Thanks for all the great info on how to wire an online thermostat for your garage heater. I have a similar heater and 10' ceilings and it is inconvenient to get out the stepladder to adjust the temperature dial on the heater. I live in Oliver, BC Canada and have a 300 sq ft insulated and drywalled garage and it gets cold here in the winter. I contacted Princess Auto about the thermostat you were mentioning in your video and they do not carry the Hometech Wall Thermostat in Canada. As this item is manufactured by Dimplex the equivalent model is a Dimplex Model TD322W. It even has the exact same instructions enclosed. Followed your video and instructions enclosed with the Dimplex and installation was a breeze and the garage heater works great. Thanks again for all your hard work making these great videos. Cheers!

😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄 To Be Honest? I Have The Same Type Heater.. Now Heres Your Problem.. You See, When Yo Turn Those Heaters On, The Coils All Heat Up.. Fine Right? However.. When You Turn Them Off? The Coils Are Still Heated/Hot.. So, Depending On How Hot The Coils Are, Depends On How Long It Will Take To Completely Shutdown.. These Type Heaters May Sometimes Take Up To 5 Or 10 Minutes For Them To Become Cool Enough For The Heater To Completely Shut Off.. And, Besides The Fact That You Have The Heater On The Ceiling Instead Of The Floor.. However? That's Another Issue.. Great Video Though.. I'm Going To Try The Thermostat.. Take Care.. 😊😊😊😊😉😉😉😉😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

Power goes into thermostat then exits the thermostat and goes to heater. That way, it acts as a switch.

I need to ask if a remote thermostat works better than the built in unit? My garage doubles as a family get together facility and the Dynaglo Pro really lets the temp go down before it finally kicks on.

Thanks a ton man, this is the exact solution I was looking for. My 4800W DynaGlow Heater thermostat works great when it works. Then in the middle of the night it doesn't shut off and I wake up to 90 degrees, lol. Never underestimate the reach of your experience!!

Just remove the thermostat in the unit. Connect the wires together. Splice in new thermostat at the plug in the wall. Done

I didn't watch part 2 but I would just run a thermostat to a 240v, 30a relay inline with the 240v power feed to the heater. When the set temperature is reached, thermostat allows 120v to pass to the relay which closes it, allowing 240v to pass thru to the heater. Safe and easy.

I quit shopping at "High Class" stores like Princess Auto almost completely. The warranty usually ends as soon as you walk out the door. They likely gave you the thermostat for free knowing that it might burn your shop down and don't want a paper trail. Have an awesome X-Mas my friend. 😁

Free thermostat, awesome! Long threads for sure. I'm good at taking things apart, it's putting em back together that is the problem. Hope you get it figured outwith your phone a friend!

Did you want to hardwire the new thermostat to the heater Steve so you can mount it a little bit lower? I’m not sure about the circuit design but a thermostat is basically a switch so I would check the heater ground and + feed to the thermostat and then you know the other 2 wires will be what powers the heater itself so you can fit the new thermostat 👍👍👍

Looks like that switch has got it covered. Good luck Steve

Looking at your schematic I think I would tie the temp cut out, the motor, and the indicator light all together eliminating the thermostat. Then I would use your 240 v outlet box as a box for your new thermostat ( remount the box say 4 ' off the floor ), next run a new piece of wire to a new box to install and power up your old outlet to control the power and temp to the unit. I wired up a thermostat and outlet for my kerosene torpedo heater in my garage a few years ago and it is so much more comfortable then it was using the thermostat in the unit. Steve you can buy a 240v wall mounted thermostat for electric base board such as a Honywell for as little as $30.00 at Home Depot that come with a wiring diagram. Just make sure you get one rated at the proper amperage. But to be safe check with a licensed electriction because with electricity, if you don't get it right, things go really wrong really fast, in really bad way, as I am sure you already know ! Take Care Steve !

How's she goin'? Just reading through the comments and like Gator says, the new thermostat is a double pole and the thermostat in the heater is a single pole. With out being able to confirm the wiring in the actual heater, I would say just use one pole of the new thermostat and wire it into where the thermostat in the heater is, the one you took the screws out of. The 2 smaller wires on this heater thermostat go to the 'temp cut out' switch and the other probably goes to the 'indicator light' that shows the power is on the heater/motor. You should connect these as they are now in the heater to keep the 'temp cut out' safety active. Pretty clear eh!!! Where are you planning on mounting the new thermostat? You may need to run an extra piece of wire from the heater to the new thermostat if you mount the new thermostat remote from the heater. Stay safe and warm!!!
