OK, to be fair I didn't know the "animators aren't character designers" part either. I was today years old when I learned that there's a team to decide what the character should look like, a team to build a 3D model based on that, and a third team to make that 3D model move. And no team has any meaningful say in what the other teams do or decide. So the modelling and animation team is "stuck" with what the design team decided.

I truly believe that that is where Disney would be if they would’ve just let Pixar stick with 3-D animation and they put time and effort into 2-D animation. Of course to the animation isn’t going to be as the same detail as 3-D animation especially when the 2-D animated films were made 40 to 10 years ago, Technology has changed so much and you can get so much more detail in. But you can also get that detail into 2-D animation if they just put effort into it. I miss with all of my soul 2-D animation. Some of Disney’s the last 2-D Animated films are spectacular masterpieces to watch but the main stream audience got too caught up in 3-D animation that they didn’t pay attention to it. You can't be serious regarding Elsa and Anna, who look weird and goofy in this movie in comparison to how they look in the _Frozen_ movies and shorts. Fortunately (from my point of view), all of these designs are only for this one movie, and won't be used in the future. For instance, Elsa and Anna are back to normal for _Frozen II_ (aged by 3 years but it's really subtle and they are, after all, 3 years older now, officially, while we're all 6 years older :) ).

Erza Sakurashi in the merchandise version of Cinderella (or ANY version ever created besides the three 2D animated movies) she has that light blonde hair color, which I think is sad... And it’s the most known version too at this point. I mean fine I guess it suits her too, but I love the original strawberry blonde version of her the best.
I just really miss the older animation styles. I don't hate 3D but when the frog princess was drawn i was very excited. I like the "boxy and sharp" chins that they added to some of the characters. Female 3D characters tend to look like they have the same base with minor tweaks and clothes. They all tend to look too similar and i like that they actually changed the face shape for some of the characters
How could you forget princess Tiana, they completely changed her entire look. They made her look bi racial with loose curly hair when she is obliviously dark skinned with tighter coiled hair. 😑😑😑
Really? So we're not going to talk about how they effed up Tiana? Come on. They made her hair less dense, they lightened her skin, and made her nose and lips smaller! I love the thought you put into your video, but a little piece on how they changed her would've been nice.
@@rollingthunder1043, lol... hmm I think that although Pixar's co-working with Disney, it doesn't mean this last one owns characters' original models nor either can get them... this is what only I suppose (I rather they just kept Buzz's design tho) :P

