had it tested with good results. I have never used Amsoil, so no real world experience with it. However, when I started using Royal Purple, Amsoil at the time was blocking 3rd party labs from testing and publishing the results. You could only get test results directly from Amsoil. Royal Purple allowed 3rd parties to test their lubricants and publish the results. That was one thing that caused me to choose RP over Amsoil. That was many years ago so they may be different today.

Once I bougth a old New Yorker, changed the oil, drove 100 miles and it was black, changed it again, went to 500 miles, black again, changed again..I'm guessing it looked like the ebay engine. Also, had an old 1953 packard and an old book on car care whcih said- warm engine, drop oil, run 10 weight (you could buy it on the shelf back inthe 80's, drop that and refill....after 2 min, that 10 weight was black

Started using amsoil engine flush every few oil changes and I have to admit it is cleaning the engine. Before using the flush I would go about 500 miles before the new oil would get dirty. Now it’s at least 1500 to 2k before I notice a color change. I use the same oil and same weight on every change as to be consistent. Oils do have detergents and some more than others.

Comparing 2 engines with different or unknown maintenance records is kinda not a comparison. Every oil has different additive packages. Choosing the right oil for it's additives will net you the results you are asking from that oil.
    examples:
If you need sludge and build up removal. You should choose an oil with higher levels of detergents. If you are breaking in an engine you should choose an oil with higher levels of Zinc. If you are daily driving your vehicle with moments of spirited driving. Choose a well balanced quality oil and change it at recommended intervals. If you are at the track or strip regularly, use high performance oils more resistant to thermal breakdown.
There is no miracle oil that does everything really good. The idea of using a high detergent oil to clean an (unknown maintenance schedule)high mileage engine for a short period of time is just good common sense. The oil condition gives you tons of information as to the condition of the engine. This is the 21st century. For a very small cost. You can have your oil analysed. This will tell you exactly how your oil and filter are performing. If you have bearing material, ring material, sleeve material, thermal breakdown, fuel, water, exhaust gas contamination... everything you need to know...
Relying on opinions about how oils perform in unknown conditions is just not effective. When you can get the facts from a simple oil sample when you change the oil.
