Strategies to not get too nervous on the field:
0:50 Kick the nerves BY TAKING ACTION. PRACTICE in advance BEFORE THE GAMES.
1:50 Keep focused on what is happening now. FOCUS ON THE PRESENT MOMENT.
2:50 Forget about outcome goals and focus on process goals. Focus on WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL (preparing your minds and bodies, routine, etc.).
4:00 Forget about who you are playing. Doesn't matter how good the other player is. Baseball is a simple game; the rules don't change. For instance, as a batter, you are hitting the ball, not the pitcher. The pitcher has to throw the ball over the plate. FOCUS ON THE BALL.
5:00 BREATHE slowly and deeply. In-between pitches. Step out of the batter's box. Release the past mistakes (That bat is done with). Maybe close your eyes.
6:20 Perfection is paralyzing. Baseball is a game of failures. PLAY YOUR GAME hard & with your passion, without trying to be perfect.

    Nice intro!
My daughter is 9 years old and plays travel softball. I saw some hitting system tip one time that said to have your favorite song humming in your head while you batted. It kind of clears your head and you just react to the ball.
It's helped her out a lot!

Brandon Carroll... know a kid & when he's on deck sings All my Exes Live in Texas out load but low.... cracks me up, works and he bats better for it! Awesome to see & hear...

Aside from clearing your head, songs also have a rhythm to them... and hitting is all about rhythm and timing! Great advice!

Thank you so much coach Justin for all your experience and advice! I started playing fastpitch softball when I was about 12, going into it after spending my free time since I was 3 dancing and competition dance. I fell in love with softball and played for one reason, to have fun. As I got older and played travel ball I began to start negative head games. Now, as a high school athlete, finally I feel as though I can really play the game without worrying about any factors that are out of my control. you are the best coach (aside from my dad) I've ever had teaching me! keep up the great work, you will never know what an impact you have on young athletes.

Thanks coach. I am actually an umpire. I did a youth tournament this weekend and felt like I called a great game behind the plate for the championship. Even several of my peers were watching and agreed. I was getting yelled at and heckled by parents almost the entire time. I’ve got 11u league games tonight, and my nerves are shot. This was helpful. Parents can be the worst, and a big reason why there is an umpire shortage. I’ve never been nervous all season, but my experience Sunday night has me questioning whether or not I can continue to do this. It’s a shame because I love the game, and played until I was 23. Didn’t get into coaching because my son has no interest in baseball, and thought this was the next best thing.

Some years I play at a recreational level, and some years I’ve played at competitive levels. I got nervous regardless of the level of play sometimes. What I’ve realized is that as long as I’m alive, in some way, shape, or form, if you love the game, there will always be a chance for you to play. Therefore, there will always be a chance for you to get a nice hit, have a good outing on the mound, make a nice play on the field, etc… So if something doesn’t go your way one day, remember that there will always be another chance.

Mustang 0772 oh yeah I get that. Just try to workout on your own. Even if it's for a little bit. You said you want to go pro. Just when you have time lift and lift heavier. • @VincentD20
      @VincentD20 6 років тому

      Kobe Lebron
Well , my first 2 years of High School , I was on the Sophomore team , which is the worst team , but I would say im average , There are 3 teams , Sophmore team (which is basically the Freshmen team) , JV and Varsity , my first year I was on the Sophomore team , and throughout the whole year , we only won about 2-3 games maybe , and I hardly played , maybe about 2-3 games , and i was pissed , and my second year , i was suppose to be on JV but the head coach said there r too many Right Fielders and he said ill be on JV or prob sit the bench most of the time of be on The Sophomore Team again and play , so I chose Sophomore again , and I still hardly played but I played a little more than the year before and its the same coach as last year , so he knows me already , and there were so many Freshmen on the Sophomore team , and there were about 4 actual Sophomores including me and the rest were Freshmen , and again we lost a lot of games but this group was say better than the group I was with last year, and we won about maybe 4-5 and we had a couple of crazy come-from-behind wins , I enjoyed it a little more this year , but i played a little more , but the first time I go up to bat and I strike out, the coach takes me out , instead of leaving me in and doing better next AB and know what I did wrong the last AB when I stuck out , so id only get 1 AB for the whole game which was like the 1st inning only , and this year , since I'll be a Junior , I think u have to be on JV or Varsity

Any advice for kids who are scared of getting hit by pitches and who jump away from the plate no matter what kind of pitch is thrown? My nephew who's 10 loves baseball but my sister says he turns into a frog when he's up to bat and keeps leaping backward at every pitch. Thanks in advance.

I’m nervous about being the only girl on an all boys league. I hate not being my strongest. It’s snowing and i have practice this morning inside, There are two teams- 8u and 12u. I’m on 12u which means i’m going to Cooperstown. I’ve dealt with playing with boys for years, but i’m on a new team. I need to know that i want to be their. I want to play, not that i need to or that i have to, i want to.

I hope someone sees my comment, I see there haven't been any for two years, but someone ought to help me! I got my batting movement right, there's hip rotation, front leg straight, I swing from a firm position, my head is between my legs etc. Even my bat feels light, the swing is good, so I should be doing something well. The problem is, when I get in the batter's box in a game, the whole thing just evaporates into thin air... the whole movement is gone.. everything... No body, no legs, no hips no nothing, I just make a weak swing only with my arms and the best I can get is a weak hit which results in a groundout, or I just strike out. Can someone help me? Others say it is stress, but it's my seventh season already... I shouldn't be that nervous... I don't get what the problem is