I agree with you. He is forgetting that in 2D animation, less is more. Jasmine didn´t need to have a glittery garment, and it would be a pain to animate. The same happened with Ariel (I´m bottered that he only adressed Ariel´s night scenes, and not the day ones)
Wtf is this video? This is a different movie with a different style in art and you expect everything to translate well? And wth are you going about saying the original designs look worse? They're older, and done by different artists in a different medium. The most bias being Ariel's comparison.
I can explain Buzz's character design, and the same applies to Merida. Both of them were animated at Pixar. This film was a Walt Disney feature. They have a different animation style than Pixar, and those two basically just got more of the lighter Disney touch rather than their heavier look Pixar gives them
You go to his channel and look at up right corrner, there should be 3 dots. Click on them and there should be option to block his channel. (btw use phone for this, idk if it's the same for PC version)
Probably to fit with the tone, Elsa/Tiana's stories are a little more...mature? At least with Tiana, I remember more realistic proportions. But since Wreck it Ralph is a comedic movie, all the princesses in general got big bobble heads with saucer eyes and I feel somewhat generic?? features. Like I feel they all pretty much got the basic face shape (head, nose, eyebrows, etc) that might have taken away more distinct characteristics from their own films.
The 2D animations look “dull” because animation was not as advanced as it is today. A lot of things in the old versions were hand drawn. So adding to much details would have taken a lifetime to finish. Honestly the only character that I understand your take on is Buzz. The rest I think look amazing!
You forgot to mention Tiana. While the rest of the princess that weren't mentioned were made in 3d. Tiana was a 2d character that was turned in a 3d character just like the other princesses.
booklover101 That’s because they somehow struggled with making Tiana some of the characters like Tiana just must not have Been easy to make from their original looks since they had to make them look like a video game character at the same time
Honestly, the wreck it Ralph versions were worse to me. They all had the same mold for the faces, they all looked alike and they were just boring to me. The original versions of these Disney characters will always and forever have a place in our hearts for generations to come. NOT the wreck it Ralph versions.
Lilly Cofell Rapunzel, Merida, Moana, Elsa and Anna didn’t look too right either. I think it comes down to the art style of Wreck it Ralph. If Disney did made 3d renditions of their movies, they would look better
I honestly think both versions are beautiful... Also if you really look at them they are all very different... And uniquely beautiful in there own princessy way
i honestly just don’t even think the two are comparable they are so completely different. however i love all 2D characters more than these new ones. my opinion. 🥰
I personally don’t like to make fun of Disney character designs based on other opinions. I think both the 2d and 3D designs were amazing! This just shows how much Disney has evolved in their animation skills.
I understand that they improved the princesses, and they look great, but the original is what we grew up with. Nothing will ever beat the original because it is the original. My opinion. 😊
I love ariels original face because it was so expressive. Her face was kind of forever changing. Each angle was so different and beautiful. I think the 2D version was so beautiful!
Two things: 1. Everybody knows Dumbo's movie. Dumbo is a legendary animated movie up there with the other classic Disney animated films. 2. Princess Jasmine, plain? Come on, are you for real? Did we watch the same Aladdin? There's a lot of descriptors when it comes her; independent, kind-hearted, spirited, courageous but plain? No way! She is anything but that!
Just gonna say I love my childhood Ariel nothing with change my mind that all the princess were perfect for there time the movie took on a new look at them but the older versions wher still amazing. And don’t you dare hate on eore he has depression
I think all of the Disney characters are perfect and I never disliked any of them, the animators did an amazing job in my opinion. Cinderella looks great, Jasmine is DEFINITELY not dull in the original movie, Mulan looks really cool and casual and Pocahontas' hair is very graceful! Everything is amazing!
Ight, everyone knows that most of these princess movies were older, and they didn't exactly have the technology we have today? I mean, this video is basically saying that the animated in the older movies were "not good enough". And also, the animators aren't the same as before, so it's not their fault. And the setting is supposed to be a website, so of course they're a little fancied/altered ( I just saw the title and decided to rant before I even finished watched the while video).
I think the only “worse” princess was Cinderella. If they made her look a little less childlike it would have been fine. But the others looked pretty good.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the biggest thing that made Cinderella look “off,” especially when you mentioned it with Pocahontas (which was a non-issue for me): her jawline. Cinderella has a soft, round jaw and chin and they made it sharp and pointed in the movie. They also made her eyes and mouth way too big and didn’t give enough room to her long cheeks. It’s not the bangs that do her in, it’s just the overall composition of her face that is nowhere close to the original.
Ronelle Campbell That’s a very flawed argument. If anything animation got EASIER, not better. Most of disney’s new movies have the same mold for their characters and their 3d animation loses all that made their 2d animations rememberable. It loses its originality and character design becomes bland.
they are all beautiful i think.. i just respect how the animator can translate the 2d old animation to 3d, and made with wreck in ralph animation style. yes, it's not just ordinary 3d, but in this animation style. who nows they change their fiture again in different 3d animation? just respect for the maker, 'coz can't make it better.. i just watcher you know.

Agreed. Pocahontas was perfect just the way they did her. She ALWAYS had a boxy chin and jawline.
*Pocohontas*
Am I the only one seing the different hair colour on Cinderella?
Erza Sakurashi in the merchandise version of Cinderella (or ANY version ever created besides the three 2D animated movies) she has that light blonde hair color, which I think is sad... And it’s the most known version too at this point. I mean fine I guess it suits her too, but I love the original strawberry blonde version of her the best.
Yes! She was originally strawberry blonde canonically but they made her gold, now platinum.
Her original hair color is a mustard yellow the other one is a actual blonde
@@kaylasaige6916 Are you talking about the original film?
Her original hair wasn’t mustard, it was strawberry blonde. The color now looks unnatural bottled blonde
Mulan looked just fine to me! I think she's the best one to be honest!
Techou Videos same over here!
Totally agree, she s' looking great! Though, I think Ariel's better.
yeah i agree to honest
*to be honest
I think they all look fine.
Alternate title: Man who doesn’t know what women look like tries to act like he’s a disney character designer
*When you like the original designs more
Meeeee!!!
Same here
Yup
Definitely
Well I like them both
Welp for I guess this is my opinion XD
“Their faces looked boxy, and squared off!” *me, chilling with my squarish jaw* oof
But, Pocahontas looks awesome?? She's hot tbh-
Her jawline and face are accurate to Disney version
Ronnie honestly a lot of Native Americans have that jawline.
Arrianna Oliver no one says they didnt
Ikr! She looks amazing. I don’t know what is wrong with him
Ronnie nope she looks nothing like her original design
Tiger Lily nothing is wrong with him. It’s called a difference in opinion
FIESTA FLANDERS YES!!
Yes!
This dude talk is a bitch
I agree with you but “frog princess”........

Yeeeeesssssss

*Me* : Eeyor is not a Disney Princess 😂
😂

He can be a Disney princess if he wants to be 😂
Eeyore is the one true Disney Princess XD
He is
The original Jasmine, to me, looks much better than the WIR version.

