    That is one of the best oils out there. It wasn't the oil that damaged your engine it was the sludge.

    Dude, that is just awesome! I gotta say that I'm extremely happy that I made the switch to RP in my Challenger. I have not had any issues related to the oil or lubrication. I've since switched up to their HPS line, & man what a difference that made! The engine just revs much faster & smoother than ever! Their Synchro Max trans fluid did wonders for my manual transmission as well.

    I've heard this same testimony from another youtuber about royal purple, I use royal purple in my 2015 Toyota Tacoma for over a year now and never had a single problem with it! I change the oil every 10,000 and the oil stays at the exact level on the dipstick as the day I poured the oil in the engine, no oil burning whatsoever! The Tacoma has a 4.0 liter V6 in it, engine runs smooth and water temperature stays cooler than other oils in the motor! The truck has 49,000 miles on it, I plan on using royal purple 5W-30 oil in it for as long I own the truck! I hope I'm making a good decision doing this! I plan on driving the truck many years, at least for the next 10 years!

    You’re absolutely right, the sludge and varnish seeps into the seals, and once you put something in (most synthetic oil) it will remove the sludge and varnish, and in turn can dissolve parts of your seals creating leaks. Royal purple is fantastic, I use it in everything, all of my fluids are royal purple including my diff fluids. I love it. But it wasn’t without trial and error. My 97 Chevy started leaking like a dog stuck inside after switching. I had to replace the oil cooler lines and all that fun stuff because the royal purple are the sludge. But when you opened the oil cap you could look down under the valve cover and on this quarter million mile truck that had pennzoil run in it most of its life, the rockers and valve springs looked brand new, whereas they used to be covered in sandy looking sludge. Also I went from 11mpg to 15 in that old Z71 suburban. Well worth the extra cost.

    After I did my cam break-in with the Lunati break-in oil on my Lunati 10200701 hydraulic flat tappet cam in my 68 barracuda with a little 318, I only run Royal Purple HPS 20w50. I developed a rear mainseal leak due to the fact that the seal was forty-six or so years old and the old dino-oil sludge acted as a seal. The synthetic oil cleans out all that old sludge, as Casey's Garage discussed. The fault lies with dino-oil hiding, or covering up potential problems that need to be fixed anyways.
    I run a 195* thermostat to keep temps high enough to eliminate/evaporate the water that is a combustion byproduct and gets past the rings from building up in the pan. I do _NOT_ run an oil cooler for the engine.
    With my new 727 transmission, I run a B&M oil cooler, in addition to the cooling that is done by the radiator. I use Royal Purple ATF.
    The only reason that I'm using Lucas gear oil instead of Royal Purple in my Dana 60 is because it came from Strange with it.
    With my (new) 1991 360LA engine build, I will also be running Royal Purple, whether I go with a hydraulic roller cam, or a solid flat tappet cam. Keep your build clean, pay attention to clearances, seals, rings, torque specs, et cetera and you will be fine. Remember to use the appropriate oil for your cam.

    Im currently running RP oil in my 03 Sierra 4.8 and i believe its doing great despite just losing a quart after 800-900 miles but my truck does that to every oil brand i ever bought. I seen a video where a guy only replaced his oil every 500 miles for best results and performance. As of right now it'll need a change very soon then ill try that 500 mile change. Ur video has had me think otherwise about the product but the only oil leak problem i ever had was from a K&N oil filter

  • @44hawk28
    @44hawk28 6 років тому +3

    About 4 to 5 oz of Blue Devil seal conditioner / stop leak, along with a bottle of cd2 would have probably help the seals quite a bit and kept that motor running for as long as the motor would have liked to run. Remember the Blue Seal Oil Stop is very aggressive and has to be used any no more than a ounce per quart.

    • @caseysgarage5991
      @caseysgarage5991  6 років тому +1

      High mileage oil also has seal swelling agents to prevent leaks. As I said, that particular truck was an old farm truck, and it worked hard until the end of it's time. 200,000 miles is nothing to laugh at in those surcomstances. Thanks for watching

  • @TNsher776

    I think royal purple works best in engines with close tolerances in bearing and piston spaces! Due to the oil being so thin! If you have bad piston rings, you'll burn more oil with royal purple than other oils. May try using a thicker viscosity royal purple oil, like 10W-40 or 15W-50

  • @WISHBONEL7

As far as performance goes, I’ve never used anything other than Royal Purple so I wouldn’t know. What I will say is that I’ve got a lead foot, and the 305 my Elky had overheated and started the next day, and the 5.9 Magnum that my Ram has is reliable in every way except fuel efficiency. +Javier Sanchez the break in time for an engine is crucial to any vehicle, do not change your oil if you haven't finished the break in period. After you have finished the break in period, a synthetic oil that complies with your warranty will help you enjoy your new car for years to come. I would definitely check your owners manual for the additive pack that works with your warranty and see if royal purple is a match

    • @oldgriz816
      @oldgriz816 6 років тому +2

      Javier Sanchez , Royal Purple is the best thing you can use in a new engine.
      On an old engine, the worst it will do is reveal oil leaks that already existed. Engine maintenance neglect results in sludge deposits that slow leaks from old gaskets.
      It's the classic "you can pay me now, or pay me later".

