    You need to watch. I have the same setup. That thermostat on high will over heat and will heat up. We had a week of -40 and the heater was run alot. The actual thermostat will get hot and throw off your temp. When i looked into why it was off it melted the connectors cause of the heat.

    Hey Steve. Tnx for the video. My issue with this same heater is not that it won't shut off, it's that it will only run on high for about 5 mins and then shuts off. Thermo mode I guess but the thermo light does not indicate anything. Shocking. Great heater otherwise. It runs fine in Low mode. So obviously I cannot do the same as you and put the external therm in series with the internal as I will certainly just have the same prob. Any ideas ( anyone ) how to just bypass all the internal therm all together? Cheers.

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  Рік тому +1

      Good question. I'm only ever using it on low but the hi does work . I believe you can just remove the thermostat completely and ask PA for a new thermostat. You should have no problems getting one if not for free as they know of so many others that have the exact same problem. Go to your PA and ask for the manager 👍

    So I was hoping to see how you hooked up the thermostat inside the heater? Did you bypass the heater’s internal thermostat altogether? Where did the wires go? I remember in part 1 you had 2 blacks and 2 reds all connected together on the heaters internal thermostat...

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  4 роки тому

      The new thermostat is hooked up as normal but I now have two thermostats in series so the heater thermostat must be switched on and the new thermostat controls the temperature. Works great .

    • @Sugarkryptonite
      @Sugarkryptonite 3 роки тому +1

      @@SteveRobReviews So I'm guessing you set the thermostat on the heater to its maximum, and just use the thermostat on the wall to control it? The problem with my heater is that even with it set to its maximum it still goes off too early. I will have to bypass mine.

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  3 роки тому

    Did the fan run after the thermostat shut the heater off to cool the heater off before it stopped when you used the original thermostat? If it didn't your setup is fine. If it did it is better to connect the new thermostat to the connections on the original thermostat on the heater so the fan will run long enough to cool of the heater after the heating unite shuts off. Location of the new thermostat is fine either way. If the fan did continue to run just disconnect the thermostat from the power cord and add a set of wires from the new thermostat to the connections on the built in thermostat. If you can get to the original connections on the thermostat it would be easy to connect. Of course you would need to reconnect the wires to each other in the power cord.

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  4 роки тому

      Gordon the fan shuts off at the same time as the thermostat shuts it off there was no delay on the fan. So far it seems to be just fine running off the remote thermostat. Cheers

    A small constructive note, a thermostat should not be installed on an exterior wall and closer to your window even colder, this distorts the reading because the wall is always colder = more expensive in electricity and less precise,a simple 2 inch wall and window support would fix the situation. the Canadian code explains it very well. P.S. I am an electrician by trade, but by and large fine work Steeve.

      The connection at the thermostat is the same for a all 240 v units or a baseboard heater as well . I didnt show the connections because their is a million video on youtube showing it plus the instruction sheet shows it . Just a ground and two live wires , very simple . Look on youtube if you like for the connections if your not too good with electrical but they are shown on the instructions that come with the thermostat.