Yep
Og Cinderella 💙
Definitely agreed!
Yes like why is jasmines skin tone dark in wreck it Ralph ?
that is so untrue, the originals will alwas be a work of art
Georgia Acken it’s called an opinion. His is different than yours. It doesn’t make anything untrue
Especially when some of them are like 70 years old.
yes they will always be better
Ofc i fully agree with you
How could you forget princess Tiana, they completely changed her entire look. They made her look bi racial with loose curly hair when she is obliviously dark skinned with tighter coiled hair. 😑😑😑
Tiana is ok. Ralph's Pokahontas is the problen. She's a dworf.
I completely agree! it was already bad enough that she was a frog 3/4 of the movie
@@E.G.H.Espindola she is definitely not okay
Hawa Coulibaly i know right!
GuiLLe Fenix shes not tho , this new tiana was a joke
Really? So we're not going to talk about how they effed up Tiana? Come on. They made her hair less dense, they lightened her skin, and made her nose and lips smaller! I love the thought you put into your video, but a little piece on how they changed her would've been nice.
I laughed when it came to Buzz Lightyear "How. HOOW?" LITERALLY THOUGH
"YOU GUYS LITERALLY ALREADY OWN 3D MODELS OF THIS CHARACTER! JUST USE THOSE!"
@Doggo With Anxiety, yeah same 😂
@@rollingthunder1043, lol... hmm I think that although Pixar's co-working with Disney, it doesn't mean this last one owns characters' original models nor either can get them... this is what only I suppose (I rather they just kept Buzz's design tho) :P
Yeah, Im super unsatisfied with this version of him.
Just slap a weird purple shape on a space suit, put a beige coloring on a part of it slap mouth and nose and eyes and you're about done!
Now you have unesssasary character that you already had a character of!!!!!
I disagree with what you said about Jasmine. I love the original so much better!!
I agree with you. He is forgetting that in 2D animation, less is more. Jasmine didn´t need to have a glittery garment, and it would be a pain to animate. The same happened with Ariel (I´m bottered that he only adressed Ariel´s night scenes, and not the day ones)
Original definitely isn’t bland.
Wtf is this video? This is a different movie with a different style in art and you expect everything to translate well?
And wth are you going about saying the original designs look worse? They're older, and done by different artists in a different medium. The most bias being Ariel's comparison.
EXACTLY. I can't agree more
I can explain Buzz's character design, and the same applies to Merida.
Both of them were animated at Pixar. This film was a Walt Disney feature. They have a different animation style than Pixar, and those two basically just got more of the lighter Disney touch rather than their heavier look Pixar gives them
Smartest comment I've seen yet I just wish they done jasmine sense she was made in 2d but she wasn't better or worse honestly
You also failed to mention how they lost Elsa's beautiful features. 💔
AND SHE WAS A 3 D CHARACTER
Voice Of Neha Yes. 👍😊

So no one's going to talk about how weird Elsa and Tiana looked in the Wreck It Ralph version? Okay then.
yes omg, elsa looked so different
@@KUYAMIN I think it's because her hair was too much... idk, it just feels weird.
JY Bong for me it was the eyebrows. they changed her eyebrows a lot while they left anna mostly the same aside from stylistic changes
@@KUYAMIN maybe she had a browlift. :O
There's is something about listening to a man judge the appearances of Disney princess by their "shape" that rubs me the wrong way.
Yeah... Same...
In this movie all the princess look like they have 13 years olds.
Wilkham I agree, I think they all look good but somehow the newer versions look a lot younger than their original counterparts.
Wasn't Snow White 14 tho?
@@notareallin620
Shes the only one whos so young
Most of them are younger than u may think and Pocahontas is around 13
@@KFCe22956
No she isnt ... you can look up their ages lol theyre mostly 16 and some are a bit older than that
Hey I liked the original princesses. They are still beauitful to me, whether they are modernized or still remain original.
You forgot to mention Tiana. While the rest of the princess that weren't mentioned were made in 3d. Tiana was a 2d character that was turned in a 3d character just like the other princesses.
booklover101 That’s because they somehow struggled with making Tiana some of the characters like Tiana just must not have Been easy to make from their original looks since they had to make them look like a video game character at the same time
Aurora and Belle also weren't mentioned.
@LaLa Labrinth it's only a whitewashing issue when she is actually made white.
Not all were mentioned. I don't think it's a race issue.
@JessikaEmerald yes
I think this gentelman, simply can´t deal with strong female characters...^^
Cinderella looks like Hiccup and Astrid's daughter.
None of them look worse to me
OH frickin grumpy
Jean McDermott haha yeah the art isn't terrible its still good