      So false a wives tail no evidence to back it up. True synthetics break down buildup from use of conventional. This is why Amsoil stresses a engine flush before installing a 100% synthetic like Amsoil signature series. Unlike royal purple that is not 100% synthetic.

    My suggestion for owners of high mileage vehicles is that if you decide to use Royal Purple then after using it the first time you should change the oil again after 500 to 1,000 miles. Get the sludge and dirt that it has cleaned out of the engine and put fresh Royal Purple oil back in. High mileage oil has an additive that swells main seals to prevent leaks, if you're not noticing a leak, don't run high mileage, or you'll cause the problem you're trying to prevent. Thanks for watching!

    I've used royal purple twice, in my civic and BMW. Both cars run so smooth and so quiet. It kind of scares me when my engine is running bc it's so quiet that it me makes me think my engine is off. Engine will definitely feel it's running more freely with less resistance. I've used many different synthetics, and no one comes close. I can say it's the best oil I've experienced so far. The down side about royal purple is the price, too expensive !!

    Mobil 1, used it for years with no problems! I like how it's easy to find anywhere and for a great price. I've tried just about all brands of synthetics including Royal Purple but always kept coming back to Mobil 1 in the end. I did love how RP ran in my old '74 Monte Carlo with a 454 in it, though. I noticed the engine running smoother and picking up better on that oil. I miss that car, only had 76k original miles on it when I sold it and everything was still factory spec on it including the 8 track radio! Most comfortable highway car I've ever owned.

    Switching to synthetics from dino oil at high mileage is bad, need to use either consistently from about 30,000 on. 30k-60k(3 Years) is a good switching point any time beyond that you will have issues. Synthetics have higher detergents. So they will distroy any old seals and clean out varnish that my be keeping the seal from leaking.

    You are driving a car that uses conventional motor oil not Synthetic oil. I think what has happened is that the Synthetic has cleaned your engine really well,and now it is leaking oil,or burning it?
    I would use what the owners manual says to use. Probably a good 10-30wt oil will do.
    The engine in your car was designed to use conventional oil not Synthetic.

Changed out oil again with fresh RP, and a #KNoilfilter, oil was BLACKER THAN BLACK as it cleaned out sludge build up. This time I added a bottle of #STP High Milage oil treatment with STOP LEAK, zero issues going forwad.

      Having a protective film in case of emergency is a great thing, but keep in mind that engine oil does so much more than just lubricate. Engine oil is the first place that heat gets transferred to, and so running without engine oil will cause hot spots in the engine fast. Keep in mind that I am in no way recommending running an engine without oil, I'm saying that in the event of an oil leak, Royal Purple makes it so that you don't have to rebuild your engine. I want to make sure everyone understands that when you take an engine that may have not been properly maintained. Or only had conventional oil used in it. With synthetics and I can't stress this enough true all synthetic oil that's 100% synthetic. This oil removes varnish and sludge buildups and keeps it emulsified so that the filter can actually get pick it up but then it also reveals what the conventional oil did and that's premature wear out of your engine in respect to valve guides seats cam bearings crank bearings piston pins and the like. But true 100% synthetics like Amsoil have the highest film strength at 188,000 lbs per square inch. Above all other synthetic oils on the market. That film strength also helps fill the gaps in the wear out as long as it's not excessive. And remember your labeling of your oil if it says full synthetic that does not mean it's 100% synthetic. In the court case between Castrol and Mobil 1 the judge decided that any petroleum oil that contains a minimum of 25% the synthetic content can be labeled as a full synthetic. So unless the oil specifically says 100% synthetic or manufactured from group 4 or group 5 p a o or Esther's it's not 100% synthetic. So if you're going to pay the high dollar for the high quality synthetic oil you might as well go with the 100% true synthetic. Do your homework and don't be ignorant and just believe what a label says. The petroleum companies have been ripping consumers off for too many years don't let him do it to you. Also very important here Amsoil was the first true 100% synthetic oil certified by the American petroleum institute.

