for Madfit, because she's a dancer, I understand the calf raises. I watch a few dancers and they need to strengthen their ankles for dances on heels or on toes like ballet

@@TFNL I'll add for ballet you stay towards weight on your toes basically all the time. It helps with doing quick movements properly without hurting yourself. So plies (ballet "squats") are done on your toes and it's proper form there.
She also looks like she made the same mistake I did when I first tried to do sumo squats. She has a good 2nd position plie going with her whole body straight up. The stance is still close to keep the releve (calf raise) stable. It was also drilled into us in ballet to keep 2nd closer in prep for pointe work. I've noticed sumo is a wider stance with the torso tilted forward a bit and the hips are not turned out as far as your mobility allows. The weight is even through the foot instead of skewed towards the toes and overall sumo feels more solid to me.

I am following Pamela Reif plans and I must say that I gained some strength and resistance! Probably they're not ideal if you want to build muscle, but for someone, like me, who just want to keep a nice figure and it's not really interested in adding muscle, I think she's good. Also, she's the first one that actually make me like training. (Sorry for the mistakes, I am Italian and English is a bit tricky for me 😂😅)
About MadFit, she has some good workout and in most of them she explains how to do the movement and not to hurt yourself, I think that for a beginner she's might be a good choice.

Right around the start of covid, I started doing Pamela's and madfit's video workouts. That's when I first started enjoying working out. The dance workouts were so fun, and I did see some results, mostly with the fact that I was able to finally do a push up and my core started getting stronger. But after around 2 years, I'm ready to move on. There's only so much you can do with bodyweight. I bought dumbbells! And I honestly have so much fun with them, that Pamela and Madfir workouts just aren't hitting the spot anymore. Thankful I started somewhere, but time to continue moving forward. I just read another commenter mention Caroline, I think I'll try her videos

A classic one this time :)) So happy you weren't disappointed with Madfit as she is someone who introduced me to the fitness world :) at least in the previous videos she was always adding that information about spotting fat reduction not being possible but still, these titles are pretty misleading. And unfortunately I didn't see much of the results following her workouts, just an enormous fatigue. Maybe it's the beginner thing. Definitely her workouts prepped me for incorporating weights and keeping a proper form. She also seems to be the nicest person and makes the workouts fun. Just didn't see many room for improvement with her anymore.

I have nothing very interesting to say but I am so happy I’ve discovered your channel and thank you so much for these videos, they’re awesome (and also quite addictive haha 😆). I have been really hoping you’d cover MadFit so thanks for that, too!
Personally, I have tried both Madfit’s and Pamela’s workouts in the past when I believed that fat spot reduction was possible (the workout titles really insinuate that) and I found that I could only stick with home workouts for a short period of time, they always get really boring after a few weeks. I know this depends on the particular person and some people love them but I hate that there is no way to measure improvement and progression. As you said, you can hardly add more weight to water hydrants or kickbacks and the only way you can gauge if you’ve improved is by comparing how hard you worked on particular days. But that also depends on many other factors so it’s not going to be accurate anyway. I have always struggled with exercise, the kind of problem when you want to look better but don’t really enjoy working out. This completely changed when I started going to the gym to do weight training, and now I’m actually looking forward to working out so much and the way I look is not the main priority anymore - the enjoyment I get from exercise is!
Your videos were among those that helped me understand what’s really important, what to focus on, who is worth listening to and who’s full of bs. Thanks a lot, Harry, I will happily continue to follow your channel and recommend it to as many people as possible. You deserve a huge amount of followers and I hope that people will understand that one day!

Thank you so much for tolerating me! Absolutely, we all prefer different things and you must do what's best for you :) The way I always saw training was like this; training is one of the few aspects of life that you have direct control over the progress that you make. You can give 100% to your job but you aren’t promised a promotion, whereas if you give training your all then progression is inevitable. Honestly, your support means more to me than you could ever imagine and I appreciate you

Being both short and reasonably flexible, using smaller plates for RDLs/SLDLs is a must. Kind of a pain compared to using one heavier plate, but my ROM would be nonexistent otherwise. As you pointed out, there isn't one perfect way to perform any movement, so that 'trick' isn't for everyone, and I could see how the added ROM might not be necessary or advisable for someone else.

