- My wait is finally over. Today I got my Fantatec CSL DD. So its time to say goodbye to my trusty
Logitech G29 and say hello to my first Direct Drive wheelbase from Fanatec. Lets mount it to my
Simetik K2 rig and give it a spin Asseto Corsa.

You're much better, a lot more relatable than the other reviewers who just show themselves charging around a track (what can be learnt from that?). I especially liked your analysis while driving in first gear. Many tak!
thanks for your input mate👍 I have been sim racing for over 20 years back and forth. But never took the step up to some more high end gear until now. Such an awesome upgrade from my Logitech wheels (it's amazing how my old G25 still works actually, gonna give em credit for that)
Also a bunch of other reviews compare it to the DD1 and other more expensive wheels and as someone who is jumping from a g27 that perspective doesn’t do me any good. They all say it’s too weak and whatnot.

I've been using the 8nm now for a while. And yes I recomend it. Big increase in power. I'm more than happy with its performance 👍

It is still a 1200 bucks for the entire setup, but it’s still great

Finally! A review that doesn't want to sell me the "8nm boost kit"
I also pre ordered the CSL DD without the boost kit, plan to upgrade later on, I'm currently using the G29 with V3 pedals. I'm even more excited to get it now after watching your reaction! Great review!
Thanks. You gonna love the details and smothness. Don't expect much more power than the g29. But still lightyears better FFB 👍
I have also ordered my CSL DD and it's due to arrive on the 8th of November. My buddy whom I race with already got his, so I asked him if I could try it. He also ordered it without the boost kit initially, but soon decided to get it.
I tried it with and without the boost kit, and there actually is quite a big difference. You can feel quite a bit more detail in my opinion and you feel like you are more connected to the car.
I did some laps on both with and without the boost kit, and my lap times around the Nurburgring in the R8 GT3 were consistently half a tenth to a tenth quicker with the boost kit. That being said, it might only have been pure coincidence, but I just had a little bit more confidence with the boost kit.

I recently tested out this exact base+wheel combo at my friends house (both of us also came from a G29) and my reaction was pretty much the same as yours. This thing is absolutely glorious, but sadly shipping costs are too high for me.
Moza has often in normal stores. About the same price
Yea. The Moza lineup is really interesting. Whould be nice to try them out in the future. My girlfriend need to upgrade from her G29 (my old one 😅) so maybe that is an alternative. And aslo I can test it out 👍

Thanks. Yea I can't belive how long I waited actually. I've always dreamed about getting fanatec wheels since..well forever 😅 But when they anounced the CSL DD I could not resist.
Just in case you didn't know, with most modern DD wheels you can set your in-game rotating angle to 900 degrees and also in the FANATEC software to 900. that will automatically match the cars angle to your wheel
Yea that works good. And in Raceroom I have to set the wheel to auto in rotation and that works too👍
That's what I was really looking for. A real visual opinion switching from a mid-tier wheel to the CSL DD. I was really clueless about rather buy it or not but your reactions are priceless and now I want to feel everything like you did. Thanks for helping me! Caps off! Subscribed!

Great upgrade! Always great to watch people with wheel upgrades, especially from a logitech. Congratulations! You'll be amazed at how much better you will be able to catch slides too!

@@captainflatspot if you don't already, you should try a config for your ffb, with ams2, it's a game changer! You can even feel the engine through the wheel.
@@aubreycolemanracing yea that is a good tip. That did make a huge difference in both ams2 and pc2 with my g29 I remember. Gonna be fun experementing with the settings with this one 👍

Very much looking at the same route, was wondering to go full boost kit, but your experience has probably convinced me to do the step by step route, and allow me to save for each upgrade 👍
Yea I had not the money for the boost kit when I preordered. And it feels nice to be able to upgrade the power later on 👍
@@captainflatspotare you still using 5Nm? Or did you upgrade? I’m unsure if I should get 5 8 or even 15NM Fanatec for Ps5. I just don’t want to make the wrong choice. I think 8Nm will be enough but I’m worried that after a while I’ll need more. I just can’t make up my mind. If I buy 8Nm and then upgrade to 15 that’s a whopping £1600. I’m not a big bloke and that’s making me think 8Nm will be enough.

Hehe Yea after so many years with the G25 and G29 its a weird nice feeling doing this upgrade as you are so familiar with the feel and forcefeedback of the the Logitech.

Nice. That is a big step up. I gotta say the DD+ is interesting but I really dont need to upgrade. Really pleased with the standard 8nm CSL DD. But who knows in the future. A simracing rig is as they all say: never finished 😅

This was a great raw review and reaction. I've been using a G27 for 8 years and plan to get the CSL DD very soon so this was extremely relevant to me. I'm looking forward to my own "..this is HOOHOOHOO!" moments lol.

Don't waste your money on it. I also came from a G27 and expected a huge difference but instead was a huge disappointment instead.

Ohh thats wierd. I thought it was night and day. I used G25 for 15 years and had the G29 for about 3 years. So much more details coming throught and the smoothness and fast response of this DD is so different from the the g29.

I'm slowly building my 8020 rig with a VRS DFP, and the last piece (front mount) gets here in 2 days. With my main wheel being a g920 for the last 4 years, this video just made my little 2 day wait even longer. This video made my day, I like how you couldn't focus on driving, just wanted to feel and absorb the new experience. That's awesome, and now I'm going to refreshing my email and checking outside my doorstep every 10 minutes now haha

This was my exact reaction when I got my DD GT from Fanatec too! I also recently switched from three and a half years of a Logitech G920. Honestly even though my Fanatec was expensive, it was the best 1,500 to 2,000 bucks I've ever spent

I know this is a very late comment, but that was a great reaction to watch. Only just went from a g27 to a belt drive, so I can imagine what it must have been like to go to dd.
Hehe Yea that was night and day. Was planning on getting a belt driven wheel base to upgrade to. But then they announced the CSL DD about the same time I was planning to upgrade. Very pleased so far 👍