    Best advice that I could give anyone is to run Royal Purple or Mobil 1 oil in their car or truck depending on what kind of vehicle they have and only go 5,000 miles don't over do it buy going 15,000 miles because you will get engine sludge especially if you drive a lot in stop and go traffic and especially if you have a truck(Any Chevy 2001-2014 with a 5.3 or a 4.8 & Ram 2000-2016 1500 and up) change your oil more frequently it will save you money in the long run trust me i have a 2005 chevy tahoe LT 5.3 bought at 140,000 miles and only used mobile 1 but after ever oil change only running it about 2,800 miles it was 1qt always low and I know these types of chevy with higher miles are notorious for burning oil but for about a year this happened and 4 oil changes a year and I have no oil leaks what so ever and only driving it about 10,000 miles in the first year I purchase (Mobile 1 just didn't do well in my tahoe so I'm not knocking the brand down because I also have a 2006 lexus gs430 with 128,000 that I still use mobile 1 in) so then i switch to RP at the being of this year and I only do 2 oil changes a year now 2nd one I just did a week ago and noticed I'm not topping it off with oil like I did with mobile 1.. So again to me just put in your vehicle what you feel makes your car or truck run better just whatever you use make sure to check your oil level 1 time a month and change your oil more regularly then 10 and 15,000 with a vehicle with 90+ thousand miles if you want it to last and not have high repair cost.. Hope it helps

    I run a food truck and thought it would be great to test different oils on the generators. Royal purple was one of the longer lasting oils with minimal wear.... it had one side effect tho. On the intake side the engine squirts oil and royal purple seems to gel up. But from what I’ve seen it looks like most synthetics do. Castrol is another brand I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or use myself.
    I’ve used mobil 1 which was ok, minor sludge buildup
    Worst of the bunch is that motocraft oil. Engine ran only 2-300 hours and showed excessive wear on the pushrods and valves before it decided to self destruct.

    I love Royal Purple I've used all the popular synthetic oils Castrol Mobil 1 Etc. And let me tell you one thing I like about Royal Purple there's a little bit more performance not like you going to outrun a dragster but you can feel it at this nappiness of your engine. But the fuel mileage is increased not much but enough to say that you make a little bit of money back or saving in the fuel mileage. A long time ago when I found this video about a Harley engine and it did a comparison with a heat comparison and it dropped the heat 5% lesser than all other conventional synthetics.

      jerry waters how new was that Harley? The shop in my town will void my warranty if I use it, so I've been trying to find information. Thanks for watching!

      jerry waters .I used Mobil 1 on my 2000 Honda civic and my car was not only driving very smooth my mpg went from 28 to 30 mpg . I tried royal purple after that and my car was more noisy and my mpg went back to 28mpg. I just put valvoline full synthetic if I don't see no improvement I'm going back to Mobil 1 I guess some cars run better on certain oils.

    I am not a oil expert ! Royal purple formulated w 3x level of zinc and other chemicals level. Metals /bearing has tiny microscopic holes . The royal purple is fill these hole and bonds to them under extreme heat. This is my theory !

    • @caseysgarage5991
      @caseysgarage5991  5 років тому

      That's a really good theory, and testable too. All that would need to be done is to send a main bearing that has been in an engine with Royal purple in it to a lab with a microscope

      ZPPD destroys catalytic converters. You do not want to use an oil high in ZPPD (Zinc/Phosphorus) if you have a cat converter. You will be replacing it. High ZPPD is overkill for modern engines.

    I have always use Pennzoil since I was 16 years old I have never experienced an engine problem related to the lubricating oil I think a lot of the other products or just advertising hype these improvements and synthetics aren't really totally necessary unless you're driving a turbocharged or supercharged engine regular passenger car engine regular if you add a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil was it because that prevents sludge formation and clean the inside of the engine

    • @caseysgarage5991

      +Norman Heen anymore, no matter what engine oil you use, you should be using synthetic oil. Remember that engine tolerances are much tighter than they used to be, and compression ratio is higher even in a naturally asperated engine than before. Thanks for watching

      I usually run royal purple in everything besides my lawn mower. Only vehicle I didn't run rp in was my 84 Chevy dually with the 454. Reason being is that with the age of the engine and type I thought it would be best to try the Quaker State 50/50 recycled oil. Great oil in that engine but everything else gets rp because I've been using it almost 15 years and was getting 12k mile intervals years before it was advertised. I also use rp in my ar, makes cleanup a breeze and sucks the carbon of the metal

      I use the 15w40 in my marine diesel, the saber 80:1 in my weed eater, fuei effecint atf in my Tacoma 0w20 in my tacoma. I just wished they had an EA air filter for my Tacoma. Thier Altrum line is good also.

    • @caseysgarage5991
      @caseysgarage5991  6 років тому

      I highly doubt that the oil will ever give you any grief. Of course, as a dealer, I'm sure you're well aware of that. As for a filter, I would reccomend a K&N filter. However, if you don't like the idea of an oiled cotton filter, which not everyone likes because if the filter is over oiled, it could take out a MAF sensor, I would recommend a WIX filter

    • @caseysgarage5991
      @caseysgarage5991  6 років тому

      If you talk to Amsoil, it's possible that they could end up building an EA filter for your tacoma. in that case, WIX would be the cheaper alternative until they get your filter made

I've just switched to Magnatec from a normal run of the mill un-branded oil for 8 yrs which was fine and never no problems and serviced it yearly at 3.000 miles and this Magnatec stuff makes my car so quiet.It's unreal how silent and smooth it drives.I drive short distances on my 2002 Yaris (UK) with 87.000 miles and i'm sticking with it.There was normal light,v.quiet ticking and now it's halved it's unreal.