Still haven't watched the Q&A, forgive me.
But here I am, rambling about my views on your video anyway.
And you are right: that does look itchy :D
My issue with the squat-to-calf raise exercise (beyond what you said) is that without any added weight, I doubt the intensity of the cal raises will ever be high enough to actually achieve overload when the pauses between the reps are so long. Not to mention that your legs will most likely be tired/ burning from the squats before the calves even feel anything^^
About that clickbait title: I know clickbait can be almost necessary nowadays and I concede that she is more honest in her approach to the topic of spot fat reduction than most, but it's still kinda scummy imho.
Speaking of clickbait: Haven't seen any crazy home workout clips thus far, Harold ;)
Senada's RDL form is really damn impressive.
But those Nordic hamstring curls look weird with that weight that can barely offer any stability.
9:42 I wasn't aware that the exercise is called "fire hydrant"... But it does make sense. And is kinda hilarious, tbh :D
Something else that just came to mind: While I know that the polished, clean look is important to these fitness influencers, I definitely prefer and put more trust into someone who looks like shit at the end of a seriously taxing workout over people like Pamela who look like they're about to do a photoshoot even immediately after the workout.
    Another enjoyable video. Thanks ;)

Hi! I'm not sure if you're going to reply but I really hope you do!
Because I'm a PT student. I'll be graduating in 2 years from now. And I have some doubts.
(I'm sorry if these questions turn out to be stupid. I don't want to be a bad physio!)
    1. You said that rectus abdominis is one muscle and you can't target upper and lower abs, while I agree on the one muscle thing, why do your upper part of the abs burn more than the lower part when you do crunches?
    2. What exactly causes muscle imbalance in a weird way? By weird, I mean, I'm right handed. And I think I do concentrate when I workout. I usually do the regular weightless arm workouts of chloe ting or someone and use one litre water bottles (I measured the two bottles on a scale to make sure they weigh EXACTLY the same) as weights sometimes.
But. My LEFT bicep feels and looks bigger than my right bicep. No drastic differences. Maybe like a centimeter or something. I'm right handed. And also kinda stronger on my right. But my left biceps looks bigger :/ So I'm really not sure what's going wrong.
Why do you think this happens?
    3. I came across your channel just 30 minutes ago and I looove your content! I'm sure I'll learn a lot from your videos!😁
What advice would you give to a future physical therapist? (EDIT- PT who also wants to be a personal trainer. Does this make sense?)
(I might copy paste this comment on your most recent video if you happen to miss the notification from this comment(idk how the admin part of channels on yt works sorry!)
And thanks in advance! And sorry for the rant!

    • @TFNL
      @TFNL  2 роки тому +1

Hey hey hey! These questions are bloody splendid and certainly not stupid 😊
      1) You can place greater emphasis on certain areas based on the movement. I.e., changing your shoulder position when doing a bicep curl alters the head that is being emphasised/where you might feel the movement.
      2) There are so many factors that could influence imbalances. ROM differences, other muscles not ‘firing’ properly (look into Kinesiology), etc. Nobody is perfectly symmetrical but trying to ensure that force output is equal is very important.
      3) Thank you so much! Think outside of the box. The best physio I’ve ever seen focuses very much on Kinesiology and deviating from the educational norm. Never stop learning 😊

Wow, I wasn’t completely blinded by your skin tone when the video started!
Kind of surprised you didn’t comment on the spongy shoes she seems to be wearing during squats, since I thought that was typically a no-no? I do remember the “weight through the midfoot” cue though I still keep focusing on through my heels more of the time than I’d like to admit. A lot of the footwork she is doing does seem “extra”, though like you said, form pretty spot on for just the plain bodyweight squats.
Props to her for acknowledging that you can’t spot reduce fat, far too many influencers are way too misleading with that. Side planks are torture (well, planks in general) but I know I have to do them..
Seneda: I agree with you that “creativity” is overrated when it comes to gym exercises. Seems like a lot of good stuff with her TBH, and I back your point on there not being a “perfect” technique in most cases, as there is a huge degree of variation between people, but they should still strive for as best as possible. The Nordic drop looks like an interesting movement I might need to try out sometime, and I’ll give her props as well for her back positioning and mad range of motion.
Pamela Reif: Not much to say here for me TBH, as you said, most glute workouts are kind of the same. On your point about “Just because you had a pump, doesn’t mean you had an effective workout”, I agree, but the pump is definitely great for the ego I’ll admit! Great information on progressive overload for people.
I always appreciate how informative your videos are, and while I know I’m still not the targeted audience anymore being a male, I still take away some technique stuff or ideas to incorporate into my own training, which is definitely helpful! Thank you for being you and continuing to make great content!

Nonsense! Everyone who wants to learn something is the target audience. Great notes, as per usual.

@@melissathelioma2890 or my autocorrect is shit and I already fixed it before I even looked at the replies to it, though now this comment thread has already been thoroughly derailed enough.

WOW! I feel like I'm made this comment so many times, I always worry I'm repeating myself. It's always nice to see that our thoughts regarding the content aligns pretty well and I'm glad that you're still taking something away from my videos. Thank you, Austin!

I cover all genders, but my videos are usually based on what people have sent me/asked me to look at. 91% of subscribers to this channel are women, which contributes to the content targeting the dominant demographic :)

There's something so Incredibly odd about Senada. Of course she's in top shape but I find her so harsh looking. Shes that Instagram crazy fit person that is clearly obcessed with exercise and diet, just like zuzka light. I don't follow those type of accounts anymore, or much of fitness anymore. And it's not the whole, "they make me feel bad about my body". It's more that I'm annoyed at their robotic, self obcessed personalities.