Well, the movie was called ALADDIN you know. It was about him, not her
Your opinions are truly bad tbh
Exactly
There is no such thing as a bad opinion, only different ones.
@@mercury6197 yeah but not in this case
Just because your opinion is different, doesn’t mean his is bad
@@mercury6197 actually yes if you think about it, like nazis?
Original: real women
WIR: little girls
I really wouldn't say they're women with the fact most of them are under 18 apart from like Tiana and Elsa.
I only agree with Cinderella and buzz. The rest whatever.
And uniquely beautiful in there own princessy way
Merida looks more like Venelope than herself tho
I like the new ones Better my opinion
Lilly Cofell most of the new ones are better
"Jasmine looks incredibly dull in the original movie" "Dumbo feels like a lower tier film" I didn't realize opinions like this even existed...
I disagree with jasmine.they change her nose and face shape and just doesn’t look the same
i honestly just don’t even think the two are comparable they are so completely different. however i love all 2D characters more than these new ones. my opinion.
My opinion. 😊
I liked seeing the princesses in wreck it Ralph but I think they all looked better in their own films
yup
except Snow White
Andrea Vancsa I agree
sorry, but i disagree
Gacha_Blondie_uwu_ love your pfp
I'm not even listening to this guy, "Jasmine looking dull", STFU I'm just here to get a better look at the princesses.
cool
I absolutely loved their portrayal of Merida. Wish she got more screen time.
I love ariels original face because it was so expressive. Her face was kind of forever changing. Each angle was so different and beautiful. I think the 2D version was so beautiful!
The only one that kinda put me off was how Tiana’s remodel was light-skinned and given more caucasian features. Made me raise an eyebrow.
Yubi K. Agreed
Just go ahead and put that eyebrow back down because no one gives a damn
Exactly, she looks bi racial
Two things:
Actually the Disney Characters were perfect the way they were..
2D > 3D
You won't change my mind.
7:50 WHAT DOES HE MEAN. HONESTLY LIKE DUDE SHE IS “”dull”” BECAUSE THATS HER PERSONALITY I WOULDNT EVNE CALL IT “”dull”” ITS CALLED SIMPLE
The way he said “inkrehdablee dull” makes me even madder
Sorry 2D back then didn’t have what today’s society has, I’ll stick to the originals thank you.
Srsly? Comparing 1980s-2015s Disney with 2019s Disney? Technology develop man
Just gonna say I love my childhood Ariel nothing with change my mind that all the princess were perfect for there time the movie took on a new look at them but the older versions wher still amazing.
They keep enlarging the characters’s eyes to make them look younger... that’s a shame
......thats the art style
Mulan looks good IMO you’re not considering the wreck it Ralph art style
Is that a fellow BotW fan I see?
ZeldaHarp why yes it is!
Prince Sidon is hot eh?
Gabli.heichou lmao the fan art is hotter than the real thing 😂 what does that have to do with this?
@@heroofthyme4237 shhhhhhh
Wreck It Ralph did some of these justice, while screwed up some of the others.
Kingdom Hearts on the other hand nailed all of these.
I love how Pocohantas' hair is always blowing in the wind lol
It looks more modern but the originals were classic’s
With Cinderella I think it’s the ears, they’re way too big when in the 2D original they didn’t even draw them in for her princess transformation
Eeyore =depression
One like=happiness for eeyore
how do I like a comment multiple times? I must know
What about Moana and Tiana? :o Or Elsa and Anna?
Moana, Elsa, and Anna are already 3D characters, Tiana is a 2d character but he decided not to put her in the video for some reason.
And Merida!
I think the only “worse” princess was Cinderella. If they made her look a little less childlike it would have been fine. But the others looked pretty good.
Seriously comparing 2D and 3D, its like comparing newspaper and online news 🤦🏻♂️
I think Moana has a habit saying your welcome because of Mauwi.....I think that’s how you spell it
*Maui
*Maui
Merida was messed up to me. They took her fierceness away
James Hamaker i think it’s because she’s normally just confusing
I thought they would mention her, but they didnt.
James Hamaker because she is Scottish! And that was a joke on how hard they are to understand 😁
Jasmine was my favorite redesign.
They managed to convey her ethnicity through the facial features without going overboard
Am I the only one that feels like the heads were a little bigger than normal? I saw it especially in Anna and Elsa.
I think all of them look wonderful.
I LOVE EVERYTHING!! UWU
Edit: My favorite is snow white! My first disney princess!
Snowers!

@@i_like_2_draw211 its a cat face.
I think all the wreck it Ralph characters are better than the real ones
Me too
Ronelle Campbell That’s a very flawed argument.
“Dull” dude it was animation yearsss ago and it was a prime on their own time. Have some respect
